Collingwood General and Marine Hospital

I grew up in the area. The hospital used to be much better. I came in with intense pain where my appendix is, triage treated me terribly when I was calm and just describing my symptoms. No respect for patients or dignity whatsoever. The wait I was told was going to be hours and hours while I’m bent over in pain. I couldn’t handle it, I had to leave. Seriously, worst experience I’ve ever had in a hospital. I’m now going to one where they actually care.

Terrible service almost 12 hour wait times.nurses were rude & condescending.my fiancee was referred by our family doctor due to an emergency with her appendix.possibly appendicitis so her appendix could rupture at any time and they didn't care. 6 hour wait time or more, others were waiting there since 5am.what if her appendix ruptures & it was fatal? For your health avoid this hospital at all costs.

Got here at 4: 00pm in emergency, it’s currently 2: 00am and still seen no doctor yet. Avoid this hospital, very unprofessional and rude staff that don’t care.

Stay away! This has to be the worst hospital by far. Great place to go if you have endless hours to wait for a unprofessional, cocky, mediocre (at best) male doctor on a power trip, that couldn't care less about what brought you there. Only then to gaslight you, speak over you and dismiss whatever it is that your going though, as well as telling you to just take Advil and Tylenol, that there isn't anything wrong with you, get over it. Its 2023 and here we are still gaslighting womens health care? Disgusting. I will add that over the years on a couple of occasions there have been a few good nurses and doctors, but they are very few and far between. Don't waste your time coming here and go somewhere else where you'll receive adequate care. This truly is a sorry excuse of a hospital. Not to mention that they're always looking for donations, but somehow it gets worse and worse all the time? I wouldn't donate a nickle to this dive. Disgraceful.

Website says the wait will be about 2 hours. Been here for three hours while two people who arrived after me were brought back while I'm still sitting waiting to be seen.

Been hit and miss coming to this hospital, but so far if I could rate this experience lower than a one, I would. Apparently it takes well over 4 hours to check on three patients. This is unbelievable

The RN that works in emerg is one of the most unprofessional rude people I have ever met. She should pick another career.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR BABY HERE. They will not run the appropriate tests to ensure your baby is safe and healthy, they will just turn you away. Disgusting.

Avoiding nuisance calls vs. Trying to speak directly with someone regarding my mother's cancer diagnosis - guess what their priority is.

Sloppy useless unorganized 2 separate visits 2 completely different outcomes and for the same thing felt like last time professional this time nightmare makes no sense

Had to head to ER after a nasty ski accident. I was lucky and it wasn't busy. Top notch work by the whole team from admissions, triage, though x-ray, and large wound stitch up. Thank you team. I'll be hobbling around for a few weeks,
but you did fantastic work. I'm not wishing to be back any time soon, but I'm glad you have Collingwood's back.

Triage nurse and dr were both professional and courteous. I was assessed quickly and the proper testing was completed without delay.

Having issues with high BP. A requisition was submitted to the hospital for a 24 hour holter, 60+ days ago. After 2 follow up calls to my GP I was told today the hospitals 1 SINGULAR holter is broken and parts not due in until February. Now I am being referred somewhere else. What in the actual reality has the hospital running with 1 monitor! GP also told me the hospital had not told any practitioners in the area their singular monitor was broken. Guess there will be a long list of at risk people waiting

My mother in law would like to thank all the kind doctors, nurses and ambulance workers for helping and caring for her in time of need! And having to put up with all the aggressive people on a daily basis!

On Thanksgiving Day, I fell down two stairs and dislocated both ankles. Extremely painful to say the least. Paramedics were very friendly and made me comfortable in the ambulance. Doctors and nurses at the hospital were extremely attentive. Dr Roger (unable to remember last name) recommended I have surgery back in Toronto where I live. Recovery was amazing from the doctor resetting my ankles and placing casts on both legs. I would give 10/10 stars to this hospital and I have reason to believe that a country lifestyle helps with the attitude of the hospital. Very caring and supportive. Keep up the great work!
A message to patients: a simple please and thank you goes a long way towards awesome care in hospitals.

Second worst hospital I’ve ever been to. (Norfolk General takes the cake) Some of the staff are nice but the nurse I was stuck with couldn’t be more rude. She felt the need to minimize the severity of how I was feeling in front of many other patients, which only made me feel infinitely worse. It’s been 4 hours and the hospital is empty yet I still haven’t even talked to a doctor. Thanks for making a terrible experience so much worse! Don’t go here unless you have absolutely no other options, and even then I feel sorry for anyone else who has to come here. No matter how minuscule the issue.

Waited three hours just to be told that nothing was wrong with me without even checking me well enough and AFTER WAS TOLD TO “watch Netflix, sleep and take Advil” yet here I am a day later with my family doctor saying I have strep throat AND tonsillitis:) great help that this hospital is! (Sarcasm) don’t recommend going here.

A person is dying in pain and nurses are rude and wait time is horrible. Went there as i had chest pain and had to wait 3 hours. Horrible horrible experience.

I had shoulder surgery done Aug. 16. My experiences where awesome. From admitting, preparing for surgery & in the operating room to recovery room it was interesting & staff where compassionate. I'd go back to CGMH for surgeries. The administration, nurses, operating room staff & doctors are amazing. Thanks to all.

After a three and a half hour wait in emergency, I was ushered into a dirty room; an insect scuttled across the floor, the floor corner areas were filthy, the window had a shattered lower panel where someone outdoors could see in, there was a sheet of paper over the window on the door that left an opening along the bottom where any passersby could observe someone changing, the medical instruments on the wall/light fixtures etc.looked like something out of the 50's. Cleaning staff are NOT doing their job. In short, the Collingwood Marine Hospital is like a 'Third World' medical facility. Added to that, in order to facilitate shorter wait times, cases should be divided into two groups of serious and less serious, so those with less serious issues aren't bumped if a serious case comes in. Hiring more doctors, would and should, accommodate this. Decisions regarding a new hospital must be expedited and set into action without delay. At present, it is totally inadequate and an embarrassment to the larger community and its ongoing needs.

Fiancé was at Hospital as he was getting worse after having a cold for 4 days. Arrived complaining of trouble breathing and coughing up mucus to a point he was unable to breathe and sleep more than 3 hours at a time. Sat for 5 hours and the doctor finally arrived and told him everything was clean when he hadn’t even had any tests done. Completed an XRay after and was advised he would just have to let it pass for the next 4 to 6 weeks. Took him to RVH today and in the same time frame they performed an XRay, ran blood work and performed a CT Scan. Doctor determined he has pneumonia. Collingwood hospital is always very quick to determine nothing is wrong. Understandably they have less staff and resources but does not excuse the lack of effort to find the cause of very obvious concerns he was having. With the influx of patients and COVID protocol RVH was outstanding in process and care of the patient.

My husband and I welcomed our son at CGMH back in November and the care we received was absolutely wonderful. Huge thanks to the team of doctors and nurses whose calm and knowledgeable approach helped us navigate during such a critical time for our family.

Went for my yearly mammo and had a prompt check in at front lobby. Was greeted by a helpful volunteer before mammo waiting room and immediately ushered into a change room with lovely new gowns! I was even 10 minutes early which they prefer! Mammo technician Rebecca was cheerful, thorough and gentle so please give her a raise!
In and out in no time and no charge for parking! Well done Collingwood Hospital!

I had the most amazing experience with my labor and delivery here. Every doctor and nurse that I encountered were very nice and went out of their way to help me and made sure I felt comfortable. Super thankful and grateful for this wonderful experience. 10/10 would recommend
Also really enjoyed having a private room for the baby, my partner and I! A luxury most hospitals don’t provide

My wife and I are new to the area and have been to the hospital on 3 occasions now. I realize that all of our hospitals are under strain, but our experience has been stellar. The team that do imaging are particularly wonderful.

I must complement the Staff at C&M Hospital for the Care I recieved during my very painfull visit June 7th. THe Nurses and DR.in the Emergence dept.for detecting the priblem and contriling the pain. The surgicle team of Surgeons & Nurses & DR.for staying late after a full day Operating and repairing my problem. THANKYOU THANKYOU

This hospital is absolutely HORRIBLE! Wait times are 10x longer than any hospital id ever been too, staff is not knowledgeable… the place needs a total revamp & clean slate of staff starting with the ER

Garbage experience. Terrible service. They booked me an appointment, to which I showed up on time for. Just to find 18 ppl in front of me. Maybe appointment means something different in a hospital.
Save yourself the time and go to meaford.

Severe back pain I can’t walk or sit i literally waited for 5 hours in emergency room to see doctor and he hand over bunch of papers with stretching exercises on it what a joke this hospital clearly don’t know the meaning of emergency Plz don’t come here on emergency

I have been to the ER twice now. Both times were horrible. First time my hands swelled with a bad rash, my wedding rings had to be cut off. The nurse was rude and uncompassionate. She pulled at my finger so aggressively, it felt like she was going to tear my finger off. She damaged my rings way more than she had to. Second time was with my 16 month daughter with pink eye, we had to wait 6 hours to be seen. It did not appear to be busy enough to warrant a 6 hours wait time. The hospital is so mismanaged and unorganized, and on top of that the nurses are extremely rude with so much attitude. Will never willingly go back.

I went yo Emergency with abdominal pain after being seen by two other doctors at different hospital who gave me no clue what's wrong with me. Dr Bolton in 15 minutes was able to diagnose me! I was so happy to finally being able to learn
the reason for my pain and take painkillers. The diagnose has been confirmed since then. He is just a real DOCTOR not a robot like I met at other hospital. I can only imagine how many people are grateful to meet The Doctor (!) who is knowledgable, highly professional and really cares. Triage nurses were polite and caring as well.

The hospital gift shop was super small but carried all the essentials you might need if you forgotten them at home. They also carry clothing items, jewelry, bags, etc. Snacks and drinks are also available. Friendly staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about the items in the store.

**DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY** Absolutely horrible staff, should be sued for malpractice. Friend was brought in by ambulance for a head injury, they didn't even check for signs of a concussion or brain injury. Knowing full well she had a history of concussions. They also took away her phone and refused to let her contact anyone at home (this was especially distressing since she has a fear of needles and has underlying mental health issues). Staff also lied about discharge and getting her a cab. They made her wait 2 hours letting her believe a cab had been called but we had to get one ourselves after that time. Different staff members also lied about discharge information. Some saying she was on the way home and had tried calling us several times (our phone records definitely dont line up with that) while others said she was nowhere near discharge. Overall very traumatic experience and lack of proper medical care. The paramedics were more helpful in helping us reach her by phone than the hospital staff. Will need to go to a different hospital for concussion and stitch follow up

Went to Emergency after breaking my wrist 2 months ago. The triage nurse, nurses, and doctors were amazing and friendly. I was diagnosed and treated within an hour. Am grateful to live in a county with universal healthcare!

I was skiing down at the Blue, got into a ski accident broke my hip. I went to Collingwood General for emergency. I waited for around 6 hours but after that the service was A1 and quick, i know they are short staff that why there was waiting. Treatment provided by the doctor and nurses was on point and very professional. 4/5 just for waiting in emergency.: (

If it weren’t for the incredible staff, this would be a one star review. So first off, the staff here are amazing, and compassionate and patient. They were all amazing to deal with and got me through as quick as they could. The building however is an embarrassment to the Canadian medical system. It’s like a third world country hospital. Waiting room was tiny and filthy with torn chairs. COVID patients sat in an enclosed space with non COVID patients. Floors look like they haven’t been cleaned since the hospital was built. Holes in the walls, filth everywhere. Just a building that should have seen a full renovation or replacement years ago.
Thank you to the wonderful staff who go to this dingy building to brighten the days of others and truly help.
I’m embarrassed by this hospital with the amount I pay in taxes though.

We recently moved from Toronto to Collingwood so this was the first time I had to use the hospital. Can’t say enough of the great service, from the front desk to the pre and post-op nurses and doctors. Everyone was polite and cheerful and put me at ease. Special mention to Camay and Trish. Thanks ladies!

If you have an emergency stay way from this hospital, they take there time attending to people, i took over 1hr to just be seen by triage and only a few people ahead of me, theres no sence of emergency in this emergency hospital

They saved my life. The waiting room is not first come first serve. Level 1s and 2s are going to get priority over level 4s and 5s. An example of level 5 is a cough.

Nobody cares here. I personally don’t know if doctors know the meaning of emergency. I waited 5 hours just for the treatment of itchy eyes. I mean seriously nobody come to ask me or anyone single time, nobody tells you the waiting time. I can feel the pain of others who’s situation is worse than mine. Local dispensary back home is way much better than this hospital.
