A beautiful park and skating rink. No rentals or areas to sharpen your skates, so come prepared. Went for skating, which can get a bit congested on the weekend, but overall had a wonderful time.

If you're looking for a fun and unique winter activity in Toronto, I highly recommend checking out the ice skating trail at Colonel Samuel Smith Park. I recently had the pleasure of visiting the park and trying out the trail myself, and I have to say it was an absolute blast.

The skating trail winds through the park and offers stunning views of Lake Ontario and the surrounding landscape. The trail is well-maintained and clearly marked, making it easy to navigate, and there are plenty of benches and warming stations along the way where you can take a break and enjoy the scenery.

One of the things I love most about the skating trail at Colonel Samuel Smith Park is the sense of community that it fosters. There are always friendly skaters on the ice, and everyone is eager to help each other out and offer advice. It's a great place to meet new people and share in the joys of winter.

Another great thing about the skating trail is the variety of skating conditions. Some parts of the trail are wide and straight, while others are narrow and winding, offering a fun and challenging experience for skaters of all skill levels.

Overall, I had a fantastic time at Colonel Samuel Smith Park and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and unique winter activity in Toronto. Whether you're a seasoned skater or just looking to try something new, you're sure to have a great time on the ice at this beautiful and welcoming park.

This Rink was the training Ground of my Kids they are all Pro ice skaters, since they don’t have experience in hockey but now they are all super! Thank you

No skate rentals or sharpening but a great place to skate and bring friends and family to. No hot chocolate either.

Cute little skating spot. Try to skate towards the center of the ice as the edges are rough. But as long as everyone is being reasonable it's a good spot. If you are looking to chase your friends around on ice, a regular Rink is better. This one is lacking surface area.

Great skating trail. I've done a few skating trails in Toronto and this is the original and my favorite still. The main reason is that the trail goes though nice wooded areas where other skating trails (e.g. The Bentway) are surrounded by ugly concrete or are in open areas

Great place to go skating. The trail is not too long but is a fun figure 8. It’s long enough for some casual skating and great little kids. Their indoor change rooms are roomy and clean. They have bathrooms inside which is a nice bonus.

Well maintained skating trail but quite busy. The Zamboni gets on the ice around 4: 30 and it’s like skating on butter after

This is a really great ice rink in Etobicoke. Unlike other ice rinks that are just circular this one has a figure 8 with some foliage in the middle. This design makes the rink a little bit more natural and aesthetically pleasing. It’s a great place to bring yourself your friends or your family.

Great skating trail. Well maintained and lit area. Always a good crowd but not overly populated.

The actual skating trail is great, only issue is that there is no zamboni schedule. Roughly once an hour but it takes forever (usually at least 30 mins), so depending on timing you will likely have to wait a long time. Not great for kids when its cold.

I went to this rink on Monday Dec 27th around 6 pm (which is a day off). It was super overcrowded hence the ice quality was pretty low even right after the surface cleaning. Also it didn’t feel safe skating there with so many people, if someone fell others would fall over. It would be a nice rink if there were less people though. I really liked the indoor changing facilities.

Great place, even if they don’t have the best ice surface in town. Doesn’t matter. Love the Charlie Brown Christmas vibe here at night. Wish they had music!

This is a different skating experience. Instead of a typical Ice Rink, it is a Figure 8 and is a fun skate. A few things to note below.
-Free Public Skating (Located within Humber South School Grounds)
-Closes at 10pm (Staff & Lights gone)
-Green P Parking (only free on the weekends)
-There is a building seconds away from the parking lot where u can put on ur skates n not freeze ur fingers
-The building also has washrooms
-U can also change in/out of skates out doors at the 2 seating areas by the Skate Trail
*Not a good place for new skaters (even though there r workers for safety & Skate Boxes for new skaters (Like training wheels for skating)
*Kids under 10 must wear skate helmets
*Most of the skaters here r Teens & College Students
*Fast pace skating
*For those who are BIG on safety, there r no boards to cling to. If u go off the skate trail, u r going flying into bushes, trees &/or big rocks.

Samuel Smith is a interesting place for several reasons. There are lots of paths for walking, jogging, bird watching and just relaxing. You will see people fishing, just relaxing enjoying the sun or just listen to water hitting the shore. The park does have a nice large off leash area for dogs as your coming into the park. Remember leashes are required in other parts of the park. There is wildlife there nesting in the spring. You will see a lot bird watchers and photographers in the park.

Nice trail for walking. The air is clean, lots of trees, not very busy during the weekdays. My golden retriever loves it, so do I:)

Skating! On a trail! What's not to like? Nice large indoor area to change into your skates. Sometimes not Zambonied as much as one might hope, impacting the quality of the ice

Nice rink but parking costs money depending when you go. Green P pricing so it's alright. It has indoor facilities to change skates/keep warm and bathrooms as well. Recommend and a cozy skating area.

Perfect place to spend family time. Free parking weekends, washrooms, inside facility to change

A well maintained ice surface in a curvy loop of a decent size. Indoor changing facilities with (open) storage cubbies for your boots. Plenty of parking. No snack bar, so if you need that sort of thing, bring your own. There's a Tim Hortons nearby, but little or no public parking by the store. A favorite destination for families, and lots of beginners (of all ages) were on the ice while I was there. These factors combine for the one smallish drawback-bottlenecks of skaters can form on the not very wide surface, making navigation a bit tricky at times of moderately heavy use. That won't keep me away in future, although I might well choose a less popular time to go.

Really nice outdoor skating rink. It's like a giant wavey 8. They also flood the ice with a zambonie frequently throughout the day and have an indoor area to put on your skates. There's also a really talented and handsome music teacher that teaches close by.

Fantastic skating experience among the bushes and trees. Get there when it's not busy and it's a great time. One of the best places to skate outdoors in the GTA

Very nice experience skating through the path but can become very crowded depending on the day, I enjoy coming here in the evening

My family loves this skating trail! The proximity to the lake seems to make it always a couple degrees cooler/windier than everywhere else in the city. We would love it if the firepit was used more often, as it's usually not in use.
Nice when they play music!

Love the ice skating trail here.
I like to go after the night ice-resurfacering which is around 7: 10PM.
Long opening hours. Free parking and admission.
FYI, they don't rent skates.

A busy day there today. Unique in it's figure 8 design, picturesque outdoor area with a warm indoor change room. Close to the lake - about a 5-10 minute walk to the shoreline, about a 5 minute walk from the nearest bus. Lots of parking adjacent to the rink. There's a bit of a dicey edge to the ice and the ice could be a bit smoother but it it regularly maintained. Nonetheless, lots of time without interruption unlike most indoor rinks in the area.

Fun place! Well maintained with heated indoor locker room. Can get very busy with lots of kids on the ice. Very family friendly!
02 March 2019 5:20
Great place to skate outdoors. I love how close the trail is to the lake and wooded trails. Being able to put skates on indoors is a nice perk if this trail.
01 March 2019 6:29
I love love love this path. I love that it's not straight and I love that it's near me! I highly recommend it. Paid parking still 3pm Monday to Friday.
17 February 2019 16:10
Fabulous well-maintained skating outdoor natural Trail facility with indoor change facilities and washrooms.
10 February 2019 21:36
Love the outdoor rink. There's lots of space for the kids to skate at all levels.it was pretty busy though. After 3pm there is free parking even though it is quite cheap to park during the day.

I love the outdoor bonfire and the indoor changeroom during those cold days
03 February 2019 19:50
One of my favourite outdoor rinks in the city! I love that it’s a figure 8 and the backdrop is really nice. It has a fire pit and an indoor changeroom/washroom which is accessible with skates.

What a great rink. I try to go every day after 3 on weekdays when parking is free. It is a beautiful spot and attracts s lot of watchers usually with their dogs as there is a dog park very close. The guy who drives the Zamboni Is very friendly and the ice is excellent for skating. Change area indoor for changing and clean washrooms. How can you complain about this facility.
27 January 2019 15:48
Nice public ice rink. Quiet when I went. Nothing around the place like a hot chocolate stand. So bring your own. But decent place and the ice was good
