Colonial Resort & Spa -1000 Islands

Our little family of 4 had a wonderful experience. The price is budget friendly and the grounds are charming. With both an indoor and outdoor pool and plenty of space for walking around, this gem of a motel was welcome after camping. Yes, the rooms are basic but they were clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend a stay here if you are looking for a sweet little place to rest your head.

They said the spa and other facilities are open on site but when we visited only swimming pool was open the spa room was closed

The grounds are pretty. The motel overall is quite outdated and the rooms need to be deep cleaned more regularly. Some rooms have carpet and some flooring. The windows were in dire need of scrubbing as were the floors and some items were dusty, for example.

The kitchen is not functional (renos) but there were items like yogurt, bananas and muffins available in the mornings. There are no microwaves in the room so don't depend on one to heat anything up.

My friend and I were bitten by bugs in our rooms as were some of our friends in other rooms. A complaint to the hotel first went unheeded (a manager has not returned our call despite requests for it). A report was later sent by our event planner that they found no evidence of anything. I would have liked more emphasis on customer support as we encountered a few problems with this throughout our stay including this incident and asking about local eateries.

It has the potential to be a fantastic property if attention is placed on the guest experience, cleanliness and even being the resort and spa it claims to be currently.

I haven't stayed at this hotel, but I have requested a refund within 30 min of booking a room. Harry at the front desk would not let me cancel, or even get a partial refund.

I understand there are policies in effect, but he was rude and the ''only thing'' he could do for me (and I quote) ''I can only offer you one of the good and clean rooms''.

Even if I am not getting a refund, I am not staying here.

My boyfriend and I stayed here. The staff are friendly, the pools were clean, the rooms were out dated but clean, the bed was comfy. Overall a great place to stay.

First of all, the name of the hotel is misleading. It is not a resort and it does not have spa. They may have the spa in the past but there is no spa service currently. There have both indoor and outdoor pool. The check in process is okay. The whole hotel needs a major renovation or makeover. The room is very outdated. There is no microwave in the room. TV is super small. The bed and mattress are not comfortable and the pillow are way soft and thin. The breakfast was horrible. The positive here is the location and a lot of green space. It is located at quiet place but easily accessible to downtown Gananoque. The place is over priced and we can get better place with this price.

Avoid. Rooms are so bad that washroom doors dont close.puffed due to moisture.very old interiors.highly due for renovation.stinky room carpets and bed.dull rooms. Waste if money.

We've stayed here often over the past few years and have always been very happy with our stay. This trip we've found the place needing a good clean up. The floor in our room was dirty and the bathtub had a used soap stuck on the side. The pool needs painting and cleaning along with the deck. However the people are hard working and I believe the problem is most likely staff shortage due to covid like so many other places. We love visiting Gananoque and staying here so will be back again.

The beds were prefect and the room was very clean and very nice and hoòpe to get back soon very enjoyable and they allow dogs all around great places to get a room

Hotel was way overpriced to start with (probably because of Covid, so sort of expected). Room was very basic, but at least mostly clean. Nothing special, but at least we didn't see any bugs! No maid service but that really wasn't a big deal. Front staff was completely useless at helping us find local food/restaurants. (We arrived after 7 p.m, very hungry, they had no suggestions whatsoever).
We booked for 3 nights (total $785 for what should have been closer to $100/night). We had to pull out a day early due to personal circumstances - told them on Saturday morning we'd be leaving Sunday instead of Monday. They refused to give us a refund. Said it was Expedia's policy and I'd have to talk to them. Expedia was very helpful and tried to get hotel to refund; they refused. I called the hotel and the manager said it was Expedia's fault, there was nothing we could do. So basically we spent almost $400 per night for something that should have cost us $200-$250 max in total. We will never be back there and I intend to tell anyone looking for lodging in Gananoque to avoid the place. The only nice thing about it was the grounds, which we did enjoy walking around. But there are much nicer places in Gananoque - don't stay here!

Le petit déjeuner est pris avec des assiettes, des verres en plastique ainsi que les couverts. Pas très écologique. En self service (y compris débarrasser la table)

C’est un voyagiste qui nous avait réservé cet hôtel en précisant bien qu’on avait un bébé. En fait, ils n’ont aucun lit bébé à disposition, nous a fait croire que cela n’avait pas été précisé et a voulu nous faire payer un lit extra, genre lit de camp pour le bébé, pas du tout adapté. Le voyagiste a essayé de négocier au moins de ne pas faire payer l’extra et ils n’ont jamais voulu. On sent bien qu’ils font ça vraiment que pour l’argent. Ça ressemble plus à un vieux motel de passage. Passez votre chemin

This was one of the worst motels I have stayed in a while… this is far from being a resort or spa. Room was not at all like pictures. Very outdated and uncomfortable beds. At pool side outside, very few chairs, and those available were mostly broken. No towels offered at pools. The «game room » has broken pool cues and one game «too far from outlet » to plug in. Finally, the toilet was NOT SCREWED IN and tipped over when reaching for toilet paper. In-room towels are small and thin.

The worst experience, very dirty rooms, there was blood stains of insects on the bed sheet, and scary part was there was BED BUGS on the pillows crawling, please stay safe people, the hygiene level for the rooms is very poor

Water pressure could be better but lots of hot water.
No microwave in the room!
Indoor and outdoor pool.
Good place to stay if you have a vehicle as the amenities are about 5 minutes away in the car.
Lots of attraction sites to visit!

À notre arrivée la chambre et la salle de bain n’étaient pas bien nettoyées.
La baignoire était sale, des cheveux des précédents voyageurs toujours présents.

Nous avons eu la surprise de ne pas être seules dans notre chambre, des puces de lit ce sont joint à nous. De quoi bien se gratter au réveil.

Le frigo était a deux doigts de nous rester sur les bras accompagné d’un bruit éreintant. Le sèche cheveux n’en faisait qu’à sa tête. Le néon qui scintille et très bruyant

Le séjour était l’endroit parfait pour casser une tongue, effectivement, on y restait collé au sol.

La piscine, le jacuzzi et même la douche était saturé de chlore.

Nous ne recommandons pas cet hôtel.

Le seul point positif reste son emplacement a l’écart de la ville et très calme le soir.

We went here 2 years ago and it was pretty good. We went again this weekend and will NEVER return! The room wasn’t cleaned as it should be. Cob webs in every corner. The lights didn’t work in 2 of the lamps. The wifi didn’t work at all. I called the front desk and they said they would reboot it, but still didn’t work. The continental breakfast is a joke. As soon as you walk into that building and up the stairs you smell
Something horrible, it makes you want to puke. We woke to tons of bugs in the room. They were coming in through the gap in the door. It was disgusting! We ended up leaving in the middle of the night because we couldn’t handle it! The front desk was
Only open til 11. I asked for a refund on our remaining night, but they denied it. I do not recommend staying here ever! To add to this review - I checked my credit card and noticed a charge of $70.50. I called them and they said it was because I had a pet which I did not! They said I checked off the box saying I did. I absolutely did not. Luckily they actually did refund that. It leads me to believe they are out for money however they can get it.

A very bad experience. Viraj was very disrespectful to us on call and disconnected once the payment was made to him for the reservation. First he confirmed room was available and then said no room is available. When we asked his policy he said there is no written policy as such! What liers….
Would never want anyone to go through this experience ever again! They don’t even deserve 1 star

A little upset. Had a very bad experience and he would even refund us our money. We had only been checked in for less than 5 hours. The fireplace didn’t work, the room was freezing as soon as we walked in it. The room wasn’t even cleaned, there was dirty kleenexes all over the bathroom floor and the bed wasn’t even made either. I ran a bath in the washroom and the water that came out was yellow. Disgusting. It also smells like the chlorine poor and I have a nasty migraine ever since.
Overall once again I wish there was a no star rating.

Aucune mention des horaires de la piscine intérieure sur la page de l'hôtel, normal: elle est fermée.pour rénovation. Aucune excuse ni tentative de rattraper la situation à l'accueil, réceptionniste plutôt glacial.
Chambre petite et sombre, les fournitures sont en nombre insuffisant pour notre groupe de voyageurs.

We loved Colonial Resort. Very warm welcoming, friendly employees, nice swimming pool, answers to all our questions and very comfortable rooms.
Too bad we couldn't enjoy everything they offer during Covid restrictions, but we'll definitely go again
