Colossus Greek Taverna

Let me start by saying that I love the Oakville location and hubby and I are regulars there. I highly recommend that location. But Port Credit? I hadn't been to this location in some years, and sadly, it has really gone downhill in food, ambiance, and mostly in service.

The main dish was delicious, but the salad was not a Greek salad. It was a soggy, spring mix swimming in a salty sea of dressing with far too much feta (I didn't think it was possible to have too much feta, but alas.). The dessert was okay, though a bit too sweet even for a baklava. The water tasted like bleach.

Having been recently renovated and expanded, the dining room was pretty, but with all the marbles and metals, there was nothing to absorb the sound of every fork touching every plate and every glass being set down on every table. Too many hard marble surfaces, I suppose? If you have sound sensitivity, this will bother you as it bothered me and I'm not sensitive to sounds.

The service was what annoyed us the most. Firstly, the waitress didn't even take our drink order. She skipped that altogether. We ordered saganaki and pita bread to start, and she brought out the saganaki minus the pita and didn't do the fun "opa! " light-on-fire and lemon thing. She left the cheese on the table to go fetch the pita but by the time she returned with it, the cheese had gone cold. Then she brought our main course out before the salad, and then returned a few minutes later with it like an afterthought, likely realizing she'd forgotten to serve it before the meal. She asked if we wanted take-out containers while we were still eating to which we said that we would, implying we'd want them after we were done, but she still brought them out while we were still eating our main course. I thought that was very rude. Once we'd paid the bill, it was pretty clear they wanted us out immediately, never checking in on us even to drop off some more water even though it was lunch time, and empty, so it's not like they needed the table or were closing up. The staff just kept walking by our table and staring. We felt very rushed and unwelcomed from start to finish. I don't think I'll return to this location again.

The karen who takes orders is very rude. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone, terrible customer service had to wait for my food for two whole hours.

My wife and I were out at Colossus Greek Taverna on Wednesday Nov 22nd. The atmosphere in the new location is as nice, and probably a little nicer than the previous location. We were greeted politely when we entered the restaurant and were seated promptly. Our waiter was Marcus and his service was absolutely incredible. My wife had a Calamari Dinner and I had the Chicken Souvlaki dinner, we also had the Saganaki as a starter! The food was incredibly tasty and came to our table hot! The Calamari was excellent and the chicken was so tasty and tender! If you are looking to get out for an awesome meal, this is an excellent restaurant with exceptional service and awesome authentic Greek Cuisine! Excellent experience from beginning to end. It was a party of 16 people celebrating early Christmas. The service was amazing. I highly recommend the sangria; and the homemade seafood/shrimp pasta dish. Both were very, very tasty! Also, the Mediterranean sea bas was fantastic and beautiful served on a long platter with a feast of vegetables. The whole experience will send your taste buds on a trip to Europe.

It's been awhile since we visited Colossus, since the pandemic hit and it was great to see them again in their new location (just next door) and again it was it another great experience only better. Not only the best menu offered at a reasonable price as always, and now the new venue only enhanced the experience. All the best to Jimmy and his staff who delivered a great meal now in a very charming ambience. Fantastic!

Brought my friend for a birthday dinner and was not disappointed. The food was great! Calamari was crispy and seasoned just right, followed by my crisp veggies n salmon. Everything was so flavorful! I was a little bothered by how close the tables were considering the current situation across the globe lol, but it wont stop me from visiting again! The hosts were so friendly and attentive, just an all around good experience. We were both really pleased! Definitely will go back!

A classic lakeshore spot to the neighborhood locals but a true hidden gem for people visiting Port Credit.

Almost everything is made in house fresh, they source only quality ingredients (supporting local farmers) and the rest is shipped in fresh from Greece (?)

Jimmy & Andrew S are two amazing guys who will do everything possible to make your meal 10/10!

Great food and service. The portions are quite large. Everything seems like it is made from scratch and is very tasty. The employees are courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. Certainly one of the best Greek food restaurants I've been to. Will definitely be back in the future. Highly recommended.

Server forgot our order. After waiting for an hour and thirty minutes server asked our order again. After waiting we just ended up leaving without are mains. Another server was really rude and tried to convince us that they didn't forgot the order but it was pretty clear it was as they were ten minutes to closing. The place was dead during that time. Would not recommend.

I was very excited to try Colossus as the reviews are always great. Unfortunately I was disappointed. I ordered takeout and the portion was very small for the high price. There was also a hair in my salad.

Sadly one of the worse dining experiences we have had in the GTA.

The service was very poor. The only reason why the hostess didn’t give our reservation away is because the walk in couple in front of us didn’t want to seat in the full sun. Our server paid us no attention, took a very long time to take our orders and never came to check on us throughout the whole dinner. We were never offered a second round of drinks or a refill for the plastic cups of water. We weren’t asked if we wanted dessert after our meal.

The food was also disappointing. The Avgolemono soup was served at room temperature. The sea bass was plain, with barely any seasoning. The tomato chunks in the salad were absolutely massive (1/4 tomato, making it very awkward). The spinach was clearly frozen and without any salt. The rice pilaf was mushy, bland and way too heavy and fatty. I wish I could say other items were the saving grace, but sadly not true.

All in all, we ended up paying just shy of $150 for subpar food and terrible inattentive service.

Too bad, as it seemed like it had great potential, and people around us seemed to be having a much better experience.

Just ate here (or rather tried to), got to the restaurant at 6: 30pm and ordered within 10 minutes. Waited almost 1.5hr for our food and it still hadn’t come. When we brought it up to them, they became very defensive and brought over a time-stamped receipt of when our order was entered, which was at 7: 14pm, a full 30-40 minutes after we had originally ordered. When we asked when our food would come, they continuously told us “5-10 minutes” and rudely told us our order wasn’t forgotten despite the fact that by the time we asked, the restaurant was already near closing and was clear that they forgot our orders.

In short, highly do not recommend, it was a frustrating and incredibly disrespectful experience.

Came in on a whim on a Monday and had a really nice lunch with octopus, the lamb sausage, pikilia and saganaki. The food was excellent! Better than in Greek town. Really exceptional quality ingredients that you can tell are meticulously sourced by the owner. The servers were also incredibly nice. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely be back!

We went in at about 1 pm Saturday. Small patio so limited seating. Excellent service right from the time you walk in. We tried different main courses and all of them were fabulous. The staff is excellent and do not exert any pressure on you to finish early cos there are fewer tables. They let you be to have a leisurely meal. The service, the food and the location are why I give it 5 stars and would go back again.

Ordered take out last week for my Mother In Laws birthday and the customer service during the ordering was exceptional and my in-laws loved the food! Excellent portions and hot and fresh! Keep up the great work guys!

They could benefit from a two line system, one to tell them you're here and pay and the second as a pickup window.and maybe a PA system.
So poorly organized.
The food is excellent, but the speed at which you get it is terrible. I was told to be ready for 6: 30, I couldn't get near the window to tell them I was here and still waited 40 minutes.
