Well organized yard. Friendly and helpful staff as well as the office staff. Yard was clean in the driveway of debris. Was a quick trip in and out. Also they have great prices for the scrap metal. Used this place a few times, will keep going back and highly recommend.

Heard great things about CMI from others and decided to give them a try. Someone from my work cashed in their motors and was paid a competitive price. Last summer, I called to inquire about pricing (particularly about washing machine motors) and was quoted for $0.38/lb. I specifically mentioned "washing machine motors" to receive an accurate quote which they confirmed it would be $0.38/lb. Upon arrival at the yard, after dropping off my dealer clips and heading to the warehouse to drop my motors, I was paid the 'low grade motors' pricing which was $0.15/lb. At the office, I asked again about washing machine motors and the person behind the counter confirmed that those motors would be paid the 'low grade motor' pricing. Was not impressed with the whole experience given that there was a decent wait before I could get into the yard only to not be paid what I was promised.

I have 10 years of experience driving forklift rough terrain machines also experience in past employers in scrap matel.i have applied to this company 4 times.the forth time I applied they said I wasn't a good fit and didn't have the quality of experience.the thing that gets me is the first time I went there in the interview they said we like if you dont give up we take notice of people who keep coming back it shows persistence.yea okay perhaps i dodged a bullet and a huge waste of time. Witch bring this thought into mind, if they can't see a good worker how do they pay a good worker, its scrap metal not a nuclear power plant.p, s they do seem to be hiring alot, speaks for its self

Ladies who work on weighing, always have kind, cheerful smiles.
Even at the end of the day, Alex kept her guests with a smile.

I read a lot of the posts in the comments below, but I couldn't agree with the comment that CMI was paying a low price or ripping off.
I am a HVAC technician and I often recycle scrap metal for work. I don't do this for a living but I've been to quite a few recycling centers not just Toronto, all over Ontario, and CMI is the best of the best.
From my experience, Not all metal scrap company has an ethical manner of doing business.

Since I remove and install very special types of A/C units, I get high-quality copper. Many places argue with CLEAN & DIRTY copper rads. I clean my rads, not just cleaning, I cut off each end of metal parts and dust it out. I know what CLEAN rads are and what # of coppers I bring in.

Last week, I removed and installed at Bruce Nuclear power plant and I brought CLEAN copper rads nearby Kincardine, Ontario.
Again, the guy argues about clean copper, and he was paying me a way below market price. I should get closed to $100 but got paid $31. I could take it back but my time is more valuable than dealing with crocked ownership.

In my experience with CMI, they always pay the top market price.
I do understand that sometimes they can make a mistake, too and I have experienced at CMI made a mistake before.

5 star all the way. Keep it up!

In terms of employment, the HR process is weird, they ask you for two weeks for a test and then they will decide if they will hire you or not.

Very good set up. Just when you bring scrap in you have to go get your money at the machine. There's a bit of running around to get paid. Overall it's pretty good.

Great recycling depot never an issue in my many visits.friendly staff reasonable prices and free drink or a hat at times. And like anywhere else you will encounter the odd meathead who is in a hurry to get his money and disregards the people around him. Thanks for doing a great job.

I would have given it a three if it wasn't for the staff. It was my first time there and like every other new experience, it was a lot to take in with little direction. They should have sign at the entrance that helps with the process like you must go to the scales before entering the yard and oh watch for on coming traffic! 2) wait for the person in the trailer to tell you to go ahead instead of reading a sign below the window that says proceed to the end to obtain ticket. 3) upon exiting the scales a person should direct you where to go.i asked another patron. 4) to leave you need to go back on the scales one at a time.i had someone right behind me that had to back out. 5) you have to wait for the person in the trailer to give you the ok or to leave the scales 6) they should tell you then to park, go to the trailer to get your receipt so you can then go to an machine to get your cash. Other than all that confusion and guess work, it was a good experience and they paid fair market values. I also wish they had a sign on where to drop off copper.

The whole experience at CMI is great, staff are always on hand for various jobs. Starting with safety, then you get proper direction & they'll even help you grade materials if you're not sure about it. They always give the best possible prices to. I've been a customer for awhile so I get increased prices on certain materials. I've gone to other scrap facilities in the past, nothing compared to CMI because they properly grade & give the actual going prices & dont try to nickel & dime. I will not go anywhere else, bottom line.
