Conestogo River Horseback Adventures

We had a beautiful day. We went on the 1 hour ride. The staff were great. The horses were very well trained and I felt so safe riding. The scenery is incredible and it was very exciting crossing the river. I would definitely go back and I highly recommend this place.

Gorgeous trail with wonderful views! Our guides Lizzy and Jack were extremely kind, and made the whole experience very enjoyable. I was assigned Peanut who was an amazing horse for anyone who is a beginner:)

Recently had the pleasure of embarking on an unforgettable horse riding adventure, and I must say, it was an absolute delight from start to finish. As an avid equestrian enthusiast, I've had my fair share of horseback riding experiences, but this one stood out in every way possible.

The instructors and guides were undoubtedly the highlight of the experience. Their passion for horses was evident in every interaction, and their expertise and knowledge put me at ease, especially since I was a bit nervous at the beginning. They took the time to match me with a horse that suited my skill level and ensured I felt comfortable throughout the ride. Their guidance during the trek was invaluable, and I learned some great riding tips along the way.

Such a fun time! Peaceful and relaxing. Blair and Meadow were amazing guides and the horses were perfect! I was a bit nervous, as it was my first time, but the team were very helpful and knowledgeable making me feel more comfortable! Highly recommend, I will be returning!

We had a fun experience the trail was very nice and our guide teachers were very informative and welcoming However our horse wasn't the best when it comes to listening. Our Horses were savages
half way through they put us through the test of our lives As all of us eventually fall off our horses because all of them wanted to go back to the barn so they suddenly just ran off, bottom line be prepared for falls and and an unexpected horse ride.

It’s tough to see these 5 star ratings. I went for an hour long ride on Hank the horse and I tried to enjoy, but it was difficult. These horses (not just mine, many in the group that was with me) are not very well trained and/or maintained. The horses do not listen at all to you or anyone else and they will do what they want. I guess if you enjoy falling off horses, getting injured, and getting knocked out by branches/ your horse walking you right into a tree then this is the place for you! One girls horse almost flung her right off. The saddle also kept sliding to one side which was hurting my right leg and I couldn’t fix it/ they didn’t help me fix it. I don’t think the saddle should move around that much + part of mine was broken. I know there’s many possibilities and risks of riding a horse, but I did not think they would just all happen in one ride. I don’t think I’ll go back because of how terrifying of an experience this was. The horses also didn’t seem to have any access to drinking water which is sad. I came here many many years ago as a kid and it’s definitely changed.

The trails were great! Going through the river was fun! The horses were beautiful with great personalities especially the one who liked belly rubs on bushes lol

We went on the trail ride with Nigel and Blair. They did an amazing job guiding the tour and making sure everyone was good on their horses, along with adding humour to calm the nerves! 10/10 recommend this place if you are new to riding or are an experienced rider! Will definitely be going back!

Kind and careful guides, wonderful scenery and fresh air, peaceful friendly horses, cute chickens, goats, ducks and cat. Just on the outskirts of Waterloo, but has completely natural feel. My friend who was terrified of horseback riding lost his fear! Highly recommend! (for anyone wondering, horses had no "horse" smell, must be that they are well-taken-care of).

Ok, I used to love this place so much. The horses were kind (some) but the conditions they live in is worse than pigs…. The mud gets up to their knees and there was arround 50+ horses in the smallest field posible. They make people ride their LAME horses. The owners don’t care about their horses at all, they make the volunteers do Everything. People there are rude and don’t care about you. You can feel very unsafe arround there horses and it’s not ok. Yes the trail rides are beautiful but let’s talk about when I was volunteering every was the most unprofessional/ unorganized thing ever. The place was filthy and full of trash. For crist sake a kid got ran over by a draft horse Gota concussion and a broken nose. The horses are chubby because they don’t have proper diets, and that’s why everyone falls off during trail rides. And people don’t blame the volunteers, it’s not our fault. I feel so bad for these horses, it’s extremely bad.

Great private trail ride with Nigel for a bachelorette party! Horses where well behaved and all equipment was provided. Nigel was so informative and calmed the nervous riders in our group and kept the experienced riders interested.

Would love to go back in better weather (it was raining and muddy) but our guide Nigel and bourbon his horse made it a great day. We all look forward to returning

So we booked this for my daughter's 6 birthday party. First of all I got quoted 195 for 4 horses, but we ended up needing only 3 and only using 3 but they charged us 230 and I asked why asked why literally their response was because they took the horses out but we didn't even use it and that wasn't even the worst part we booked the party room which was not cleaned at all the garbages were still full and not clean not too mention the coordinator came in and said that the party after us had decorations up and that we weren't to touch them or try not to disrupt them. It's was awful we had our party first and earlier on in the day so I don't understand why the party after us decorated prior. This doesn't even take the cake while in the party room we had workers walking in fixing things while we had this room book not too mention coming into our party room to use the washroom it was so disruptive we were definitely disappointed and would not recommend doing any parties here. The horses are beautiful and sweet, but your paying over 200 for literally a 5 minute walk I couldn't believe it, my daughter loves animals and we were disappointed that this is what they offered for this price. I have never been so disappointed in a place. It was not worth the money at all. We definitely deserve a refund for the horse and for the room absolutely disgusted by this. Again the animals are beautiful but horrible customer service you guys should definitely be embarrassed about how you handled this.

I booked a sleigh ride for the family. When we had snow Dec 28th. Was told 30 to 40 min ride by the river. It turned out to be a 20 min wagon ride to rim park and back on the road. The driver was good and it was still a outing but not worth the money

It was such a fun experience! Nigel is an awesome trail guide! I'm definitely going back for more horseback riding here in the future. Make sure you wear really warm socks if you go in the winter because my toes were numb by the end of it. They have a barn with a fireplace to warm up after the trail ride and the barn cats are so cuddly:) I think they should renovate the little kitchen area in the fireplace room into a cafe because I definitely would have bought a hot chocolate or cider afterwards.

We had a great trail ride, our 1st time riding a horse, our trail guide Julia is very nice and patient and help us understand horses, Highly recommend!

Julia is a friendly guide at Conestoga Ranch who showed us how to ride safely on the 2 hour trail ride with chances to do river crossings on the calm Conestoga River. A safe ride the whole way, we got matched with a horse matching out skill level. Was nice to chat with Julia during the ride, we had a nice conversation. The fields are beautiful in this area. A well run Ranch.

Very disappointed in this camp experience. Our son was signed up for Survival camp and had a terrible time. He wanted to quit after day 1 but we convinced him to not give up and stick it out a few more days. He went 4 of the 5 days. Reluctantly. We wanted to love this camp but sadly we wouldn't sign him up again.

We did the 4-hour ride to St. Jacobs, and it was a wonderful day. The horses were well trained and the terrain was varied (we went through forests, farm fields, and several stream crossings). We stopped for an hour for lunch. Tatyanna was excellent! I highly recommend the 4-hour ride. We will be back!

We had a fantastic time on the 1h trail ride this weekend. Our guides Val and Emily were awesome and really made it a relaxing and fun experience for us as first time riders. The horses were absolutely beautiful and obviously very well cared for and trained. I couldn’t recommend it enough and will certainly be back!

As they say this is straight from the horses’s mouth. Nice place for pony rides and horse riding.appointments required. We will try again. Kids enjoyed talking to horses.

Went on a 2 hour horse back riding trail. I really enjoyed it and we would plan more trips like these if the price was cheaper. I also enjoyed it so much that I wish we were able to ride the horses faster.

We enjoyed a beautiful trail ride and fire pit picnic with our kids and grandkids. The horses were great and the volunteers who staff the place were professional, pleasant, super helpful and looked after us beautifully. A wonderful day for all of us. Many thanks.

My husband, son and I went on a delightful trail ride with Courtney and Abby this weekend. Both Courtney and Abby were friendly and very professional which made our outing really special.

Lizzie took us out for a walk on the trail. She was amazing, it was our first time on a horse and we felt safe and confident the whole time. Great experience! Special shout out to Abel and Mabel

The most wonderful experience I’ve ever had in my life. I went twice with my friends and with my family. We enjoyed every moment going through the woods and into the river.will definitely do it again.

My daughter and I went for our first ever horseback ride and we couldn’t be more impressed with our experience. Our guides Val and Stella were wonderful and welcoming, they made us feel very comfortable. The ride was beautiful and it was the perfect end to our week. We are hooked and will definitely be back. Thank you Conestoga River Horseback Adventures and all the kind staff for giving us a fantastic experience. It won’t be our last A thanks to our horses for letting us play in the mud with them as well

My friend and I had a one-hour horseback trail, and it was amazing! Our guides, Stela and Courtney, were so experienced in what they were doing and made it even much more enjoyable for us! We also enjoyed Stela singing for us with her incredible voice. Thanks for the great experience.

Went horse riding for the first time with my husband and had an amazing time! Great experience with the horses and the trail leads Blair and Lizzy:) Spent an hour on a beautiful trail. Will be coming back in summer!

Took my youth group here and they loved it! Even in the rain! Emily & Meadow did a great job of hunting down our crew!

Emily and Kate were fantastic women trackers well besides I'm the one who got away lol great fun check out man tracker must do with the family or friends. Also went on trail riding twice shout out to Callie and Amilia fantastic horses the leading people on the rides were fabulous book your fun today!

What an incredible experience! It’s been years since I was on a bourse. Yesterday spent hours riding through the beautiful Fall foliage, to the adorable town of St Jacobs and then back to where we started. It was the best bday present and I would do it again anytime. Tatiana was our guide and was informative and amazing! 5 stars all the way.

I went on a trail ride for my very first time a little bit ago and my guide was Courtney! She was so sweet and I had a great trail! Courtney really made the trail so much better!

Loads of fun. Abby did an excellent job looking after us at the back of the pack. Highly recommended

VERY disappointed.
Been coming to this farm for YEARS, and have loved coming here because I just do, feel at home here and the family that owns it are warm friendly people.
I have referred many for camp programs and trails rides, it's local, and comfortable. At times, referral feedback has not always been the greatest, but no matter how I could relate, it was something I chose to personally dismiss and keep to myself.
That being said, I do agree that supervision is poor with camp scenarios,
and although I could elaborate more on personal experiences, I will leave the rest alone.
My biggest letdown as of recent, which has changed my mindset about this much loved farm entirely was a trail ride paid in full for my daughter and I that was to be one hour in length. This trail ride ended 35 mins in because of late comers. After calling to discuss the issue, the result was that the guide would be spoken to, there was no compensation for paying for something in full and receiving 50% of what was offered and expected. I'm saddened to say, but in future, will likely not return here. This situation was not dealt with fairly.

Couldn't have asked for a better experience with our trail ride today. Blair did an exceptional job ensuring we had a safe and great time. Looking forward to coming back again!

Saturday at 5 pm, horseback riding. Tegan and Blair were really nice and competent tour guides. It was my first time. They gave me Nickle, 18 year old horse.

I was at the back (in a group of 6) and Tegan was attentive, gave me tips along the route, shouted out instructions, and explained what my horse was doing so I understood and stayed calm.

Blair, at the front, would project his voice and occasional check in with us to make sure we doing well.

It was a very relaxing ride with steepness areas (so it's not just a boring level walk). The water crossings was my fav part (even if my horse/nickle was a bit. Carefree).

Will come again.

My son and his church youth group played Man Tracker last night at Health valley trail with Horseback Adventures and they had a great time! Lots of fun, horses and humans! I hike the health valley trail all the time with my dog and always enjoy seeing the horses and humans out enjoying nature!

Excellent experience. Blair and Abby were wonderful guides. Abel and Mabel were excellent horses. Mild-mannered beautiful creatures and very intelligent. Would recommend to all.

My fiance and I booked a 1 hour trail ride with Conestogo River Horseback Adventures for my Birthday and absolutely loved the experience! Emily was an awesome trainer and lead on our trail ride. I have never riden a horse before and I felt very comfortable with her instructions and caught on very quick. I would totally go again and would recommend it to anyone! Thank you for a fun day!

My girlfriends & I had a wonderful time at CRHA! The horses were well behaved, the trail was BEAUTIFUL & the guides (Blair & Melissa) were wonderful. 10/10 would recommend & I am already planning my next trip out there. Thank you so much for the amazing time!

We have been to horseback adventures many times, and loved every single visit! Today my 4 year old got to try out a pony ride and absolutely LOVED it! Our guide Melissa was so kind and informative.highly recommend!

Don’t bother sending your child to the camps. I was very disappointed with our first camp experience here. There was little to no supervision over the children in my daughters group (5-7 years old). Anytime I went to pick up my child they were unattended (a teenager glued to a cell phone isn’t supervised). I emailed to address this issue and received no response at all. When I asked my child if there was a grown up with them all day she said no which was my observation as well. Since the camp is literally on a highway I would expect legitimate supervision and more secure circumstances when I’m entrusting my child somewhere. Really not impressed, paid $350+ and pulled my child after 2 days due to the lack of supervision/accountability.

We had a very lovely time riding. Horses were very calm and knew exactly what they were doing. Definitely book the longer trail.
