Second time at this location. Alex the owner is very friendly and helpful. Same thing with his other location in Mississauga. We had congee and rice noodles. Service was fast and the food was excellent. Definitely will go back.
Staff are very rude! 10% tip was given and yet they were not happy. They told my brother before we left to give more tip the next time. My family will never go back to this place ever again!
Oct2021: Excellent location for this GTA centred restaurant chain. In particular, this location has a nice, glass walled patio area that is comfortable to use.
In my experience, the cantonese styled dishes are of a generous portion, a high consistent quality and delivered relatively quickly to your table.
I'm especially fond of the various congee dishes, the crispy fried noodles with seafood toppings, the fried turnip patties/cubes (mildly hot) and the shrimp or beef rice rolls.
Nice place for a cantonese style family brunch. The menus are in English so ordering should be straightforward.
My Dad loves Congee Queen in Thornhill. For my Dad, it is like going to a memory clinic where restaurant staff greets him and are always pleasant and patient.
Food and service were both great. We went to the restaurant on Saturday around 9pm and the restaurant was about 60% full. The restaurant strictly followed COVID protocol, the receptionist checked our proof of vaccination and our IDs before leading us to our table. I also saw that they disinfect each table after each the customers left. We ordered Chinese sausage with spare ribs Clay Pot Rice (煲仔飯), it was cooked to perfection.with crispy brown rice at the bottom of the clay pot, and not oily at all; definitely one of the best Clay Pot Rice I've had in Toronto. The beef rice roll and fish congee was also of good quality. I would definitely recommend Congee Queen to my friends.
Picked up take out from Congee Queen at Steele's and Hwy 404 last night. Just common dishes like fried chicken with rice noodle, fried turnip cake, fish maw with crab meat, and beef tendon. A total let down. None of the dishes have the proper taste. Fried turnip cakes were mushy. Rice noodles were watery. Fish maw soup was tasteless. Beef tendon is different from what I had before at the same location, probably still consider acceptable compare to other dishes from last night. I am wondering whether this is a one-off because the chef is off because of Thanksgiving Weekend. Anyway, it was a big disappointment.
We have experienced an embarrassing moment at Congee Queen today. My husband and I took our daughter for lunch at this location. We showed the hostess our proof of vacinnation and photo ID. But our daughter is too young to have any photo ID to show. Then she asked for her passport. Not all children has passport, we tried to explain to her. But she still asked us to leave.
They are currently allowing in door dining and each of their booths have the plexiglass to separate the tables. The portion is pretty good for the price. At lunch time you can get a large bowl of noodles with two toppings and a drink for just under $14. It's really large. Enough for two meals or to share with someone, unless you can eat a lot.
This's for the management of this restaurant regarding your servers. You need to inform your servers PAY ATTENTIONS TO YOUR CUSTOMER'S REQUEST: when customer requests several times for a separate bills for a take-out during ordering & the server reassureed the bills will be separate when ready to pay. But the bills was not separate & the different server handed the bill just stood there & looks like a dummy & did nothing to try to handling the situation. Is it called customer service? It doesn't matter how good your food are, if your server is not doing what's promised to your customer, your restaurant is just like one star rating, of course it'll not going to affecting your business, it's just another one of your tedious complaints. Who cares, right!
Back for the first time after a 18+ month hiatus due to covid-19. All the protocols were followed including taking a name and number down. They even scold the older patrons for not wearing their mask! Food is still good and portions are still massive. Our food seemed to glisten with oily Chinese goodness, more than usual!
Always a reliable place to get delicious food, the duck dishes, the pork dishes and shrimp turnips is something that you will never go wrong witb when ordering here.
From the moment you step in this place they give you a great feeling. Very comfortable hosts, it is a friendly place to to go out with buddies or with your date.enjoyable food, experienced chief cook and stuff, honest price and courteous service. Warmly recommended.
Amazing atmosphere and very personal service. The meals were crisp and delicious. Will clearly recommend this place to friends and family. Fair rates and large meals. Great job.
Came for the $7 half roasted duck special last week and was delighted by not only good food but also great customer service. Had to wait a bit in line for our pick-up order, but their accuracy in preparing our meal made it worth it.
We had ordered through the app and mentioned in the notes that we wanted chili oil, and was surprised to see they actually provided! If only the location closer to us could learn.
With a name like Congee Queen, I would be disappointed if their congee was watery, but even after an hour-ish car ride home, congee was still steaming and delicious.
I don't know why, but their packaging just makes sense and after re-heating some things, it tastes exactly as if we dined-in at the restaurant.
This location in particular is far, but absolutely worth the drive. Will return in the future!
The fish congee, the BBQ duck and the beef stew were so good. The foods were relatively cheap and the parking was not hard to find. I would definitely come back here for my future family and friend's get together.
There is always a wait here but is a popular location. Good amount of parking around the building. Interior is nice and cozy. The food is really good with a variety of options on their menu. Food is served relatively quick with good temperature. Seats and table setting is not amazing. Service is like any other Chinese restaurant; nothing exceptional with inattentive servers. Prices are okay with their portion size. Great place for family dinners and/or dates. Would probably come here again to try other things.
Best Hong Kongese food in the area. I've introduced one of my vendors to it as it's near his office. He loved it as did our entire certification class.
All our orders tasted great: seafood congee, Cantonese chow mein, Chinese broccoli, general tao chicken. The grilled calamari was especially tasty with just the right amount of heat. The establishment is clean, modern and tastefully decorated.
Our waitress Queena was polite and the SERVICE was promt and the food order was filled with surprising speed. Compliments to the chef. A more modern approach to fine Chinese cuisine. They serve more that just congee at this franchise. In my opinion a winning combination of good food and decor. Well managed business.
We had an amazing Oriental dinner. Young Chow Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Pork, Crispy Squid are exceptional. Make sure to make reservations especially on weekends.
This is always a good place to eat Chinese food. Has some dishes that are their creations. Nice environment a good stuff. Good portions. Price is a bit expensive than others but worth it.
Came back 3 times in one week. I am only in Canada for vacation for 3 days and have a limited resources in stomach space. What's else do I need to say? Give this place a try!
I given it a 2 because the Asian wanna be blonde waitress was crazy and rood, she started freaking out on my 3 year old for touching a pice of plastic Panel behind where we where sitting. THE PLACE IS NOT FRIENDLY TO LITTLE KIDS.
Food was good as expected, consistent with other Congee Queen locations. However, going there on a Sunday night and having a reservation still required waiting for 15 minutes as another table was paying their bill. Hopefully, they can respect reservations a bit better. We weren't the only ones that were waiting on our reservation.
Delicious large sized genuine cantonese food with a few other mixed asian choices. Clean and modern. Fast and friendly service. Always busy lunch and especially dinner. Very popular among Chinese Canadians. Fair prices.
Extremely disappointed by the congee at this place, even though it's suppose to be the "queen" of congees. This place does not match up to the level of food quality in GTA. Take your money somewhere else. Not recommended.
Came on the morning of a long weekend Monday with my family right when the restaurant opened, and there were already quite a few parties there. The food was delicious! We especially enjoyed the vermicelli and house special congee. The food was not too oily or salty, and very flavourful. The portions are also very generous - we spent around $60 for a very filling meal for 3 people.
The service was OK, typical Chinese restaurant service (fast but rather brusque). Overall, highly recommend this restaurant!
It is a favourite place for quick moderately priced typical Cantonese cuisine. Great for large groups. Deep fried squid and turnip patties are must try
If you are looking for delicious, large portions, fair price and served up fast, this is your restaurant. I had the scallop/shrimp congee and the deep fried spicy squid shared with a friend and we were beyond full. Four stars because, if they stepped up their customer service, this restaurant would be super amazing!
