Very spacious. It was well lit and clean. Even though it was very full and busy, it wasnt chaotic. Service was excellen. Favorite dish was the spicy turnip cake cubes.
Food - There are a variety of dishes to choose from, which is one of the reasons I love coming here. It is tasty and food protions. My favorite is turnip cakes.
Service- We had a reservation which they held. Often at asian restaurants, especially dim sum, you make a reservation, but then you have to wait a long time. They have QR ordering, which I like. The staff were quick and professional, which I appreciate. We needed a high chair, which they had.
Above and beyond customer service and excellent food! My family had a great time and we enjoyed the food to the max! I would definitely recommend all our friends, neighbors co-workers and relatives to dine in this Congee Queen at Commerce Valley, Richmond Hill, Ontario. Plenty of parking!
Despite the name, Congee Queen serves more than congee. It serves rice dishes, noodles, Thai food, and other Chinese dishes. The service is very efficient and you don't have to wait long for food. The food is delicious and the price is affordable. Highly recommended.
Food came out quick and hot. Enjoyed the Empress Fried Rice, Fish Maw and Crab meat soup, snow pea leaves and chicken chow mein.took home almost half the food for dinner later.
Haven’t had congee Queen since the pandemic began. Pre-pandemic this was one of our go-to places. They have many locations around the GTA and I’ve been to almost all of them. There are many dishes we like from their menu. For take out tonight we decided to order a mix of dishes we have enjoyed in the past and try a new rice dish.
1. Crab meat with fish maw thick soup: Delicious soup on a cold day. We like to add red vinegar to kick the flavour up a notch.
2. House super bowl congee: Comfort food. Not too thick, not too watery, good amount of ingredients. Perfect.
3. Lobster with ginger and green onion e-fu noodle: one of my favourite dishes. Decent sized lobster with good amount of meat. E-fu noodles are just the right amount of chewy.
4. Fried rice noodle with sliced beef & XO sauce. Normally we get the the non spicy rice noodle with beef so this was a new dish for us. So glad we tried it. It is tasty and is actually spicy for once but not crazy spicy.
5. Deep fried squid tentacles: normally we like this dish because have ordered it many times but this time it was too salty and not crispy but the lack of crispiness could be because deep fried items don’t do well when it’s ordered via take out.
6. Shrimp and chicken fried rice in cream and tomato sauce: Another new dish. Not really a fan. There was a lot of sauce so it made the rice very wet. In hindsight we should have poured in only half the sauce so it wouldn’t be so wet.
7. Shrimp and chive rice noodle roll: another favourite dish of hours. Was perfect as usual.
If you like Chinese food I would recommend you give Congee Queen a try.
They were in a big rush taking my order, my order never had any hot sauce which they used to include, nor they asked me if I wanted some or not, I found their congee tasteless without the hot sauce.
Congee Queen on Commerce Valley Drive is one of my favourite dining spots to catch some quality time with my Dad over meals. We are regular diners and enjoy the customer service from staff.
Huge menu with lots of variety. Congee is in the name and they do have many choices for that, but I think for most people the noodle soups and BBQ will be the main attraction. The portions are large and you probably won't need to spend more than $30 for two people.
Very nice patio for outdoor dinning. Food is consistently good. Love the noodles and fried rice entries here - they are generously sized, not too greasy and good quality food here.
HUGE portions.first time customer. Ordered three items for two people.couldn't finish it all and ended up taking a large container of soup home. Food was good. Service polite and friendly. Stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Toronto, just next door. Will definitely go back to the restaurant the next time we're in town.
Table queue numbers are generated by a computer screen on which you enter the number of diners and cellphone number to which the restaurant sends a text when your table is ready. A staffer checked our Covid documents and I. D. After a short while, our waitress gave us a piece of paper and pencil to write down our name and phone number.just in case tracing becomes necessary.
Staff was very efficient. Our waitress was super courteous.even gave us a free dessert!
Our order came quickly. The Singaporean daikon cubes looked doughy and indeed so after tasting, but still good. Mango slushie was quite tasty, but disappointed that it didn't come in a Mason jar as showcased on their paper placemats.
Prices have gone up since Covid, but the fermented black bean clams were overly pricey-$17!
Very Poor take out food. The BBQ duck are old and burn. I ordered half of the duck, they gave me all the fatty and burn skin part. Duck Meats is not fresh.
Food was pretty good until my group asked for the bill to pay. The bill came out to $105 and we left $120 in the checkbook. We left about 15% tip. The server looked confused as she opened the checkbook and asked "is this all? " I then asked if we were short. She responded "yes". I recounted the cash and then realized she was demanding us to pay more tip $$$. I was so mad I didn't say a word. My group felt humiliated amongst other customers. Listen up, I can understand if I shortchanged the business to put down more cash. What I don't understand is how can people be so rude knowing that it's difficult for others to dine in during the pandemic? Some of us have lost our jobs. Some of us have have taken pay cuts and can barely afford essential needs. To a business I chose to dine and properly pay, I would think twice before I speak to a customer demanding more tip. Some people have no shame and I plan on never going back. I don't even want to give them a 1 star but have no choice for this review to go public.
Worst Singapore noodles ever for $14. I asked for extra curry because the last time there was NO curry. There was some curry powder sprinkled on - extra nasty, no salt, over cooked rice noodles. Ordered 2 at $14 but we could not eat half of one.
I would really like to return this to the chef - and watch him eat his sad sad singapore noodles: (
I forgot about those nasty noodles. Went back today and they were just as nasty.
My friend treated is to takeout. I think it got worse. Could not eat the mysterious meat chicken or pork or phad thai
Good consistent quality but they give your number away to spam callers whether you give them your number for takeout or sign-in for COVID tracking. Happened exactly one day after my partner and I gave our numbers to them (after one day) and to a number of other friends (all eating on different days). Y u do dis, Congee Queen?
I ordered 1x roast pork and duck Rice and 1x fried vermicelli, the noodle is good but very disappointed for the rice, the roast duck is all bone, NO meat at all, as well, I didn’t received any utensils but I didn’t request NO utensils, I have to find the fork to finish my meal, very embarrassed
On the evening of December 15th, I ordered five dishes for my mom`s birthday. General tao chicken, stir fried beef with chinese broccoli, young chow fried rice, fried rice noodle with sliced beef, and 1/2 bbq duck. For that I paid nearly $90. None of my family enjoyed any of dishes, every single dishes were not fresh at all. They were just horrible and bland and had no taste to it. More than half of the food were thrown into garbage.it was total waste and I will never go back to CONGEE QUEEN again!
If there is a choice of zero star, or negative stars, then that would be it for Congee Queen.
Ordered 2 sets of BBQ Duck with thick vermicelli noodles tonight. However, one portion of the duck was full of meat and my portion was comparably very much smaller (7 pieces in total to be exact, with only ribs/knuckles). Initially, inquired the differences with a waiter and he said he will give us dessert on the house. I told him that is not the point and he returned with saying the BBQ chef had weighed both portions to be exactly the same and he cannot make any decision. Asked the same waiter if the manager is present or anyone can make decision but he said the manager is not present. Asked another waitress and she promptly asked manager to come over to check. Spoke with manager and he concluded that the BBQ chef weighed both portions to be exactly the same. Manager said no specific part of duck requested! (NO one knew you can request the part of duck to be given!) No apology was given. I asked order to be cancelled but no option was given to order anything else. Clearly one portion was the duck leg/breast, and my portion was only 7 pieces of ribs/knuckles. How is it same weight and fair? VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Have been seeing this restaurant full in the Mississauga location every single weekday each time I go by this place so presumed it must be really good to pull so many people The interior is beautiful with ample seating must be a hundred seater Each table has hot big flask with hot jasmine tea Awesome! Ordered shrimp wanton soup This tasted excellent so much of the sesame aroma and flavours Loved it A must try Next orderd crispy mix meat Cantonese chowmein This was average to good with excellent chilli garlic oil which we added in this dish The only thing they could improve is the service The servers were abrupt not very polite The overall experience was awesome! Would love to revisit this restaurant soon to try some more exciting stuff
Great food and that's all that matters to me and I have been everywhere on Thornhill and Richmond Hill and Markham, this is definately on top of the list
The decor of the restaurant is rather on a wooden tone on a darker shade. It is warm and inviting. The service was okay, nothing exceptional. The fried rice i ordered was good with kind of an al dente texture. The congee was a little disappointing as it is not the usual ingredients included in this style of congee. Overall, it was okay.
Really good authentic Asian food. The meats are fresh and the congee is amazing here. 100% recommend. The atmosphere here is always vibrant and good lighting. You can order take out of your favorite pork and the hot milk tea is flavorful.
Delicious food. Outstanding service. My son spilled his entire drink and the staff was so understanding. They cleaned it up quickly. The place was packed on a Saturday night.
Food was okay, finding a parking spot in this plaza where the store is located is difficult. The wait times are busy during dinner time and especially during weekends.
3.7 Inexpensive dependable good eats. All the Congee queens locations are same, which is really good. Fried turnip patties, chicken and duck congee and bbq pork & bbq duck is my go to order there. Nothing fancy but reliable. The type of food where if you haven't had it in while you miss it even though you are not Chinese. The type of place when someone tells you they never been there you take them. Where pigging out doesn't mean breaking the bank and you have left overs. So frills kinda place where there are big dining tables in the middle and booths on the edges.
Congee Queen in Thornhill is conveniently located near Hwy 404 & Hwy 7. The seating area is very large with room for individuals, couples, or small and larger groups. The menu options are extensive and food quality is excellent. The portion sizes are very generous and prices charged are very reasonable. If you are staying at one of the nearby hotels you should visit Congee Queen for lunch or dinner. You will not be disappointed.
Decent food and prices. The service is acceptable but can be a bit spotty when it gets full. Free Wi-Fi is a plus with access to a Pokémon gym and stop if you play Pokémon Go.
Came here to celebrate birthday! This place is quite busy and crowded. We ordered fried rice with salted fish and chicken, stir-fried rice noodles with beef, some sort of chicken, and stir-fried mixed veges. Definitely too much for 3 ppl lol and we packed half of the meal home for the next day. Price is ok, portion is good.
Delicious and quick service. We ordered a bowl of congee, bbq duck, the empress fried rice and the turnip cake. We're very satisfied but I have to mention that the star is the turnip cake: it's crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside, not too spicy hot and stir-fried to perfection with shrimps. Very crowded on a weekend night but the atmosphere is nice.
Food is good. Although some dishes are not as delicious as other Congee locations. I would still recommend to others as this restaurant chain serves food in general.
Plenty of parking space in the location. The inside of the restaurant was very clean and staff was very friendly. I had the fish noodle soup with dumpling and shrimp wonton. The egg noodles were ok but the dumplings and shrimp wonton were very tasty! The bbq pork and squid tentacles were also great.
Food is average to above average chinese food. Prices are average and service is average. This would normally constitute a 3 star rating, but the 4th star is for the spicy turnip patties! MMmmmmmm
