The new system to book an appointment, as of February 1st, is a failure! The consulate staff published and bragged that so much work went into creating more openings to book appointments. A complete disappointment would be an understatement. It's a false promo for doing nothing.

Unbelievable.but true, there were maybe hundreds or more people in line, but they managed to answer to everyone with kindness, patience, and knowledge.
You don't see this everywhere.

Never in all my life have I met such stupid, incompetent and out to lunch people in all my life. MAKES ME ASHAMED TO BE ITALIAN

I have been trying to book an appointment for citizenship by descent for countless months. Checking the Prenot@mi website every day, multiple times a day, with no option to book an appointment. It is also impossible to contact anyone via email or telephone. Never a response. If they are overwhelmed by too many applications then they need to hire more people.

The worst! All I needed was an Italian tax code so I could rent an apartment in Italy. It's a simple form plus proof of ID. I tried for three months with this consulate. Every email I sent to them went unanswered. Visits are only by appointment, but it's impossible to make an appointment; I was just perpetually in a virtual queue to even make an appointment. You cannot phone them. I ended up spending a few hundred dollars for a lawyer to walk in to an office in some coastal Italian town and submit the form on my behalf - a few days later I had my tax code. Seriously!

If I can give 0 stars I would, just spoke to the rudest man over the phone pls don’t hire ppl who hate being alive.

Terrible terrible manners. Rude, unprofessional. I asked a simple question, he answered me and hung up on me. Didnt even let me finish speaking. If you hate your job so much, quit! It's not the first time you've been rude. It seems that you are always annoyed and in a bad mood.

The guard at the gate, I believe his name is Ali, is amazing! He is incredibly knowledgeable, patient & courteous.

Had an appointment, they allowed us early access while we waited. Very friendly, informative and considerate of my elderly mother.

Terrible! The website doesn't work. You don't get notice when you request an appointment until months later from initial time of request, which you can't confirm because the website doesn't really work. No one picks up the phone. The numbers they have on the site for citizens who are 70 plus also doesn't work. Can someone help and let me know how best to get a hold of someone there if there actually is someone there who could help?

The visa appointment booking process is a bit tedious as appointments can be hard to come by and far out. You also have to book individually, even for families. That being said, the actual application process was very smooth as we brought all the necessary documents, and we were in and out very quickly. We got our passports back the very next day - visas included!

Most frustrating experience. I have been calling for over a week. My husband and I are going to Italy in the spring. Schengen visa is needed. There are no appointments available on their website before we leave for Europe. We are very stressed out that he will not get the visa before we leave. The phone system is rigged. An automated voice tells you what number you are in line for getting a live person to speak to you. However, several times this week, I waited for over 45 minutes in the cue, and finally I am caller number 1, and they disconnect the call. My husband and I feel lost and don't know what to do to get a response and assistance. We are applying for this visa three months in advance, and no one from this office is helping us. No response to calls or emails. There are no appointments available online.we joined a wait list and it said there are over 500 people ahead of us on the wait list. I wish higher levels of government could get involved and hold this consulate office accountable.

I have been constantly sending emails and refreshing the website for getting the appointment, but nothing is working at all. I have booked everything, and my flight is in May 1st week. I am clueless of how I am going to travel to Italy. If somebody in consulate is reading this, please help!

I've aged ten years trying to get an appointment for citizenship by descent. Do they ever release any dates? ! It's mindboggling that the Toronto location still functions? ! They don't answer phone calls and always say the same thing, "keep trying".

Consulate staff were cordial and efficient. They got me what I needed and sent me on my way quickly and professionally - I was in and out in 20 minutes!

The Italian Consulate for Toronto is incompetent! The one in Montreal is more efficient and the wait is only 1.5 years but at least you can book the darn appointment and the Montreal office only requires a phone appointment and a week before, you upload your documents on the portal for the phone appointment. The Montreal office is way more efficient! Sucks to have to put up with the Toronto Consulate because we live in Toronto. You can only apply via the portal and appointments are never available! Also, the Toronto one requires an in-person meeting while the Montreal one is a phone meeting.

Does anyone work here? What a joke. I've been trying to book my appointment for citizenship by descent for the past 3 years! I've been trying daily and there is never any open slots! I keep getting responses via email that I have to keep trying everyday. Well, it's been three years of trying. Now I have to look into suing the Consulate and have a Judge in Italy rule on my case.

Been trying to get an appointment online via the portal for more than two years. No one answers the phone during operating hours. All calls are directed onto the site. I tried emailing and always get the same reply and same answer all the time, that there are no available appointments. This location is terrible. My relatives have better luck with the Italian Consulate in Montreal. I hope they fire the Italian Consulate in Toronto. He does absolutely NOTHING.

The only time you will see a good reviews is from non Italians.

I've been trying to get my passport renewed since 2020 when it expired. The online Portal is a huge mess. If possible, try and use a different way to renew documenti if you can.

The fastest visa service I've ever seen. I came to the consulate on Monday to apply and Tuesday I was so surprised that it was already in my mailbox. Just wow. Great job!

No one ever answers the phone. No appointments are ever available. It is aggravating how this consulate is still employed.
