I have been waiting for two months for help with my legalization of the degree, a letter from the university and official grades. They informed me that two documents arrived to be legalized but Global Affairs confirmed that there are 3 documents that were sent to the consulate. I proceeded to make payment for 3 documents and shipping and the payment was returned. I have sent many emails asking for instructions on how to make the payment correctly from Spain since I am not in Canada. I don't have anyone to help me by going to pay at the offices, plus I have called the legalization extension every day and no one answers. In the same way, I have sent emails to legalizations and the consulate in general and they don't answer either. I hope someone reads this and can respond to me, it can't be that they keep me for so long without a response, I need those papers urgently.

How are we supposed to get a Visa appointment with the consulate when they never release appointment dates? I applied for a visa 2 months in advance and have no response on call or email. I understand they work only for 3 hours but can you not hire people to communicate with applicants. Your service is terrible and frustrating. Please improve

Getting appointment wasn’t easy but when I got my appointment and I came in for my passport renewal it was a very smooth and easy one as the staffs are so kind and helpful as my appointment was on a national holiday I flew in from Winnipeg and I didn’t have my canada post return envelop because there stores weren’t open, I was already feeling hopeless that my appointment may be rescheduled as I didn’t have the return envelop but the staff that attended to me allowed me mail in my envelope on a later date. Gracias

We came from Saskatchewan for a spanish passport renewal and got such good service. The lady with the short hair was really nice and provided us with such good service and respect.

No one answered phone calls, emails, and they won’t let you in if you go in person without an appointment. No slots available for appointments either.

No one is answering to my phone and emails since 4 months … I am really frustrated now … this is the way the consulates work … pathetic …. I have booked my air tickets I need an appointment for business in Spain …. Please help … this is the last resort I can vouch for helpppppp

I have dealt with the Consulate in Toronto for over 20 years and up until recently the service was always very efficient, friendly and attentive. My latest experiences beginning in 2023 have been nothing short of torturous due to the complete lack of communication. If you send in a formal request by regular mail or email there is no confirmation whatsoever that your request is being worked on or if it has even been received. Follow up emails and voicemails go completely ignored. If you go to the Consulate in person to inquire (because they ignore your emails and voicemails) you are stopped by a security guard who tells you to scan the QR code and go online between the hours of 12 AM and 6 AM to try and make an appointment. Unfortunately, if your particular process does not qualify for an in person appointment then you are out of luck and just need to wait at home in silence and hope that they are working on your request. In all likelihood your request may end up getting done in the end, but there seems to be a policy of NO COMMUNICATION or response to any doubts you may have. This is a terrible experience and the cause of much stress for people who need the consulate’s support in navigating these often complicated processes. Very disappointing especially compared to the way things used to be at the Consulate in Toronto.

I have not been able to book an appointment, the website is always down and has been down for several days. I went in person and was just told again to
wait for the website to work and book an appointment.which I have been doing. I need to homologize my diploma as soon as I can and I cant even get an app

Can anyone please let me know how on earth are we supposed to get appointment with this embassy? I have been trying every week Sun, Mon & Tue midnights but nothing happens! It always says no hours available. And they won't even reply if you contact them asking about this. What do I do? Ridiculous.

I am so impressed with the service provided as it only took 3 weeks to process my visa (keeping in mind it was the holiday time). I wish I could provide more stars because I am so appreciative of how fast the service was! Thank you/muchas gracias!

I read the negative reviews before going there for a Schengen visa but I thought my situation would be positive. My papers were complete and very organized, and we were going to Spain for a cruise from Barcelona.

The lady working there, with a non-friendly attitude, didn't want to take my application because I am not spending enough days in Spain to entitle me getting the Schengen visa from the Spanish Consulate. I explained to her we are going on a cruise and sleeping one night in Barcelona before spending most of the week in the ship at sea, but she wanted a document listing which country I am at during my vacation, even on sea days when the ship is in international waters, otherwise she told me to go get the visa from another consulate!

For the next hour I was struggling and stressed to try get that document from my travel agent, but as I expected no one could get me something like that because it doesn't make sense. Finally I was able to get that document and submit my visa application. I was asked a fee higher than what's stated in their website.

A whole month passed and we didn't get the passport back when we should have. I called them but no one answers the phone, so we went there and asked for the status. Same unfriendly lady told me they emailed the passport in the prepaid envelope I included in the application, but I told her I kept checking the tracking number and there is no activity yet. She still insisted they mailed the passport.

I ran frantically to the nearest Canada Post to further investigate the tracking number, fearing we have lost the passport. Canada Post told us they don't have that mailing package yet, so we ran back to the consulate again and insisted they search further and find out the whereabouts of our passport, and guess what? The passport was still in their drawer unprocessed after a whole month of submitting the application.

They issued us the visa in 5 minutes, but we left the consulate and swore not to enter that office again.

Made appointments to renew Spanish passports and it was very easy. They are so nice and efficient, in and out quickly.

I am glad that there are some who have had a great experience with this consulate, but I am not one of them. I need to get new passports, but as live in Alberta, I have to apply for it in person in Toronto. Not an easy thing to coordinate and very expensive needing to fly to Toronto and spend a night or 2 for this. Do you think that I can get anyone on the phone to talk to? Do you think they respond to emails? No. I have been calling a few times a day to try to talk to someone and never get through. I send an email and wait a couple days, then send another and so forth. No response. And unfortunately I have no choice but to deal with this joke.

Worst Online Booking system ever!
I’ve stayed many nights pass midnight trying to get a Shengen visa appointment, it is either fully book or website crash, no luck in booking an appointment and I’m travelling in 1 and half month, and appointments only opens up for 1 months after?
Not sure why you don’t give Appointments for visa when people want to travel to your country, no response to phone call or email in urgent matter either

I have read of many horror stories in dealing with this Consulate, but the truth is that they served me very well.

I received a response to my email within an hour, where they sent me a request form (for a specific document I needed) to complete. After sending the completed form back, I received a confirmation that it would be processed as soon as possible.

One week later I asked for a status update because I needed the document for an upcoming appointment, and again, I received a prompt response that it was sent by mail the day following receipt of my request.

I received the mail (in Spain) exactly 14 days after it was posted! This was a surprisingly painless and impressive experience, and I am happy to give kudos when it is deserved. ¡Gracias al Consulado por el servicio eficiente!

FAILED TO RESPOND TO AN URGENT REQUEST TO RELEASE CANADIAN PASSPORT IN ALMOST 2 WEEKS NOW. NO RESPONSE TO E-MAILS, VOICE-MESSAGES and VISITS! UNACCEPTABLE!

Ive had terrible experiences with some of the staff who work in this Bloor St location. Specially an older blonde lady. Just rude! I needed a visa to work in Madrid. A process that would usually take a week or so she refused to do. It was just a signature! Luckily the government of Spain had to call her to speed up the process. After that she adjusted her attitude towards me. If people like her don´t want to work why are they here taking up space for someone who actually does!

Shameful lack of communication, service and generally dismissive and evasive staff that made assumptions about why I was calling. The website appointment booking doesn't work if you are lucky enough to find it - I think the Consul General should be embarrassed - when I finally spoke to his assistant, she kept calling me "dear". What century are they in? The Consul General, Mr. Vega hasn't bothered to return my call. I really wonder where all the hard earned tax dollars go. Really shameful.

Excellent service on the renovation of my passport on april 14th, 2021,10: 20 am appointment. She was Punctual, Professional and efficient. The consulate has implemented a strict covid 19 protocol. Easy online appointment with a follow up notification from the consulate and clear instructions to obtain a new passport. Olè España!
