Very rude staff who don’t know how to answer a call or an inquiry, or they should get people who understand English. I think they have these offices to help out people who need certain services done.

This office is the epitome of incompetence and unprofessionalism. A dated website with misinformation and lack of professional staff made a visit for passport renewal a complete frustration. Forms on the website are apparently “the wrongs ones” and new ones had to be filled out in the office. One way of checking for status updates is to check their Facebook account. Absolutely ridiculous. Lastly, the bias against Tamil speaking Sri Lankans was very much blatant.

Fast service for travel visa application, helpful employees. But cash only and make sure to bring exact change.

My sincere gratitude goes out to the consulate general, which offered me an excellent service during my difficult time. Especially I would like to thank Mrs. Anusha, I was able to obtain an emergency passport through her assistance to travel to Sri Lanka and she stayed in touch with me until I returned to Canada. I can't thank her enough for her great help. Greatly appreciate it!

Sorry! As a country, Sri Lanka will always decline! Laka's rules and regulations state administration is not designed to help the people of Sri Lanka, to make life simple, in short "it is not designed to make a country that you feel like living in"! I understood that very well during my stay in Sri Lanka.
I still remember how people rush to get work done when they go to an office. Old people, economically poor people, sick people.all of them are experiencing great sadness, bullying, scolding from employees, no place to sleep, no food, little water, no toilet, no money. After being stuck in buses, walking, getting sunburnt for days, it's a good time!
All this came to my mind after many years, because today I went to the Consulate General of Sri Lanka to get my expired passport. Because after I went to Sri Lanka twice in 2019, I couldn't go back. After a holiday, I got up early in the morning and traveled about a hundred kilometers to reach the consulate. Upon entering through a beautiful door, there was a traditional Sri Lankan office. There is no place to even get a number. There is no order. I thought I was Sri Lanka. If there is a Sri Lankan office in North America like this, I thought, what are the stories about Sri Lanka?
When my turn came (in order of arrival) I went before the other people around, because the staff doesn't control it. At first, as usual, my application was said to be wrong, but the lady gave me one that said it was correct and told me to fill it in. I saw many people who came before me. I am filling the form. I think they are also wrong. Then they said that this is not the original of my birth certificate. They asked me to bring an original from Sri Lanka. I said that I have no one in Sri Lanka to do it, but the birth certificate that I have just given is from my school in Naland. It was returned when I passed out. Also, I said that this is my 4th travel permit, and this is the same passport that was issued for the last three times. They said that this is the same one that was issued for my other visas. It didn't work. They asked me to bring it from Sri Lanka.
Look, when I have my passport and birth certificate (copy of doctor's birth according to the consulate) the usual nonsense! The law has changed now, according to the new law, this document is invalid now!
You cannot get a new one with a 45-year-old document and a passport valid worldwide. These offices are there not to make life easy, but to make life easier. No matter where you go in the world, Sri Lanka is Sri Lanka!

Went for my baby girls birth registration today and the birth registration officer was the kindest I have seen in a government office. Process was done within an hour.
Make sure to call the office before going because there are specific documents you should bring so they can process the application without a hassle.
Also they accept cash only.

Ms. Anusha Kingsley is amazing! She was so nice and listened to our inquiries with patience. Wait time was minimal, too. We had a positive experience. Thanks Anusha
