80/20 principle at work:
80% (rarely bought products) - totally excluded
20% (the most bought products) - not only available, but also in their best quality.
In other words: excellent quality - good prices - poor selection.

I love all Costco stores. They usually have some really good deals but are often overcrowded
26 December 2023 6:10
Terrible cashier ruined an otherwise usually friendly experience. They were downright rude and spoke to me as if I was someone inferior not worthy of time. And this was when I was making a very expensive purchase as well. I really felt that they didn't value me as a customer at all and I'm never coming back ever again.

Return service center is really bad at costco nepean. They had only one person for both return /membership service when more than 30 people standing in queue in -10

I am not a member of Costco, I am going with a friend of mine and buying stuff if I need to. Prices are going up dramatically, especially fruits.
21 August 2023 19:07
We have been members for a long time.

I have noticed Costco has been getting a lot busier since the main stream grocery chains have jacked up their prices. Best time to go is as soon as the store is open in the morning. Never weekends.

Staff here are amazing! They also usually have stock of what I need and the books and toys section is great for Christmas gifts. The clothing section has a wide variety too. This particular Costco has much more selection of items than the GTA Costco's.
11 December 2021 8:25
Extremely crowded when i went saturday to the point where its uncomfortable to shop
Prices have gone up quite a bit since the last time i went (last year)
06 December 2021 5:43
I went 3 times to cancel my membership. In the end, even though they said they will not withdraw money from my bank automaticly, they again took money from my bank without permission. I think be very careful. How is this dealing with the customer? Unfortunately, the employees are also very rude. It's not just one time and one employee. I asked a question and got an answer in such an angry way that you wouldn't know. When I said I would make a complaint, I suddenly became a valuable customer.

Costco was good. There's plenty of parking, all be it a little weird to get around. There are lots of carts and the aisles are plenty wide enough to get around. Today was spent mostly in the snack aisle although I did wander around a bit after. Picked up a few other things as well. They have a person directing people to cashiers, but not sure why as it was absolutely packed in there anyway.

I like this store and most of stuff are very polite, however I had the worst experience in Costco ever. I went to pharmacy to pickup my prescription, so my tap didn’t work with their machine. That gentleman behind the pharmacy cash with tag name “Punnet” just cancel my prescription and nothing. I went to supervisor and she gave me a cash card (I appreciate her), but that man just told me again this is your fault and I am not sorry for this. He has the worst customer service in Costco.
18 November 2021 4:48
In and out within 30 minutes. With at least 6 items to pick, that is a record for a weekday, any day for that matter, LOL.

This location never answers its phone. Over a span of 3 weeks, with over 20 calls, I've never once had my call picked up or returned. Ordered a set of tires, given a 10 day window for their arrival, never heard from them. Went in myself to find out 3/4 tires had been delivered, asked that they could put on the front two to replace a blown tire, and was told it's against Costco policy and there was nothing they could do. Spoke to customer service in person, and days later was called to be informed that they would change the two I had requested, so had to drive back in to get that done. Asked specifically for a follow up call one week later regardless if the last tire arrived or not, and was promised they would. 1 week later and still no contact. Tire Center, Administrative and Membership/Customer service extensions on the phone all either hang up on you, or re-route you to the start of the automated answering system. Worst customer service experience I've ever had. In store the people are helpful to a degree, but if you need to order something to pickup another day, save yourself the hassle and go to litterally ANY other costco location instead. And never try to call with a question or request, unless you like listening to dial tones and the same Automated system on repeat.

What I like about Costco is that when I shop there the staff seems happy. From what I've heard the salaries are very respectable and they have decent benefits. If I were to shop at Walmart (which I won't) I feel like I'm supporting some sort of legal human trafficing ring that keeps people in a state of being able to survive but never thrive.

I really have to take a moment and recognize Nancy at returns she is so helpful and friendly. It’s not easy to work in a customer facing froze especially during a pandemic. But she’s a true gem and I would be so happy to an employee like her represent my company!

Thank you Nancy!

One of the best places to shop. Always liked to go there. Now I’m using their credit card and started saving too. With that said, sometimes the return service is slow and you might see the return desk lacking employees
16 October 2021 23:30
One-star until Costco drops Capital One as their points card, Capital One keeps screwing up and I‘ve missed out on hundreds of dollars in points.
10 October 2021 17:33
How possible to rate Costco stores? By comparing with other Costco stores within the city. 8 guess this is best from others so far
10 October 2021 13:42
This is my favourite Costco. It's always busy but there is A LOT of parking and I can usually find a spot not too far. They have a good selection of stuff and the staff is usually nice. I only buy my meat here, it's the best quality. The only thing is they always run out of boxes and that can be inconvenient.
10 October 2021 3:50
It's a Costco. Interestingly the parking spaces not right in front, (often all you can get) don't have the extra wide lines. One fallout from Covid protocols is that their restaurant service both better and worse, the self service kiosks for your order are nice but the packets of ketchup, mustard and relish aren't enough and I've noticed that the drunk machine is more often out of something because it takes longer to get reported.
04 October 2021 20:45
It’s Costco. Thank goodness the non essential aisles are now reopened so I can spend $300.00 again. Lol. It felt odd only spending $75.00 during a visit.
04 October 2021 19:57
I shop at Costco every week! Lately I've been avoiding this merivale location due to overcrowding and poor management. Nobody follows covid guidelines here. They encourage people with full carts to use self check out BUT we aren't allowed to pack directly into boxes. We have to lay tons of food on the tray and finally pack after payment. Walmart stopped this practice because not everything can be placed on the tray. And it makes checking out 2x longer.

It's a Costco. What's not to love? Having a family of 5, it makes things much more affordable to buy in bulk, and Costco makes that easy to do. As of writing this they have a referral promotion getting you and a friend $25 each and a few free items each when you sign up.
29 September 2021 17:34
Love Costco. What's not to love? ! Except, heartbreaking to not be able to enjoy the samples! Can't wait till I can nibble on a dumpling or taste some exotic cheese to help me make the best informed shopping decisions!
27 September 2021 21:58
Lots of great tasting pre-made ready to cook meals. (stuffed salmon is amazing)
Loads of choices for everyday needs and more.
Only issue is that it's a very busy location and can be hard to find parking.

Don't buy a refrigerator or major appliance from Costco.
They give you this beautiful 2 year warranty and 24 hour - 7 days a week Concierge Service which means absolutely nothing. Bough a fridge in February and it totally conked out in July. Waiting 3 weeks for service. Totally lost a fridge full of food and still waiting for a fix.
DO NOT BUY AN APPLIANCE FROM COSTCO

Got what I wanted/needed done. Fast, reliable and the staff are excellent also they follow covid protocol for our protection and theirs
20 September 2021 20:07
My husband and I bought 2 glasses frames from there and a lady who works at the Optical Department her name is Jody she was super nice and friendly she gave us great customer service.

What an awesome service we got from Domaneke, he help us as I referred a friend
Friendly, professional and respectful

Costco since last twenty years was my favourite while buying from groceries to building materials because of high quality, price and excellent customer services but two big problems are arising first this year the quality of vegetables and fruits are very bad for example rotten cucumbers or watermelon or pomegranate
Second at customer service when I want to return some bad quality stuff such a broken vacuum, they harassed me and nagged a lot while just I am following the store return policy
They declared unwritten and not declared policy
While adding verbal limitations
This is misrepresentation and against the consumer protection acts and the competition bureau regulations
In brief now Costco with the return policy on wall attracts the customer and kill the competitors but harass the customer within verbal limitations that it is absolutely illegal

Love getting large bags of whole bean coffee for great deals. I've also been pleased with the quality of the produce, the large box of cat litter that they carry, and the selection of body care products. Their employees are always on the ball and it's highly appreciated considering the amount of traffic that flows through the store everyday - you never have to wait that long in line.

Enjoy shopping at the Merivale (Ottawa On) location.
However, the self checkout is annoying!
The attendant scans half your order & leaves me unsure which items have been scanned unless I’m watching like a hawk.
Either scan the whole order or don’t scan anything as it’s too confusing. Especially when items are side by side.
This system doesn’t encourage me to use the self checks.
Attention management!

Had a really upsetting experience today at this Costco. I share a membership with a family member in my household from Costco. We received a rebate from our membership, called in, and was guaranteed that anyone from the same household with the same membership number could redeem the rebate. After about an hour of shopping and escalating to a manager, the cheque was not accepted. Employees, manager's and supervisors really need to be on the same page regarding these policies as a tremendous amount of time and money was wasted. As a result, probably about a $150 worth of frozen goods and meat were either wasted or put back on the shelf. Both the customer and the business lost in this situation. Just be aware that if your membership is in your name, your spouse cannot redeem it under any circumstances.

As usual your typical Costco shopping experience. This was my first trip to this location and it’s like any other. I always feel like I’m in the same building no matter where I go The selection of products is per usual though sometimes they stop stocking certain favourite items of mine and I always wonder when they will bring them back. Being this trip was my first during the covid situation I found some aisles were not available because they were ‘non essential’. Ridiculous! Otherwise I always have an enjoyable experience at Costco.

Self scan was a mess. There was a problem with scanning an item, I stood there for well over 5 mins with the flashing light waiting for help. There was a line of about 5 employees leaning on the wall looking at me not helping “wrong department? ” Don’t force people to the self checkout if you can’t guarantee a decent experience.
19 May 2021 20:53
It's Costco. -1 for how busy it is, but the staff I've asked for help have been friendly and helpful despite being on the front lines of Covid. Recommend you going early in the AM on a Sunday to avoid lines outside.
11 March 2021 21:19
This Costco has the worst customer service at the cash! Including their manager who makes a mistake over a mistake charging double and busy to reimburse you! Train your employee better!
Worst of it all is the self check out which they call “not a check out”. Technically if you go there the Costco employee stands right next you to help you. No separation or distancing. If you want people to use self check out offer a discount, other than that I will keep supporting jobs and won’t encourage this.
13 February 2021 23:12
Look Costco is amazing they are great low prices, Cheap gas, amazing meats
But their customer service sucks I know it’s a big and busy warehouse but at least keep someone at the administration office! I was trying to call them for 3 HOURS! 3! And still no one answered so Costco please just put one person at the administration office otherwise Costco is great and a cool warehouse

07 February 2021 19:28
Everything is good, except the check out guy didn't know how to serve a international member. He said my card is not valid which is not true. Hope he can get more training on this
06 February 2021 5:15
No one handles a seemingly endless lineup like Costco. Yeah it may look like the line is 3km long, but they do a good job of moving through it quick quick quick. You all know a lineup that long at Walmart would take until 2022 to finish, and that may not even be an exaggeration. This factor alone makes me want to go back.
03 February 2021 1:14
Costco may not be the prettiest, most pleasant place to shop but the service and availability of items is unbeatable. I love the staff there and the returns policy is simply better than anywhere else I have seen.
18 January 2021 13:56
Pandemic update 2021-01, guys and gals please avoid this store for the moment, they are clearly tired and distancing and customer behaviour is not good. Far too crowded and too many touch surfaces. Everything non essential is also in full swing, basically nothing had changed in this 'lockdown', with new covid variants this place is now a ticking time bomb. Still good but the Nepean location is hit and miss for finding stuff. It tends to mean you are made to go there more often than necessary on the off chance something you need or that you think you may need us there. The second one means that you overspend buying stuff that you technically do not need.
