I love this place. Been a few times and always good. The tartare is always wonderful and the specials are fun. Generally the service is good, my last time, server and door person were great, the manager or whoever stopped by our table made us want to leave and will make us consider if we return.

The server ruined my dinner. I think the server assigned too many tables at once. We were out of her hand. We should wait for a long time to see her. Other customers that arrived later than us placed their orders before us, and we didn't even get water until we left the restaurant. I had to ask for the bill several times, and it took for a while for it to be delivered. If a restaurant is not capable of handling many customers at once, it is better to get more servers or not take tables.

I absolutely love this place they have amazing food, great customer service and an incredible atmosphere! RECOMMENDED

A must try restaurant if you ever visit the Ossington strip!

One of the most incredible meals I’ve ever had. The beef tartare was to die for. Furthermore, the pricing was extremely reasonable for the quality of food & drink.

Will definitely come back!

Overall not as good as I expected…
The cote de boeuf which shows 48oz on the menu and per the name I assumed it supposed to be their signature dish, but the weight includes the huge bone and a lot of fat, almost 2 entire slices of the steak were pure fat and uneatable (#1 pic), so the real steak that can be enjoyed is prob around 20oz…. I would rather order two 10oz steaks which would cost a lot less.
Taste of the steaks were not bad but definitely haven’t gotten to a steakhouse standard. (Based on the 2 steaks that we ordered)
Potato for the cote de boeuf was flavourless.
Escargot was way too old.

However, Beef tartare was amazing, one of the best I’ve ever had. Would come back just for this.
Service was good, servers were flexible and were able to accommodate our needs.

Personally not a fan of their hard surface bar chair and tall tables, and the place is pretty crowded so people might need to settle for bar/outside to get seated

Their beef tartar is the star. Steak was average on our visit, both crust and flavor were lacking. Service could also be better.

Lovely steak frites- done to medium perfectly. Frites nice and hot made great dipping into the very flavorful jus!

Simplicity at its best. The food here is delicious and very reasonably priced.

We started with the Oysters and Escargot, and shared the Prime Ribeye for a main. The ribeye was cooked to perfection served with a side of seasoned vegetables and a smashed potato. The food is simple yet mouthwatering. Wow.

The host and sever were wonderful and attentive. They don’t take reservations so I suggest visiting earlier in the week if you don’t want to wait. We’ll definitely be back!

Lovely hole in the wall feeling French restaurant serving classics like escargot and braised duck. Oh and steak, duh.

Went for a 2pm lunch with a friend, we got there just after the restaurant had filled up but they were able to seat us at the bar. Super friendly staff and a really nice interior. We shared the steak frites and a daily special (chicken ballotine with truffle risotto) and both were superb! Best steak frites I've had in the city actually, would definitely visit again! Walk-ins only but I'd take the chance anyway, lots of places around to browse, get a coffee or cocktail if you have to wait.

You need to go there in person to put your name down to get a table. We came here twice and the 2 times, the estimated waiting time was underestimated. First time, we came at 8pm on a weekend and the second time, we came at 6pm on a weekend. We waited 2 hours. It’s a bit tough to wait so long to get seated. Both times, we were seated at the bar. We never had a table. The place is really small and they don’t rush the guests to leave. If you’re ok with this, you’ll be treated to amazing food. I think the chef is French and the staff is local. They love to sample the wine during their shifts. Recently, we loved our extra creamy truffled Brie with honey and delicious toasted bread with duck fat on it. I really liked my duck confit with red wine sauce and mustard seeds. It was not too fatty like it can be sometimes. The crème brûlée was really good too. Too bad they only offer 2 desserts only. If you’re vegetarian or vegan, there won’t be many options for you. There’s 2 bathrooms. The other time I came, I had a special lobster dish that was great. If you don’t want to wait, book a table with a bigger group at the back to get the full tasting menu. Would come back for sure but not looking forward to wait 2 hours.

One of the worst experiences at a restaurant ive ever had. The staff are incredibly rude (especially the hostess with the brown hair). They made us wait 2 hours for a table meanwhile giving away every table available to anyone else they could (and being incredibly righteous and rude) Terrible service and not worth the wait or effort

Beef tartare and Duck fat toast was the highlight of the meal. Steak was not so impressive, I might give it another try next time.

Above and beyond! There is delicious, and then there is the next step! That’s what this food is like! I honestly think this chef has found some super power within him to combine the flavours together. The tartar is out of this world, it explodes in your mouth with a firework of flavours you wish never stopped! The steaks are cooked to perfection, tender and overall superb! The salmon was so fresh, beautifully cooked and mixed so well with the sauce and a bit of caviar on top.
If you want to treat yourself to a delightful meal that will leave you not only full but will bring you divine satisfaction, this is definitely a place to visit!
The tartar is a must, so is the truffled cheese dish, salmon and ribeye!
P. S.we were so taken by our experience that I only but took three pictures. Maybe I’ll be adding more later, since I’ve been there twice already and have no intent to stop visiting. To my taste, best restaurant food I’be had in Toronto so far!

Both times we’ve been here, it has been a wonderful experience. Delicious oysters, cured in house meat boards, great wine, and OMG.the steak! The chef came out to speak with us with a question concerning my meal and the issue was fixed right away. Grace, our server was amazing and took such good care of us! Highly recommend!

Amazing service! Servers were so kind and friendly and make you feel so welcomed to dine here! Food is exceptional and it’s obvious the ingredients are high quality. We were lucky today they switched up their Bellini’s to grapefruit but I hope this options remains because it was easily the best cocktail I’ve had. It was a great idea to use grapefruit (compliments to the host/bar tender/server haha) *chefs kiss really helped cut through the richness of the meal! Highly recommend

Very gracious to this restaurant who helped my fiance and I host our family and friends for a private dinner. From the food to the attentive service, they knock it out of the park. I will be making this my go to for all special events. Thank you to the team at cote de bouef!

Arrived in Toronto Sunday. Cote De Boeuf was recommended because we wanted a good steak dinner. Was seated right away and approached right away and order taken soon after. We received our food within an hour counting from the time we arrived. Another waitstaff brought our food.steak was excellent. Service not so good. Our waiter never came back to our table, even though we were 1 foot away from the table he spent all his time with. We were not treated like welcomed guests. We were snubbed the whole time we were there. When we asked for the check. It took our waiter 30 minutes if not more to bring it. I observed him laughing and talking with the waitress who brought our food. Our bill had been sitting on the bar in a glass for quite a while. I could have gotten it myself. The place is tiny and tight. He could see us and we could see him. I would not go back to dine in, I'd just get a take out order. Food was good service bad. I'd give him a C minus

This is a lovely place if you want a traditional, high-quality meat dishes (all kinds of steaks and tartare offered). They age their own beef. It's a French kitchen. Incredible ingredients: tried and true recipes with a wonderful wine selection. We loved our experience. A lovely and intimate space, the servers were super relaxed and very informative. Not trendy or pretentious like some of the spots now on Ossington. Just exceptional quality. I would definitely come back for a cozy family dinner or a nice romantic date. A lovely experience, and yes, the frites are amazing.

One of the best steaks I’ve had! Incredibly rich and flavorful. The smoked salmon was also delicious and I’d highly recommend the crème brûlée!

It's really so, so good here. It's intimate, cozy, and romantic- good vibes all around. The quality of the food is really amazing- such good meat! Very knowledgable and present service. Only drawback is that you can't make reservations, which is not the end of the world because they would be booked out until forever. Can't wait to go back.

Went here for dinner and the food and service was great. The steak tartare was my favourite. Great selection of wines! The only thing I would change would be that I wouldn’t order the burrata tomato salad again as the portion of burrata was really small, looked to be less than half of a burrata which was a bit disappointing. Other than that - great experience!

Amazing experience! Great customer service, beef tartare is a must have, and ribeye was perfectly cooked to a medium rare. And don’t sleep on the non-beef dishes - the heirloom tomato salad with burrata was delicious. Will definitely be back again soon!

Get the rib-eye steak, get the duck, & let the wait staff charm you over.

Côte de Boeuf is my absolute favorite restaurant in Toronto: I love the atmosphere of this busy French-style farm-to-table restaurant, portions are generous, and they have a wonderful wine list. I highly recommend it!

Great experience last night. My partner and I sat on the patio and had a lovely time with our server. He helped with reccommendations for food and a great bottle of wine. Highlight was the ribeye and the tartare! Highly recommend coming here for the service and quality food.

I’ve been here twice and the first time was fine but the second time our order was wrong and the service was unbelievably terrible (I am a former server myself and have worked at establishments from bars to 5 star, fancy French and Italian restaurants. So I am speaking from experience in the industry). I had travelled a while there to celebrate my partner’s new job and arrived at 8: 03. I was told by the hostess that they stopped seating at 8: 00 exactly. I was going to leave but when my partner had arrived, he politely asked for a seat and pointed out it was only 5 past 8. They reluctantly gave us a table, and when we asked for a patio table we were met with an exasperated “…Sure. ” When we were sat we could hear the servers gossiping about us. Then when the food came it was the wrong order (steaks were over cooked & under cooked and potatoes even though we asked for fries). At this point we decided to just pay and leave because we weren’t having a nice time and explained the issue with the service, reassuring our server he was great though. The waiter seemed a bit defensive and said “Okay? ” in response to us politely explaining that we arrived at 8: 03 and were denied service & also met with attitude. When my partner went in to pay (not requesting any discount or anything), our server said he didn’t have to pay for the steak if he didn’t take it home and left; meanwhile, another server chimed in saying “No. ”, insisting he should pay. Additionally, they said my partner “pressured him into a seat. ” When in reality, my partner had just politely offered a nice tip if a seat was open. I am actually astonished at how awful the service was. As a server, I’ve always been so professional, accommodating, KIND, and customer-oriented to guests, *even* when they are rude or entitled! It is literally my job… & we were being polite and met with rudeness. I thought this was supposed to be a nice restaurant? Never going back there again and neither are my friends and family.

Their service was the worst. The foods were very salty, and we didn't feel like we were being cared for by the servers. It took a long time for the food to be served. Also, they seemed to have missed our order, and when asked when the food would be served, they said it would take five minutes, but the food didn't come out for more than 15minutes. They didn't admit their mistake, let alone apologize, and made excuses for why the food came out late. We feel bad for wasting two hours waiting in this restaurant.

This little hole in the wall is wonderful to stop by. We had the charred asparagus and 12 oz ribeye. For a place with beef in its name, their steak was only so so. Over cooked for medium rare and lacking the flavour profile of the advertised dry age.

The cocktails were good albeit the smaller than typical size. Staff were attentive and friendly.

Good selection of foods. Excellent quality and worth the price. Recommend the burger with frites if first time, so far the best burger in TO.

The steak, duck + desserts are just incredible with great staff in a totally unpretentious space. Chill vibes for sure. Perhaps one of the best French resto in Toronto too! Absolute must if your craving French or even just visiting the city and the ossington strip!

An exceptional and authentic French bistro with groceries (cheeses, steaks, wine). Always an exciting place to visit anytime of day. Their takeaway sandwiches are a secret but legendary, and sell out daily. Chef’s table available for reservations, everything else is walk in only. Dozens of superb wines by the glass, and all the usual classics. Daily specials defy imagination and ignite passions. Excellent service and management. Arrive early and be prepared to wait.

My partner and I had a lovely dinner here last night. It's a nice intimate space, the food was incredible and our server James was very friendly.

I'm really disappointed I can't recall my server's name because he was a damn treasure. Immaculate service paired with amazing food. Started dinner with some oysters and tartare w/fries.
Had the bone marrow special cause obvs. And went with the rib eye that had that beautiful crust, cooked perfectly med-rare and had that meat funk that you just want all the time. Thanks for dinner team!

This is the real happy ending story (let me explain further).
Arrive to put our names in the waitlist at 5.30pm, we were told the wait could be up to 2 hrs. We planned for this so we were ok with the time frame. At 2hrs mark we came to check-in and we we're told maybe another 15min. It ended up being 3hrs (we were actually already looking for another place to eat since it was around 8pm and we were starving). We didn't find anything (now we know it was meant to be) and they called us at 8.30pm to say our table was ready. Once we entered,
Super cozy atmosphere and very friendly host/server Brianna. Our neighbors at the next table we're loud and we were in a romantic mood (Anniversary) so we were a tad annoyed.
Food took a while and once it came, my husband's order was wrong. At this point I'm like damn we can't catch a break.

Brianna offered to bring some fries so he can snack on while he waited again for his food.

Once his food arrived, I was done with mine and I must say everything was delish. We ordered warm olives, steak frites and Butcher's cut AAA 12oz with garden veggies. Everything was great quality and really tasty.
Towards the end, Brianna found out it was our anniversary and brought us 2 glasses of bubbles and a dessert to share! The kindest gesture.
She chatted with us for a while and then gave us another complimentary top up!

Small restaurant with amazing dishes and excellent customer service. I really love this small French resto. It has a small meat/ cheese/ wine shop in the front and then in the evenings a very busy restaurant. Have a small patio in the front summertime with heaters in the fall. The owner is extremely kind and really is proud of what he has created. All of the dishes are extremely delicious. Have their menu + daily dishes which they are continually changing. Nice steak tartare, but the scallop crudo and terrine were stand out dishes for me. It’s a nice intimate ambiance. Highly recommend. Gets quite busy, so recommend going early to get a table as it’s a small spot on ossington.

The photos really won’t do the justice to the food here. Not my first time and definitely not last. We got ourselves a butchers table which comes at a price of $125 plus gratuities and a pre fixe menu (which can be modified for dietary restrictions including my own chocolate intolerance and not eating pork!). I haven’t had such delicious beef tartare in ages. The way the star of the night — cote de beouf— is done is worth every penny. And the crème brûlée at the end was a cherry on the top. Thank you to wonderful service, especially Julia! This is what I’d expect at all restaurants and this is why tipping exists.

I enjoyed our meal. The charcuterie was very good and steak tartare was done just right. We got the 50 day dry aged rib eye special of the night, which was about the same price as their cote de boeuf - while that was good, I didn’t think it was worth the price. I’ve had better steak for the same size at a lesser price somewhere else. They do get busy though, so the wait times between courses and getting your bill can take a while.

The Frenchiest food we've had in Toronto, really good, really authentic, cooked to perfection. Great meat, great staff.

I was always passing by this place and it was busy all the time and it made me curious about it. I just came here with my buddy and ordered 4 dishes to share. And perfect! Good portion, very tasty and friendly customer service. I guess it is a little pricey but it is worth it! I recommend you to try it!

One of the best places downtown for a fast snack or a full on meal, inside or out. Probably the best people-watching tables on Ossington.
We had a quick bite of escargot (plentiful, garlicky, and so much butter). We couldn't finish all the bread there were that many pieces. We also got the squash soup, loaded with crispy buttery toast, and topped with pea shoots and a massive hunk of creamy cheese. Delightful. 1 Negroni that was bigger than it probably should have been. Top end!

Really good steak. If it’s about the food & ambience then this would be a great choice…The time of day we went, didn’t really have to wait, service was great. Highly recommend!

Always get the beef tartare, highly recommend to have it with the duck fat toast to set it over the top.

Steak is perfectly medium rare and pairs so well with the skinny fries. Must try!

My friends ordered a burger and steak tartare and were very happy w their food. I ordered escargot and terraine de foie gras and that was good, but the escargot was terrible, sooo bland. It didn't taste like butter or garlic at all and it was overcooked. I would have sent it back, but it took some time to get my food and didn't want to wait again so I ate some of my brothers steak tartare. In the end my brother ate the escargot because he hates food waste.

Also note that you might not be able to order cocktails that are not on their menu though I'm not sure. I had asked for a French 75 which is gin, champagne (or sub prosecco/sparkling wine) lemon juice and simple syrup and at first the waitress said 'we don't have that' then checked with the bartender I guess, and said 'we can't make it'. Which is odd because I've definitely ordered it there before. So either they were out of simple syrup or lemon or didn't want to make it.

I had the steak and fries and it was delicious! I never had my steak done medium rare but I would totally have it again.

This is definitely a hidden gem! First off, I love their customer service. I ordered the garlic butter escargot. Oh man, that cooked beautifully - the taste and the texture is just perfect! The asparagus dish was very comforting and again cooked perfectly. Lastly, I had the beef ribs - super juicy and tender and the size is huge. I enjoy the fries and I believe the mayonnaise is house make? ! I definitely would go back!

This is one of my favourite spots in Toronto. And this is one of the restaurants I miss most for indoor dining - Côte de Boeuf is a very small restaurant with soul. It’s not about loud music nor the latest trend here. It’s about the classics - and quality. Made and served with heart. Also- I love French food, steak (all meats, really), frites.and the butcher & wine bar overall!

Must-order: The Magret de canard salad (special!), and the steak frites is I’ve also heard their beef tartare is amazing - and so I know it must be. And I’m pretty sure you can’t go wrong with anything at Côte de Boeuf.

Since they’ve had to pivot due to the pandemic, Côte de Boeuf has become an awesome takeout spot for dishes from their restaurant menu, prepared meals to be reheated at home, and a mini specialty grocery store with delicious fresh and pantry items! You’ll find high-quality cuts of steaks, delicious sides, charcuterie (cold cuts), cheeses, my favourite Truffle chips (Torres brand), and much more!

Definitely stop by and order from one of my favourite spots in Toronto - and one of the city’s most cherished spots.

What a gem of a place. The beef tartare is the best I ever had. Pasta with crab meat and green peas was stunning I believe it was a special that day. Would come back here in a heart beat.

My fav spot in the city for a glass of wine and dish from their simple-yet-exciting and ever-changing menu. Feels like home but better. I have to stop recommending CDB to people so I stop bumping into them when I'm there.

Amazing quality of food. I have gotten a few items to take home and prepare, and have always always been blown away by the quality and flavour. The patio that they have had open during summer 2020 is a real treat - well priced and of the highest quality. I truly cannot wait to go back.

Fave spot on this street - there are a lot of them. The staff are insanely warm, adding to the already comforting menu and cozy space.

We don't need this place! There's better cheese in Kensington Market. There's better meat at Cumbrae's. There's better wine at the LCBO. All 3 are less expensive than this place. Let it go!

Truly a warm and rustic little restaurant in Ossington. Had a fabulous steak here this one time with a couple of my friends! Great place to catch up with a friend or two, or possibly a date. Would come back soon!

This cozy restaurant definitely has a rustic feel to it. It’s quite the pleasant place to dine in. The washrooms are cramped but that is so minor. The quality of food is NOT lacking whatsoever. It may have beef in the name but don’t overlook their other items on the menu. The oysters are fresh and juicy. The duck is cooked perfectly, not fatty, and paired nicely with lentils. I definitely recommend this restaurant!

Coming here felt like taking a trip to Paris for a few hours. Amazing food - truly the best steak tartare in Toronto, and the most delicious fries! Reasonable lunch menu too, with 2-3 courses consisting of high-quality meat-forward dishes for $24-$35. The burger is phenomenal - definitely the best I’ve tried in the city. I’d give this place 7 stars if I could.

The Butcher's table is great with friends (min 6 reservation), bring your appetite cause it's a good number of courses.

Cozy, friendly and delicious! Very nice interior, feels as if you're having a meal in someone's home. Staff were friendly and helpful, very knowledgeable about their menu as well. Suggested wine pairing was excellent. Food was amazing.elegant without being arrogant. Overall a very good meal and night out.

Awful service! I had one of the worst experience in a restaurant. The waitress was disrespectful. They forced us to pay 20% of gratuity while nothing was written on the menu and nothing has been advised in advance. The service itself was slow and the group (of 6), could not eat together. I do not recommend this overpriced restaurant. Nothing can be saved at this point. Change you mind and go somewhere else!

Small place with a good atmosphere. Food was very good especially if you are a meat lover. But instead of 4-5 stars it will be 2 because the service was awful and very long (50 mins to get a steak & fries.).

The waitress was absolutely not friendly and no comment about the « house policy » with 20% gratuity for group already included on the bill at the end after a ****** service. What a joke. There is absolutely no mention of it nowhere so I kindly asked for information and the waitress was so pissed off. But next time you will tell it at the beginning or mention it on the menu, or at least just do a good service and deserve it.

I visit Cote De Boeuf for my fiancée’s birthday. We booked the butcher’s table in the back of the restaurant. The menu consisted of oysters, charcuterie, seared duck breast with a truffle and honey puree, and x2 cote de boeuf. The night was finished with a pot of chocolate mouse for the table to share. The service was perfect, the food delicious and the atmosphere charming all for great value. This is the perfect place for a small group of close friends to dine and laugh together.

I took my friend to this little beauty on Friday night. Eamon and his staff are AMAZING. They were very accommodating as we got there late. Had oysters and wine (great wine) then.we had the snails.which were delish. Thanks all.

We were at the Butcher Block table last night celebrating a friend's birthday. My first time there and I will be back. If you like beef this is the go to place. Great selection of wines under $100. All the food, and we had almost everything on the menu, was done to perfection, and our waitress was as good as they come. Restaurant and staff were not at all pretentious like so many others in Toronto have become

My friends took me here for my BDAY. I highly recommend the chefs table. The food and service was fantastic. Best duck breast I have ever eaten! A must visit I when in Toronto.

Been here a number of times for oysters and drinks but only tried côte de bœuf (a massive serving of dry aged rib steak) on my last visit. IT WAS AWESOME. This serving is good for 3 hungry adults easily.

This place (which is also a butcher shop) has a good selection of wine to go with whatever your palate fancies.

The place is tiny but cozy. Staff members are friendly. And every food item I’ve tried is delectably flavorful. Highly recommended.

Service was great, even though power went out, they didn't let it phase them.
The Tartare was the highlight of our night, I would totally recommend it.
