Courtyard by Marriott Ottawa Downtown

Room was ok but really noisy (we were in front of the Sky Lounge, SO NOISY and they're a lot of moron with noisy cars on the street).

Also, even if you pay 30$ a day for parking, you might not have a place if you come back later in the evening. This was no a good experience at all! I never experienced this issue in any downtown hotel.

Staff was trying to do their best, really!

Clean rooms and friendly staff. Very convenient location with access to pretty much everything. Excellent nightlife with access clubs and pubs on York street and local markets all around the hotel.

Courtyard, Ottawa Downtown does not provide any water, no water bottles nor any water heaters in the room. You are expected to pay for $7+ for two water bottles. Very disappointed, water is supposed to be provided for all guests. We have stayed in all Marriott hotels in the last few days (from Montreal to Quebec city) and have been given great customer service. It’s surprising how this Ottawa and Marriott hotel at that would scrimp in providing water to their guests.
Would never come back nor recommend this hotel. It’s a disgrace to the Marriott name.

One of the greatest Hotel in Ottawa. Excellent customer service, rooms are really clean and tidy. Shuttle bus waiting for you.
When I'm at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel I sleep well, room are quite.

Check-in was supposed to be at 4 PM but we reached around 1 PM. We called half an hour before we were reaching Ottawa to see if they could accommodate an early check-in and they were able to. We were grateful for their courteousness.

Everyone at the front desk, including the manager, was nice and friendly. Messages to the hotel from the Marriott app were always responded promptly. We had a few issues during the stay and the staff was courteous and professional in dealing with the issues. And the hotel's location was perfect, right in the heart of ByWard Market.

The rooms were newly renovated (although the desk seemed to be from earlier times) and seemed nice at first.

However, there were several inadequacies with the room/hotel facilities that left us
less than satisfied:
1) There was an issue with the door locks, although the staff, including the manager, addressed it after we brought the issue to their attention.
2) The tissue box in our room only had one sheet of tissue left when we checked-in, reflecting
incomplete housekeeping checks.
3) The toothbrushes provided was of very poor quality, much worse than the toothbrushes I've had at other hotels, as the brush was going in all different directions after just one use.
5) No in-room water bottles were provided, nor was there a kettle which I could use to boil water to drink/for tea.
3) We stayed in a room facing the streets. The soundproofing from the street seemed better but I was woken up several times in the morning by banging and shouting from the hallways.
4) I didn't use the pool but wanted the use the gym. It had a odd design where the room with treadmils is nice and modern but the room with weights and machines was on the other side of the pool and was extremely cramped. It could only be used by one person at a time. There was someone there so I had to walk away without using it.

Also, as some other reviewers have mentioned, beware of the WiFi login page! Even after you make the initial selection, it jumps to an intermediary page asking again if you'd like a paid upgrade to "high speed" WiFi, even for Bonvoy members, when some other Marriott properties I've stayed provided free high speed WiFi for members. It was not a great login experience.

Stayed for 2 nights over the weekend. Courteous staff, room was nice and clean. Kids used the pool. Easy check-in and check-out. Paid parking was also very useful.

I recently stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Ottawa hotel and was impressed by its convenient location and friendly staff. The hotel is situated in the heart of Ottawa, close to many popular attractions and restaurants. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with all the amenities you would expect from a top-notch hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, and went out of their way to make sure I had a comfortable stay. Overall, I had a great experience at the Courtyard Marriott Ottawa and would definitely recommend it to others.

Perfect spot to stay to walk around, eat and shop! Plenty of parking (for a price) clean room (showers were awesome) and felt safe!

Nick at front desk was so kind, courteous and friendly when checking us in and took great care in ensuring our needs were met. 10/10 would recommend this hotel and get checked in by Nick, great guy!

Good:

1. Room has an amazing look.
2. Very affordable pricing comparing to nearby hotels.
3. Service is good.
4. Quiet inside, traffic from outside cannot be heard.

Bad:

1. Sadly, parking was full on the day we came for check in.
2. Room had aggressive air conditioning that's you can't change speed of. They're noisy and very strong.
3. Sliding glass door to bathroom is not properly sound isolated so limits privacy to a extend.
4. Hotel wifi screen is very misleading and gives you plenty of opportunities to make mistake and pay extra for "higher speed" via manipulation of giant red buttons and small tiny red links next to them. I appreciate fact that reception told us about it upfront, but I feel the entire practice is pretty bad and should be changed.

Stayed two nights and the heater didn't work 1 night and shower didn't work.

We had a one night stay this weekend. The room was really nice and the bed was quite comfortable. Great shower too. It was weird that the restaurant was breakfast only; any hotel I have ever stayed in has had a full service restaurant, as in breakfast, lunch and dinner. What knocked the review down to 3 stars was the pool. The pool was the reason I chose this hotel and was happy to know it was open until 10pm. We got ready to go for our swim at 7: 30 pm, but it was closed. It did not open until 9pm. There was work being done on it/water testing. We did get our swim, and I understand that it cannot always be predicted when these things happen. However, the attitude of the staff was annoying. They claimed to have no idea how long the work would be. And the next morning when I mentioned it at check out, the woman sorta scoffed at me and said, “well, there is NO way for us to know anything about the pool”. Really? Because the pool is in YOUR hotel. Should you not know about it? Anyway, a nice stay overall and great location, near many great places.

Location is the main draw here. Right next to Byward market you can just pop out of the hotel and go to the market. The staff is very helpful. Nancy the manger at the time we visited was very customer first and hospitable. The bad parts are that the hotel smelled, like a lot. Maybe it's because it's older or the chemicals being used to keep things sanatized are leaving a bad odor. Marriott is my go to place when choosing a hotel but this one was the worst experience I have ever had. But again, I was on vacation and the location was perfect. There are restaurants and clubs in the market so lots of odd people will be going by. The doors are normally locked and to have to key into the hotel or be buzzed in by the staff. There is lots of parking available.

Hôtel bien, une partie en travaux de rénovation, il y a des hôtels qui le font. Il est bien situé, près de rues animés. Parc parlement du Canada, écluse de la rivière Rideau a proximité. Piscine plus que correcte, salle de sport en deux parties, cardio d'un côté et poids libres dans une autre pièces.
Parking payant évidemment pour la nuit.

Location is fantastic, walking distance to Ottawa’s main attractions. It is quite noisy in the mornings, as the hotel is on a busy street. Keep in mind the hotel is right beside the salvation army, so there is an influx of transients in the area.

Great location! The hotel is right in the middle of Byward Market and within walking distance to everything! Rooks and the hotel itself is very clean and our rooms were spacious and well maintained. The best part is location, location location! Lots of restaurants to choose from and you can walk to all of them. Breakfast at the hotel was fantastic! Definitely recommend this hotel.

Remember to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ. ᴄᴏm when booking a room. They compare countless booking websites and normally will have prices much cheaper than others! Thank me later! This place is one of the highest rated in this area. I've been staying here for a very long time. If you decide to stay here you for sure won't be let down.

Fantastic hotel. We moved here from the Marriott Courtyard Train yards location which was a complete disaster! The staff her made it up to us and we left completely satisfied. Thank you to everyone here, we will be back!

Clean rooms, convenient location, easy parking. Only thing is the soundproofing is kind of weak, also I guess due to the area it’s in and the demographics here the people are slightly louder than the quieter west side of Ottawa downtown. Overall, I would be coming back to stay if I wanted to be in the market area.

Everything was clean and tidy. Check-in was quick and service was friendly. The layout of the room was a bit strange. The door to the bathroom also included the closet and sink so you couldn't get ready while the bathroom was in use.
Location is good and walking distance to most of the attractions around Parliament.

Checked-in in the app but still had to wait in line to get "verified" and get the card. What's the point of app check-in?

Had to wait for a receptionist to answer several phone calls before I expressed my opinion on the ridiculousness of the situation. I'm already here, people who is calling are not. And I was there first. Make them hold. Seems like an easy choice. Some people are lacking a common sense and need some more training.

Bel hôtel près du marché by. Les chambres sont confortables et spacieuse. J’ai bien le système télé avec connexion directe à Netflix. Malheureusement l’hôtel ne possède pas de borne de recharge pur véhicule électrique (un must pour un hôtel selon moi aujourd’hui).

Positive: Parking and location in relation to the city center. Negative: not very large rooms and a bit noisy due to the traffic of the street below

Rooms are nicely appointed. Location is great. Staff are friendly. Parking is the only drawback - $20 a night and extremely limited and tight.

Perfect place, park the car and walk all over Byward Market up to Parliament Hill. Great restaurants and people watching!

Everything I need or want. Service is attentive and efficient. A lot of rooms only have showers, so I had to move to get a bath-shower.

We had breakfast at the Courtyard Bistro this week and totally enjoyed their new innovative menu. The food was delicious and well presented. The staff was meticulous, courteous and, above all, had smiles when serving us. What a great way to start our day!

The hotel feels more like a small motel rather than a hotel. I walked passed it without realizing that it was where I was supposed to be staying. The employees were really kind and I especially enjoyed sitting in the nice little lounge inside. The workers at the Bistro were super nice and accommodating.

Great place in the market to stay! Awesome food in the bistro too, chicken wings are reeeeaaallly good. James Deschambault was phenomenal at customer service. Highly recommend this place.

Rooms were fine. There was no continental breakfast. Parking garage was apparently full so they had us park a 5 minute walk away in some 3rd party parking garage which was extremely inconvenient with all of our luggage. A parking voucher was given to discount the parking fare from $44/day to $16/day but it didnt work and the front desk was very reluctant to refund the difference. Not that they can control the weather but it was also a crazy snowstorm and -30° so the walk to the parking was terrible. Not the most pleasant experience to say the least.
