Coutts Coffee Roastery & Cafe

Our go-to store in Perth. Coffee beans roasted on-site, various types of tea, baked goods to snack on.

We travel through Perth 5-6 times a year and somehow have missed hitting up this coffee shop until yesterday.

We tried a couple of their seasonal coffees, the Salted Caramel Mocha and the Maple Pecan latte both were excellent with the Maple Pecan being one of the best seasonal coffees I’ve personally tried.

Baked goods looked good, May have to indulge next time.

Oddly we seemed to get a team member having an off day. All the staff around us seemed to be having a blast talking coffee and hockey, while the person serving us seemed to want to get it over with lol. Sometimes you catch someone at a bad moment.

We stopped in Perth on our way to Peterborough at a highway chain and it took 20 minutes to make an iced coffee! When we stopped at Coutts on our way back from Peterborough on Sept 6 we had the best coffee of our trip across Canada (including Ottawa, St John's, Vancouver, Calgary) served by a very enthusiastic young man! Of note, we are from the self proclaimed coffee snob capital of the world - Melbourne Australia and we don't "gush" easily! The setting in the heart of Perth is charming and well worth the detour!

Came second time after a few years, I remember this place as one of my top coffee roasters. However, very disappointed this time. The espresso was off the balance, overly bitter and flavourless, or I should say it tasted like charcoal. It is ok (average) for cappuccino. We also ordered a scone that was actually pretty good. But for a coffee roaster can't make espresso right, I have to say it is no longer a good place to get coffee.

Stopped in for a cappuccino and given the background of the place being artisan roasters I was super disappointed with my coffee. The coffee was not smooth but watery and tasteless. It was more a watery americano with lots of water topped off with some foam. I had a lemon bar which was nice but too sweet for my liking. If the primary product is coffee I have to wonder why they cannot make a properly made cappuccino? The place itself is beautiful and cozy. It has the most beautiful views. I saw a comment posted by someone else with the same opinion as mine and the owner posted a dismissive response. Come on, you can do better! And no this is not different strokes for folks.

A brilliant coffee shop on the banks of a canal. They have plenty of seating, including a beautiful patio, as well as a good selection of baked goods.

Lovely spot to have a meeting. Food is great though sometimes pricey for what you're getting. Would agree the coffee can be a tad watered down at times, but still tastes great. I especially like their cold drinks as a nice refresher in hot summers

What a wonderful little cafe! Serving incredibly fresh pastries and cinnamon buns with a very nice assortment of coffees. The cafe is situated right on a small river with plenty of seating options, with inside tables, comfy couches, to riverside tables and even picnic tables on well kept lawns. The staff are very pleasant. I was wanting a cinnamon bun, and they just pulled freshly baked ones out of the oven. Amazing. Do yourself a favour when visiting the beautiful town of Perth, stop in to Coutts Coffee. You will be treated properly.

The historic building and riverside patio are lovely. If you want shade there is a covered deck out back. The coffee is amazing. The staff are friendly and helpful. I loved the coffee so much I bought it twice a day for the three days I was in Perth.
