Been a member at this location for years, before it became Crunch and ever since. I much prefer this gym to GoodLife or others I have also had memberships at. Here I feel like I can just focus on the workout, I enjoy the more old school weights, and they have everything you need. It does get busy especially at peak times, particularly with students from McMaster and the nearby high school. Just gotta make sure you go during quiet times, if you can.
Staff have always been great with me.
It’s not a bougie gym, but for people who want to get their workouts done and not pay crazy prices it’s great!

I’ve been coming to this location for about a year now and this is my favourite crunch location by far out of all the locations in Hamilton. Lots of space and squat racks. Front desk staff are great too!

Amazing place to workout, thanks to my husband who introduced me to this place! The staff is always extra helpful and kind. I just recently joined the gym but never felt such warmth!

My experience with this crunch has been terrible. The staff are terribly trained and have no gym etiquette. I went in to cancel my membership at the front desk with an employee. The employee told me that my membership had been cancelled and I wouldn’t be billed anymore. I was then billed for the next month and an annual fee which I was unaware it existed. I feel like I was lied to by the employee and stolen from. And all the manager did was say sorry and refused to refund me because I didn’t have “proof”. I do not recommend to anyone who likes trust and honesty.

Good basic workout. I really like the heavy bags in Waterdown. With many people working out it provides an incentive to work out longer. Usually no wait times for machines. Many different machines to address all muscle groups.

Have been a member here for years. My payment didn't go through for some reason and as a result they waited an entire two months before contacting me so that they could incur an additional late fee charge. Although they say they are required to reach out in a timely manner, they said the list is just too long and that's apparently why it took two months to reach out to me. This seems like unfair behaviour that shouldn't be taken lightly by any loyal patron such as myself. I never had any issues with paying them. I cancelled my membership immediately after agreeing to pay a total of almost $100 for the missed payments with late fees. (Normal charge was usually around $11.00.) So for 2 months they were able to pocket an extra added amount of almost 60 dollars! This is not okay, and will not be returning and will advise anybody I know/gym goers that this is not the business to sign any sort of agreement with as they will do anything possible to joust you for money.
Also, the facilities are usually smelly and at least a few treadmills are usually out of order meaning you might not even be able to get the workout in that you wanted, unless you're willing to wait.

Extremely disappointed by my experience with this gym. Did not notify me that I had been accumulating a balance during covid when the gym was CLOSED however was still charged every month for years, until I was placed in collections! Also made it very difficult to cancel - not able to do so over the phone or email for no good reason besides ‘club policy’. Would avoid

I’ve been going to Crunch for 3ish years now and feel so comfortable there. The manager, Jay, is so welcoming (along with the other staff) and helpful. It’s a safe and uplifting gym!

I love this gym,
Crunch fitness has every equipment you need to get physically fit.
It has a huge studio with big mirrors where you can dance and workout peacefully. They also offer classes that you can take & most of all its a safe environment with nice staff members.

Been a member with Crunch since January and it has been a great experience so far for myself and my husband. He loves the section in the back for deadlifts etc and I love that there are a variety of classes here!

Like a commercial gym with a good free weight area similar to a crossfit gym setting. Having both is good in 1 place. Equipment is very beat up in the freeweight area, some nearly falling apart. Every trainer I've encountered is not very smart though.

Reasonable membership rates, equipment hets repairs quickly when needed. Gym is clean and has lots of machines and free weights. Can be crowded at times and some people don’t clean up after themselves, but overall a good gym.

Spoke with Natalia, she’s extremely unprofessional, rude and yelled at me over the phone…the manager is never in to speak with them. They’ve charging me for two separate memberships that I never needed. They’re continuing to charge me every month, and refuse to look into the issue and solve this problem for me. I don’t recommend this gym at all, and I advise you to make sure you don’t get charged twice. Because they don’t take responsibility at all. I will escalate this issue to higher for sure.

Trainer Glen creates good one hour workouts with a variety of muscle targets. I'm happy with new strengths and 8 lbs weight loss over two months.

This location is for those people who want to lift. 2 floors of variety of equipment some older equipment but overall well kept and stocked. Depending on when you go it can get pretty busy but the location has a vast parking lot and a friendly staff who are always quite helpful and play good beats.

Best crunch fitness location in Hamilton. Really love the staff and especially the members that come here. The trainers are dialed in and know their craft and are more than willing to share it with new member and older members alike. Again, fantastic service at an affordable price!

Great facility, yet there are so many members you are shoulder to shoulder during a pandemic with 80% of people maskless.with the amount of people in the gym you have to wait to use the equipment. They should raise the price to limit the amount of people in the gym

Got my membership only for one year but noticed that i am being charged monthly. Wanted to cancel my membership but they did everything to make it difficult. First they wanted me to show up in person so i can cancel my membership! I had to call them hundreds if time and emailed the manager so i can cancel my membership. The manager behavior was inappropriate and employees are not helpful. Finally, I ended up canceling my membership with paying extra just to get rid of my membership (they called annual maintenance fee!)

Stay away from this gym! It doesn’t have anything to offer, just making you pay ridiculous fees every month. Customer service is terrible! I am not the only one had this experience, just see the recent reviews from other people.

This Gym place does not deserve even one star! They have bad Manager, rude employees. They don't have all services but charge you more. Tried to cancel my membership several times, end up paying more money at the end. Please don't make mistake as I did. Facility is very old and equipment out of service most of the time. Not enough mats for classes, if you find one you will be discussed by it. Do not get their membership! Be wise and Stay Away from them.

As a McMaster student on residence I would gladly take the 15 minute walk to come here. The gym is clean, but gives off a cool, Rocky vibe. Plenty of squat racks, benches, and weights. Have never had any problems with staff, and they are always friendly, and say Hi when you walk in. They could easily charge me triple, I'd still go, super affordable. Would recommend. 10/10. If you go to McMaster come to Crunch!

I agree with what so many other reviewers are stating here. It's a pretty low quality facility, and you get what you pay for. Dirty equipment, very busy and packed, lighting is really poor. When you try to cancel, you have to inform them IN WRITING 30 days in advance but if you inform them MORE than 30 days in advance, that doesn't count. You have to tell them like EXACTLY 30 days ahead of time to the day. Had phone calls with several employees that were never noted in my file. Sent an email on the website - it was never even acknowledged. Ended up paying an additional annual fee plus 2 extra months. It's so hard to cancel your membership here guys! Their business model is to squeeze every last penny out of their customers by any means possible and guarantee that everyone who leaves does so with a bad taste in their mouth. I recommend you find a gym that will treat people like people and not like cash machines.

Over 30 complaints about them to the BBB. Terrible manager who doesn't understand good buisness practice and literally said to me that good buisness practices are "debatable". Avoid this gym.

Was a member off and on for a few years because it is relatively cheap but remember that you get what you pay for. Cancelling is very difficult, communications from staff is poor and the gym, while very big and filled with equipment, is often extremely busy. I quit because of COVID in the Spring of 2020 and wanted to go back but did not like their cavalier attitude towards safety measures. Would not have felt safe there. Not recommended.

Beware of this scam gym. They make you sign up for 10$ but if you try to cancel within the first 6 weeks they charge you a maintenance fees (~$55) as well despite clearly stating that only 30 days notice is required for a full cancellation. They make all their money off of maintenance fees as is apparent from all their reviews, the management is shameless and exploitative. I visited the gym once and it was not the best experience as the sanitizing stations were not well stocked and there were no capacity limits due to Covid.once I moved I had emailed to cancel to which they hadn’t responded for weeks till I called them, then they ended up charging me a maintenance fees for a gym I used once. Soon after i took up a more expensive membership at a different gym and do not regret paying more money to get a better experience. On Sept. 15 I called and an attendant told me the downtown location is reopened now, at 5 am in the morning. Went the morning of Sept. 16 at 6: 30 and couldn't get in through any of the street level doors of Hamilton City Center, or the connection via Jackson Square since they were all locked. Called to see how I get in. Danon, the attendant, was completely useless. All he could offer was "we're open. " Never thought to verify location or any of that, even though I said "Main St" multiple times.

Definitely avoid this place.
Talked with staff in 2020 for cancellation. Still being charged until today. Came in to talk about cancelation. Manager not only denied to acknowledge the cancellation I requested last year but also punching on no valid records on their system and nothing he can do, even thou I didn't even ask for any refunds etc.
Hidden cost for cancellation policy.
Not recommended at all. Horrible services.

I have been trying to cancel my membership during the pandemic because I moved out of the country. They said they cancelled it, yet are still charging me monthly. My subsequent requests have gone unanswered.

When I move back to Canada I will not be restarting a membership with them.

I tried contacting the gym for cancelling my membership before they would charge me for their gym annual maintenance however, due to shut down they did not get back at that point however, I emailed them and went in person to the west hamilton branch to request for the refund and the manager clearly outright refused to give refund for the yearly maintenance fee they charge every year saying that it is not their fault and it is the government that shut down and they couldn’t respond at that time. Such a ridiculous response and no respect for customers. THINK 10 times before you join this branch!

I have seen other negative reviews on here stating that Crunch has been taking money from people’s accounts during closure and that it was due to a system update but this has happened to me numerous times during closure now. They also claim that someone will get back to you regarding your inquiry but they don’t. I’ve been trying to cancel for months and get back the money they’ve taken from me behind my back during the pandemic and have not had any luck. Apparently the 5-7 business day wait means closer to 5-7 months. I would not recommend this company or facility to anyone. They’re crooks, plain and simple and are trying to exploit the fact that they don’t have to physically face customers during the lockdowns.

DO NOT GET A MEMBERSHIP WITH THIS GYM.
I am really disappointed and upset over the lack of proper customer service I have experienced at crunch. Even when the gym is closed I am getting charged. For over YEAR I have not even entered Hamilton let alone the gym. I tried to cancel my membership months ago, then I was told to put my account on hold/freeze it for 6 months. When the 6 months were over they did not pick up because they were closed because of the pandemic, but as soon as they opened, they took money out of my account even though I never used the gym. I called again to cancel my membership but then I was told to email. In the time I had emailed, I called AGIAN to double check if my membership was cancelled. I was told again to wait for the confirmation email. When I finally got the email they said to CALL THEM again to double confirm my cancellation, while CHARGING ME FOR ANOTHER MONTH! They really play with you, there's absolutely no customer service, they don't care about anything except deducting money from your account. They just want to put as many delays as they can so they can take more money. I DO NOT RECOMMEND A MEMBERSHIP WITH THEM AT ALL.

I am continually being charged fees despite the gym being closed and having been told my account would not be charged for the remainder of the year as per my request due to covid. My efforts to fix this have been constantly rejected. There is no interest by this company to do right by their customers. Do not sign up for any reason. If I could rate lower I would. They are thieves.

Terrible gym. Equipment is always out of service, staff are rude and do nothing. A lot of the times the papertowels have run out and they do nothing but sit there and chat. The garbage bins are overflowing too. The equipment is old, rusty, and dirty. Not worth the money, better to invest and join a gym that actually cares about their members like GoodLife. The other members workout with music blasting on personal speakers or taking phone calls on speaker phone loudly, and staff do nothing about it. I also got charged while the gym was closed during covid. Would strongly NOT recommend any crunch, as Ive had worse experiences at other locations.

Terrible customer service and very shady business practices. Being continuously charged monthly fees AND renewal fee during COVID when gym wasn’t even operating! These people are in for a rude legal awakening. They don’t return inquiries and don’t refund your money. Do not join this gym! I can’t even cancel my membership while they keep charging away during lockdown.

The WORST experience of my life! They just keep charging and overcharging you for not using their gym. No response, No customer service. I have not used the gym in the past 18 months and they have overcharged me multiple times even when they are closed! When I contact them (after several emails and calls), they offer me extra months of useless membership. PLEASE stop charging me and give my money back! DO NOT RECOMMEND IT! Do yourself a favor and never step in this gym.

Always a great bang for your buck and the staff are friendly, I will happily return to Crunch once indoor fitness facilities open in Ontario.

However, I am disappointed with the lack of response in regards to two charges that were applied to my account in May. I sent an email to Cassandra on May 17th and have yet to receive any response.

Charged me throughout COVID even during the lock down, unable to get to anyone despite emails and calls. Bunch of hidden fees that they don't tell you about in person. Stay away from this place and save yourself a headache.

Charges service fee even when not using the service and requesting to cancel the subscription fee. They like to make money off of people who are not continuing the service. These guys find a way to continue charging fee when they are limiting number of people coming in but not cancelling or putting a hold on all subscriptions until they come in.

The gym is not so awesome to me anymore you can have your five stars but those five stars mean nothing to me I go to the gym to work out I see a lot of people just sitting there and texting on their phone and when I'm waiting for someone to finish their set they're just sitting there texting there needs to be a change I'm getting very angry about it and I have no time to be waiting on others while they're sitting there texting people need to finish their sets once you do a finish it why are people going to the gym if they're not there to train I go to Joslins MMA I don't see anyone sitting there doing nothing

Not a bad gym. Has a decent amount of workout machines. However, not all of them has a description of how to properly use them which I dislike. Other than that, it's not bad. I'm still going there.

It is a good gym with all the facilities. $11 for the month is a contract price. They usually have a non contract price for $14. The machines and the aerobics is on the first floor. Honestly, it could have been bigger with more machines but with covid, the crowd is controlled. They hand out sanitizer sprays now to everyone coming in.

They charged my wife 2 months when the location on downtown was closed, they tried to charge as well, they never answered my emails or calls, they just ignore me when I tried to cancel our memberships, but they are harassing me now to update my payment information to charge me for a location that is close again. It's a scam.

They are still charging me for a membership I signed up for in January 2020. I visited gym 3 times before shutdown. Now they are open and taking extra money from my account.and REFUSE to cancel my membership, and told me on the phone they will continue to take my money even though I do not feel safe going there, nor do I want to be a member anymore.they have gotten over 200$ from me by now for 3 visits to their gym.and have told me they will continue. Given the current situation with a global pandemic. I would have hoped for some understanding in wanting to cancel my membership. DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM! I AM DISGUSTED.

This gym has the same variety of equipment as LA Fitness and Goodlife Fitness for a third of the price. The premium membership allows you to go to any branch and bring a guest with you every time. Affordable and good quality gym.

Not very covid-safe. Too many high school students not social distancing and staff are not attending to groups of people following covid protocol. Many areas go uncleaned for too long.

Been a member since 2016. I have to say I don’t like the atmosphere at all. I have the peak membership. Massage chair is always broken, staff at desk demanded I wear a mask even though I have a medical note. No other gym is hassling anybody. I’ve witness them kicking out and badgering members cause they are on a power trip. Becareful because my membership was up before and they renewed it without my permission. They also have been double charging me, taking my funds out twice. Promising to fix it, and never do. I don’t want credit, I want my money back and to leave. Another gym told me Crunch members are going to their gym and leaving Crunch

I was delaying joining the gym because of COVID since I’m frequently being judged for not wearing a mask. Corinna was truly amazing. It’s incredible to see a person so kind and open-minded. She was very positive from the beginning, never judged me for being mask exempt and provided an exceptional customer service. She was very fun, helpful, made the process easy and seamless for me. I’m very impressed!

Guys, why are you still charging my card? I already asked to cancel my month to month membership via your contact form (since you conveniently don't provide an email) and meanwhile there's been zero communication about reopening, billing, etc.

You'd have had a better chance of keeping my business if you *didn't* just sneakily start charging again without communicating anything.

Was a member for three years - gym was always clean, staff was friendly. Good variety of equipment. Rarely had to wait to use anything.

Had to cancel my membership once I moved back home in another city (COVID) ; they were very accommodating and the cancellation took less than 2 minutes.

Was charged for my membership even though I haven’t went since it was frozen in March. I don’t feel comfortable going either.

Nonetheless. You should call/email people before you just start recharging everyone again.

Will be calling Tomorrow to cancel it.

It's unfortunate because most of my experiences at crunch were positive until recently. I went into the gym after it's opening (as I was noticing charges on my bank account again) and I was pretty disappointed to see while working out if you were at your machine or station you can take your mask off (when you're exerting yourself and breathing heaviest). Working at a hospital it just didn't seem like the safe or smart thing to continue my membership here so I canceled. Unfortunately it doesn't stop just there because I canceled my membership (which was relatively easy) but a month later I received another charge which was above their usual 9.99 fee. When I called to find out it seems like they charging people that's bologna last month fee even though I cancelled the day I was charged the month before. They told me I could use their gym for another month but when I told them I would be very uncomfortable working out in an area where I believe it is unsafe there was little to no understanding of the situation.

I have been going to Crunch for a few years now and have highly enjoyed working out there. I have no complaints about the West Hamilton location, especially considering the price! Generally speaking, the staff & other members are friendly and I personally like the overall atmosphere of the gym. There is a wide variety of equipment and it seems to be of higher quality (as compared to the downtown location). I have only tried their yoga and spin classes; the instructors are great! Even prior to covid, I often noticed professional cleaners in the gym, Their staff is regularly cleaning & tidying as well. Any small amount of uncleaniless I noticed, I attributed to the behavior of some of the members, rather than a reflection of the club's maintaince.
However, I am disappointed in some of Crunch's policies, particularly around billing and masking protical post-covid. In my opinion, this is direct reflection of the corporation, rather than any individual location. I decided to try another gym that I have been curious about and may be a better fit for me at this time. I had no issues with putting my membership on hold and when I inquired about the cancellation procedure at the front desk, I feel like it was fully explained to me, including the 30 day notice. I am hopeful that there won't be any issues!

Prior to Covid the gym was often dirty and machines would take months to get fixed, but it was fine for the price. Once gyms reopened I called to freeze and was charged a yearly fee along with the month of July. I was told if I cancel I wouldn't get a refund and I would have to pay an additional month once I unfreeze. My yearly fee was due to be paid mid June, when I couldn't cancel because no one was picking up the phones. Over $100 to not use a gym, don't sign up you'll be ripped off.

This Gym is ripping me off with out ever informing me. I never received an email saying the gym is opening up. They charged me for the month of August. I contacted them on August 8th 2020 to freeze my account and requested a refund since I was not using their service as I do not want to expose myself to Covid. They took money from my account again on the 1st of September. Seriously? Why I am being charged when I am not even using their service. I was asked to send an email, I did and I never received any response. I think its so unfair to charge people when they are not using your service!

Due to pandemic they were closed once they opened I called to cancel my membership but their staff convinced me to freeze my account for 3 months and reassured me that I will not be charged and I can cancel any time without any charge, a few days later they charge me and the reason was that I didn't give the notice in advance although they were closed.
When I got upset and ask to cancel my membership after the charge they said you will be charged again for a month since your account is freeze now and you need to give notice from the time that your account get unfrozen!
