The hydro massage is out of order since a long time but the management doesn’t care to get them up and running properly. One hydro massage is totally out of orde and the other one is malfunctioning. What a waste money. Fit4less is way better

The staff are friendly and always tend to share smiles and good moods motivating others. Great atmosphere and decent equipment for a good workout. I like this place and rate it an 8 out of 10 for sure. But can't beat it for the price.

This is the way they provide hand soap and no hand towel massage seats are down for more than couple months, sauna is closed. But their staff is great

I am very disappointed with the customer service from the owner Matt Fry. I put in a cancellation of membership 5 years ago only to discover they were still charging my credit card. I initially spoke to a staff member named Kristen about this situation who thought it was comical and she also let me know that this happens quite a bit with staff members “forgetting” to submit cancellation forms. Once I could finally get a hold of Matt he would not offer any kind of reprieve for me even though I had not been there in 5 years! He only offered me “free time”. Beware…if you want to cancel your membership…ensure they follow through. Very disappointed with the abrupt conversation with Matt. I clearly remember that when joining many years ago the conversations were lengthy and eager to please. I would not recommend this gym to anyone.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. This gym has gone downhill tremendously in previous years. It is unkempt, many machines are broken or unusable and there is a lack of space for warm up/stretching. Change rooms and restrooms are also a less than ideal space. Their management and customer service is also poor when any issues come up such as unhappiness with services etc.

I really enjoy this gym. I’ve tried multiple locations but always feel the most comfortable here.
Best feature has to be the private showers/washroom/changing space. Every other location has private showers but nowhere private to change and get ready for the day.

Got a chance to fix an issue that I had created and, the guys at the gym were absolutely fantastic. I'm starting off with a new trainer for 3 days a week for an hour each of those days. It is worth the money they're saying it's $9.99 per month but it works out to about 18 and change per month but, there are so many advantages to having a trainer and of course being able to work out in a safe and clean place. I found out that the sauna is not going to be fixed. Sorry to all those who are wondering about that.

Disorganized vultures.

I signed up for personal training a few years ago right before losing my job to covid.
I told them I couldnt afford the payments and asked if I could work something out but they refused.

Even though I wasnt coming in for the training they continued to charge me and by the end of the year I now owe them $2000 for doing absolutly nothing.

Shameless, selfish, bloodless people.

It's a very busy gym with lots of people at any given time. Parking is difficult and it's hard to get in and out of the parking lot when it's busy because it's off upper James. There are several staff members behind the desk but no one ever goes upstairs to clean up the weights and put them back. Patrons use weights and leave them wherever they want I spend so much time looking for weights. No one wipes down their machines even though there are ample spray bottles and paper towels. I guess you get what you pay for at this budget gym.

Really bad maintenance, washroom, and lockers always when I go the machines they are broken the elliptical to old. I rather to drive 20 more minutes to go to the another location. The staff good people but the place really bad.

I have been a member for little over a month now and couldn't be happier. Facilities are clean weights and machines are in good shape, hours are awesome. Yes there is some equipment out of service but there is more to make up for it. Staff is friendly and other members are there to workout and not cause issues. I personally wish the A/C was on more gets a little warm at times but I've survived lol. This location is definitely one of the better ones.

I like this gym because of the price. Whether you pay $80 a month or $29, a 50 pound weight is a 50 pound weight. I'm here between 4 to 5 times a week.

But at some point the line has to be drawn. The state of this gym is horrendous. This morning two benches were missing seats, others are almost completely wrapped in duct tape, and over 50 percent of the treadmills are broken.

SOMEONE FIX THE TREADMILLS. Only 3 out of about 25 are working. The others have been standing there collecting dust with service signs on them FOR OVER 6 MONTHS NO EXAGGERATION. I’m so so fed up.
Staff are amazing, and kind and courteous, and, the rest of this gym is pretty disastrous. I mostly go there for treadmills (not anymore) weights (decent) and tanning.

Let's get real this place is dirt cheap and for that you get dirt.
The place is filthy, yet to see anyone tidy up. No janitor.
I asked for hand sanitizer and apparently they no longer buy it I was told by desk staff. I'm not a pandemic freak but considering how gross the place it, it's nice to sanitize my hands as I leave.
85% of cardio equipment is not aworking (see photo) of approx 25 or so treadmills I think 4 work properly, 1 of 3 stair climbers and about 5 of 20 ellipticals. NO exaggeration and I've been coming to this location since the fire at 5Star for many months now with NOTHING fixed.
The place is overcrowded with people on their phones taking up equipment, teens hanging out talking OR disrespectful members who irrelevant of signs constantly slam weights and equipment.
It's a true peacock joint. Half dressed members not really there to workout but enjoy admiring themselves in the dirty mirrors hoping it others notice them aswell.
I keep hope my location will reopen soon. It was clean, equipment was repaired in a timely manner and their was more than 5 benches.
** photos are only 1 side of all the broken treadmills. The other side has 1 that works and 1 that will turn on but is stuck on a level 11 incline.
It will not be in Crunch' best interest to charge me maintenance fees considering their is none.
And BEWARE their are signs to keep gym bags in lockers. Ironically my 20 yr old son did that and went back to get his bag only to find his lock CUT and gym bag gone through. Nothing was taken but his items were all over the change room (I believe someone came in while the thief was going through his bag and they got nervous and left suddenly)
When he brought it to attention of staff neither seemed to care and only asked if he had his stuff there long as they cut locks after a few days? It had not even been 2hrs.
Needless to say use lockers at your own risk!

If there is 25 thread-mill, only 2 will be working. Very busy gym, so sometimes we had to wait for long to get the dumbells and machines. I don’t think there is a time this gym with limited people, always busy, even at 12am, never came after that.

Pros:
• cheap
• friendly staff

Cons:
• 19/24 treadmills “scheduled for service”. Same excuses for the last 4 months as to why they aren’t being fixed.
• 5 ellipticals out of service
• both stairmasters out of service
• wifi has never worked. Was told 4 months ago it was “the wind” that knocked it out. Has blue we been fixed.
• over crowded.
• hot! Everyone knows heat rises. So why out the gym upstairs in an overcrowded gym.

The gym is perfectly adequate it's got lots of machines for every body part u wish to work on, but for the love of God they break down and stay tht way far too long. Don't get me wrong I don't have an issue with them breaking cause they get lots of use but when they break maximum down time should be a week not weeks.

I went there for a free membership that they were offering for 2 months, but I wanted to cancel membership since the equipments are not maintained well. Just for two weeks into membership, they are charging me annual fees of $56 and monthly membership too. This is ridiculous. The worst gym in Hamilton!

I enjoyed being a member, but buyer beware of their cancellation process. After we moved away from Hamilton, it took me SEVEN MONTHS, several phonecalls, and at least 15 emails to cancel my membership (after which point they were going to charge me a cancellation fee and an extra month because I didn't give them enough notice to cancel. It was eventually resolved, but after a crazy amount of effort on my part. I have never had such a bad customer service experience.

It was a '5 Star' gym but recently 'Crunch' over took it. Machines are less as compared to the rest of the Crunch gyms. Small area and less equipments. All together if you know how to exercise with different variations then you won't run out of workout machines but if someone is looking for specific machines then they might get upset. Music vibes aren't that good but we can bring our own (not too much load which is the best part). Does not resemble Crunch Brand but altogether I am satisfied as it's near.

Enjoy the atmospher here. Staff is super friendly. Being a women its nice being able to go the gym and not have men hitting on you - everyone is simply here to workout which is great. Only downside is that its always super busy due to one of the other locations being closed because of a fire.

The facility offers beautiful organized workout area with wide range of equipments for all the muscle range plus it also offers Zumba, yoga and massage as extra activities with personal coaching and friendly staff

I have, on multiple occasions been harassed at this gym. I left a complaint with the staff 3 weeks ago & my phone number for the manager to call me. I did not hear back 2 weeks later after being assured he would call to follow up. I tried to get in touch with him again, and still nothing! It is very clear to me that the management at this location does not care if patrons are being harassed on their premises. As a women, I feel unsafe & uncomfortable going to this gym. Not to mention the following facts: 1. There are machines that have been broken for up to 4 months now. What is my maintance fee going towards? Also, of the 17 or so treadmills at this location, 4 are functional. There are signs saying "out of service" that have been up, as stated previously, for over 3-4 months. 2. The gym is unsanitary (ceiling leaking, grimy) and not stocked up on sanitizer, toilet paper, paper towels, soap etc. Changerooms are disgusting & smelly. Half of the time, (especially in the summer) the smell of B. O.hits you like a physical wall when you walk in the front door. 3. Machines that do work are not maintained. Seat cushions are peeling off, adjusting knobs and not functional, cardio machines & any machines with belts have so much friction /resistance. Overall the gym environment is awful. I would think with the amount of people who go here and the amount of money from memberships/ maintenance fees, equipment could be fixed and upkept at the very least. During a pandemic there should be hand sanitizing stations around there gym. There is at most, on a good day, one that is filled.

Great budget gym. I understand they just went through a pandemic; however, some equipment is very worn down. For the price it's a great deal but little changes would make it that much better.

It one of the worst gyms ever I don’t remember when was I went and the still taken money they took 56 dollars fees I ask for what they don’t give the clear answer I ask to cancel my membership they told me to send an email to them and they took again 81 dollars for cancelling membership ship. If there was less than one star that will be good.if you guys make money from people at less improve the gym. I do recommend this gym at all because at the end of the year you will spend the same amount of money compared with other gyms.

Staff is not the best. Equipment is mediocre.atleast one thing is always broken. Sauna has never been open while I was there ever.

If I could take away stars I would. This has been the absolute worst experience with a gym or any kind of establishment in my entire freaking life. Crunch continues to take money from my account despite my NUMEROUS requests for cancellation. This comes after the downtown location was closed not only for the pandemic, but permanently. I have emailed and called a ton of people about this and I have no freaking answers, yet I wake up this morning to see that they have happily still taken money out of my account. This is getting ridiculous. CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP AND REFUND ME THE MONEY YOU'VE STOLEN OVER THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF!

If dealing with management or staff in any capacity, document everything fully.

I've been a member of this gym for about 5 years in total. Except almost 3 years ago I canceled my membership with staff over the phone because I moved out of province. The woman I spoke to said I was supposed to do it in person but as that wasn't possible she'd make it work.

I didn't think to look for withdrawals in my bank statements because I was under the impression I wasn't paying them anymore (namely because they told me I wouldn't be paying them anymore). Unfortunately for me, I didn't notice until COVID restrictions fell and no one was reachable there.

Their phone had no answering machine and no one to contact in lieu of on-site staff. Their corporate body and their franchises don't communicate so when I messaged corporate years ago, I never got any response back from anyone. Their site also has an internal messaging system for complaints which means a copy will not be saved for your future use unless you screen-capture it before sending.

Then when I finally did cancel my membership with them just weeks ago, I requested at least some back pay in good faith for their clerical error. They asked for proof of the phone call 3 years ago (on a phone I no longer have in my possession) or at any other point of contact and actively ignored that I haven't attended the gym at all in that time. They also ignored me when I said that I sent messages through their corporate site and they made no effort to look for them.

I was reasonable about my request given that COVID has hit businesses hard everywhere and didn't ask for every penny back. I would've been satisfied with $50 as a sign of good faith.in fact I would've been appeased by a gift card (instead of the over $500 I paid in that time). Then I tried to explain that it's unfair under the circumstances to give me absolutely nothing.

It's been 2 weeks and I still have yet to hear back from them.

I don't have any need for the money but on principle I won't be going back there.

I can say they've lost me as a customer for life because of how they handled this.

This isn't how good business is done.

I work for a gym, we use the same payment processing service ABC financial. Crunches official stance is that charges were being made to customers due to an error in account freezing. Either this is a blatant lie or as was stated explicitly in a recent news article, these charges were in at least partial sum being used to pay Crunches debtors.

Given the dire straits some have been in from COVID-19 this behaviour is abhorrent.

Omar at the front desk is excellent however and dealt with my poor composure well.

1st time going to a gym. Super clean and efficient with their machines! Love all the variety it has! I'm so happy to have a membership there! Can't beat their price when you can also bring a guest with you! Friendly staff and helpful with any questions you have. The first time going they actually gave me a quick tour of the place. So nice of them to do.

The gym used to be great but it gets worse every day. Bike rack disappeared and nobody cares. Clocks disappeared and nobody cares. 90% of the treadmills are broken at any given time. Pretty disappointing.

I finally cancelled both memberships. They insisted on charging g building maintenance fees even though it was closed for most of the year. If one cannot go to the gym why tf am I to pay for the maintenance. If anyone is interested in joining a class action lawsuit please message.

An excellent budget gym. Doesn't have as much equipment or space as some pricer gyms. But everything works, the showers are clean, and the price is right.

I started going to crunch Hamilton Mountain after the pandemic shut down the downtown location. This crunch location is very bright and has mirrors around the facility so you can check your form while you work out - a big benefit over other locations. The up stairs is very large and there is ample aerobic machines for everyone to maintain 2 meters apart. In the free weights section I find myself looking for barbells frequently because there is not enough for the deadlifts, squats and bench press when it gets busy. While I'm waiting for a barbell I usually check out the machines in the centre and do a couple of accessory excercise while I wait. The staff has been friendly and very understanding of the return after the pandemic. I will note masks are not required once you get to a workout area but are mandatory when entering the building and in common spaces. Furthermore, an appointment is not necessary to work out. This location does get very busy, so be ready to wait or have other excercise ready to do.

Workout equipment is always taken/occupied, ruins your motivation and workout routine.

When I went to the washroom, all the toilets weren't flushed except for one. And the one that was clean didn't have toilet paper. Here I'm thinking how'd this happen and it's only noon.

Not very professional. I know we are in a pandemic and businesses are hurting, but that doesn't mean that customers should be ripped off. It clearly states that the Upper James location is temporarily closed and you get an automated information when you call the store. Despite all this my account is still being charged monthly. This is not acceptable at all!

Very unprofessional, emailed them to cancel my membership but was charged annual fee idk why they keep on charging customers every month when we are not even using their services. Worst customer service zero response to email and phone calls. It’s understandable that they are facing hard time but they should also care about their customers. Better to go somewhere else instead of loosing money for nothing

I have received an email during lockdown that all the current memberships are cancelled due to lockdown.
But after 3 months they just renewed my membership without any prior notice. Amd when i asked for refund they just refuse.

UPDATE: Finally received email honouring request to cancel that they acknowledged was received December 12,2020. The reply was from Upper James location and it stated that I would have to pay March 15th payment as I need to give 30 days notice. I'm not going to bother to argue the math on this. Disappointed but done.

Updating my 5 star rating from 3 years ago down to 1. No communication to members during pandemic but they are excellent at taking annual fee and monthly membership when they are open. Following their guidelines to cancel I've completed online request form 5 times for someone to contact me. No response. Phone number always says their mailbox is full. I will probably have to go there to cancel which defeats social distancing. I'll give them 5 stars for distancing from communicating with their customers.

This gym is honestly trash. Take all your money during a pandemic even though they have been closed for months will still charge you an annual fee. You are so much better off going to Fit 4 Less. Charged over $200 and the gym has only been available to me 2 weeks. Staff there lie to you when asked what you will be charged. No one knows what they’re doing, it’s a mess. Also staff member downplayed the pandemic and told me people were overreacting to the flu.
