A lovely fine dining experience. The server seated us and unfolded the napkins and placed on our thighs. Came around the table and politely asked if we were going to use the Chop sticks and then removed them from the cover and placed them neatly next to the plate. Food was good. Loved the Crispy OK tofu and the diced vegetables with ginger and egg whites rice. There was live music and he was really good as well. They bring you warm towels at the end of the meal. A very nice experience. Very friendly and attentive staff.
Ordered food online, when it arrived it was dry, poor quality, honestly so bad. We didn’t even eat it. When I spoke to the manager Tony he said that us thinking the quality was bad was a personal preference and he’s never heard anyone say the food is bad in his 20 years of working there, so there’s not much he can do about it. Reviews say otherwise. Bad service and bad food, don’t bother
We paid 150 dollars for disgusting, greasy food that didn’t seem edible. The only thing we ate was the spring rolls and we spent thirty minutes arguing with Tony over the phone for a refund because we couldn’t eat 95% of the food (see picture of how much food was a waste) Don’t eat here. Besides the nasty expensive food, they just don’t know how customer service works.
The atmosphere is INSANE here! We had all you can eat and the prices were decent. The taste was not as good as I expected it to be but the experience was worth every penny.
The only problem was on our last order we didn't get the pork buns no matter how much we reminded the waitresses about it. And the customer service definitely needs improvement.
Horrible thug of a waiter grabbed my wrist and forced it into the tap position because I was to slow for him and then rushed my daughter and I out of the restaurant. Our original female server was very friendly and efficient. I suspect he was not fond of my gender or my race. We wont be back!
We've seen a couple of Cynthia's restaurants but never tried it out until now. There are two restaurants in this plaza, a Chinese one and a Thai/Korean/Japanese one. I ordered from the Chinese one and got vegetarian spring rolls, chicken wings, and chicken flat noodles. They were all delicious. Will be coming back for more.
Their food was amazing, I loved everything I ordered, specially their desserts, I usually don’t like all you can eat because of their low quality but their food was perfect, totally recommend them
All Ketong, my server, had to say were these three words…
“We have lobster”.
Tell tale signs for the perfect shrimp wonton soup:
Consumé is clear and flavourful Wonton wrappers are delicate and thin Contents of wonton (shrimp) is fresh and seasoned perfectly where the shrimp is still the star of the first act. Contents of wonton are tightly wrapped Scallions are still crisp with a burst of flavour (they were literally just chopped before sprinkled onto your soup)
The lobster flavour I chose today was the combination of ginger, garlic and green onion. Next time the garlic and black bean! It was incredibly fresh and I love that the edges of the lobster? Meat were gently crisped. The chef chopped the pieces into easy to eat!
The House Fried Rice was pretty good.
The Baby Bok Choy was to die for! The sauce was kept light but that wok toasted minced garlic! Yum!
It’s safe to say, I’ll see this place again! Ketong has worked here for 17 years and his service was warm and impeccable. He didn’t miss a beat. High end and worth every dollar spent. Can't wait to try the Peking Duck next week! Tony, the host at reception and possibly the owner was lovely too.
Very enjoyable, excellent selection of sushi and dim sum dishes. The menu is all you can eat and is ordered through a tablet left at the table. The menu has pictures of all the dishes and details of the number of pieces included in the selection. I especially enjoyed the robot that delivered the food.
The taste and quality have fallen below, not worth the price anymore.and once they got your payment they will force you to leave even you’re still not done with your dessert.i don’t recommend this place and i will never come back here anymore.
Cold and very low quality. We went for lunch and it cost us $150.00. Waitress are trying to ignore you when you call them. I requested my drink which they charge me for but they ignored me up to the last minute. Food comes so late and mostly under or over cooked. Don't recommend at all. You can go to better restaurants for that price.
There are few mainstays left in our lives during this pandemic. Fortunately, Cynthia's remains a genuine fixture as a source of premium Chinese culinary goodness, exceptionally trained and attentive staff, and a sense of joie de vivre you wouldn't normally find during dark times. This is an oasis that will keep you coming back because you enjoy feeling like a King or a Queen and because the originality of the cuisine (from the soups to the egg/spring rolls to the gloriously underrated Mongolian beef and the criminally tasty Peking Duck will leave a monumental impression. If you want value and a sense of discovery, Cynthia's Chinese Restaurant will take you there and back again.
Ive been going here for years now. A really nice place to come with friends and family. They use ipads to order and they only take credit or cash but they have an atm to withdraw cash in the restaurant. Last time i went with my husband and some friends and they had a robot waiter. It goes from table to table with your order. It was pretty neat and it drew alot of attention so its pretty cool for buisness.
Excellent decor and furnishings in a fine dining setting. Fast service and friendly staff. The menu is more of a Canadian Chinese with dim sum. The quality is very high and very tasty. Highly recommended.
Ridiculous The person at the door apparently doesn't comprehend how to check a vaccine document and refused service after CLEARLY showing two doses of vaccination and prove of ID. Wouldn't recommend this place at all and I found it ridiculous how a restaurant failed to train staff members at checking prove of vaccination at such a point in this pandemic.
It was our first time here and seeing that it's thanksgiving, we decided to go for food that's better quality. Oh how wrong we were. We ordered 4 dishes for 3 people and the damage done for these very disgraceful food court quality food they claimed to be "fine dining", was $82, discounted to a whopping $74 because we paid cash. With the amount of food that we received and the quality of the food that we got, $40 would have been on the higher end of the price I would be willing to pay for this. Alright, sure, the fried tofu being soggy is normal since I ordered it for takeout, but it was salty to the point where it felt like I was chewing on soggy salt clumps half the time. The shrimp fried rice came with the small frozen already peeled shrimp that you can buy a bag of 40 for less than $10 at any Chinese supermarket. The prawn dish came with only 6 pieces and a full plate of onions that somehow costs $21. Finally, the highlight of the night. Half a duck. That is if you consider half a duck as one that has no wings and breast, then sure, you can call that half a duck. Even then, half the tray of "duck" we got was burnt black and inedible, with a lot of it being random pieces of scrap. The only actually recognizable pieces was the drumstick. I didn't come for Chinese fine dining to eat burnt duck scrap for $25.
I'm giving them 2 stars because ok. Fine, the food is still at a decent food court quality level, and was able to be enjoyed as such.
Will not be visiting again and definitely do not recommend, unless you have disposable cash that you can throw around. At which point, I'd recommend you to spend the money on gas and drive to Markham and almost any restaurant you go there is cheaper and better tasting.
Our family has been ordering Cynthia's for over 10 years, it does not disappoint. The lettuce wraps are a family favourite and we drive all the way from Stouffville to Newmarket to pick up food here frequently. Staff are always friendly and helpful in person or on phone. Highly recommend!
Sizzling black pepper beef was okay.but the duck was incredibly disappointing especially since I was really looking forward to it. See pic, their traditional duck says "boneless" on the website but it was all bone. Unfortunate because the sauce tasted good but there was little meat the rest was bone. When you look at the picture the meat you see, the thickness is actually bone lol so expensive just to eat bone.
Food was bland. No flavour. No garlic, no ginger, no spice, only broccoli, onion an a bit of carrot in the mixed vegetables. No mini corn, bamboo shoots, peppers or water crestnut. Found an electrical wire in my mouth that I came close to swallowing that was in the food. Wish I could post a picture.
I visit this superb restaurant every couple of days as I enjoy the good mood that is exist in this restaurant. The staff is highly friendly and well trained. The service is absolutely efficient. Also, the food they cook is first-rate. I ate there many times and I was always satisfied. The cost is fair. I highly suggest this place to to all.
Was extremely busy for take out. Had no problem getting a table for New Years Eve dinner. Been there many times and NEVER, disappointed. Great staff and excellent food. I usually dont rave about places, but this one is excellent.
Surprisingly pretty good. Lots of a food options and the decorations and dishes were quite unique. Overall the decor is tradition but also a but dated. Though it didn't detract from the entire meal so no complaints. Had a good time there and would recommend a try.
Nice food, didn't like the sushi at all but all you can eat meat and vegetables were okay. Felt very rushed, as I'm guessing they want high turn over $. Very expensive overall
My daughter & I " old fashioned orange duck, b.b. Q.pork, & mixed veggies. & steamed rice. We each took the rest of the food home with enough for a meal on Christmas day!
As the first Chinese restaurant in Newmarket, 福禄寿 has been open for nearly 30 years. The environment and service is undoubtedly the best Chinese restaurant in Newmarket, and the dishes are also very good. Highly recommended.
Very good ambiance and the food taste delicious. Food was a little bit expansive but with all that ambiance its worth it. I ordered Halal food. Chicken and Beef and my overall experience is very good.would definitely recommend to try
Their decoration is very Chinese characteristics, their menu is made into a fan or the holy will of the ancient emperors. The dish is more suitable for the local taste because it is too sweet.
Great traditional Chinese food. Very nice environment. Price is reasonable. We had our anniversary at Cynthia’s Chinese. Everything is good however if you are looking for fast service, then it’s not for you. It’s not typical Chinese restaurant that brings you food within 5 minutes.
The food is very worst. I bought the 2 people combo. They have beef dish, since I am an Indian i want to switch to fish course. They asked me to pay extra 4 dollar. Which I am not happy with it. So if u are indian it's not a good place to have your dinner. And they have only salmon as their fish option. Which is too bad.
I can give 10 stars to the staffs specially Tony Liao, and the awesome crabs and lobster yummy tasty.a very nice restaurant I've ever seen in canada. Loves chinese food and i love the clean place and nice decor. Again Staffs are nice
Wasn’t to happy with the service. Gave me warm water and kept refilling with warm water. Asked the server if I could have some ice with my water and felt like I was bothering them. Food was good but Will never go back. Will go to mandarin instead
Cynthia's is actually a pretty good Chinese restaurant. The key to any Chinese restaurant is to go when they are bust, this means the food will always be fresh, because of the volume being served. Mt girlfriend and I have been here a couple of times, easily, and found everything to be spot on. The food was good, the pricing was reasonable, the only thing I found was their dessert selection to be somewhat smaller in selection to their major competitor, we all know who that is. Regardless, if you haven't been to Cynthia's it is definitely worth checking out.
The Fine Dining Chinese restaurant food is pricy. Restaurant use expensive tableware to make you felt high class and elegant but the food quality and taste was not matched and taste is not that good.
The soup bowl put in a golden bowl ware which caused soup bowl was not stable and soup can be overflow easily.
Compare to Scarborough, Markham or Richmond Hill area, you can easily find a very good and tasty Chinese restaurant and it is not expensive.
Normally very good, but last 2 times take out order was wrong. They promised to give me a free item on my next order which didn't happen even though I told them when placing order. This order one item was wrong and one item is missing. Phoned the store again and they delivered one item wrong again. Singapore noodles with no veg, no meat, no shrimp. What's wrong with this picture?
