Daigyo Cafe

Came here for a quick coffee and bite. Very calm and relaxing atmosphere, so I sat down for a bit to do some work before heading out. Staff is friendly.

I usually have my matcha softserve craving fixed here (since Tsujiri) but stopped going when they (Daigyo) only offered white peach flavour for quite some time. Went back today and surprised they have matcha softserve again but unfortunately somehow the taste was off, ice cream was kinda icy sorbet-ish and did not have strong matcha flavour as before - probably of cheaper lower grade/quality, definitely not worth the almost $10 per cup.

The organic hojicha smoothie was so strong and flavourful! Love how smooth and roasted the hojicha was. The shiratama oolong tea parfait was very sweet and goes so well with mochi.

The decor was also very cute

We had the Matcha Latte and Matcha Coffee – they were so good. Plus the sweet red bean combo.

The place offers rlly cool natural lighting, plus huge windows next to pathways make it a good spot to chill and people watch.:)

Will try their soft serve next time!

I arrived at 330pm yesterday. There was no one at the counter. I waited for 5 mins and left. There was also no matcha available. How can you run a business with no one at the counter?

They didn't have matcha ice cream of all places! Matcha ice cream happens to be the centerpiece of this establishment! Yes, they also lack ramen and poke! What an outrageous experience.

I came here on a Friday night after dinner as we were feeling for dessert - the place was buzzing with people coming in and out. To our surprise, they weren't offering their usual matcha ice cream and instead, had a new Jasmine White Peach Ice Cream. As a result, we ordered the Shiratama and a slush, both in this flavor.

I enjoy how light and subtle white peach is, which makes it super refreshing. We opted for the Shiratama compared to the other parfaits/plain ice cream because we love their sticky rice balls which are fun and chewy. It also comes with red beans which I personally am never a big fan of, but the kind they use is acceptable for me. The slush itself was also light and refreshing. It was not too icy to the point where you'd be left with just plain ice at the end, which I appreciate. Inside, there's also little bits of fruit which are fun to taste. Both desserts were nice.

Side note: when we asked them when matcha would return, the employee said they didn't know. Just a FYI if you're headed there for it!

This matcha parfait did surprise me with its strong matcha flavour. I expected it to be sweet, creamy but didn't know it could taste so much like the ones I had in Japan! Of course the matcha flavour wasn't as delicate as in Japan, but there was indeed some aftertaste for the matcha. Combining with red bean and 白玉 this is the perfect matcha parfait to end a day.

Absolutely love this place! Have tried the Shiratama parfait, Yuzu O Matcha, and White Peach Yuzu Float! Strong matcha flavour - I always bring my friends here!

Horrible experience coming here… first off, the employeees are very rude.did not get any greeting and constant chit chatting with each other.it was clear they were only there to socialize. I felt like I was a nuisance even ordering.second, she did not give me my change back, i guess he/she thought that their chit chatting deserved a tip. The ice cream quality was also horrible.it looked like half the effort was put into it.never coming back again.whoever is in charge, please fix or change your staff.

The service was horrible, the cashiers didn’t give us the change, and there were kept chatting. They didn’t call the number when the food is ready, when we asked them for the ice cream, it was already melted…. Can’t taste it at all…

Regret spend money.never go again.very bad quality.had matcha soft serve ice cream.no cream.just water & sugar.very watery.melt in 1 mimute.would like to ask for refund of $$. If possible.in addition.really bad post-sale customer service.i sent email to the customer service email address left requesting for refund.but totally NO reply from them for almost 2 month.also.it is EMPTY inside for the soft serve cone.definitely feel like being cheated! Please try all your best to avoid for this expensive place.for same amount of $$. Approx 7 $. You can get a whole bucket of good quality ice cream for supearket.please do NOT go!

A very special place for anything Matcha. Excellent location at Downtown North York. Courteous staff and very communicative and accommodating. It is a very special place representing authentic Japanese desserts. A gem.

Great food and fair ethnic diversity!

The matcha latte with oat milk is fantastic! The interior is pretty and there is a calm ambience if you take a seat inside when it's not busy. I was pleasantly surprised to see a South Asian brother working at the cafe. Always great to find representation in small restaurants!

Too expensive, small quantity for what they actually serve for the prices, but still taste is really bad, not worth it, ambience is okay, but not a great place to hang out, need to rethink of the prices

Very stiff customer service. We asked for Organic Houjicha float smoothie. The smoothi part was ice with almost no flavor. When we asked why is that. They just looked like " are you dumb? This is how it tastes. " I would never come back here. Bad quality, no good customer service and they feel entitled because of being Japanese green tea shop? !

I had a worst experience in this place. Customer service is horrible and the matcha smoothie tasted like burned tea with no flavor.

Just located at the corner of Yonge St and Spring Gardner Ave, it's almost perfect for couples, students, and small families to visit! I loved the matcha ice cream here, and my partner loved the matcha with espresso shot here. Their matcha is very unique and higher quality compared to other places that serve matcha desserts. That's because it's organic premium matcha that's imported directly from Japan! There's a variety of matcha drinks and desserts to choose from, plus more locations will be opening soon in Toronto. We visited on a weekday evening, so it wasn't too busy, and the lineup was small.

In conclusion, food is great, the place is great, and watching the staff hard at work making the drinks and desserts, is great! If you're a matcha fanatic, then Diagyo cafe is the place for you.

So okay to try once in a while, if you become regular check your last week's spending first

Matcha milkshake was great! It was smooth and not too sweet and not bitter. I would forego the whip cream next time. Will be back to try other desserts.

Are you a matcha lover? If you said yes, check out daigyo cafe to satisfy your matcha cravings I always get their matcha swirl because its the best! Love our rich the matcha flavour is not too bitter or too sweet! I really want to try their matcha milkshake next because I have heard some good things about it!

I've been on the hunt for a place that serves an affogato without the espresso because I don't drink coffee and where I can improvise a matcha latté affogato. Daigyo Café does it without hesitation or protest, you just buy the #32 and a matcha latté that you pour over the frozen treat. The matcha latté is not sweetened and is perfect in size and blend. Also tried their frozen matcha in a waffle cone, really good. Everything was prepared and served in less than 2 minutes by the friendly and knowledgeable baristas. Attractive, clean surroundings with a few tables for dining in or carry out. We visited around 7: 30 pm on a Monday evening and it was not busy but there were about 6-8 people inside, only one beautiful cake slice was left. Conveniently located on the southeast corner of Spring Garden and Yonge with limited on street parking available and a short walk north of Sheppard Station. A wonderful place for a light dessert and I'll definitely return for more. Reasonable prices.
