Went there by looking at all the reviews, seems like people dont know what good food taste like.

Ordered chola poori, Mirch bhaji and dosa

First the water on the table taste horrible I ask the waitress why water taste bad she said we have filtration and softner. Ask her to change it and taste of water change. So please if you r still going to eat there after reading the review please change the water who know how long it's been sitting there.

Now comes food never had in my life such a bad tasting food.

Going to sleep but thought I should leave a review, whenever my wife ask me how the food was, feel like throwing up

Overall it was good, but was with less shambhaar quantity like very less. Apart from it the taste was fab. Service could have been better.

I had fantastic time at Shri Dakshin! The service was exceptional and staff was very friendly.
“Ghee Roast Masala Dosa” and “Podi Idli” were absolutely delicious.
Highly recommend!

We have visited the place recently and ordered few items
1. Idly and sambar the idly was not cooked properly I couldn’t finish it was so hard.
2. Punugulu- I really like the punugulu here but this time the batter was not good.
3. Only vada was good
Remaining chutneys and sambar was tasty

One of my worst experiences for dining. Please I recommend do not waste your money and spoil your health at this location especially during rush hours.
We ordered 8 dosas out of which only two were good. 4 people were fasting and just having dinner once a day and great level of disappointment.

Everyone has bad stomach problems till the next day. When we asked to talk to the manager about it, no one even came see us.

Gini dosa was just kind of cheese dosa for kids, Rava dosa wasn’t good and when asked they said due to change in the flour thinking we are bunch of fools.

Just a big big disappointment, waste of money and health spoilage nothing else.

Giving 1 star for a staff. But other than that food is ridiculous. Instead of jhini dhosa they offer you cheese and paneer, no tomatoes and onions inside in it. When we asked the staff the ingredients for jhini dhosa then they said us that they are applying Chutney instead of chopped vegetables. And about the overall experience it’s waste of money. Another dosa we ordered is rava and the base they give us thick and when we ask the staff they said it’s the different suji than they used it before. Moreover, for maysoor they switch the spicy level with chetinand. After reaching home got sick. Will never recommend this place.

Service was not that good because I had to wait for 35 minutes for my order and that is only 2 masala dosa.

Food quality is poor in comparison to the price. Service is slow and rude. Don’t see myself ever coming here again.

Overall the food was good and fairly priced. I did have some issues like we ordered a coffee but it came pretty late, we returned food that was burnt, and it was hard to contact a server. Besides that the food was good, their Masala dosa was nice.

The place is clean, the ambience is pleasant, the staff is polite and courteous and the food is really good.

Different kinds of dosa and uttapam are available here. Good service and great taste of food. U can get the taste of South Indian tiffins here.

Two stars because they will not take reservations. Food is good, I am not denying that, but when you have to wait an hour to dine in- that’s when it sort of starts getting ridiculous. Especially when we have a 2 year old. Not practical to wait an hour in the car. They will not take down the name on phone either ‘book a slot’ as they say. I am not sure why reservations are such a bad thing. Maybe this is something they should reconsider.
Food is good, service is friendly once you are finally able to get a table.

The food and the service both were amazing, reminding me of the authentic taste of south India. Felt like home. Visit this place at least once!

Hi very bad service on the phone who taking order at dakshin restaurant in Cambridge the guy who take my order he says he is the manager so think about it if manager is like this how’s the service he is giving to customer very bad service and they don’t knw how to talk with customer they hang my phone and saying it’s just some other phone come up In 1 second how come the guy talk to other guy said put the phone ignore it and says the other call came up so I want to tell the owner of this restaurant please tell your employees talk nicely take order nicely and behave good with customer

Clean and brand new restaurant. Excellent service. Unfortunately, the vada's size (quality as well) is minimal compared to other restaurants like Saravana Bhavan, and the price is a bit higher for the sambar or rasam vada (also for dosas). I hope you will change this soon. See the price for the same at Shirish kitchen. Other than this all the foods that we bought were really good. For this reason, I'm giving a 5* rating. Update: I'm changing my rating to 1* after getting information from a trusted former employee. PLEASE GIVE "TIP" TO THE EMPLOYEES DIRECTLY.

Awesome South Indian taste food and customer service. Was very happy with their service and food. Kudos and great job to every staff who makes the customer experience exceptional n great taste of food. Very bad food. Visited the place first and last time based on some many good reviews. Very bad quality of food and worst experience. Chutney and sambhar were atleast 10 days old. Coconut chutney had too much curd and had no taste of coconut. Other chutneys were too sour. Sambhar had no taste. Better to have bread and butter at home than visiting this place. When I told it to serving guy, he was speechless. He could not say anything. Probably he knew it. Sarvana Bhawan and Guru Lakshmi are far too better than this place. Will never recommend this place to anyone.

Nice place, nice taste and hospitality.they open at around 4 or 5 pm I guess. Perhaps business hours can be increased.

I am a pregnant woman, was craving to eat some doses, came here twice in the same day just to be turned away, wait times of 1hr. I called them before going in to see if they would take a reservation but I was told it is first come first serve. The lady on the phone told us to come before 8pm. We were there at 7.45pm.the lady should have told me that it would take 45min to 1hr and we could have planned to come earlier but that info was not given. This was our first time to this place and I must say I am extremely disappointed with the poor customer service and I will never come back to this place ever again.

Taste was good. I love the Parotta with Chalna or Kurma. Almost close to Tamil Nadu restaurant's taste. Waiting time is longer in the weekend. Bad part was the service by those waitress. When I asked for additional paid chutney, i got it when I was about to finish eating.

We got there a little after 7pm on a Tuesday night and glad we did! Within 30 mins the place was packed. Once we had our food, we knew why.worth the drive.

One of the best restaurants for south indian food around cambrige waterloo area. Pricing is also proper. Medhu vadas are the best I liked with those three chutneys they provide. Also Dosa’s are properly crisped and well done. Only thing I will not recommend is their items with hakka sauce (chilli dosa and chilli idli)

The tall girl gives the worst customer service. She behaves as if she is the owner and has so much attitude. Like you're just cleaning dirty tables. Calm down girl. The only thing which brings us back is the dosa.

Dakshin never fails to amaze me with their excellent customer service. Even though they are fully packed and multiple delivery orders, they take care of customers nicely. I have tried almost everything on their menu and that couldn’t be better. Must-go place for authentic South Indian food. If you are going there on weekend, make sure to go half an hour ahead as they don’t book tables, but the food is worth the wait.

Today we visited Dakshin restaurant Cambridge. They serve authentic South Indian food. We ordered Dosa, vada, Idly, Sambar and all 3 types of chutneys and finally filter coffee. I highly recommend this restaurant who wants to have real South Indian food.

We have visited first time and had a great experience. Quick service, delicious food, numerous varieties, great quantity with affordable prices. Ultimate south Indian cuisine experience in Cambridge.

I went there for dinner with my friends. The place is good. The server memories the whole order. I admire her skills but then she messed up the spice level of different dishes for different guest. When we told her about that she said she made no mistake.
She could have at least use the pen and paper to note down the order. She refused to accept her mistake.

I would like to start with “ They are good for nothing “.
I went there for dinner it was very special day for me. Ordered 5 different Dosa, Paneer Dosa (they scrambled paneer and gave us), Rava Dosa with crispy, my sister requested 3x that can you please make sure that Dosa Should Crispy, waiters said it would take 20 mins, guess what happened Rava Dosa came first but no crispy at all completely soggy. Mysore Masala Dosa which came last after we all finished our dinner.
I have never seen such pathetic management like this.
I will won’t go and I will inform my all friends and family members about my experience.

Amazing is the word I would use for everything about dakshin. Never disappointed with the food quality and service. It is our go to place for authentic South Indian food and not even very expensive.
Just keep in mind they are usually busy, so have to wait but still no complains about it.
Would recommend 100%.

Food is really good. But always have 1 to 1.5 hr waiting and you won’t find food that you want to eat mostly rava dosa is never served

Worst customer service! They gave us wrong item and later when asked they told they gonna replace it, but what all we get is a 45 mins wait time and a rude reply from server women that “cook isn’t ready to prepare your order. “ so we asked her can we talk to the manager? Later comes on he epic reply that “manager isn’t here”.
That one star is given for the taste of the food! Which is totally below average. It’s not the food which gives you pleasure, but the customer service and satisfaction.

we order 5 dosa
they serve 1 dosa after half an hour serve another 3 and after everyone finish their dinner they got last dosa

The food here is awesome! Super fresh and flavourful. Very affordable, dinner for 2 with an app was only $32.5 stars for the food but unfortunately the service isn’t the best (not rude just inattentive)

Real authentic Tamil food! Amazing flavors! Their parotta kuruma is the best. All other dishes are also superb but parotta kuruma is exceptional. I see lot of people writing negative comments that they did not get free chutney & sambar, feels so childish, why don’t they just pay for it. The food tastes so amazing because it is prepared with quality elements. Keep it up, it’s truly a gem, ppl need know about this place.

Two aspects to my review:
1. Time mgmt. & Communication: To dine-in. I got to eat my food exactly after 120 minutes (2 hrs) after I booked my time.

2. Exceptional Food: Idly, Dosa was outstanding. Paaniyaram & Tawa idly my fav. Poori's aalo bhaji was bland.could have been better.

Food 4.5 & Time mgmt & Comm 2.5

3.5 stars only because of long wait for take out. Food was excellent, no need to go to Mississauga anymore for the same food.
Sambar was not enough to soak idlis in it. Also the foam container are not the best. One of the lids broke off and had foam balls all over the filling.
Will visit again for sure. Hope to see some changes. All the best guys.

I was here with my husband. It was our first time that we try south indian food. We ordered 1 KUZHIPANIYAARAM, 1 GHEE ROAST MASALA DOSA and one more different dosa (but i for got the menu;;) anyway, These were amazing taste. It was sooooooo tasty. I love it. And also the waiter was really nice. We will be back again.

Food is good. But the management is so poor. They wont accept reservations and when u walk in they would make you wait for hour. One has to go in restaurant and then wait outside to be seated for an hour, which is really frustrating.

Best south indian food in cambridge, though customer service isn't that good but still food is awesome.

Visited this place on advise of some one and was looking forward to a great meal. Infact waited a long time for our turn to come but the food was huge disappointment. The dahi vada lacked complete flavor. Infact I had to add the basic seasoning also by my own. The Mysore masala dosa was over almost burnt which tasted bad. The masala dosa was okay but sambhar was lacking the punch. The saving grace was the hoopers those were the life saver. I know they had busy night but food quality should be maintained.

The best place for South Indian food in Waterloo Region.very nice service, affordable. Highly recommended!

Dosa is really good and quantity for that price is reasonable.
And coming to uttapam i am would give only 3 stars.size of uttapam for such prize is not that great and they cooked it in a hurry.
I would suggest to go for anything apart from uttapam

Loved the Gun Power Masala Dosa and Chilly Paneer Dosa. The Chutney quantities could be increased. Slightly pricey but the flavours were on point. The Dosa was big enough to satisfy hunger for one person. Looking forward to try other dishes!

Authentic south Indian taste. If you are living in Kitchener Waterloo cambridge area you should go here. I like special swaminarayan menu. Sambhar is little bit thicker but it taste makes perfect. So, I would recommend to visit here with your friends and family. Have fun.

I had been for lunch yesterday. Inspite of long wait service was so good especially the girl was very helpful In choosing right food for our platter and kept making sure that we are given everything we need and ordered. I would love to visit more often and enjoy the food here. My only suggestion would be to play some music as it will complete the ambience.

It's my second week in Canada and my roommate told we can have some Dosa and took me to this restaurant. Well, I can tell you this I didn't expect to get good Dosa in Canada. But Dakshin nailed in creating the perfect food.
Dosa Idli vada everything was perfectly good in the tiffin.

One of the best Indian restaurants, I visited. The food is great. Even during the rush hours, they are keeping up the pace in serving. The people who are serving are friendly. One of the few go-to restaurants that come to my mind, for eating good food.

I have been meaning to get to Dakshin since it opened and finally made it this evening. My only regret is that I waited this long. If you want spicey, healthy, vegetarian food, you must check them out. Vadas and dosas were as good as any I had in Chennai, and the cutting chai capped off the meal beautifully. Very bad service super slow and tables were not cleaned and for half n hour nobody showed up at table to say hello/ hi. Servers need a lot of training about greeting people. Food arrived after 45 mins of order by that time it was 1hr n 15 mins already. Totally disappointed with service. Overall they need to improve there service before another better restaurant opens. Then they will regret how they could have made a good customer base with great service.
