We bought this kunafa just a few days ago and the guy in the store suggested this as the best, but honestly, this is the worst one so far in my life. Don’t recommended it, save your money!

Even a star is too much for these disrespectful freaks. They’ve got zero education, they only speak Gibberish instead of English, don’t know how to treat to customers and of course; dirty store to shop in. They are too far from civilization, such a shame.

Never ever, absolutely never go to Damas supermarket if you are white. In this store only customers, fully wrapped in fabric, and/or with covered faces, heads, & of dark colour are welcomed. Employees here clearly said it in our [yes, you guessed it - white] faces that we are not desired customers in their store. They don't even want our money, that's how opposed [to put it softly] they are to white people.
Seriously? In 2023? In Canada? In Ottawa? In Canadian Capital?
Hard to believe, but it's true. Also, extremely sad that those immigrants prefer to stay only in the crowd of their own tribes, & Canadians, who want to discover & explore food products from various countries, are not given the chance to do so.
There are no prices on the products, & when we were constantly asking how much is this, how much is that, employees were very rude, obviously showing that they don't want white customers in their store. My advice - just don't go there if you don't want your day to be ruined.

I’ve haven’t been in here in a long time. I visited today to get two simple things juice and baklava. To my surprise all 4 items including two drinks and two baklava costed $33. That too me is ridiculous. I definitely won’t be returning.

I love visiting Damas. The store is great and the employees are wonderful. Also, great thanks to Hanen, one of the employees who works there. Hanen assisted my old mother with her needs. We wish that Damas recognizes her warm and kind personality.

In the past, I found it very easy and convenient to shop here, I noticed the quality of meat has declined to the point that they hand me things that are clearly spoiled. On top of rude employees, they take their customers for granted, there are much better shops in the city.

I don't like the owner and he treats me so bad. Every time when I go this store he gave me old meat not a fresh one.

Butcher is rude and unprofessionnal. If i want to choose the meat that i like i can, you can't sell me the kind that YOU want! Last time for me there. Plenty of shops with better service and less rude employees.

3 stars only for the staff because they were very kind. But this is Another overpriced grocery store. Unfortunately their items are way more expensive than the nearby stores. For reference 1 litre of mustard oil was 10 CAD and another brand was 450ml for 9.99 CAD. Also I’m very careful in stores that do not have price tags. It’s an immediate red flag.

Very well stocked and clean. The meat guys are super friendly. A very good place for middle eastern groceries.

Sorry but I find stale/expired/moldy items every time I come here. I kept giving them another try as I wanted to support them but finally stopped after finding moldy bread.

Thank you for importing Bitter Ulker Gofret. I never liked regular one, and always wanted darknchocolate butter one. Today I got it, Yum!

This store is jam packed with middle eastern staples! Anything you could hope to find. Also, the Halal meats are outstanding AND well priced.

Because they have SO many wonderful products on offer, it can come across as cluttered or confusing. PLEASE, don't hesitate to ask for assistance. It's a wonderful store and an exceptional Halal market.

I'm regular customer in this story for last 10 years in and I have their point card.
I always comes three times a week but today I came to buy a bread the cashier gave with out bags when I asked him he show me unrespectful answer I hope they change the way how they deal with customer.

Damas is probably most popular middle-eastern store in Ottawa area. I found their products clean and shelves arranged.

Their meat section is especially great. People working in this section are knowledgeable about meat and meat products.

All in all, great shopping experience.

One star is way too much for the service.the guy behind the meat counter needs some english classes or some kind of service attitude training. Today Sept 30,2021 is the last day i ever shop at this place. Service is really bad and rude.
Lots of food stores in Ottawa, no need to drive to this one any more.

Pretty decent poultry and lamb. Usually larger cuts that we like. But they then size them up upon request. But yiu have to be there before 8: 30 Pm though.

Ribs I bought for kabab weren't edible, I got embarrassed amongst guests. Beef was rough too. Don't buy their meat.

Yesterday, I had an unpleasant interaction with the owner. I waited for a long time at the butcher's while the owner and 2 other people were just talking (non customers). I politely asked for help, the owner replied rudely: " you have to wait, we are busy here". I left the store immediately with no intention of going back. Unprofessional and arrogant. I prefer to spend money where I get respect.

All varieties of Mediterranean food are available at this store. Prices are a bit too high, but of good quality.

Great selection of spices and delicious food. They have Fresh Ethiopian Injera it is Amazing! Excellent customer service.

Their hummus is unbeatable in terms of price and taste. Also just overall an excellent grocery store with plenty of cheap produce, meat (especially marinated chicken), and a great nuts/seeds section! If you’re looking for a top quality Middle Eastern grocery store that sells halal products in Ottawa, you need to visit this place ASAP!

More and more quality products have arrived lately (very happy about what I found today _ Ülker simit and güllüoğlu yufka?)

Beware as this place sells you the lowest quality items from Turkey and Middle east with astronomical margin.

Being treated very rude and unprofessionally at the meat section today
Old man with eye glasses and face shield was very grumpy and rude
I took my meat and before I leave I told him
You have to treat customers with respect with no attitude
he started to talk lots of unnecessary things
Meantime one of young guy came from nowhere with new generation attitude started to throw words on me
Very unprofessional
Owner’s wife was there
She was very kind woman and apologised
But I was already very disappointed and decided not to go there anymore
Usually I buy $200 worth meat and groceries from there every month and my ex wife with 4 kids buying $300 worth meat and groceries from damas every month
But no more
They are now loosing $500 worth business every month because of that unprofessional behaviour

This store charged me $50 for 4 whole chicken.lol. He also charged me $3 extra to cut those chicken.lol. Price is very higher than other store. With this price I could buy 7 chicken from the other store with no charge for cutting the chicken.

I will recommend people, don't go there to waste your money. You can get more and better products with lower prices.

Place is very small and lot of people inside (covid-19) no rule
staff is unfriendly and pushing u to buy open box item.never saw this before any place in canada.

Great store have been shopping for almost 10 years get treated very well! Always surprise me with wonderful different types of products every week! Plus they are open throughout any holiday of the year

Products are bit unorderly and untidy but it’s ok. I hope they find bigger place for better service one day. You can find halal and Turkish foods.

I've been coming here since 2002. Its come a long way since then. I'm giving 4 stars bcuz prices can be a bit high but meat and other product quality is consistent. I like the deli meat options in the deli cooler although I would make it a bit affordable. Good otherwise

The dry grocery section is good. Can't comment on the meat section as I haven't bought from there.

Guy in the meat section who newly joined is very harsh and he doesn't know how to behave with customers and he was demanding to say please else he wouldn't cut chicken and my friend told please eventhough he didn't cut the chicken properly. Beware of that rude person

If you don't belong to the same or cannot greet in the same, then DON'T GO HERE. One butcher particularly shows extreme rude attitude. He teaches manners with no context such as "how to stand properly", say "please", etc only to others just by looking at your attire and the way you wish. Saying a mere "Hello" will enrage his and then he would force customers to leave if his orders aren't obeyed without any sensibility and courtesy. He wasn't teaching same manners to own people, but, of course, looking at the other reviews, it's inferred that he cheats them too with bad quality supply. (TRY YOURSELF IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE THIS REVIEW). @Owner: If you're are a truthful person try to educate him that he's in Canada rather attacking 1 star reviews.

Very friendly service, great assortment. It’s hard to visit this supermarket with kids because they want to buy everything. 5 stars!

It a good place to get middle Eastern and Turkish food and they also sell Halal meat almost all types.

Very expensive and poor quality meat. The salesman is a cheater. I asked for for fresh pieces of meat, he took the tray and secretly filled the bag with chunks not fresh. It looks like the meat of an old cow. It's really a shame for people who sell halal. I absolutely do not recommend buying your halal meat there.

Don't buy your meat there, It's a poor quality and no fresh. On top of that the non friendly staff who don't care about customers. I'm sending my complain to the competents services with specimen now.

A bit more expensive than other super markets. It's better to buy the things that you won't find in other markets

Love coming here to get my halal meat. I live out of town and halal meat is limited where I live. Have tried everything from chicken to their fast fry steaks. Never been disappointed. The butcher is very helpful on how to cook the meats perfectly.

The only place I buy beef in Ottawa. It’s really difficult finding good cuts of beef with evenly cuts. I mean where else can you find the different cuts of beef on display. Also, having variety cuts of fresh lamb and goat instead frozen (though it is an option, spend a little more)

Great butcher, very nice staff and meat all looked amazing. Cool coming somewhere the butcher calls you brother or sister. They have a good selection of breads including fresh Turkish bread and Ethiopian njera bread which I haven't seen anywhere else. I'd come back for sure.

A little bit tight place but has a wide selections of halal food from different countries that you may won’t find anywhere else plus the meet and chicken. They speak English and Arabic, not sure about other languages.

Lots of interesting middle eastern ingredients that are hard to find in Ottawa, friendly staff. Aisles are very full, take your time and look around.

Just got back from there. Bought two 3 kings rolls of charcoal. The aluminum wrapping seemed wrinkly and I thought maybe the box fell etc.did not give it a second thought. Opened it now and it was not 3 kings charcoal but one of those awful smelling cheap kind rolled into the 3 king aluminium foil unless its plain and simply fake kind. Looks like and smells like the cheap starlight charcoal.

Very disappointed as I went to closer store and they had none, then went here and now I can barely use theses.

Thanks for the offer but simply not worth it to drive there for 4 dollars worth of product. Over 20 years of using 3 Kings I have never seen this, so I still stick to either fake product or tampered with. Shape, smell, how it lights up, the ash and the duration is not the same.

Great place for buying halal meat. Love the staff here. The quality of the meat is amazing and it's very fresh. I also like their spice section as well as their dairy section. Great halal supermarket!

Great store, go there to get Tunisian harissa and Moroccan couscous and Turkish bread. Also spices that I can't find at superstore or sobeys such as Ras el Hanout mixed north african spice for couscous, they get it from Montreal, excellent!

Over the years quality has gone down, i have shopped here for over 10 years. The owner sells products for three times the price. He knows that Muslims want a halal store to buy from and he manipulates prices. I went there a week ago and a bottle of Vimto was $12, a bag of 3% milk was $7. Completely unreasonable. Management needs to take these reviews and implement positive change within their shop, not argue with customers online.

Edit: the owner just proved my point. If you want, I can post my previous receipts as an attachment. We can compare pricing on all items not just the ones that have been previously listed. Good day.
