I was visiting Ottawa from Toronto and made a special stop in Almonte to check out the beautiful textiles at Darrell Thomas Textiles. The store has a fabulous range of high quality fabrics and Darrell was an absolute pleasure to meet - friendly and hospitable, he even set us up with a reservation at a lovely nearby restaurant.

Thank you for another great online fabric order. There aren't many independant fabric or sewing stores left where I live. I was glad to find your store online with unique fabrics. I like the helpful website information too. For example, I like it that project recommendations are given with the fabrics and the addition of which thread colours complement the fabrics. It makes it easier to know what fabrics are suitable for and what colourways they are. For example, I learned recently that I look terrible in bright cobalt blue. The thread matching feature is helpful to choose better colours. The staff also seem happy to answer questions by telephone. In my most recent order someone sent me a lifesaver. I don't eat candy but I appreciate the sweet sentiment and Darrell Thomas Textiles.

I visited Darrell at his store in Almonte today and had the most wonderful experience. Darrell was so professional, and when I told him I hadn't sewn in about 25 years, he was very helpful. We debated various fabrics for the skirt I want to make and also, he gave me suggestions on how to alter my pattern, etc. I went in feeling somewhat overwhelmed and came out raring to get started. I will definitely return!

A beautiful store in a charming place. Im from Montreal, so not really in my area but would go back with pleasure to find that special quality fabric and what not to say about the buttons! If like me you just love a button and dont really have a project to use it, well just turn it into a jewel like a ring like i did! The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable. So definately a place to put in my notebook for fabric store!

My new favourite fabric store! My package was shipped almost immediately, arrived very quickly and I was emailed updates every step of the way. I love Darrell Thomas Textiles. The quality and selection of the fabric is out of this world. It is so nice to have high end fabric at a reasonable price.
During the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, Darrell donated many scrub caps to local hospitals and LTC homes for health care staff to have this needed and difficult to get PPE. He also went out of his way with on-line shopping and curbside pick-up for the cotton fabric elastic, and other supplies that were difficult to find but we all needed to make our own masks. Thank you!

Darrell Thomas has been a wonderful blessing in my life. I started to find the most unusual buttons in Ottawa.
Then I came for the perfect adjustment of a dress.
I bought some beautiful fabric in different shops and also in Darrell's shop,
What was so special was the pleasant and warm atmosphere in that store.
I have worked with two different seamstress, both of them so kind, flexible and competent. I was so welcome when I had quite a number of garments made for me. I did not bring any patterns but a rough sketch. After discussing about the feasibility of each garment, it was beautifully made.
The prices were also reasonable.
I have now the most original, elegant wardrobe fitting all my needs and tastes.

I discovered Darrell Thomas Textiles when I moved to Ottawa 7 years ago. They were located on Preston St. At the time. I immediately fell in love with the place- like old familiar- the same feeling like I had in the material district on Ottawa St. In Hamilton where I was from. I took a class to learn how to make a cushion. Loved this class taught by Niq. I love the materials available and all the buttons.

A finished garment is only as good as the quality of the fabric, and Darrell Thomas is TOP NOTCH. You must meet Darrell! A very gifted sewer, designer and experienced teacher with a famous sense of humour. I love shopping there. 5 stars all the way!

Add to that the fact that their customer service is beyond compare and completely outstanding.best fabric store in the province hands down! Best online as well! Darrell is an amazing person who always has time to listen to what it is I want to make and has never failed to direct me in the appropriate direction with great tact and care - thankfully saving me from a button fiasco just last week by steering me towards something infinitely better than what I was thinking of. The square buttons are so beautiful. Khala is equally knowledgeable and helpful and has helped me work through the puzzle of which fabric will be best over the phone. This pandemic has been tough on small businesses and the way Darrell has pivoted to online and helped the community with the mask and surgical cap projects speaks truly to the person that he is and the model for his business.
