Two and a half years ago (February 2020), I brought my cat in for a dental cleaning. The office called me in the late afternoon to tell me the procedure went "perfectly" and that the cat would be in great shape to come home in the morning. In the morning, the vet called me to tell me that the cat had suddenly and unexpectedly gone into cardiac failure. Then, shortly after, the vet called again to tell me that he had to euthanize the cat.

My 10-year-old cat died in this clinic's care following a routinely scheduled dental cleaning in February of 2020.

Prior to the procedure, over a period of several years, I had raised concerns about the risks of dental cleaning, since the cat had responded poorly to anesthetic once in the past. Each time, my concerns were dismissed. I have multiple email threads with the business about my concerns, and I had multiple conversations with the vet about why I was worried. I was always told that everything would be fine.

The dental cleaning was scheduled following the vet's ongoing, strong recommendation. He insisted that dental cleaning would improve the cat's quality of life by reducing the cat's gum inflammation and irritation. Unfortunately, as I feared, the cat died.

Just to emphasize what happened: I brought in my cat for a routine dental cleaning at the recommendation of this vet, and my cat then died in their care the day following the procedure.

I have documentation concerning everything noted in this review.

They took very good care of the little dog I brought in that was run over by a car (She's fine). You can tell that the people working there had a real love and respect for the animals that they treat. It is also a very nice place. As in this is a type of place that you may need to consider your budget before going. There was also a sweet kitty in the lobby which was a bonus.

Dr. Foster and his team are caring, professional, listen attentively, have a great sense of humour, are quick to demonstrate a genuine love for animals, and have a well-equipped and modern practice, What truly differentiates this practice from other vet practices is their communication and respect. They consult and inform animal owners of the various options available to them, with both the pro's and con's, and make suggestions but respect the decision of the owner. This is so refreshing given some of the possibly manipulative practices used by other clinics that leave you wondering if you're just a transaction. Back in the 1990's our cat, Sophie, had been traumatically hit by car and our regular vet wanted us to wait a couple of days to be seen! Dr. Foster, even with no appointment, made accommodations for us and saw Sophie right away. His clinic is well equipped and all diagnostic imaging was done onsite. With a spinal injury, our cat lost the ability to pee, and with Dr. Foster's guidance we tried a variety of therapies (none worked, but he warned us of this strong risk). He then found a solution, teaching us to treat the cat on our own, allowing our cat to live a regular life and saving us tens of thousands of dollars. Sophie (and us) were always made to feel special and there was always a personal connection - especially important when your pet ages and difficult decisions need to be made.

Great visit this morning as always. Friendly service and alway attentive. Dr. Foster & Tracy & the team have been looking after our beloved furbaby for 5 years! Highly recommend these guys!

*Also I would just like to point out with regards to reviews about prices. It's Toronto! Vets are expensive! DRAH is walking distance for us and thank god! I'm sure there are lots of great vets in the city, actually I'm pretty sure of it as Toronto has over 230,000 dogs! But Dr. Foster is our Family Veterinarian and we are greatful and we appreciate him! He saved our dogs life when the emergency vet couldn't as they misdiagnosed a life threatening illness as neurological when it was far from it 5 years ago. We still have our dog in our lives and we cherish her every day because of Dr. Foster & Tracy.these are just facts! This was our story! Hope it helps another family x

When I moved to the neighborhood 6 years ago and adopted a dog, I looked for the closest vet and by chance, this was it and I am so glad it was because they are the best. They recognize my dog, Cookie, instantly every time, even before we get through the door. They have the best service and appropriate prices and best of all, everyone there shows that they truly love caring for dogs. Tracey and her team make our vet trips so much fun every time.

Great care and service! We were given options and all costs up front so we could choose how we took care of our dog. Amazing!

I have taken my dog to see Dr. Foster for 7 years and the doctor has always been straight to the point and full of useful information about and for my dog. I've always liked Dr. Foster.

However, I have found in recent years that Tracey, the manager, always tries to upsell me on more tests and shots that even Dr Foster himself had deemed unnecessary (I did not notice this in the first few years from Tracey, only the last 2 or 3). Then, if I decline, she has made me feel guilty if I decide to leave something out, which I find totally unfair. My dog is my pet and it is my ultimate decision on what is best for my dog.

Not only that, I recently requested a quote for my dog's annual check up and all required shots. This took a week for them to complete. I called to a few other vets and nearly every other one was able to give me a quote while on the phone with me, and most were around 60% of what Davenport Road charges! It's as though they charge that amount just because they know well-off people live in the area. Well, they seriously need to consider that not everyone is rich living around there. I have switched my vet for my dog at this time. I'm disappointed because it was nice to have a regular place to go to.

On a positive note, the vet techs have always been more than friendly. One even used to deliver my sister's cat's medication from time to time.
