I am 15 months post op from double jaw surgery with Dr. Psutka, and I am extremely unhappy with my results for several reasons. Prior to surgery, I didn't have any noticeable issues and I had absolutely no issues breathing or chewing. Unfortunately I suffered a lot from jaw pain (from grinding my teeth my entire life). The pain was very overwhelming but was not TMJ (my joints were perfectly healthy and it was entirely muscular pain). I went to an orthodontist to see if he had any ideas for the pain, and he said my narrow palate and/or facial asymmetry might be contributing to the pain and referred me to a surgeon. I requested to be referred to Dr. Psutka instead, I thought he was the best. So I ended up doing SARPE and DJS and my face is completely destroyed now. There's a lot I could say but this post would be extremely long, so to summarize: I now have severe lip incompetence, a severe gummy smile, and a very long face. In one of my follow up appointments I brought up the lip incompetence and Dr. Psutka shrugged and said "well you were already dealing with lip incompetence for years". This is not true! I did not have lip incompetence prior to surgery, I did not even know it existed, I found out when I was googling "can't close my lips after jaw surgery" and found out lip incompetence is a thing but usually a reason people GET jaw surgery, not an outcome. Also, even if I did have it prior that is still not a nice response from the doctor, because it should've been fixed in the surgery. But to reiterate, I did not have it before. Did he confuse me with another patient? Why did he think I had it before? My lips used to close naturally and easily and I was often complimented on my lips. Now I have to consciously force them closed and this results in strange dimples all over my chin. When I pointed that out, Dr. Psutka said "if it bothers you you can get some Botox". I don't even think that would work because Botox relaxes muscles, and my muscles need to work to be able to reach the upper lip and close. It's exhausting and it's something I have to think about all day! Another reason people get surgery is for a gummy smile. I did NOT have a gummy smile prior to surgery. Now I do, a bad one. The doctor made my upper jaw so long that when I smile it is all gums. Before surgery, sure I was a bit asymmetric but overall I looked nice and normal. I used to be complimented once in a while by strangers. Now I look like something is wrong with my jaw, my mouth sits at a slant, my smile is all gums, and all day I am forcing my lips closed. I am objectively way less beautiful now. I've asked multiple people who are honest with me and think my surgery was botched.
Another thing is that when I requested my photos and X-rays they said no, they're not available for patients & they're only for Dr. Psutka's research. I found that really bizarre.

It's all about money! Consult cost a fortune! He didnt even look in my son's mouth. On surgery day you pay first & he didnt do part of the surgery. Not recommended!

My daughter was a patient of Dr. Psutka over several years, during a series of complex surgeries due to a health condition. Beginning at the very first meeting, Dr. Psutka was friendly and welcoming at every single appointment. He was very informative about each stage, always approachable for any questions we had, and we quickly felt totally sure that we could entrust our daughter’s procedures to him. The end result was absolutely wonderful and life changing for our daughter. Dr. Psutka is an incredibly skilled surgeon, and we wholeheartedly recommend him.

If I could give 5 stars over and over I would. Dr. Psutka has changed my life. I suffered from TMJ for 7 years. My life was painful. I had to quit my job, and change so many basic things in my life. Dr. Psutka took his time to listen to me and understood my suffering. After years of trying non-invasive methods that did not improve my TMJ, he did an arthrocentesis surgery on my jaw 2 weeks ago. I know it has only been 2 weeks but wow, I feel like a brand new person. It is the first time in my adult life that I feel pain free and …normal. Thanks to Dr. Psutka and the incredibly kind + professional team, I had a very smooth procedure & recovery. Thank you so much for allowing me to have a happy life now!

Didn't appreciate the receptionist calling me ONE day before my appointment telling me I have to come 30 minutes earlier. I booked a later afternoon appointment for reason. Very unprofessional!

Thank you Dr. Psutka for taking on my father's complex case and working meticulously to help restore his day-to-day functions. Your top notch skills and bedside manners are truly admirable. A huge thanks to the rest of the team for helping coordinate the dozens of appointments we came to, and a special thanks to Karen, your honesty and relentlessness to help beyond what's required really made our dark situation brighter, night and day, I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

It was recommended I go see Dr. Psutka after I severely broke my jaw a number of years ago. I am out of province and the wait time for my surgery ended up being four years. Although this was a long time it was well worth the wait to have Dr. Psutka do my surgery! After breaking my jaw I had 15% functioning, severe daily chronic pain, and difficulty speaking, chewing, and swallowing. Dr. Psutka was able to repair my jaw by giving me joint prosthetics and correcting my bite to provide me with 95% functioning and much less pain. My overall health has become significantly better and I am very grateful for this! He did a fantastic job on all aspects of my surgery and I've had a great recovery. Dr. Psutka was extremely kind, compassionate, professional, and transparent with me about my situation and throughout my surgery process. He was clear about what I could expect from my surgery and what my recovery would be. I am very fortunate and privileged to have Dr. Psutka as my surgeon and am grateful he continues to benefit society with his knowledge and expertise!

Called Dr. David office and for my TMJ problem and she told me 1 and half years waiting. How can patient who has TMJ pain wait for 1 and half year? I respect the specialist but it is totally unfair.
