My experience was around 5 years ago give or take. I never got around to writing a review because everytime I went to I found myself visibly upset reliving the experience but I think it’s finally time I share the discrimination that me and my boyfriend at the time faced from this establishment. I called this hotel in the afternoon and asked if they had any rooms available for that night and the woman on the phone was extremely kind to me and assuring that there was a room. Keep in mind she actually mentioned they had multiple rooms available, not just one. I told her the time I would be coming in to book and showed up at that time. When we arrived, we walked in the hotel and 3 employees looked us up and down and asked how they could help us. We explained that I talked to one of them on the phone and that we needed a room for the night. They immediately go “oh.no. Sorry but you need to leave we can’t help you”. I will admit we were dressed casual but not ‘slobby’ in anyway. Just jeans and a simple t-shirt. Me and my boyfriend at the time both had (still do) piercings and a few tattoos. We weren’t even fully covered in them or anything quite literally just a few. (Maybe 3 each AT MOST, Not on the face or anything just arms) This is the only reason I can think that they would deny us, based on our appearance and the judgmental looks the staff were giving us. One of them practically scoffed at us almost like a ‘what are you even doing here’ type attitude. It was very strange and I have never experienced this at any other hotel before. We decided not to even argue with them based on the disrespect I didn’t give them the time of day after that and left.
Amazing and beautiful experience with DELTA Hotels in Guelph. Starting with a very helpful, care, kind Front Desk Agent called TANYA. She is highly expert lady and exert great concern for us to have comfortable stay. The room is so clean, tidy, calm and contain all the electric machines you need in your stay. The services are very good. I know that DELTA Hotel is 4 stars, but actually DELTA Hotel DESERVE 5 STARS or more.this is NOT exaggeration, but it is a FACT.
Hotel room was spacious clean and comfortable. Shower, bed and pillows all great quality. Easy access to conference Center, 5 minutes to roll out of bed and get to the room.
The hotel is nice. I happen to stay there while a hockey tournament was in town. Most of the hockey parents used the hall to socialize so it was very loud.
Rooms are well laid out. One room had a nice whirlpool tub. The sitting area was large and clean. Bedroom was off to the back. Not every room is the same. Everything was clean and well maintained.
Great hotel, very clean. I would like to say the front desk agent, Tanya, was very nice she acknowledged me being a gold member, she up graded us. I would really recommend this hotel and stay here again.
Room was clean and a decent size. KS bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was small, but adequate and clean. Service at the front desk was friendly. They add a $75 charge to your CC for incidentals which is removed afterwards. Free parking for guests staying at the hotel. I would stay here again and would recommend this hotel.
I’ll start straight away by saying this was probably the best hotel stay I’ve ever had. Really, really exceptional staff who genuinely want you to have a nice time. Really clean rooms. Beautiful hotel. Wonderful restaurant with great staff and food/drink. I’ll definitely be back here again sometime. Well worth the price you pay as you get great value for your money.
Where do I start? The check in was the best part of the stay. We frequent the Delta Hotel Guelph quite often and are most often happy with our stay; however on our January 18th recent stay in room 333 was terrible. Our room was clean and orderly upon arrival but freezing cold. I immediately turned up the heat but it didn't warm up until I turned on the fan located on the wall unit. However it was so noisy we had to turn the volume up on the television. The bedroom heater was worse, loud and blew cool air on me all night. The remainder of the night consisted of my husband and I having major heartburn after eating at Bar Mason. At 2 am my husband projectile vomited into the toilet. Probable food poisoning. Needless to say we got very little sleep. We were not impressed one bit by our experienes on this stay.
We stayed here for a short getaway. Everything was excellent. The rooms were large and clean. The only problem is they need some new mattresses. I'm no princess but after a couple days my back was killing me. One of the mattress had a huge concave to it. Not good for sleeping. A nice hotel like this should keep better quality mattress in the rooms.
Terrible overall experience was over charged then charged more then the original rate I had been billed for management was awful room was decent but overall experience was quite disappointing will be sure to pay at the desk when checking in
Had a nasty experience at this hotel. Went to a Christmas party and after the bartender took my money for a drink he went to another member of the hotel staff and had that person tell me I was showing signs of intoxication. I initially said okay and started to head towards my wife who was my driver but then I realized if you’re going to refuse to serve me then you shouldn’t have taken my money. I went to the hotel staff member who told me I was showing signs of intoxication and asked for my money back and he said “all drink tickets are non refundable. ” Why did the bartender take my drink ticket to begin with if he thought I was intoxicated? If the bartender isn’t trained enough or doesn’t know enough to say no then maybe he shouldn’t have the job. I have written at least one positive review about the restaurant in this hotel but after this experience I will never return to Delta or Bar Mason. Very unprofessional po
Checked out feeling exhausted. I was in town to visit an elderly family member. The hotel staff were wonderful. The bed was extremely comfortable, unfortunately I was woken up by the fire alarm. The whole building was evacuated and I sat in my car to keep warm while we waited. Once cleared to go back in, I assumed I would be able to return to sleep. This was not the case until 1: 30am. There was a teenage hockey team checked into the hotel, who were ridiculously noisy. It felt like I was listening to a high school party. The front desk told me they would take care of it and that the parents had been notified. The parents were worse than the children as they tried to quite them down. Basically yelling at them from the hallway. I’m not sure at what point an established hotel such as the Merrit Delta makes the call to ask guests to leave, but I’m thinking this is one of them. I was beyond unimpressed!
