I ordered a cake online that showed it was in stock. The next day, they told me it wouldn't be prepared in time. They offered me an alternative, and the only ones available were smaller cakes and they told me I'd need two of them to serve the same amount of people. However, they didn't offer any deal for this inconvenience. In fact, the price of the two cakes were more than twice the price of the single cake, despite the two cakes serving the same amount of people as the single cake. I think if your website is inaccurate that forces someone to change their entire order, you should be offered compensation or a discount, which did not happen in this instance. Do not recommend.
Great place for dessert. My favorite of the four we had was the pistachio dessert. We also got a hot cocoa which was rich and went well with the desserts. Eat someplace near and come here for dessert, you won't regret it.
We randomly stopped in and it was such an amazing experience after a busy day. The pastry I got was delicious and the Americano was one the best I've ever had. Everyone there was super nice and I Iove how bright and open the space was.
Delicious treats! Best in the city. I recommend the pistachio, thanks to the expertise help of executive chef Jeremy. Recommended to all my peers to try this place out! Enjoy.
Very delicious variety of French pastries! I bought 8 types and they were all phenomenal. My top three choices are the Nutella tiramisu, Choco crunch, and Pistachio tarte.
These desserts are works of art. The decor in this spot is gorgeous and the service superb. It was difficult to choose just one dessert, but we managed to get a strawberry cheesecake that was creamy and delicious. The Americano was served in a beautiful coffee cup and everything about this experience was perfection.
Have always loved Delysees from their time on King West, I think this location is even better! Their new cake creations are delicious, and I really like the display cabinets showcasing their wares. They've now introduced dessert cocktails which are equally delicious!
Was in the area and wanted to check out this spot as the pastries looked delicious and the decor inside was beautiful. I had a cappuccino and the pistachio tart. The coffee was good but the pistachio tart was sadly frozen so was pretty inedible which was extremely disappointing. For a total of $20 I was expecting much more. Service was very friendly.
Beautiful and tasty desserts! Sometimes they look good but aren’t delicious, but these cakes live up to their appearance. The strawberry shortcake was so well made and the layers done beautifully. The cream was extremely light and fresh. The tiramisu was also light, airy, fluffy, and not too sweet.
I would come back to try the other cakes if I was in the area!
I have been trying to order a cake from Delysees for 12 days via voicemails, Instagram messages, their own website chat, and nothing! They always say someone will get back to me and silence. The only reason I tried so diligently was because my mother specifically said she wanted a cake from them for her birthday.
UPDATE: Fred, the owner, got in touch with me immediately, was super apologetic and made everything right and then some. My mom is so happy with her beautiful and delicious cake! THANK YOU FRED & TEAM!
We love Delysees! It’s the perfect spot to find eye-catching desserts for special occasions or even to grab a coffee and a tasty treat. Whenever we have friends or family to visit Toronto, we make sure to bring them here and it’s always a highlight. The staff are very pleasant as well. It’s a very calming and luxurious place (there’s space for a stroller too!) Excited to see where you guys expand next!
Lifesaver of a place! I had an issue with a cake elsewhere and had to find the closest cake place and I am so glad I went to delysees! Great enviroment and decor, the barista was so sweet and helped me out with the cakes! Although they couldn’t do a custom writting on the spot they offered a nice card I could write on which I accepted because it was better than nothing. Beautiful cake and dessert selection so glad I came here. I would love to come here again to properly enjoy the ambiance and service!
I ordered the popular cakes (pistachio and tiramisu). They were excellent, my family and guest loved them. Great execution and service, and I will definitely order again!
Great experience having a treat here. Everything is perfect, beautiful little things from the spoon to the interior design. Highly recommend it and def come back to try more. Thank you Fred for the hospitality I really appreciate it!
We are regulars. We love the ambience, the service we get, and the cakes are devine. If you look at the options online they appear expensive - and they are- but experience will tell you that a visit is worth the expense. It's lovely and cool on a hot day.
I am so glad that they have vegan dessert options! Even my non vegan friends absolutely loved it. The business owner went out of his way to make sure I was happy with my order. Many thanks! I will totally order again from here.
We ordered the Praline hazelnut rocher. Good things first - the cake tasted good.
Now onto the actual review. The cake is SMALL. For reference, its smaller than the packet of birthday candles that we bought, and maybe 2 fingers high. If you have had a big dinner, this can probably serve two people after that. In no way can this serve 6 people, which is what it said under the description. It was embarrassing in front of my guests, not to mention nowhere near worth the price of $30.
EDIT: Alright, so a lot has happened since I last posted this review. The owner Fred reached out to me, and delivered me himself another complementary cake of my choice. I chose the nutella tiramisu (the white cake).
I am reviewing my original review because I am very impressed with the store's dedication to customer service. And in terms of taste both the cakes deserve 10/10. They have won be over with their product and determination, and I definitely recommend it!
Picked up a birthday cake yesterday, the Trio Cloud, and wow! The absolute best cake we’ve had in the city. Extremely light and fresh for an all chocolate cake. The balance in taste is just incredible. There are many places in the city that serve “pretty” desserts and can’t componsate with taste, but Delysees really delivers in both areas. Everything looks super elegant and tastes as good as they look. We’ve been a customer of theirs for years (recently purchased a small strawberry cake that was also incredibly light and tasty) and everything else they have is superb as well, but their large cakes are something else, there is just nothing like it in the city. Their new space on Ossington is also stunning! An absolute “must try” for everyone.
This is a must visit when you're in Toronto! The desserts are high quality, you would think they shipped it from France! Im in love with their creative take on classic flavors and their artistic flare. Rare find in Toronto. My Recommendation: Gluten Free Macarons!
I don't know why I even go to places with entremets in Toronto because they turn out like this.
I had a green apple entremet, around 10$ where the compote/jelly layer had way too much setting agent and was basically a stiff jelly, it was gross. The biscuit was also soggy.
Another entremet, which was exotic fruits (mango, passion, coconut) was thankfully edible, but the biscuit was also soggy and the mousse was kind of bland and boring.
I feel like luxury is just another word for unnecessarily complicated and pretty with no quality control. This was a waste of money. You can probably make something better at home.
Yesterday i went there expecting a better experience with the macarons. I bought 9 macrons that are worth 30$ and 1 ended up stale or burnt. Essentially the vanilla birthday cake macron was stale. Kind of felt like a waste tbh
Me and my family went to the Delysées and we all come to the conclusion that cakes were amazing. They tasted delicious and looked delicious as well. The drinks were also delicious however, the hot chocolate is a different story. Its not that it's bad, it's just not the normal sweet hot cholate you would buy at a grocery story since its made from pure chocolate. I didn't enjoy the taste so I told one of the employs and they were kind enough to give me it for free. So I would recommend asking them if they can make it a bit more sweeter if you don't like the taste of pure chocolate.
First in store visit was perfect, a young man helped me out, the packaging and desserts were stunning. My family loved the cakes that I had to buy again but it was probably due to the Valentine's Day weekend rush this time that caused the lack of quality.
I had my cousin go pick up the cake while I was in the car and I was very disappointed with what came back. The bag was ripped and covered in icing while the boxes were also covered in some sort of substance. When we opened the box one of the cakes had been toppled over, my cousin says it may have happened when the employee attempted to fix the bag while handing it over to her. After spending quite a bit of money here a few times I'm a bit disappointed and I don't think I will be coming back if I won't be getting the quality I paid for. Very embarrassing after raving about the cakes to my family and having to give them this.
A friend brought these by the house to sample and I literally couldn’t believe my eyes. These desserts are a true work of art and taste just as good as they look. Awesome work on these creations to the team there as I can’t wait to go visit them one day in person when I’m in that area
Realizing how long this post is after writing it, here is a quick summary- packaging and visuals: 5/5 tastes, textures: 5/5 service: 5/5 value for price: 5/5
In short, I REALLY enjoyed my experience with Delysees:)
This bakery absolutely lives up to its name of luxury desserts! If you want to spoil someone and make them feel extra special, you’ll want to get them Delysees. My experience with them from beginning to end, was incredible.
I had several questions about different items online and they were very quick to respond which helped with my ordering.
I also had the pleasure of receiving items both via delivery and in-store. First, I loved the communication I received from the delivery driver - not sure if it’s the norm or mine just happened to be exceptional that day but he called me before arriving, giving me about 10 mins head’s up, plus he was super friendly.
From the moment I was handed the gorgeous black and gold bag, I felt assured that the person to whom I was gifting would be impressed and love it at first sight! Definitely got, “ooh”s and, “ah”s when boxes were opened too. The base on which the desserts were placed were even customized with the store’s signature black and gold design matching the bag and box instead of a generic cardboard/silver cake base being used.
Each item inside was beautiful and seemed to be handled with the utmost care. Didn’t see a single weird, out of place lump on these desserts!
Taste and textures were exquisite. I really loved that the pastries werent just super sweet sugar bombs. I find that some places just make raspberry flavoured things overly sweet and loses all its tartness but found that theirs was a perfect balance. (passionfruit is also super yummy here!)
I was pleasantly surprised with the larger than expected portion sizes. Some fancy places give you these annoyingly small bite sizes. Treats here mostly seem to be a decent shareable size (depending how good u are at sharing haha).
Some of the individual desserts I had were placed on a biscuit base which I think is a really fun, thoughtful touch. Most places just place things on a piece of cardboard/foil, but Delysees throw in an extra little, bonus cookie - I dont think it’s meant to be part of the main feature but you can def eat it with a cup of tea.
Also had a chance to stop by their cafe (sidebar, location is across the street from a popular Toronto brewery so if anybody needs to try and convince their partner who enjoys beer to visit Delysees, you get desserts and they can pick up some beer!) - super cute inside, clean and elegant decor, in-store staff also very warm and welcoming.
Price is very reasonable compared to other similar style Toronto bakeries but Delysees has one of the best packaging. One of the cakes I ordered was only $50 - unique flavour combo that wasn’t offered anywhere else (coconut, chocolate, raspberry YUM!), comfortably serves 10 people. Other ones I found at that price point only served 6 so I would have to get a larger size but then I would be charged $20+ more.
If i had one crticism, it would be that their website doesn’t share all the info that I needed (eg, ingredients due to allergies, care instructions because some items weren’t going to be eaten same day) so I had to contact them but again, they’re SUPER responsive so not really a problem (and on par w other bakery websites I searched lacked similar info). Also, I personally like being able to see what a cake looks like inside (eg, layers) and not many cakes have that picture avail online (neither do other bakery websites) but I decided to take a chance and am soooo happy that I did!
I have no doubt that I will be ordering from here again in the future!
Ordered the chocolate passionfruit cake and two lattes at Delysees for a quick desert date. The passion fruit jelly in the cake was a nice and tart component to a rich chocolate desert. The two lattes were dissapointing as they were quite watered down so we wouldn't order that again next time. Staff is super friendly!
Delicious desserts and great customer service! A bit on the pricy side, so a great treat to yourself after a long week. I would also suggest taking the time to actually sit there, the atmosphere is nice with lots of seating. I loved the earl grey dessert and the passionfruit-mango macaroon was to die for! Will definitely be back
I love their sweets and pastries. The tea they serve is awesome! The only reason that I’m giving a 4-star rating are as follow: 1. They’re just using a Nespresso machine for the coffee. For a French pastry of this scale, prestige, and price, I’d expect them to serve premium espresso coffees with proper espresso machines. 2. They need to retrain their staff on customer service. It just seems the staff are not trained well and efficient. 3. I was among the first 10 to get into the store on the weekend. However, the almost croissants were sold out already before I could get to them. I learned their kitchen is not in-house, but they need to do a better demand planning.
Other than that, I should say they are one of the best in town and highly recommend it to you!
Amazing customer service! Fred is truly a gem of a human. Can't wait to order for myself from this Toronto institution, but in the meantime I'm happy my client is happy with their gift from Delysées all thanks to Fred.
Choose carefully. Ordered La Royal cake for my husband’s birthday. It was amazing and we really enjoyed it! But we ordered Large Nutella Tiramisu cake for my birthday and it was a huge disappointment.
The glaze is thick and the taste is overpowering that you can’t taste any Nutella. The cake is too creamy without much texture so eating it was not pleasant. Felt like eating baby food. Calling it tiramisu just because it is made with mascarpone cheese is misleading. The cake description states that there are “layers of coffee and vanilla sponge cake” but there is only one layer in the bottom that is way too thin you hardly know it’s there.
Ordered the croissant collection but we replaced almond croissants with cheese. I’m not sure what type of cheese it is but it has a burned taste to it. They are filled with something like béchamel (I guess) whatever it is was not delicious. I ended up removing the cheese and the filling. Butter and chocolate croissants were good.
Owner and staff are very friendly. Delivery was on time.
Truly, the best cake we've ever eaten (Large Nutella and Tiramisu cake), and seen, loooked exactly like the photos. We are forever Delysees customers and look forward ot ordering all future desserts from here! Additionally, the customer service and delivery was outstanding!
Thank you for the hand-delivered anniversary cake, Fred. We really enjoyed your creation and it made our day very special. Will be ordering from here always- it was such a tasty cake. I can’t wait to try the others.
This place is amazing! I ordered a cake and macaroons for my wife’s birthday and I must say both things were super delicious! The items were well worth the price and I absolutely cannot forget the exception customer service the owner Fred showed. I highly recommend this place!
I ordered an Earl grey Blueberry Heart cake on Tuesday at MceWan store location for a birthday. I saw the staff wrote down my name and phone number on a piece of paper along with other people’s orders. She also confirmed with me that I wanted the big $40 heart shape cake for pick up on Friday at 6pm. Because of other people’s review about Delysees messed up their birthday cake order before, I came to check on my order on Thursday night. The staff said my order has not come yet but would be here on Friday. Today, I was just at the Mcewan picking up my cake, they did not have my order. There were two other Earl grey blueberry heart cakes in the fridge. But I know they were in the fridge on Tuesday, Thursday and still there on Friday. I told the staff that I would not accept a stale cake, and the staff told me back that I could get a different cake from the fridge which arrived a day ago at 10% discount, or I can go without a cake. Regardless whose fault it was, MceWan store or Delysees bakery, this was a terrible experience. This is not a place that I would recommend.
I bought two Delysses desserts from Mcewans at one Bloor street and one tasted really old and one was mouldy inside in the middle and I had already eaten it. Disgusting!
Used to really like delysee but they messed up my online bday cake order, which I even called the store and confirmed. The colour, flavour, writing of the cake were all wrong, as staff claimed they did not receive the order and gave me a random cake in the fridge which looked at least three days old. No explanation was given. Terrible experience.
I specially went to this place to buy macrons and to my utter surprise they turned out to be stale. Not only the macrons even the salted caramel brownie turned out to be stale. I usually buy Macarons from St. Lawrence Market and they are always fresh and super delicious. I am never going back to this place ever again. Guys watch out before you decide to shell out extra money for the overly priced macrons.
Although a little bit pricey, everything you buy here is worth it.
I bought their popular eclairs and I must say that they're as good as the eclairs we tried in Paris.
My favourite is the Dark Chocolate eclair. Airy pastry shells, rich dark chocolate pastry filling and thick chocolate glaze, one bite and you're in heaven. Also bought their mini cakes.beautifully presented and pretty to look at you don't even want to eat it!
I will surely come back here to try their macarons as we're still on the hunt for the best macarons in Toronto.
TL;DR: this place is amazing and as a French pastries addict - I 100% recommend!
Let me start off with professing my love for the french pastries and hopefully without sounding cocky, I go to France at least once a year. That's my pilgrimage and that includes the highlights of my research and experiments for delicious, warm, fresh (outta the oven fresh) French pastries.
At d'Elysees, I can most definitely vouch for how close they are to the ones in France! Perfect level of flakiness that smothers your lips as you take your first bite. My favourites here would be the Pistachio (which is unique and I haven't really come across this anywhere) and regular butter croissants. Although the almond croissant is also as good! Ce sont magnifiques!
I've also tried one of their fancy looking cakes - can't recall what it's called but it's one with lychee and earl grey flavour. Not only it looks too good to touch but also tastes as good as it looks!
Obviously, ambience wise, this place is nothing short of amazing. So instagrammable for all y'all instagram addicts. They also even have a cute little patio outside which is just perfect with how quiet king street is these days!
Thank you D'Elysees for always being there through all of my need-croissants-asap days
An abundance of beautiful looking pastries makes it very hard to decide which one you want! I chose the dark chocolate eclair which was yummy but on the rich and heavy side (not unsurprising qualities though). My boyfriend had the pain au raisin which he devoured before I could even get a look in, and he said it was absolutely delicious! We didn’t stay long and haven’t tried the coffee but it’s very quiet in there (we visited mid afternoon) so could be good for working but not for open conversation.
A very understated space because maybe of the location but every time I go I enjoy it. I’ve only had the coffee and croissants but they are both great! The space doesn’t feel French to me but the croissants are delicious. The staff is super friendly and helpful as well. Very important to have patient staff when there’s so many yummy selections to choose from!
Made a stop since we used to drive by all the time. It’s pretty spacious and clean. The counter displays beautifully decorated and created sweets. We had an eclair for $4.50 and it looked very pretty. Taste wise, it was good but not amazing. 3 stars given as other upcoming bakeries and cafes have much better and eye catching decor.
The atmosphere of the place was quite nice. The cakes looked delicious and my selection (a vanilla and Jasmine mousse cake with a cookie base) was both adorable and tasty.
This is a nice french pastry cafe. The treats are pricey but also very good. It is a small space but it accommodates a lunch time crowd. Mainly caters to a take out crowd. Coffee is also served. The various types of eclairs and tarts are what I have ordered. They have croissants and sandwiches in the display window as well.
Cute and simple shop where everything is slick and clean looking. There are a few seating areas and if you choose to sit to eat, they serve it on a plate instead of bag. They have a very unique ferrero rocher like cake (mini or large) that i've never seen in any shop. Pricing is higher but for uniqueness and good quality. They have very unique macron flavours and colours; 6 macarons for $15 or you can buy inidiv or in larger amounts. Their croissant is very flaky and delicious with good filling (on my gruyere croissant)
Always come here to order macarons. They are the freshest and most delicious around. The packaging is beautiful so a great gift. I always bring macarons from here to a dinner party.
Great pastries and coffee at a reasonable price point! Laid back environment and big open space to sit and relax for a few minutes or a couple of hours. Lots of pastries to choose from and a great selection each time I've visited. Staff is very friendly and helpful and do a great job keeping the store clean and inviting. One of my favourite pastry and coffee shops in downtown Toronto.
We used Delysees for our Christmas client gift campaign. Fred and his team executed perfectly despite a number of changing variables on our end. Everyone was happy and we got a bunch of compliments. Thanks Delysees!
