Demetres Richmond Hill

If you wanna die easily go to Demetres. You have no idea by the amount of the excessive sugar in everything here. I ordered a waffle with ice cream at the top. After eating the first spoon, I told my wife that this is weirdly sweet and I really don’t want to eat it. But she said at least take half. Don’t get me wrong I am not diabetes! After taking half, I literally felt dizziness. The morning after I had feeling of an over hang person.
It is not healthy and I am not recommending this place at all.

This place is too old and dirty. All chairs are torn and broken.really disappointing and disgusting. You guys definitely need to renovate and remodel this place

Giant portions. Service is sort of OK. But not attentive. Hard to get staff's attention.

Crepes and waffles are made fresh where cold ice cream and warm crepes goes so well together and i love the presentation and taste! The only down side is that there is 18% service fee for our group of 6ppl. Even when we ordered 5 items off the menu for our group. It is on a expensive side for service charge. Overall, the bill was close to $100

Amazing and freshly made delicious desserts everytime I go. Interior is a little drab, needs some reno work.

Nice place for a date or even for a family to go together, however my biggest issue is that there are almost no dairy free options available! It would be more inclusive to have some dairy alternative options available.

Everything was perfect.
The quality of the meal was as expected and the attitude of the staff was very good.
If someone asks me for a good place to eat ice cream, I will definitely suggest Demetres.

Evening desserts are fun! My friends and I visited Demetres together and we each enjoyed giving into our sweet tooth. Waffles loaded with fruits, chocolate sauce, and ice cream, chocolate cake with chocolate sauce and ice cream on the side.and oh so many other alluring options on the menu!

The ambiance was nice but very busy.if possible, make a reservation or arrive early to make sure you get a table!

Ordered pineapple sorbet and tasted like mixed sugar and lemon juice, it was terrible and surprisingly expensive! Charged me 15 dollars for each scoop plus $5 tip for take out! Will never go to this place again!

It was okay. I had a cup of decaf coffee ($6? !) and it seriously tasted like they used the least amount of beans to brew it. It totally lacked flavour. It was very disappointing, especially considering the exorbitant cost. I shared the cheesecake with apples. It was very tasty.

The service was good and there were ample health and safety measures in place for covid. I enjoyed the cakes I got (say cheese, and cocoa-ono) as well as the milkshakes. I'd recommend a single cake for two people to share

Amazing food, if you like dessert/sweet stuff this place is a must try. Servers are very nice as well, great experience overall.

Great place! Delicious desserts. Although they have made the prices a bit probably due to COVID but it's still a good dessert place. I also noticed that they changed their menu like they added/changed flavours is also great

Kind of a hidden location. Building is on the older side, but the atmosphere is nice, and the servers were very polite.

It was busy when we arrived but we were a party of 6 and seated within 15 minutes. All staff were working tirelessly, efficiently and provided amazing customer service. The food was excellent as well!

How can people run business with such awful customer service? Sitting 15 minutes nobody come to get order and when I said I'm leaving no one cared, no apologies.

Went as soon as they opened around 3: 30PM and the location was understaffed. There was just one server and she was also making the orders. We had to wait 25 minutes for our two waffle order. There was another guy in the back but he was just stocking the kitchen. As we walked out, 3 other customers walked in and we thought Good luck to them!

Me and my friend went to eat their food the other day. The ambience was nice and the dining area looked clean. Our desserts took 5 mins to arrive to us since we had ordered and tasted good. The highlight of the experience was our server Johanna (so sorry if i misspelled your name!) She was super duper kind and very helpful. I have a peanut allergy so she took safety precautions for me because of it and had in general made the experience worth repeating. If you go there, make sure you get taken care of by her!

Our ice cream sat on the table untouched for at least an hour (nobody liked it because of the artificial taste). It didn’t melt at all. The nearby table had 2 kids who didn’t finish their ice cream either, left a huge chuck of it and left. When even kids don’t want to eat your ice cream you should know it’s not good. The coffee was quite good so it saved the day.

I can understand that some bad luck could happen in food business like finding hair in your food. Unfortunately this happened to me in this location. They were very apologetic about it and offered replacement or refund, which is so professional, but after all it was not a good experience.

This place is amazing, excellent for family and friends time, the food is very good and the customer service is good, highly recommended

I absolutely loved the experience here as well as the customer service. The new manager was our server and she was very nice, kind and patient. The desserts were really good! As well as the ice cream. I would definitely recommend coming here with your families and friends it is definitely a place i would revisit again!

This demetres location is one of the best! The food here is delicious and fresh. They have a great variety of deserts whatever you can think of and great options to customize it to your liking. One of the things that really stood out was the customer service here, our server Johanna was honestly the nicest server I’ve ever had she was very kind to us and helped us out with whatever we needed. If you ever go to this location and get Johanna as your server she will make your experience there much better and make you feel welcomed.

Amazing place. Always lovely staff and best food in town! A must if you’re in the area and would like a great experience!

Worst ice cream experience in my life. They need to come with a siple idea how to pack ice cream cone so it doesbt tip over.pretty simple task but they failed.spend $30 in icecream and less than 5 min it all ended up on the asphalt

Went there during Covid. Only people there. The banana split was out of this world. Definately plan to come back once the lockdown is over.

Amazing! Big portions, beautiful decor, the servers are so polite, and the desserts are to die for. Definitely plan on coming back soon!

“CAFE DEMETRE”

Well DEMETRE is always been my favorite joint for desserts and the reason behind it is the very famous COCO UNO.
Although there are many other desserts which are very good but this is above all.
Recently I have started trying their GREEN TEA, well I think they are bit costly but yes the size and taste is too good and love it.

I'll keep this to the point. If you like ice cream, waffles and crepes then this is the place to go.

When you need an ice cream fix.portions are huge.on the pricey side.would prefer smaller size options for less money, but we share so that helps. Quality of ice cream is on the premium level. If the menu item sounds sweet, it really is, so be prepared and select carefully based on how sweet you want or are ok with. So you will want to wash it down with water or a coffee. But given the price of their coffees, i suggest they make the sizes larger or charge less. That's one area where the size is not large like the menu items. In terms of when to go, my advice, if you don't like to wait or don't like crowds, simply go earlier. In the warmer weather, on weeknights, peak is probably around 8 or 8: 30 so come before that. 7-8pm is probably the "sweet" spot to not wait. Once it gets busy, service is slower because they don't have a lot of servers so you will need to be patient if you need anything. Otherwise, it's great and comfortable for long socializing gatherings before it gets busy and noisy. This is a fave place in the neighbourhood and we come by once or twice a month during the summer.

I love the huge desert and ice cream, this place has these kinds of desert. I think the waffles and ice cream is a two-person-portion. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere and decoration was cool.

This place is my absolute weakness. I leave never wanting to come back (sugar crash) but find myself there over and over again! YUM: D

This location has really cleaned and fixed itself up since the first time I visited. The food is awesome, only issue is that the service sometimes wasn’t the greatest for me but not much to complain about very good establishment.

Delicious food and great menu selection. One thing, though: Service is somewhat slow. Also, with multiple bills I've only had one issue with a mischarge in the 8 or so times I've been there in the past year. All around, a great place to go for dessert and coffee, would definitely recommend

Friendly Staff Since New Management came in to place, me and my best friend always go here if we crave for sugary food.

Came here for dessert, the waiter told to us to sit wherever we liked.the only problem was almost all the empty tables were dirty with plates from the previous customers. Worst of all no one made any efforts to clean the tables, just sat us around it.

They were pretty slow but to be fair it was also very crowded when we got there. Everything was delicious

This is a local dessert restaurant that has been around for years. I finally had a chance to try it. The service was great and the parking is free. The prices are a little on the higher end. The menu had just changed today and it seemed more limited than what I remember from other locations before. The sundae and crepes were good. It was a medium size location and we were lucky to get a large table right away, although it always looks busy from the outside when I'm driving by. Thank you.

Horrible service and wait time. We waited a bit to be seated, which was fine, however once we were at our table, we were practically forgotten. A server comes by and finally takes our order and once again we are waiting endlessly. The server didn't bring out enough glasses of water or cutlery.then finally our desert arrives minus my one guest (he literally only ordered a hot chocolate, not only could he see it sitting out waiting for them at their make station for an hour, multiple servers walked by it, but it was made incorrectly? Who messes up hot chocolate?) The server noticed and apologies and takes it off the bill. Then when we finish, we pay the rest of our bills, the server messes up my bill and makes me pay twice, which I'm fine with but at this point I'm quite irritated. The server is hovering over me as I pay and makes a disgusted face when I did not tip her. I'm not sure what she was expecting with the way we were treated. Either way, I would rather recommend a different location.

Chocolate. Ice cream. Cake. Pie. Milk shake. Fresh fruit. Waffles. Crepes. Cheese cake.need I say more? The food requires no further explanation. A treat for your taste buds and a treat for the eyes. Portions are sizeable. An order of two scoops is REALLY filling, so I would suggest sharing orders larger than that.

I’ve been going for years. The staff has always been friendly, ready to advise and adjust your order. Menu changes frequently, so there’s always something new to try.

The location itself is beautiful. Good place to meet friends casually or for a fun/laidback date.

I would definitely not recommend this location. The servers did not even attempt to seat us. Young servers were giggling and left tables messy. They would just sit in the back and chit chat. We had to approach them to get our orders taken. The fruits were most likely spoiled, I wasted a good $12 on my dessert. Whoever is reading this. Don't go to this location. Read the previous comments. I'm not the only person who had an issue. CHANGE YOUR STAFF! THE KIDS WHO ARE RUNNING IT ARE RUINING YOUR BUSINESS. I WOULDN'T EVEN ACCEPT A REIMBURSEMENT. HORRIBLE!

A gladiator in the dessert game, Demetres has been around for a while and often doesn't disappoint except for the waiting. I've been coming here a while (not this particular location) and things feel a lot less "magical" in terms of dining experience. Great for a family dessert spot but couples out on a date have far more romantic options. I've always felt Demetres wants to be the Serendipity of Toronto but it lacks that special touch. Service is okay. Food is good. You won't be disappointed. But you won't be inspired either.

Ordered a waffle with ice cream and a orea sunday type thing, the waffle was good but the ice cream was honestly terrible, as was whatever chocolate sauce they used for the sunday. I was really excited to eat here because of all the good reviews but was super dissapointed to be honest. Although ive only tried 2 menu items its safe to say anything that has vanilla ice cream here is probably bad.

Usually crowded with many people. The building from the outside looks a bit old and it is slightly old inside to but well maintained. Due to the large amount of people usually present the wait for the food can be a bit long. But the most important, part the icecream is always delightful. If you get the waffle or crepe it can be a lot, so you may need to spare some time when deciding to come here unless you're being friends or family to share with.

I was a bit disappointed. “The Big Apple” I was served a disproportionate amount of apple pie to what is pictured on their site. I received a very small slice I felt cheated looking at the other desserts at my table and after viewing what the portion size should look like.
Also even though I requested my apple pie and ice cream be seperated so as to retain the contrasting temperatures my apple pie was still served room temperature/ cold. Another person at my table also shared my sentiment about the dessert being cold. One of the desserts was sent back because it was the order was incorrect. When the correct order was brought there was too much fruit which made the waffle soggy and cold, frankly it looked like mush. That was also sent back.
In addition the waitress wasn’t very attentive to the table we had to call her several times before she responded although she was not preoccupied.
