Dennis Johnston Ice Bungalows/ Super Bungalows

We rented a four man bungalow from March 3 - 5. I was abit weary of the outfitter after reading some not so good reviews. We got there early in the morning the first day. The operator was quick to explain everything and get on his way. The first day we spent a lot of time in the hut fishing. It was slow! First fish in the hut was a tiny perch. Second and last fish from inside the hut was a out of slot walleye. We drilled probably about 16 holes out front of the hut and that’s when we started hitting fish. Total fish count was 17 landed only two from inside the hut. If you expect to slam fish inside your bungalow and not put in any work outside I can see why you might be disappointed. This ice bungalow stay was the highlight of my winter we had great weather we caught a decent amount of fish probably 60% were on tipups with minnows they supply. And the rest on assorted jigs. At night we were able to stay warm inside eat awesome meals and jigg for fish. Propane lights and gas stove make is so you really don’t need a generator to enjoy your stay we only used ours too charge phones. In conclusion I think ice bungalows did a great job and I wouldn’t take any of there bad reviews to heart. I will and would recommend these guys to anyone looking to have a fun weekend drinking and fishing and enjoying the experience of a ice bungalow you drive right too. We went up on our yearly trip in January with this team and as always they were great, the fishing was great the bungalows as always were the best and what can you say about the service other then amazing. When you hear people complain about the fishing well that's why it's called fishing and not catching and you are not staying at the Rirtz (well its the rirtz on the ice for sure) you are in a bungalow on the lake. Thanks Diesel Dan and Redneck Rick for another awesome weekend we look forward to seeing you next season

Huts were great
Too bad they put to much effort into the huts and not the fishing
Asked to move but they weren’t accommodating
Won’t be wasting my money or ever going there again
Would’ve rated it a minus but it isn’t an option

Made reservations showed up and called the number as directed no answer waited ovr hr calling multiple times and nothing called chilly and more then willing to accommodate

Bungalows are nice great for drinking and watching tv couldn’t even get get a bite from a fish so bring something to entertain yourself because you won’t be able to fish

We've been going here for years, awesome service, great clean huts. This week we rented it to work out of and it was excellent with a generator and a good working stove. I'd recommend this outfitter all day long.

It was such an amazing experience. We loved it. The accommodations were awesome. The staff was great. This was the first time I slept in an ice hut and it won't be my last. My friends and I will make it a yearly fishing trip. We didn't get too many fish but we had enough for a nice walleye fish fry. I highly recommend Ice Bungalows for a fun retreat. Thank you

Took family and some friends who have never seen snow before out ice fishing this week. We have a ton of stories and memories to share about this trip. However, want to give a HUGE shout out to Ben and Wade. Ice Bungalows is the place to go! The experience was far beyond any of our expectations. We caught one fish, and had many bites. We are not experienced at all in this sport! Ben and Wade, made sure we were taken care of and had what we needed. They truly went above and beyond the call of duty. Our family will always be thankful for who they are as human beings. If you get the opportunity to meet them consider yourself blessed. Ice Bungalows is a stellar operation! Thanks again guys for everything!

Me and the boys just spent 3 days on the ice, the guys looking after use where the best great fun to be there got lots of fish for the fish dinner

Dennis, Diesel Dan and the whole team at Ice Bungalows are top notch they check on you many times during the day and before they leave the ice for the day. The bungalows are clean and comfortable. Myself and my friends will never book with anyone else. If you want a GREAT time on the ice book with this team. Thanks for another great weekend see you next season.

First time ice fishing with a group that has used ice bungalows for 10 years. Staff and huts were great, won’t go anywhere else.

Had an awesome time on the ice over the weekend. The staff at dennis Johnstons were awesome and accommodating in any way they could be. It was a slow weekend for fishing pretty much anywhere on the lake, so we ventured out with navtronics searching for shoals.dennis saw us venturing around and pulled over while blowing out the roadways on the ice and pointed us in the direction of a few good shoals.we will be returning to Dennis's ice bungalows for an annual get together/adventure.

Just came back from a great family ice fishing trip in Nipissing at Ice Bungalows. The ice huts were clean and well maintained. Staff help us get setup. They were pleasant and quite witty with their jokes. Caught our limit of fish for an excellent supper. See you next year

My cousin recommended Ice Bungalows in Nipissing as he has gone a few times. We enjoy ourselves, had a great weekend. Staff was friendly and helpful, couldn't ask for a better couple of guys. Highly recommend this Outfitters

Our first time going to Ice Bungalows. We got one of their huge super bungalows. Tons of space and the satellite TV is great.they even got us the UFC fight on ppv. They were around all day checking to see if we needed anything and even gave us a number to call or text if we needed anything.

Had a great time at Ice Bungalows this weekend. Watching the guys in the other hut have a drinking relay race was hilarious

It was a bit wet around the huts due to the weather but otherwise we had a great time. Highly recommend these guys. We caught tons of fish and even though we put them back, we caught quite a few keepers.

Been going for 6 years now. We went in a car this time and wanted to try different spots on the lake so Ben and Wade drove us to a couple different spots and even drilled us new holes each time. Couldn't ask for better service

My husband and I have tried several different outfitters and last year we tried Ice Bungalows. I can't see any reason why we'd ever go anywhere else now. The service was above and beyond what we've experienced elsewhere. We even saw the guys looking after us on the ice go out of their way to pull out a local who got stuck going to his own hut. We're going up again next weekend and we can't wait.

January 2020 was my 4th year staying with Dennis Johnston Ice Bungalows. I highly recommend them! I'll be back next year, and the years after that. Dennis and his team are professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. The service was excellent, they checked in with us regularly throughout the day to see if we needed anything. My 1st year group of 4 has grown over the past few years to 10 people (2 bungalows). We caught alot of fish (mainly walleye) this year! If you're looking for a great experience and great fishing, call Dennis! You won't be disappointed!

Another great trip. We're not sure if this was year 21 or 22 in a row but either way we're hoping we'll make 40+ at Ice Bungalows lol

CAN'T SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THESE GUYS. THEY ALWAYS MADE SURE WE HAD WHATEVER WE NEEDED. CAUGHT LOTS OF FISH. THEY EVEN MOVED THE BUNGALOWS JUST BEFORE WE GOT THERE SO WE WERE ON THE FISH.

Upgraded to a super bungalow this year. The extra space was well worth the extra money and the satellite TV was a bonus. Caught a record number of walleye this year. I think we're going to go bad in February because once wasn't enough

Best time of my life. Been fishing for years. These guys no how to put a smile on your face. 10/10 recommend!

To those complaining about ICE FISHING. This isnt a beach resort. I go here to FISH, sleep, clean and eat fish. It beats the heck out of setting up your own tent, dragging propane out, all the rest of the gear in a cramped little fishing tent from a box store. You come here to create memories, which has been done. Ice fishing isnt "always catch 20 a day" kind of deal. Thats why fishing is exciting! When they do bite, its a great time. Many others would agree, get the guys out, sit around get drunk and talk story, like how neighbors pull fish out of the lake that arent within size limits lol. Anyways, great place to get away enjoy some fishing, meet new people, have some drinks and enjoy some peace!

If you want an ice fishing experience right out of Deliverance.this is it.
In my opinion theae guys are only out for one thing.your money.
You registered at an old shed where the guy running the place never introduced himself just told us to put the money on the work bench and after we did just jammed it in his pocket with no receipt.
We were given sketchy directions to the bungalows and had to travel on an ice road that was not well maintained.
When we got to the huts were told where ours was and werent taken there and shown how anything operated.
The bungalow was a mess, oven and stove didnt work properly.never did get oven to work.heaters thermostat didnt work, holes were dirty with old food deposits in them and half frozen back in.
We ran out of propane in the middle of the night.
There werent enough dishes for 2 guys let alone our 5 in a 6 man bungalow, no cutlery, no coffee cups and no frying pans or pots.
The guy out on the ice was arrogant and rude when we told him about the lack of dishes and running out of propane.
We caught very few fish none of which we could keep. In fact no one around us was catching much and all and it was quite obvious these huts were nowhere near where the fish were. Other co workers were at a didderet outfitters on different part of lake and caught 38 pickerel to our 5.
The sunday that we left we had had snow and freezing rain we waited till 830 to see if they would come break a trail for us to get off the ice but didnt show. We broke our own trail and finally these fly by nighters ran into us about 500 yards from shore
When i say ran into i mean that literally.
Cousin Jeb driving a jacked up 4x4 hauling a trailer.wouldnt move over after i had moved over as far as i could with out getting stuck and smoked my truck with his trailer. Now remember these guys are supposed to be keeping the roadway clear for clients.
We went back to the "office" and i use that term loosely.where the guy running rhe place whos name i still dont know only responce to the whole incident with my truck was.
Its a big lake not my problem.
As far as im concerned this is the worse outfitter i have ever delt and shouldnt even be considered if you want an good fishing experience

It is quite evident that these probably were nice bungalows 25 years ago but it is also apparent that there is no money being put back into them and they have no interest in customer satisfaction or safety.

Wasn't happy with the condition of the stove. It look like it came from a dump site. The oven was unbearably nasty. When I ask to switch to a cleaner hut that was available, I was given a pot scrubber sponge to clean ours. 3 of us rent a 6 person hut and paid $1017.00

Was there this past weekend for the 3rd time in 2 years and I have to say it has gone down hill. The Huts were dirty the holes were dirty food left in the stove from the last group. The first time I have ever had to shore up the outside of the ice hut, Not impressed

Look elsewhere for your lake nipissing ice fishing experience. They have no proper set up for greeting clients, you have to seek somebody out in an old sided shed and get a greeting as if you werent even expected. You have to find your own way out onto lake with very poorly marked snow road. Ran out of propane within 5 hours of being in hut so had to call for propane to have heat. Huts were set up nowhere near fish. Gave up fishong halfway through the weekend. Many others around us even left on the Saturday night and we could here them complaining about how ridiculous the fishing was. We had 5 in our bungalow and caught 2 walleye total, one was a baby. The guys on the ice taking care of the huts were sarcastic and didnt seem to understand about customer service and how much people are paying for their bungalows. This review is based on an honest opinion. The money spent is not the issue. The issue is the fishing value for your money.
I am an avid fisherman and have good knowledge of catching fish. These bungalows are placed on the lake nowhere near the fish.
