The cake I ordered turned out very beautiful. I ordered and paid online however when I went in to pick it up I was required to pay more. I was slightly bothered because I wasn't aware of the extra fee in advance. I was quite disappointed that they did not have edible glitter. The cake did taste very good.

I ordered a birthday cake for my daughter and it was absolutely gorgeous. I showed them a sample picture of what I wanted and they made it exactly the same - every detail was precise. Everyone at our party was amazed how beautiful the cake was - it was delicious too. I was extremely pleased and highly recommend you order from Dessert First. It is a lovely shop as well - great place to relax and have a coffee. We also purchased their egg nog and it was out of this world!

Dessert first has got to have the best breakfast sandwhich in the city hands down. Also the cookies are amazing, crispy edges, soft and doughy middles… highly highly recommend!

Wow! The most beautiful and yummy custom cake for my kids! Emailed my request, got a quick response with options/pictures for my two custom cakes, picked it up and was wowed! The kids loved it so much, thank you! Also, for parents-GET THE SPRINKLES INSIDE! My kids lost it and so did the guests!

I ordered two fried egg sandwiches through a delivery app and the eggs were way too runny. There was no option to specify that we wanted them at least medium fried. I don’t think you should ever assume that overly runny eggs are the standard.

This place has unbelievably good food and drinks. The cookies are so fresh and melt in your mouth. The mini egg cookie was amazing. The sourdough is always a good choice. The prepared food is mouth-watering and something I crave on the weekends. The smaller menu means all of the food is great because they specialize in them. You must try the breakfast sandwiches. One of my favourites is the Ham and Cheese Croissant. I can only imagine the other creations the owner will come up with next. Might try out the custom orders for the next event. Not to mention their ice cream. Check them out!

I live in Montreal and wanted to purchase a cake for my friend in Ottawa. It was so easy to reach out to them in instagram about my questions and to order online through their website. The cake was a bit smaller then I expected but for the value and we had other desserts, it was perfect! Not too sweet!

Also tried their passionfruit and raspberry cream puffs and they were great too! Thank you!

First time at dessert first and it is absolutely fantastic their breakfast sandwiches unbelievable you absolutely must try it.

This place has been on my list and has come highly recommended by so many and it did not disappoint. We got a custom cake for a birthday party and it was absolutely amazing. The guests that came immediately asked for the contact, that’s when you know it’s good. Flavour was spot on and the icing was not overly sweet.

Service was top notch. The communication back and forth to ensure I was getting exactly what I wanted. I HIGHLY recommend this place. You will not be disappointed

Ordered a custom cake for my daughter’s birthday, looks pretty but tastes casual I mean not worth the money spent.

Julia makes some of the best cakes and fresh bread that I've ever had. Started as a treat at our office, and it's now becoming a staple. Just celebrated a coworker's birthday with one of her amazing cakes this week!

I don't like trekking into town except when absolutely necessary but when I do, this place is a must! Haven't tried anything that isn't worth getting doubles or triples for the next few days to reward myself for the trip and to satisfy my sweet tooth enough for the next trip into town.

Dessert First is an excellent boutique bakery with the most delicious cakes and breads I have encountered. The owner Julia is a very kind person who goes above and beyond to ensure her customers enjoy her treats in a way that is suitable to them. Given the difficulties of owning a business during this pandemic, I am impressed with the quality of their baked goods and service. Best boutique bakery in town!

The most gorgeous cakes with the wow factor you're looking for. Julia is lovely and helps you customize your cake for your special occasion. Even the standard vanilla buttercream is an absolute delight.

It’s hit and miss. Sometimes you’ll get the best breakfast sammie other times you'll get something that’s worse than timmies across the road.

When it’s bad, the cheese is charcoaled and the sausage is dry as sand. When it’s good, it’ll blow your mind away.

I think the issue is in who is cooking it. When it’s the owner - it’s great. When it’s not the owner - you’ll get a 2 or 3 out of 5 quality. The same goes for service.

It’s a love and hate relationship because you never know what you gonna get. I hope this place can improve their consistency.

Julia has been making some of the most beautiful and delicious cakes for my family over the years. Recently my sister-in-law was getting married and needed a wedding cake. We knew Julia would do an amazing job and she did not disappoint. It was exactly what the bride had asked for and tasted amazing. All of the guests were asking where the cake was from. She also makes a mean breakfast sandwich if cakes are not your thing.

I really really wanted to like this place! I had noticed it during a few of my trips here and now that I moved, I decided there was no reason not to go. I was surprised that the staff was kinda cold and the brownie was not good and a really overbearing taste that I couldn’t figure out… especially after reading the reviews. Maybe it was just my particular experience, maybe I’ll try them again one day but i don’t know

I ordered a custom cake and it did not disappoint. Design-wise it was exactly what I dreamed of and I'm obsessed. Taste-wise it was incredible: it wasn't too sweet and it was super moist! 10/10 would recommend!

A friend brought the sprinkle cake for dessert recently and I am now obsessed. I don't even prefer cake, but I dreamt about it for days afterwards. The buttercream is so delicious! I have also had their nanaimo bar and it was hands down the best I've ever had. I've yet to step foot in the place, and honestly I'm fearful because I know I'll walk out of there with way too much dessert.
