DFC Markham - Dentistry for Children

My son was four when our previous dentist ‘fired him’ because he was nervous and high maintenance. Dentistry for Kids took him on and from day one their care, manner and skill made my son at ease. Now he is almost grown and switching to a new adult dentist. We will always be grateful to the entire Team for their talent and care. Highly recommend them.

It was a great experience for my son. I like the customer service at the reception. I will definitely recommend this dentistry to my family and friends.

Happy with how the dentist and hygienist took care of my daughter for a cleaning and check up.

Just want to make sure people are aware that they are pediatric dentists and charge more than regular dentists. So expect to pay a lot more than your usual out of pocket even if covered by insurance. I paid $80 out of pocket (80% insurance coverage but they charge more than max) for about 5-7 minutes of check up, polish, scaling and fluoride.

Dr. Bhalla is the best children’s dentist. We were recommended by our friends to him and have been going to Dentistry For Children since our daughter was 8, she is now 15. He provides honest advice on what your child needs for his/her teeth. Every time we see him he is always in great spirits and happy to see you. He makes your child’s appointment fun and relaxing which says a lot because many kids are so nervous going to the dentist. Our daughter felt comfortable right away as the receptionists, hygienists and Dr. Bhalla are all so welcoming. The environment is the best! I wish as an adult I could go there!

Absolutely horrible experience at the clinic. My child was discharged with little instructions and actively vomiting. Please avoid this clinic!

This was my babys first visit. The clinic is very nice and pleasant. The doctor was very patient and humble and answered all my queries very patiently. My baby was also very comfortable with the doctor. The staff was friendly and supportive.

My 5yr old went today with his favourite dvd movie. The staff spoke to him at his level, and were so cheery and friendly to him. He got to go on a spaceship ride to the moon (lift chair) right before taking his very first xrays, his happy squeals were wonderful to hear from outside the room. He was so happy to comply and he got 2 toys as a reward! The staff spoke to me using easy to understand terms so I knew exactly what was wrong with his teeth, and what our options were. He is not happy about taking yucky medicine 3x a day for a week, but he's very happy that the pain will be gone soon.

My son has been going there for many years. They provide great service and never had any issues.

We have an amazing service from the beginning and end. Dr. Bhalla knew how to deal with my daughter who has ASD. We got in and out with no crying. We will be coming back again. As parent, it's very stressful taking your kids to dentist however DFC Dentistry for Children knew what to do. Thank you. We are happy parents!

This is my 2-year-old baby girl's first dental experience. She loves it! Everyone is friendly and patient. My daughter got a little mermaid toy as a prize and she keeps telling me how she got it.

My kids have been going to DFC Markam for years. They really cater to children by explaining the dental procedure that the kids can understand if they have questions. At the end of the cleaning, kids get toys to take home. On the last check up, my kids did not have cavities. As a reward, they got a certificate and free movie tickets for keeping their teeth healthy. It’s a great way to encourage the children to take care of their teeth. We dealt with Michele and she was very nice and helpful. Recently my son had a procedure with Dr. Bhalla who was very reassuring and answered all our questions. Over all my kid had a good experience.

I was referred to FC Markham by a friend. I took my 3 year old for her first dentist visit today and she absolutely loved the experience. We got to choose a movie to play on the tv while she got teeth checked out. All the staff were super friendly. My little one can’t wait for her next visit in 6 months! I have been coming to this DFC since my son was 7, he is now 20 years old. Dr. Applebum and his Staff are amazing! They’ve always treated my children so well.

I had an emergency with my youngest recently, and without hesitation, they squeezed me in for an appointment the same day.

The receptionist was so rude, Twice she was an AH.my Baby's cavity was hurting needed to be checked by Doc ASAP. Apologized for being late 4 mins late the rude receptionist didnt take us in.i dont even know the doctors are fully aware what's going on in that office.wish I read these negative comments first. Heard good reviews about doctors so I booked an appointment. Never again learnt my mistake.one of receptionist is very miserable got zero people skills. I was very disappointed.

The staff and hygienists, in particular, are friendly and knowledgeable, they put kids at ease and are set up with TVs to make the kids have an easy and enjoyable experience during their appointments. The clinic is also working efficiently and implementing every measure to ensure the health and safety of its patients and staff during this pandemic. I would highly recommend them!

The staff and the dentists at DFC Markham are fantastic! Very friendly, understanding. Could not possibly find a better place for my childrens teeth needs.and the small gift afterwards is a bonus!

It's very good place for children and the doctor is very nice. Only what I want to say it's very expensive. If you don't have insurance, never go to there. Every time my daughter spent about around $300. We will still visit just because of doctor.

Very friendly staff and doctors. They made my child feel very comfortable and made visit fun. They have a great DVD choices for kids to watch while they are being checked (tv is attached on the ceiling). They have great receptionist that go above and beyond for their patients. Highly recommend dentistry for children both the Markham and Newmarket location are awesome.

I truly appreciate to this dental office. People were really nice and very kind. So professional. My super shy daughter was totally relaxed at clean and cute office. She watched movie during treatment. Dr. Appleburm has a lot of experience. Definitely recommend.

They are amazing with my autistic son! We have been going there for years! Dr Applebaum and his assistant have been working with my son since the beginning and with all his sensory needs they have been able to accommodate him and got him to a point he can sit through a cleaning wonderfully. Would recommend them 100%.

I really like the place, the nurse and the Dr were friendly. My three years old daughter loved the place and was so cooperative with the Dr and didn’t have fear at all. The Dr were so careful and take care of her really good so she won’t feel any pain. I recommend going there.

But I just HAD to come on here and review the receptionist, Kim! She is just amazing! She talked to me for so long! Making sure I knew what was going to happen. She booked enough time for my daughter to get checked and cleaned, but assured me that since it's her first visit, if she's anxious, they won't do the cleaning and they'll save it for next time. She talked me through the whole experience, even telling me her own experience with her grandchildren coming in for check ups and how she preps them. She was just the most genuinely sweet person to talk to when booking an appointment like this! As parents, we are already anxious about how our children will react for their first dental visit, so to hear someone so caring and kind on the other end of the phone, assured me of the kindness that I'll see in the other staff as well. She made me so excited for my daughter's first visit now.

This was our first time at DFC. I took my two year old and 5 year old. Our experience there was amazing. The dr and hygienist and receptionist were very welcoming. Thank you and looking forward to our future visits.

Brought my kids here originally because my oldest had a cavity and a fear of needles. Dr. Balla made him so comfortable he didn't even know he received the needle. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else.

My son loves going to the dentist here! Kim is always amazing, helpful and friendly, as well as all the other reception staff and the hygienists and dentists.

Nishan always has the best experience at DFC for Children. A few years ago he will not even sit in the dentist’s chair and not with ease he breezes through his appointments. The entire staff from the dentists to the hygienists and admin staff is fantastic. Dr Bhalla and Megna his hygienist are the absolute BEST. The office is super clean and organized. They put through the insurance claims making the process hassle free. We are blessed to have our son be a patient of this clinic. Family Sarawan!

Beware! Receptionist is rude and disrespectful! I have problem with speaking English and this Receptionist laugh at how I speak to her.

Beware if you claim Healthy smiles the Manager takes forever to process your claim because you already pay upfront with your $$$$$ credit card.

I feel the Manager descriminate me because I am just low income family and not like the other patient with lots of $$$$$.

Other than that:
My daughter with autism is happy with the service of dental assistant and the dentist.

The dental assistant is super friendly and she did well in cleaning my daughter's teeth. The dentist is knowledgeable and explain well what is best treatment for my daughter.

My daughter had a fantastic experience at DFC. The staff were extremely professional and followed strict Covid protocols. Dr. Chen was absolutely amazing. She spoke Japanese as well as a native speaker, so my daughter and I were able to communicate with her perfectly. Thank you so much to everything!

My kids always get a great experience here. The staff is very friendly. The dentists and dental hygenists are great and always explain to me in detail with the xrays on whats going on with my kids teeth.

We've been going to DFC dentistry for years, my son loves to go see his dentist Dr. Bala, Dr Bala is very professional, nice and patience with kids. He knows how to make the kids to feel comfortable and relax during the treatment.

I've been taking my daughter to see Dr Yili Wang for a while now - at least three years. First at Holland Bloorview and currently at DFC Markham. My daughter, Francine, is very disabled and doesn't really understand what is happening. Dr Yili Wang always treats Francine with kindness, understanding, patience and respect. I have been VERY pleased with the care and professionalism of Dr. Wang. I am always happy to recommend her to others and I'm confident they will also appreciate the care she gives to their child. I have also always found the staff at DFC Markham to be friendly, helpful and professional.

Worked really well with my daughter who has oral sensitivity, and as was able to check and clean her teeth efficiently.

We have a great first time experience with our little one here at DFC markham dentist. All the staff were extremely friendly. They helped us thoroughly to get all our insurance papers sorted out so that we can get reimbursed for our dental fees afterwards. My little one had a great time with minimal crying. The appointment was short and sweet. The clinic has a very friendly children atmosphere. My little one had a great experience along with my husband who was able to hold onto my little one throughout the entire dental exam. Dr. Applebaum was super nice, efficient dental work and thoroughly explained to us how to take care of my little ones teeth. Overall a fantastic experience and already booked again for a second visit. Will recommend to all my friends and family with little ones!

My daughter needed extensive dental work, and I was referred to DFC by a friend. Because it was such an expensive process, I was hesitant to start. But I first got in touch with Kim from their front desk team and she was amazing from the start. Made me feel comfortable, answered any question without judgement. Gave me the confidence to go in and get an assessment done (you have to pay for that). After the assessment, Kim was great in helping us understand the quote and assess our options. She truly cares about you and treats you like a friend; not a paying customer (rare). We ended up with Dr. Bhalla to do the dental work (1 baby root canal/pulpotomy, 6 fillings, 1 extraction/spacer). Dr. Bhalla's dental work was top notch and he really knows how to create a relationship with the kids and put them at ease. He, like Kim, answered any and all questions that I had, and, also, didn't suggestive any excessive work that wasn't necessary (compared to the other dentists that we had seen). I completely trust both Kim and Dr. Balla, which is hard to find! My daughter is 5 yrs old and did all this work with only local anesthesia without laughing gas, and each appointment got progressively better (no crying or fussing!) While it is more expensive than a regular dentist, I highly recommend Kim and Dr. Bhalla @ DFC to do any work for kids. It's totally worth it.

Dr. Lin, Dr. Chen and all the staff here are absolutely top notch. I travel from Mississauga to Markham on the regular just so my two boys can have the best care here - well worth the mileage and time. They time the appointments perfectly, have always been on time (mostly ahead of time even) and get us in and out there in an efficient manner. DEF RECOMMEND!

Great environment and everyone is very friendly. The doctor is very professional but also can connect with kids well and make it a very stress free experience.

Great experience for children who are visiting the dentist for the first time. All staff are patient, kid friendly and informative during treatments. Their covid protocols are quite strict and my family and I feel safe every visit knowing they are taking the precautions to carefully!
