Discount Drain

Unfortunately, in my experience, the only thing discounted about them is the workers' intelligence. Had the boss out to check my elderly mother's basement floor drain after she had some basement flooding due to foundation damage, and he said it just needed a bit of snaking out. Tried with my snake and couldn't make any progress, so had them send a team out to clear it.they said it wasn't really blocked, and didn't charge her anything.
Then, a few days later, the floor drain is backing up again, while the dehumidifier is draining into it, so I get them to come back and now they say part of the pipe in the floor has collapsed and needs to be replaced. Somehow in the space of those days what was okay is now not? Anyway, I ask them to make sure the dehumidifier is off so as not to flood anymore, and they leave. I get a call from my mother at 9 pm saying the water is backing up on the floor again, apparently because the guys left the dehumidifier running, so I have to go shut it off.
I get them to come and tear up the basement floor and replace the pipe and drain opening, and pay them with an etransfer. I get a call from my mother late the next day saying she just found out that they left one of her basement windows open, and anyone could have gotten in overnight and robbed her or worse.
When I go to close the window, I discover that the workers cemented the new floor drain cover in place, so I can't get in there and vacuum it out occasionally like the boss suggested.
And I discover that the work they charged her $2000 for was less in scope and complexity than what I recently had done in my basement for $700.
I point this out to the boss the next day and he tells me 'we have a minimum charge'. Which if course was NEVER MENTIONED BEFOREHAND! And after telling me that, he has the nerve to tell me I can just chip out the cement around the drain cover myself? You can imagine I declined that option and told him to get the crew out there and fix it and apologize to her for leaving the window open.
Which they did, but then I discover that while reinstalling the floor drain cover, they built up a mound of cement around the floor drain opening, so that any water coming towards the floor drain now pools up around it until it gets high enough to get over the rise. I had to get someone else to fix that because they are never getting near the house of anyone I know again.

Incredibly greatful to Discount Drain for coming out after hours and spending over 2 hours investigating and solving our drainage issues. The technician was knowledgeable and tenacious in his diagnosis and treatment of the clog, even spending extra time to make sure it was clear and tidied up. Thank you for sticking with us, eventhough the first 2 times with Discount Drain didn't solve the issue, the third time was the charm.

After it was said and done we had paid another plumber thousands of dollars (!) to snake our main sewer line; 2 visits and many hours later, I was left with a pool of sewage on my floor and the same plug in my drain except I was now being told they'd have to dig up my front yard. Craig from Discount Drain arrived like a HERO; his team took probably 15 mins to assess and fully clear my line with full photo documentation and a reasonable plan for future maintenance. Don't be a fool like me - call Craig the first time. Thank you Discount Drain!

I contacted Discount Drain regarding a recurring problem with tree roots on our front lawn that caused the sewer to back up into our basement shower. They showed up promptly and cleaned the line as much as possible and showed me with their camera exactly where the problem was. They gave me a business card for the Service Manager, Ted Best, who was on vacation that week, and told me he would be back next week and could give me a quote on a sewer liner to permanently resolve the problem.

As it was Friday, I emailed Mr. Best, hoping he would respond early the next week. He responded later that afternoon, while still on vacation, and said he could be at our home at 9: 00 Monday morning. He showed up, inspected the line with his camera and gave us a verbal quote, followed by a written quote that afternoon, which we approved.

A day or two later, a utility locate company marked out the various services on our front lawn, and on Friday a crew with a small backhoe installed a new cleanout on our driveway to access the sewer line with their liner machine, which was impossible from inside the house. They were extremely quick and left the small hole on our driveway well patched with gravel.

On Monday of the following week, another crew came to hydro-jet the line and ensure all roots were completely cleaned away (with camera verification). Two days later, another crew showed up in the pouring rain to install the liner.

After several frustrations with other companies that would not return phone calls or send quotes as promised, we were extremely impressed by the professionalism of Discount Drain. They were prompt, friendly, and clearly took pride in doing an excellent job.

Thanks to Discount Drain for giving us peace of mind that a recurring problem is finally resolved!

They knocked my fence post off with their bobcat. Promised to fix it and never did. Manager came said he will tell the person who did it to come and fix it. Never. Call them and left a message with the reception, no reply. Don't use this company if you care about the safety of your family.

This company provided an urgent complex repair of a 60 year old collapsed sewer line starting in the middle of my basement to our property line.
Once the job was completed you couldn't tell they had been here!
Ted was knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with.
This company has high tech equipment and knows how to use but still maintains an old fashioned customer service style.

I called two services when i basement drain backed up and flooded. The other service arrived first and used their scope to find the blockage. They then said i would pay $1450 and the free scope was no longer free. So i called Ted at Discount Drain up while he was trying to hustle me. Ted said he was fairly confident all i needed was a snake not the expensive pressure wash the first company was trying to hustle me for. When the guy from the first company overheard me talking and realized his scam was over he said NO CHARGE FOR TODAY AND STOMPED OUT OF THE HOUSE. Ted artived an hour later and it was all fixed in about 20 minutes and the charge was only $250. Please do yourself a favour and call Ted first. Save yourself the pain i went through.

Ted Best took the extra time to get the clog completely removed and show me the condition of the rest of the pipes! Very happy with my experience and Ted’s workmanship!

The owner of the company was parked IN a cross-walk, and when asked to move, verbally accosted a mother walking with her two children (one of them a 6 month old infant). He proceeded to harass her and call her names and say that she is a horrible mother simply for asking that he follow the rules of the road (no parking signage was posted everywhere). Regardless of the quality of his service, this is disgusting to see and a complaint will be put through with the BBB as well to launch an investigation. As a driver, and a business owner, you have a responsibility to conduct yourself in a respectful manner. Shame on you. Show some accountability and reach out to offer an apology.

Right from when I made the call, I knew I was speaking to a contractor that cared about his customers and would strive to have a fully satisfied customer. Since Mike (the general manager) knew the urgency of the situation, he himself came out within a matter of hours. He has a great personality! He was careful not to make a mess and not to mark walls when transporting his equipment in and out of the house. He even took it upon himself to replace part of a plumbing stack that I had broken while trying to clear the drain myself with rented equipment that got stuck in the stack!
I have dealt with many contractors. This was by far the best and most pleasant experience!
