Discount moving and storage

We’ve used Tony and his crew for two separate house moves, most recently in September 2023. Both moves were completed very efficiently. Tony offers solid direction and makes sure the crew takes proper care of both the items they are moving and the spaces they work in. The work was done quickly with strong communication throughout the move, which ensured that everything was placed in the right spots, which made unpacking much easier!

The value is excellent, given the speed at which they work.

Tony and his team were absolutely amazing! We had two big moving trailers full of furniture. Tony’s team were quick but very cautious. Best part was that non of my furniture was damaged! I truly recommend DMS what a great moving company. Thank you guys for helping us make this big move so much easier!

What a great group of professional guys! On time, efficient and pleasant for the whole 10 hours with us! This was a very low stress move thanks to Tony and his amazing crew!

Discount Moving and Storage Ottawa completed my move yesterday and I was very impressed with their efficiency and the care they took to protect our furniture as well as the walls and floors of the home during both the move out and in phases. For example, our furniture and upholstery items were blanket wrapped and taped, bed mattresses and box springs were covered. The movers were really friendly, very hardworking, professional and worked well as a team. Of note, I booked this move very last minute, and while it took about a day to hear back from Discount initially, and there was a minor hiccup on verification of the deposit transfer, all worked out exceptionally well in the end - so if you too experience these things I recommend persisting:) I will definitely call on Discount again for our future moves. A+ overall!

Initially, they quoted me half what other movers charged and they were great.

They were running late with a prior job, but called me ahead of time to give me a heads up which was just fine. It wasn’t a major delay or anything. Plus, Tony said he would have 3 guys with him so it ended up going super smoothly anyways.

The guys were fast, efficient and polite. I would definitely recommend to anyone I know moving to book with Tony.

They also take most payment methods and work super independently. I had to head back to my old place and so Tony took the payment and they left it perfect and with all my stuff inside for me when I got back.

Tony even saw I had loaded my car full of stuff as well and told me to put it there for them and they’d take it up for me. Which was super nice!

Why 1 star?
- They wanted me to pay for one extra hour when their truck won't start. After unpleasant argument they brought it down to half an hour. Why should I pay them while they are fixing their truck?
- They lost some furniture parts and couldn't assemble the bed, initially he suggested I pay $500 insurance deductible to file a claim, then promised to find the missing parts but after waiting for days I had to order and pay for the parts myself
- Took 5 hours to finish, more than needed in my opinion.

Can’t say enough about Tony and team: they showed up on time, they were professional and got the job done quickly. One of the best moves we’ve had! Thanks much.

Booked my move 4 weeks out. One week prior to our move, our closing date got unexpectedly delayed. I emailed Tony immediately. The response back was one line that I would lose my deposit. I responded back that I was not cancelling but rescheduling. Next response was ‘this is not our fault and if I would have given 4 weeks notice’ I could keep my deposit. Hard to give that notice when I had booked it 4 weeks ago and this change was unforeseen. So unprofessional. If he would have explained that unfortunately company policy is to lose deposit when move date is changed X amount of days prior. I would have sucked it up and rescheduled. I did not sign any contract or was told deposit is kept if date changes. Can’t comment on his moving abilities but unprofessional poor business practices.
Edit: Tony you never explained the deposit was non refundable. You did not even try to work things out when I called you. You sounded happy to keep my deposit. October is not a busy moving month, I doubt you had to turn down work due to my need to reschedule. You continue on that it was ‘not your fault. ’ You are correct but life happens and things change. A professional organization would work with their client or at least state the deposit was non refundable when collected, not only after a negative review. After reading your responses to negative reviews, you never take responsibility. Not saying you are always at fault but take some accountability but that wound entail some personal growth on your part.

I had a wonderful experience with this company. They gave me the lowest rate in town and were very professional and organized. It is clear they have lots of experience with this type of work. They were easy to contact and answered all my questions to make me feel like I was in good hands. Would highly recommend!
