Dive Kawartha

Kris and his team of dive instructors made our introduction to diving a fantastic experience. Everyone is so friendly, and their enthusiasm for diving is obvious, and contagious. His attention to safety, and his ability to tailor the instruction to each student’s skill and comfort level is remarkable. Thank you for such an amazing experience!

Kris has the highest level of certification at PADI, and I’m positive he did not find this title in a box of cereal! He makes the diving industry proud by applying the high standards and continuing his learning further at every opportunity. Easy to approach, he will make you feel comfortable and will take the time to answer all your questions. At Dive kawarta, your expectations will be more than met!

I did the Sidemont instructor level certification with him so I could teach the Sidemont specialty and apply to become an MSDT. Kris is one of the few people who can teach at instructor level in the area, but even if I had been spoiled for choice, I would have chosen him!

My husband and I have been open water certified since the 90s. We weren’t able to dive more than a handful of times since the early 2000s when our children were born. Having decided to see if we still enjoyed the sport, we met Kris at Dive Kawartha to rent some equipment and take the plunge.

Kris has been AWESOME with sharing a wealth of information; even offering to allow us to jump in on a dive alongside his class. We can’t say enough about how supportive and non-judgmental he’s been with us ‘seasoned’ newbies. 100% recommendation for new and seasoned divers alike!

What an amazing week! Dive Kawartha, Turquoise Bay and Subway divers really rolled out the red carpet for us. It was filled with fun (sometimes too much!), laughter, and a whole lot of diving. Sting rays, octopus’, toad fish, sea horse cities, nurse sharks, dolphin day, and lion fish hunting. One new open water certification (ya girl!), four advanced, and two deep divers (including double digit deep diver Dave!). It just got better and better as the week went on. And we finished it off with some pretty big news and a celebration to be remembered.

I couldn’t be more grateful for this dive community and the lifetime of friendships I have made. Can’t wait for the next one!

Kris, Noland and Mike ensured that all new divers had the necessary skills to safely advance in their diving future regardless of skill level and time required. Well maintained rental equipment and knowledgeable professionals to help you out with your gear. Not all courses are equal which is why I'd highly recommend Dive Kawartha!

I've had the opportunity to spend some time with the Dive Kawartha Team and I think there are 2 key things to highlight about this shop.

Dive Kawartha isn't just a shop, rather it is a community. This is something I find highly important whether you are a new diver or an experienced diver. Finding gear and courses is easy but you need to find a community of friends to explore the underwater world. The community surrounding this shop welcomes all ages, levels and experiences where you're sure to find an easy going group of friends that will help you get going on your diving adventures.

My Journey with Dive Kawartha:
After returning from a recent diving trip, I had several experiences that made me want to develop certain skills and learn to properly plan my dives and allow me to be less stressed when I got paired with a less experienced dive buddy.

I had the pleasure of taking the Self Reliant course with Dive Kawartha. Kris was an awesome instructor! I felt that not only was he checking me for completion of skills but was also making sure that I really understood the material and its application. The way Kris delivered the course also re-enforced the philosophy of Self-Reliant diving at each step along the way which I felt was important.

One of the biggest challenges I have is that no matter how many times I’ve done it or practice it I still end up with a fair bit of anxiety for every course I take. Working with Kris, I found this easy to overcome and progress, Kris was extremely approachable and just by talking to him made a lot of that course anxiety disappear. Throughout the course I also felt really relaxed knowing that if there were things I needed to work on Kris would be there to help.

I would recommend Kris as an instructor anytime!

Such an amazing dive shop! Kris is truly passionate about what he does and it shows. Some could call him the encyclopedia of diving, whenever I have a question he has the answer. I have taken a few courses and joined several charters over the past year and every experience was top notch! Kris also really invests his time into researching the best dive gear available at the best prices for your specific needs. Do yourself a favour and check this place out!

I was very nervous about diving and intimidated as I thought it was a mostly male sport. Kris made me feel comfortable while completing my advanced training and I have met so many lovey women who are also divers. The shop has a wide variety of feminine wet suits, fins, masks and accessories; there is also great products for snorkelers. I have met so many wonderful divers on my vacations while diving. I highly recommend speaking with the staff at the shop and learning more about this amazing pastime.

Very Happy with Kris and his PADI Scuba knowledge/experience. Kris is a very good instructor and very patient. He took the time to check my equipment for me as well which was a big help. I have no problems recommending Dive Kawartha for an airfill, equipment checkup, or for pre-planned scuba events. Kris is also fantastic with special needs divers!

Completed my open water and advanced open water with these guys and I highly recommend them. Awesome group of very knowledgeable instructors!
