Cockroaches in building since these ppl took over and been off and on without hot water. I’ve called the hot line 3 times for two days and still calling! This is beyond ridiculous ppl need hot water especially in cold weather! These ppl are nothing but slumlord but a company

Horrible. Superintendent’s own words: “if you fill in the house holes they’ll just make new ones”

For $1650/month you get:

Mouse infestations. Cockroaches everywhere. Freezing cold. Water issues. Hallways and elevators are filthy and trash-filled.

My husband and I moved to 160 Market street days after our wedding in Saskatchewan as he was starting school here. We planned to take our honeymoon exploring Hamilton… we couldn’t even enjoy it due to all the horrible issues in this filthy building. We couldn’t shower for 16 days.

We were horrified to find cockroaches on our first night, flooding issues into the spare bedroom when we used the shower, mouse infestations, and more.

The building is disgusting. We reported mouse issues and had to wait over 30 days for any response. We keep our apartment SO clean and still have issues.

Fire alarm goes off once a week at least. Back main door is supposed to be locked but blows open in the wind.

FREEZING COLD!

The whole building is disgusting. We hate living here and cannot wait to leave. Never, ever trust DMS Group.

Run away from any building managed by DMS. You mean nothing to them. Im staying at 150 Main west and i have not had heat in my unit since October. I called and sent many emails but no one works here no answer! The superintendent lied about the central heating system being broken! I found out that non of my neighbours have had this issue and it is only in my unit! DMS does not want to deal with this. I got sick multiple times and i have been under mental distress due to this issue. Run away! They don’t care! All they care is the rent from their over priced unit! Run away from any place managed or owned by DMS

I've applied many times.finally got to see the apartment in Hamilton super said fill this out call me and its yours.go to call no answer call and email dms no replies for a month. Finally told me they gave it to someone else.happy but unhappy CLEAN YOUR BUILDING THE HALLS ARE FILTHY! Unprofessional

Bed bugs. It can happen, but why is the building filthy during covid. Building actually stinks. Elevator a disgrace. Can't get a hold of anyone. RUN. Rather live in a car. At least it's clean and your not looking for bugs climbing your wall. And on garbage day half the time they don't put out garbage. Wouldn't that be a priority?

If your building is ran by these crooks RUN AWAY. Been a tenant for 3 years in 1 unit with a mediocre overpriced experience at 50 Gerrard Street East, Toronto and just moved into a new unit, truly wish I went elsewhere. Bunch of poorly managed, unprofessional crooks with zero care for tenants. Building has no A/C and my unit topped 35 degrees celsius in the summer. If you run an A/C from Canadian Tire you will be charged upwards of $100 a month for the electricity it uses. When not even in the unit or using power you are still charged electricity bills. I left during the summer for 1 month and returned to a $40 bill when no power was even used. Most of the recent 5 star reviews are from people who do not live in the building.

On September 1st, 2020 the superintendent, receptionist and all cleaning staff were not wearing masks multiple times while in the office, tenants units and parking garage. They entered tenants units without masks, and prepared new units for tenants without wearing masks.

The building manager Monica is extremely rude and will hang up the phone on you while you share your concerns. My room was infested with ants, they were inside the walls and ended up all over my unit. With ants in my bed Monica told us to take a mattress and sleep in the common room and that no one can help.

More often then not 1 of the two elevators are broken. With hundreds of units everyone is forced to take 1 elevator. The handicap door opening buttons were broken for 3+ months and just fixed before the new rush of September tenants.

There is a poo stain on the third floor hallway that has been there for 5+ months.

When moving in, the loading dock is located directly next to garbage cans. By the end of moving you will have endless flies in your unit that stop appearing around October every year for the past 3 years.

Wifi in the common spaces is present but the connection is practically non-existent.

It is a student building yet many people not enrolled in a post-secondary institution and over the age of 30 live here. They fail to try and match you to a roommate that is similar to you. Although a roommate profile is present, I was paired with someone completely different than me every time. We never spoke.

Upon moving into my new unit this year they did not inspect it. I was not able to view the unit before moving in. 1 bathroom lightbulb was burnt out and the sink drain plug was clogged, deeming the sink not usable. The washroom door hinges were falling off and 2 screws were lying on the ground, these all had to be tightened for the door to properly close. The closet door handle was hanging by one screw and was not actually assembled. Various fuses on the circuit breaker were turned off or in the faulted position, requiring them to be reset. Because of this, the majority of the plug sockets in the room did not work. One plug socket had the cover dangling and not properly screwed in. Two lightbulbs in the kitchen were burnt out. The air vent on the wall was missing its cap. The fridge was also missing two shelves. The kitchen sink aerator was clogged and needed cleaning and tightening. The windows on the inside were absolutely filthy. All of these things have been fixed and cleaned by myself

They owned 50 young street too, crazy people SMASHING 3 to 4 cars in two weeks AND NO ONE CARE! DON'T RENT DMS. STAFF DONT CARES ABOUT ANYTHING BUT JUST COLLECTING RENT. LOTS OF SAFETY ISSUES!

These people manage a building 200 old carriage drive and there are tons of problems which we started facing after DMS came in. No front desk staff to assist the tenants post 5pm. There is no one at the emergency call. The common areas smells like rotten eggs because DMS uses a cheap cleaning liquid. The air conditioner is broken in tower B since last 2 months but these people are not fixing it coz DMS wants your rent on time but no service is provided. Bringing starbucks in the building wont increase your swag. Starlight / DMS is a horrible management company, i loved drewlo holdings management they worked for customer service unlike DMS.

They don’t even deserve a single star. The management for 57 forest avenue in Hamilton is so rude, they ignore calls whenever you try to call and don’t even bother getting back to you even if you left a voicemail. Poor customer service. The apartments are full of bedbugs and roaches too. Elevators are always dirty.
