Dog Sense Day Care & Grooming

Went to go get my dog groomed here and I’ve never been happier with the results! Did a wonderful job with the bathing/cut and my little Cooper looks and smells amazing!

We used to clip our dog's nails at home. The dog was never a fan. Lol. Clipper broke and we decided to go to Dog Sense. Great decision. Quick, gentle and easy. The dog seemed to love it. Price is reasonable too. Going to be a regular visit now.

RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AS FAST AS YOU CAN!
I am extremely disappointed at everything! I can only imagine what my Yorkie went thru while getting groomed.

They most definitely don’t know how to run a business. (Owner) is absolutely rude, has no matters, yells in your face. She also accused me of not wanting to pay. She does not know how to treat her customers extremely aggressive. When all I was saying is how unsatisfied my dog turned out even after I showed a reference photo. They missed a paw when nail trimming, dog’s ears were cut uneven, my dogs body hair way too short they even left some sections with long strands of hair hanging!

Her answer was “groomer tried“ once again yelling and super aggressive. To my understanding if I’m paying for a “professional service” it’s not for the groomers to practice or try on my dog and that’s exactly what they did!

DEFINITELY DONT RECOMMEND.

Great staff who took care of our darling Cinnamon.made friends and had lots of fun and loved getting her cuttles. They also show pictures of your pet so you can see how they are when you board them

Caesar loves to go for his grooming at Dog Sense and he loves being around other dogs in a controlled and supervised area.

My dog is very anxious. When I’m not around she cries the whole time. I was worried to leave her for a hair but she absolutely loves the staff there. My dog behaves better there than at my own home

Have taken my dog here for a couple of years now, my dog always comes out nicely groomed and happy. People there are kind and understanding.

Not a quality daycare. I would never bring my dog back there! The owner is unprofessional and has no idea how to deal with a rescue dog! Her location stinks and needs to be washed out!

Excellent doggy daycare! We like that they keep the smaller dogs separated from the larger dogs, as our dog is somewhat intimated by large dogs so this daycare allowed her to experience daycare in a comfortable, welcoming setting where she wasn't forced to socialize with huge, overbearing dogs. Staff are friendly and I also like how we get a report card each day of what she did and who she played with. Highly recommend!

Great location, friendly staff and they accommodated my last minute walk-in close to closing time. I will certainly be going back with my dog for all his services:)

Great service, friendly staff. Susan was very prompt in contacting me after I inquired. My puppy had a great time on her first day! I received a written report with the relevant information about her eating, bathroom, etc.which I very much appreciated. Puppy came home super tired and happy. Will definitely be taking puppy back soon!

We love Helen’s grooming at Dog Sense. She always listens to the request we make and takes such a good care of Chase. She is the best. The rest of the staff is very professional too. Update: There are no longer mask mandates in place for non-health care settings and Proof of COVID vaccinations are no longer required. So I’m not sure what the owner is talking about!

I took my dog for a meet and greet to check the place out. He was over excited because he could hear the other dogs. The woman that runs the place took the leash off his harness and put in in a martingale collar. Martingales tighten slightly to keep dogs from escaping their collars. At least this is how they are supposed to be used. This woman was clearly using them as punishment and yanked hard until my dog quieted down out of fear. She then took him away from me into the back where I couldn't see what was going on. When she returned she claimed my 4 month old puppy was being aggressive and hurting other dogs.

I wasn't there so I can't refute that though my dog generally plays well with others. If he didn't I suspect it was out of fear because of the way she was treating him

It's one of those situations where in hindsight you wish you had walked out as soon as you saw your dog being mistreated but either way I would not feel safe utilizing any services from this business

This was Max's second time for his grooming. He looks so cute. Susan it was nice seeing you again.

I have been taking my pup Montana to Dog Sense for 12 years now. Helen, the groomer is past perfection when grooming - the staff are true dog lovers and you know that your dog, large or small will have a great day when they come for grooming or a play date - they don't leave them inside locked up, but they take all dogs outside for a good run around and fresh air. Susan, the owner goes out of her way and stands behind Dog Sense 1,000% I have no issues leaving Montana there to play and he gets to stay outside for a long time during the day (weather permitting) and comes home with a HUGE smile on his face. Susan truly knows how to run her business and is always open for any comments from her customers

My nug would cry after me when I dropped him off, sad and anxious when I would pick him up. Easily scared and easily nervous with any quick movements which were never apparent until he went here for a couple months when he was a puppy.

I eventually decided to move him into a different dog care and his demeanor changed instantly. He was excited to go, didn't look back when I dropped him off, happy and tired when I pick him up.

The convenience of this location being so close to home was definitely not worth the "trauma" my dog faced. Never again. I NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Run and run fast.

Cookie loves coming here and begins to bark up a storm the moment she comes within 5 mins of this place. Josh is wonderful as is their groomer. I have an Australian Shepherd and they do a wonderful job on her "Bermuda Shorts ". Would def recommend.

Today, Astrid shows me how happy she is to have a day at Dogsence. She comes home, flying in thee door. Zoomies and huge grin! Only healthy happy dogs behave that way. We are so blessed to have Josh looking after Astrid with love and compassion. Our rescue needs a wee bit of TLC and Thst is what we are given. Thankyou you. We are blessed.

Love this place! Great to find a place where people care about the dogs and dogs are being happy.

This was the first time my cockapoo Ruby was getting groomed. Other places that I had checked out said they couldn’t do dogs who were as young as Ruby (6 months). The minute I knew it would be a good experience for both of us. The groomer came out to welcome Ruby and then took her in—Ruby never even looked back. When I went back a couple of hours later to pick her up, she looked amazing. The groomer had done an amazing job, all to my specifications. Josh was very helpful and informative at the front desk. I thought the quality of the groom was professional and the price was fair. I will definitely be bringing Ruby back to Dog Sense for all of her future groomings. I highly recommend Dog Sense if you want fast and friendly service.

It was my dogs first time at doggy daycare and he loved it when I picked him up he was relaxed and just seemed like he really enjoyed his time there we will definitely bring him again the staff is extremely friendly and great with animals highly recommend there services

I’ve been waiting a long time to make this review. My dogs went for a grooming and came home with tiny knicks in their fur. They are both elderly and my oldest one passed a month after and I’ve been haunted by the thought of what actually happened to them the day they were there. The minute they both got home they were both having trouble breathing and going to the washroom. I remembered reading a review from a women describing very similar behaviour after she picked up her dog. Judging from the shape my dogs were in it was clear they were very rough with my pets and the owner is notorious for not caring about the welfare of her clients. She is very much interested in making a Profit (apparently she has quite the reputation in the neighborhood). Go somewhere where they have a proper facility as dog sense is very blocked off and pet owners cannot see what’s happening behind the scenes. Please be warned that the owner of dog sense hires companies to post fake reviews (another fact given to me by another extremely unhappy pet owner). Go somewhere reputable. Read the bad review as they are the honest ones.

I brought my dog for grooming yesterday (March 23,2020) and she came home with her back paw bleeding. I called Dog Sense to inquire and the Manager said she was fine when she left here it must have been cut on the way home. Not sure how this could happen when I carried her home. He then put me touch with the groomer; Helen who proceeded to tell me how to stop the bleeding. It was not about stopping the bleeding, this SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED AT ALL! She then said, I need to take my complaint to the owner. Called the owner and still no return call. I;'m sure she is overwhelmed with complaints. They won't own that they are responsible and that they injured my dog. She is now limping and favors her paw. This is completely unacceptable. I WILL NEVER BRING MY DOG TO THIS HORRIBLE PLACE AGAIN! Poor little innocent dogs don't deserve to be mistreated like this. More concerning to me is that they run a dog day care - people BEWARE of how your animals are being treated!

My puppy and I went here tonight for a puppy socialization. The play rooms are very small and darkly lit. I found that there was a strong smell, part dog smell, part cleaning products smell. I had to leave after 30 minutes because my skin started to itch (I am highly allergic to dust and bleach scents). Unfortunately, this place is not for me! $5 was a good price to try it out.

I took my 4 months old puppy to get his first grooming done. When I went to pick him up they did not mention there was anything wrong. While I was driving home he was crying out loud. I didn’t know why when he is a happy puppy and takes travelling easily. Until I got home and realized one of his back foot is bleeding from the nails. They did not mention to me anything about the incident. Poor communication and irresponsible caring.
I am not coming back here!

Dogsense Is by far THE WORST place I have taken my dog to. My dog’s eye is red and very irritated, and also has two razor burns on his legs. I’m not satisfied AT ALL. A friend of mine also brought her dog as well and found multiple razor burns and had trouble going to potty for about a week.

Worst service ever! Receptionist does not know how to read a vaccination paper from my vet. Argued with us for validity instead of calling the vet for confirmation. He has been doing this for the second time! Medicine lot expiration date is not the same thing with dog’s rabies vaccination expiration. Did not want to reason!

Susan is GREAT.we love the doggie meet ups. The groomer is great also.when I send my dogs to daycare, i get report cards and i can tell they had a good time.

TERRIBLE. I took my dog here yesterday, and she has razor burns all around her private area and belly. I brought her here one other time before, and they also left many razor burns. She can’t move or go potty because it’s hurting her. She has not moved from her bed since we brought her home yesterday.

This facility is amazing and staffed by wonderful, caring people. My dog always has a great time and the staff know how to handle all types of dog personalities. You can be sure that your dog will be well exercised and cared for the entire time. A big thank you to all the staff who provide all the pups with love and care!

I worked here once, they have a high turnover because they abuse dogs. If you contact the SPCA they will confirm they have been reported. Don't bring your dog here unless you're okay with them being kicked.

Ok, so I really have to respond to a recent review for Dog Sense. I rarely review or post but when I read a posting by an obviously disgruntled ex-employee it is time to comment. I have been bringing my dogs to Dog Sense since it first opened (operating in good standing for 14 years). I have used the day care, training and grooming services. I have always felt a part of the Dog Sense family and have always been impressed by the hard work and dedication I see from the friendly staff and Susan, the owner. Over time there have been staff changes. I believe this is because many of the staff that have or are working at Dog Sense come for a variety of reasons. People want to work at Dog Sense because they love dogs! It is not enough this love of dogs. What Dog Sense offers it’s employees is a chance to gain work experience, learn dog care skills and also in some cases, a chance to complete their schooling at the same time. Dog Sense has become an important part of the community as it dedicates itself to training their staff not only the skills they need to work in a challenging service industry but also those they need to work with dogs. This is not an easy place to work. Dogs of all kinds and all sizes are accepted at Dog Sense and the team work very hard to socialise the dogs properly as well as their owners (they are the ones that need training, really!). It is not an easy task. Dog Sense staff undertake a variety of training to do this well. Dog Sense is also very involved in supporting animal welfare organisations throughout the year. I cannot speak highly enough about a business I believe works hard to contribute to my community like Dog Sense. I find it incorrigible when from behind the screen, people can carelessly write a review, without context, which can be used to malign a company that takes their job so seriously. I hope that this helps others to consider reviews they post or read online. I also believe approaching Susan directly (owner of Dog Sense) is a more appropriate way to deal with issues and concerns.

Peekoo always enjoys himself when he gets boarded at Dog Sense! He come home a happy boy! The staff are great at what they do! We have been going there for the past 5 or 6 years now.

They left my dog super handsome. The daycare was very helpful for me since I left him at 9am and couldn't pickup him only after work past 5pm. Thank you sooo much for taking care of him.

A great place for your furry family member!
The staff are friendly and fun, and the service is excellent. There's always lots of dogs here, so it's never lonely.
Two things to keep in mind:
- They're very strict with their late fees!
- It's an extra $10/day for dogs that haven't been fixed (puppies are exempted).

Took my dogs for grooming, when I picked them up it seemed like nothing had been done. When I asked them, they basically admitted to not doing much. I asked them to either clip my dogs or give me a refund. Manager hasn't called back. Bunch of crooks.

Edit: owner had me come back and use a different groomer who did a better job. Appreciate the willingness to correct the mistake. That said, still not a fan of one of the 2 groomers working there.

Archer's been going to Dogsense Day Care daily for 2 years. He ADORES the entire staff, and is particularly bonded with Josh There's no one I trust more with my dog than Dogsense!

Friendly staff and good place for day or overnight stay for your dog. Reasonable prices. Convenient location.
