Both my dog and I love visiting Dogtopia

The staff are always kind and are always willing to do what it takes to create a positive customer service experience

Extremely disappointed pet parent- my dog was bitten by another dog today and the staff treated it as a minor small injury and lacked empathy that I was a concerned pet parent. Took my dog to the vet for emergency consult and treatment- $400. Dogtopia has a pet parent agreement that they other parent is responsibility. I wrote an email to the GM- waiting for response.

Overall service has deteriorated over the last few months

Pricing has gone up. For premium pricing I expect the dog coaches to attend to the dogs and not let incidents like this happen. I asked for the video footage to see exactly what happened- waiting to hear back.

Very very unhappy and disappointed

I've brought my dogtopia multiple times and was truly disappointed with the boarding and the lack of customer service and overall care as well

the dogs should be treated in a safe and respectful way and have a comfortable stay and would not recommend

Panda has been boarded a couple of times and goes to daycare. He is well looked after during his time at Dogtopia and the staff sends updates while being boarded to let me know how he's doing. I never have to worry about him while I'm gone for several days. Staff love their jobs.

Extremely disappointed with the customer service of this company. I brought my dog here in hopes of providing her with a fun and safe environment. Unfortunately it was not a good fit for my dog and I made the decision to cancel. Upon advising Dogtopia of my cancellation they advised me of the 8 week minimum that I must bring my pet. Upon registering I discussed with a team member the scenario of it was not a good fit for my pet could I cancel without penalty I was advised "It shouldn't be a problem they are very accommodating". Nothing could have been further from the truth. I discussed with them how my dog was showing extreme signs of anxiety such as shaking and relentlessly pulling and crying not wanting to go the facility. Dogtopia was aware prior to my cancellation of these signs and advised that their solution was for me was to "bring her more frequently". I was not happy with this solution and advised I would not be bringing her more often due it not being feasible, unnecessary for my needs and most importantly how scared my pet is to attend. I was sitting at 6 weeks when I advised of my cancellation and I was told me that I would still be charged for my remaining two week period. This was not great to hear that I would be charged over $100 unnecessarily as I did not feel comfortable to bring my pet somewhere that makes her feel uncomfortable and scared. I requested I transfer these visits to another person at the facility and was told no - they are non transferrable. They had no solution. I set an email explaining my unhappiness and later received a call from one of their employees who said they would look at getting my two remaining weeks cancelled free of charge and would advise me by email about their success - No email and I have been continuously charged. Its telling that their policies reflect making money and not for the betterment and enjoyment of the animals attending. This is not a business I stand behind or support and would recommend looking for alternate arrangements for your pet.

So extremely disappointed
Booked an appointment for a Saturday because I work during the week and have to drive from Beamsville. Thought I would try a more commercialized groomer than a private place because I thought they would be more organized and take care of my fur baby. I was very wrong. I had an appointment at 2: 15 today, was contacted at 10: 30 to let me know the groomer called in sick. I understand that people get sick, but shouldn’t a backup be available? And then to make matters even more lovely, they don’t have availability in Burlington until November 16, which is a WEDNESDAY! I work in a field where we use scheduling, if an emergency arises, we make sure everyone is taken care of right away because it is unfair to make them wait. First come first serve. I’m extremely disappointed and will never use the services of this company.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED.
We Booked an appointment for a Saturday almost one month prior due to their busy schedule and due to our busy work schedule during the week. Coming from the Niagara region we thought we would try this groomer over a private place because we thought they would be more organized and take good care of our little puppy. We had an appointment for 2pm today, got a call at 10: 30 to let us know the groomer called in sick. I understand that people get sick, but shouldn’t a backup be available? And then to make matters even more lovely, they don’t have availability in Burlington for a month from the initial appointment.

Incredible care for all the dogs and puppies under their care. The staff genuinely enjoy their work and get to know the people and their pets. They host many events and activities throughout the month and always celebrate new arrivals. Highly recommended if you have a busy schedule, you can relax knowing your little ones are being well taken care of.

My puppy absolutely loved it. Came home exhausted. Always excited to go.
She did come home with kennel cough that she picked up on her second or third visit. I realize that kennel cough is the same as a cold. It was there reaction I wasn't impressed with. When I informed them they simply said "ok.thanks for letting us know". They continued to send me promotional emails. Never checked up on the dog, tried to blame it on contact outside of their daycare. The reason she was there was because I live in the country and there are no other dogs. I don't know if they informed any of the other per owners.

Would definitely recommend Dogtopia of Burlington.
Friendly staff who all have a genuine passion for what they do.
Dogtopia is your one stop destination if you are looking for daily dog care, boarding or grooming.
Our golden doodle is always excited to go to Dogtopia whenever he gets the chance.

No pick up on Saturdays after 4pm AND no pickup anytime on Sundays when boarding a dog. Seems like they hold your pet hostage for a few extra bucks. There must be staff on site on a Sunday… yet I am still unable to pick up my dog. Very disappointing.

I signed my 11 month old dog up at dogtopia as I was expecting it to be a safe and controlled environment. After her second visit, she developed a severe sickness over the weekend after spending a Wednesday Thursday Friday at the daycare. She had developed kennel cough and more than 2 weeks later is still extremely sick.
After hundreds in vet bills, I will not be sending my dog back to a facility that does not ensure that dogs being sent there are not sick. I trusted this place and the workers with the safety of my puppy and after 2 days spend there for her first time around other dogs, will not trust this place again.

Dogtopia is the best. They take such good care of our pup, I feel so secure knowing he is there while we are at work. They are attentive and always answer emails and phone calls quickly. My dog absolutely loves going there and gets so excited to see all the staff. I love that I can tune into the webcams and check in on him, I trust the staff for this transparency. They are fantastic about making sure he gets breaks and quiet time when needed too, and even called to let me know they were pulling him from the playroom to catch his breath so that I wouldn't worry if I didn't see him on the cameras. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this place. Plus they do fun little events with themed days, treats etc.

First time for our puppy Vern at daycare! We were very impressed with Dogtopia. We were a little hesitant as Vern is a very active dog requires a lot of attention. He seemed to be very happy there, tuckered out when he got home! Looking forward to his next visit!

My dog loves this place! Did wish they went past 7 pm for day care but they make up for it with great people and fun times for the pup

Jameson has been to dogtopia 3 times now and he just loves his time there. Each visit he becomes more comfortable and makes more friends. I love that I can check in on him via the camera's and see just how much fun he is having! Highly recommend!

Our dog and puppy started coming here a few months ago. Our older Labrador loves it here and just walks in like it's her home. Our Doberman pup started to get used to it, but because she's not spayed and is now older than 7 months she can't come back until next year.but that's okay.
I hope their policy regarding Saturday morning drop offs for overnights change, as well as picking up on Sundays. Having to board for 3 nights when all you need 1, is a bit odd. Not sure if this was a Covid related issue, but hopefully it's short term because that's a lot of potential business down the drain.
13 July 2021 16:31
The staff is kind, warm, and really seem to care for your four legged friend. I do wish there was some outdoor space to be honest, I worry at times if all that time inside with the lack of windows might be bad for my dog but as long as she seem happy to be there when I drop her off I intend to continue using the service.
05 July 2021 14:16
She had so much fun today! Loved seeing her on webcam throughout the day. Will definitely be back!
02 February 2021 22:03
My Bernedoodle, Bailey, loves going to Dogtopia and we are extremely happy to have Burlington dogtopia across our building. Their professional, caring, always smiling staffs are the BEST. Nothing but amazing experience.
22 January 2021 16:55
The staff are excellent. Always prompt, friendly, respectful, understanding dog owners love of their dogs and happy to answer any questions. Love the webcam to watch my dog.only problem is it is VERY addictive. Sometimes they have what looks like bordering on too many dogs in their Daycare but they add staff to manage. Staff keep the rooms very clean and are quick to immediately clean up after dogs. My teenage covid puppy was shy and was a scaredy cat, so didn't engage, but the majority of dogs had a great day with their furry friends.
06 January 2021 18:40
Friendly staff and a clean environment for the dogs. The only negative experience is the long wait time when picking up dogs.

I had a problem with my year old mini Labradoodle. Molly is timid by nature and was petrified of grooming and shivered and became aggressive whenever she was lifted on the table. Molly does however love other dogs and Dogtopia daycare. Taylor, groomer extraordinaire, identified the problem and worked with me to desensitize Molly by taking advantage of Molly’s love for daycare while slowly introducing time in grooming. After just a few weeks I’m happy to say that Molly is a changed little dog and is no longer traumatized by the grooming process. I want to thank Taylor and all the staff at Dogtopia for their patience and care of Molly. I have no problem recommending Dogtopia Burlington to anyone who is looking for a place for daycare or grooming.

We have brought our four month old puppy here three times already and every time he visits he loves seeing his friends and by the end of the day when we pick him up he's so excited to see us and falls asleep on the way home. As a overprotective bulldog mama, I was nervous at first to let him go incase other dogs would scare him but I was pleased to see the testing Dogtopia does on each dog before they're allowed to socialize with the other dogs. We feel 100% comfortable leaving our puppy here and it helps us immensely with our work schedules. Thanks so much Dogtopia we will be long term customers for our current and future bulldogs!

Staff is so friendly, helpful and loving to my furry friend. Grateful for the energy that is expelled at this Dogtopia with our new puppy.

I took my Westie here for a groom to try somewhere different. They did an amazing job! They were very professional, took many precautions do to Covid and the price was amazing! I will definitely be going here from now on!:)

Great staff and facility. Everyone goes above and beyond for the puppers!
SAM have it a high paw UP! Highly recommend, but just wish there was an outdoor option.
31 March 2020 8:17
What a great place. Yes, it’s pricy, but having experienced crate boarding and seeing how he is afterwards, worth every penny.

The staff are great and I love having the opportunity to see him when we are so far away really helps ease my guilt of leaving him.

I was a bit apprehensive because dogs are running free. I was worries about how fights and disagreements between dogs would be handled. But the camera really helps. And that being said, I am impressed with the staff’s canine knowledge.

I do agree the pricing structure is a bit confusing and inflexiable. But that is so secondary to what’s important, my fur baby.
27 March 2020 7:34
Whenever we are in the area we drop off our pup and he has the best time! It’s great that we can view him on the camera and he has so much fun! Also all of the staff are so loving and nice, you can tell they are happy to be hanging with the puppers! Really great place!

Great place for my dog to get all that excess energy out. They are well looked after and surroundings are maintained very well. Convenient hours and location and great staff!

I was in a rush taking my dog home for family day weekend they squeezed me in for a groom and a teeth cleaning.

Great cut at a reasonable price I will definitely be back!

Facility: New building and consistently being cleaned / clean.

Staff/Service: Incredible. We can’t say enough about the team at Burlington Dogtopia. They do more than just watch your dog for the day and will go the distance to help you with any problems. They know where to place your pup to make sure their day is successful and fun!

Price: Although pricing is sometimes what will turn people off - you need to know you are getting so much more then just a daycare.

Overall: Can’t say enough. Even the district manager helped us with some training tips. Don’t shy away just because this is a franchise - the people who operate this place are loving and caring dog lovers who just want your pup to have a dope day!

Thanks Dogtopia!

First time to get our puppy groomed. They took excellent care of him, and he looks and smells great! We will definitely return.
02 December 2019 17:16
We love taking our dog to be groomed at Dogtopia. It was our first time bringing our dog to the Burlington location, and it was just as awesome as the others! The staff were friendly and attentive and made our dog look great! She sheds like crazy, so we got the Furminator treatment and 3 weeks later and she's still barely shedding. We will definitely be dropping our girl off here regularly!

Every dog owner should go here! I normally get my dog groomed by Kirsten whom I think is great but the new hire Taylor she did an amazing job on Oreo.very pleased. They really good on hires because I like everyone. Sincerely Bonnie

Love the place! Our fur baby had a fantastic time! Normally I worry about him but they made it easy and showed how safe the environment was to leave him to play and make new friends! He can’t wait to go back!

We recently moved to Burlington and were in search of a new doggy daycare. Dogtopia is a nice facility - it's very clean, and the staff are great. They are really good with our dog who is excited when we drop her off. We recently used their groomer, Taylor, who did a beautiful job!

However, I have three major issues:
1) This place is extremely expensive. They have a whole host of membership and package options to help reduce the cost, but it's still very pricey. Their grooming is also extremely expensive - it was $85 for a small, 20 pound dog!

2) The pricing structure is extremely inflexible. Our previous day-care offered day-care at half price when the dogs also had a grooming appointment. However, this place offers no such package. The "option" presented to us was to do a half-day of daycare (5 hours) and then she would be groomed; however, we have a monthly membership AND a 20-day pass, and were informed that neither of these options could be used for a "half day. " The lack of flexibility with their membership/day pass packages to accommodate a grooming appointment at their facility is very frustrating, especially since there is zero logical reason that my membership or 20-day pass couldn't have one of the "days" be split into two "half days. "

3) They have two rooms - one for small/low energy dogs, and one for larger/high energy dogs, which is great. However, they put all the puppies in the small dog/low energy room, which is ridiculous when the puppies are large breed dogs with high energy. If they are going to separate based on size and energy/temperament, they should be consistent in this and apply that rule to puppies as well. My small, low-energy dog does not appreciate playing with 50+ pound jumpy puppies who have a play style that would be better suited in the large dog/high energy room.

-

EDIT - thanks for the response, Dogtopia! I really appreciate it. While I understand that the half day is a similar price to what I'm paying through my packages/memberships, the issue is that I've already paid for days. So I'm either "wasting" part of what I've paid for, OR I have to pay for an additional half day on top of what I'm already paying. The whole point of memberships and day-passes is to discount the daily rates. So equating my discounted daily rate to the full half-day rate is silly. I think having grooming on-site at day-care is a huge asset, but there should be better coordination/integration with memberships so that people are getting the full value of their membership, and are not having to pay for additional day-care services in order to accommodate a grooming appointment.

I am still not clear why it's the responsibility of the small/mellow dogs to teach rowdy, large puppies their socialization and manner skills. While I feel confident that my dog is safe in these situations b/c the canine coaches are great, her entire personality and comfort level changes when there are large puppies playing rough together (there's a reason she's in the Toy Box - she prefers the company of smaller, mellow dogs). So my comment has nothing to do with safety, but more so that smaller, quieter, and lower-key dogs feel significantly more uncomfortable and less relaxed with the addition of large, rowdy puppies.

PS - Taylor is amazing and Dessa looked awesome after her groom. I highly recommend.

Great place to take your dog if you need daycare. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly. That's my dog Griffin definitely had a good time and the pack of dogs there I notice to all be comfortable with each other and friendly. Has somebody in the dog business I would definitely feel comfortable leaving my animals in their care.

Excellent treatment for my daughter's dog. Jackson received a thorough cleaning; bath, nail clipping, and ear cleaning. Total renewal for our pet. I would highly recommend!

Until recently we loved having our dog at dogtopia Burlington. He was allowed to be curious, play freely and interact with the other dogs. He was happy when he came home and truly showed great signs of enjoyment when we watched him through the venues live we cams.

Things seem to have changed recently. There are way too many dogs in one room for the dogs to truly enjoy their play time and have space to run around. The venue has two rooms meant for large dogs however they still keep all 30 dog in one room where they cant play freely. The dogs are put in time outs in the crates. A few minutes for the dogs to calm down if causing a Rucus is understandable however our dog keeps getting put in the crate time and time again. And for longer than 20 mins each time. For what you may wonder? For playing around like a normal dog. When put in the crate he's showing clear signs of distress in which the employee can see and clearly ignores. While not all of the employees act this way there seems to be one in particular that doesn't look like she enjoys what's she's doing there and is constantly yelling at the dogs for playing. In all dog training that is done the crate is meant to be a safe space for the dogs to go in freely to relax. This venue is using them as a punishment as the dogs are dragged in there against their will and caged up to watch the other dogs run around freely. That is truly a torture for our dog to see.

We have a few days left in our passes but are so dissatisfied that we won't be taking him back there. Our dog needs a true space for him to play and interact with other dogs.

We recommend not choosing this place if you have a large dog that likes to run and play and it's discouraged to do so at this location. From what I can tell the smaller dogs room is okay.

Great place to bring your dog for lots of love and fun. My Charlie loves going and I have had very positive experiences with staff. They truly do care about our furry friends!
13 February 2019 9:05
This place is awesome! My 5 month old puppy had a blast here! And my mind was put at ease because you can watch them on their live puppy cam all throughout the day can't wait to send him back!

My dog Bailey absolutely loves going to dogtopia! The staff is always so great and helpful. She comes come tired and happy. The staff really seems to work as a great team. Even watching on the webcams the staff is always so engaging with the dogs. I can’t say enough how happy we are that we found this place!
12 January 2019 18:14
Horrible customer service. Came in for a tour not a play session just to see the facility. Their email says be up to date not bring proof with you and they simply kick you out
10 January 2019 9:07
Quite disappointed with the grooming service here. We brought our puppy in at noon and were told he would be there a few hours. We called in at 4: 30 and he still hadn't been groomed yet. They called us at 6 pm for pick up. I asked if he had been taken out to pee because he had been there for so long. The receptionist said she was "pretty sure he peed" but also said she hadn't been there very long. When we picked him up he was panting and looked miserable. I took him outside and he peed the longest I have ever seen him pee. He panted all the way home, despite being shaved down to a millimetre in length everywhere, and went straight to the water bowl and drank like I have never seen him drink before. It is so disheartening to know that this store pretends to care about dogs but cant even be bothered to take the dog out to relieve itself or give water when keeping him there for 6 hours. Shameful and we will never go back.
