Horrible car rental company. They stole my phone that was locked in the car during dropping off and won’t show the camera footage. Extremely unprofessional customer service. Parry (manager), Mohammed and whoever else was involved in stealing my belongings and not admitting it. I rent vehicles from all rental places and this one has to be the WORST. And they will charge you for things you didn’t agree to. Just be careful. Go with enterprise instead

If i would give this a zero star i would, Terrible price And terrible customer service i rented a car and was having some problems at the counter so i went to get my bag to get my files then when i come back my kids started telling me how both of the people sitting at the counter was talking bad about me and saying bad stuff i’m not gonna say what they said but yeah and the price is way too expensive very bad experience and i will absolutely NOT be coming back what a shame that’s all i have to say

Thieves. Submitted a lost item report an hour after turning the car in after going through security at the airport and never heard anything. The website reports no items found, so they just kept the item and never reported it.

Edit: I already filled out the form located at that link. That's why I said I submitted a lost item report an hour after turning the car in. The form did alert the location, and the location did nothing. It has been three weeks since I submitted the form.

We picked up a car at Dollar at Toronto International Airport in Ontario Canada.
We booked a Toyota RAV4 or similar and got a Nissan Rogue. They are functionally similar although as a RAV4 owner I think the Toyota is a better car
The desk at the airport is easy enough to find and the staff were efficient and competent.
We were told to inspect the car but take no notice of any minor blemishes as they would be ignored on returning the car.
I don't remember any great effort to upsell but they did offer the option to add a driver and there were a couple of options regarding fuel.
The car was clean and worked perfectly. I think there were 20000 miles on it but you couldn't tell.
Eight days later the return agent accepted the car in a process that was a couple of minutes. He didn't need to see the furl receipts but I always have them ready.
On the whole, a great car hire experience and I would go Dollar again in Canada.
I will say Pearson Airport is awful. It's very easy to go astray trying to get to the hire return car park and it should be noted that Avis is a separate compound from all the rest. If you go in you can't get to the others. You have to come out and travel through the rest of the park to the correct company compound within the larger car park.
Not Dollar's fault and would be the same experience for any hire company at that airport.

There are too many extra charges! Could have rented a car from any of the other rental places at the airport for half the total amount I was charged by them!

AND NOW YOU WANT TO TALK TO ME ON A STUPID PLATFORM LIKE FACEBOOK MESSENGER! THAT IS A BIG NO! THE LINK YOU PROVIDED TAKES ME TO MESSENGER AND WANTS ME TO SIGN IN. I PAID $801.93 Canadian for the rental! I could have gone to Avis and got the exact same vehicle for $423.56 Canadian.for the EXACT same package I got through your company! I WILL NEVER RENT FROM YOU AGAIN! AND NEVER RECOMMEND YOUR RENTAL COMPANY TO ANYONE!
I had 3 charges put on my credit card.one for the rental.one ofr the insurance.and one to ADD MY HUSBAND as a second driver! I HAVE NEVER BEEN CHARGED TO HAVE MY HUSBAND AS A SECOND DRIVER ON ANY VEHICLE. SPOUCES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN FREE EVERYWHERE ELSE I HAVE RENTED A CAR!

Very very very bad company, we’ve been booked online pay money since one month ago today we arrive to Canada and went to pick up t car they say sorry we didn’t have car. And after a while they say wait we will clean one but from 10pm till now it’s pass 12 midnight and we didn’t receive any and they don’t agree to refund our money
So not recommended and take care. From them

I rented a car from Dollar at terminal 3 and we had a great experience; except for some long queue, the service was great the employee who served us (Harry) has been very professional and helpful and we received a great car that worked perfectly during our stay.

Never again!

I didn‘t know car rental could get as bad as this.
Had to wait more than 1h for a car that was prebooked and prepaid. The station didn‘t even had enough cars. Employees were very unfriendly and the car we finally got was in really bad shape. Big dent, whippers not working, terribly dirty outside and inside (spilled coke, stained seats, strong canabis smell). Not only disgusting, but also unsafe to drive.

Do not use this rental, as it is as close to fraud as it gets.
Never again!

I would not recommend renting here. They do not abide by the time reservation. I ended up having to wait an hour after the time I had reserved months prior. This is not an issue I have experienced from other companies at Pearson and is disappointing to see here.

Our booking/reservation was all set but ultimately Dollar refused to give us a car because of a system error that even involved ServiceOntario and did not provide any flexibility. After a heated argument out of pure frustration, we left feeling defeated and called a Lyft instead. One employee (a lovely and kind woman, so sorry we didn’t get your name) went above and beyond and chased after us to apologize for the mishap and advised us to try Alamo instead. She was right - although we had to pay over $150 more than the Dollar booking, Alamo THANKFULLY was able to give us a car. Thank you for saving the day and our trip. We are so grateful and wish your colleagues knew how to provide better customer service.

On m'a surchargé du gaz et je suis incapable de les contacter. J'avais choisi l'option remplir avant de retourner la voiture et il n'y a aucune charge sur mon estimé. J'ai retourné la voiture tout de suite après avoir fait le plein. Puis quand j'ai reçu ma facture, ils m'ont chargé 3.69$/L!

We rented a car from dollar for the first time from Toronto airport. I would rate our experience as average. After waiting in line for 45 mins, we were told that no cars were available and we had to wait for 1-1.5 hour. So we decided that we would head out and pick the car later. As we were going back to ground transport area, we got a text saying our car was ready with no explanations provided. Anyways, once we got the car, it was fine and the return was smooth. Note they authorize a large hold on your credit card which wasn’t just surprising for us but also for others standing in the line. However, in the end, there were no additional / hidden fees charged to us.

Booked a rental for 12pm, it’s 2pm and we’re still waiting for it! Had to prepay for the booking otherwise would have just gone somewhere else. How is this reasonable? !

Prepaid car at yyz airport and “sorry no car available right now” front counter staff rude with no empathy. No express check in process. I would NOT recommend. The 3 people ahead of me the same thing ‍️

Reserved a mid size car and ended up with a downgrade after the only counter attendant said they were out of cars with a reservation made 3 weeks prior. The car was not safe for winter driving season down the highway. The attendant knew I was driving a far distance.

First time renting a van with this company as I had never heard of them and to be honest I thought that the deal was too good to be true! I hadn't read all of the reviews but on the day of the pick up I was panicking and also skeptical. Like what was I getting into? As I wasn't arriving from a flight finding information about their counter was quite frustrating. The uber driver that dropped me off though knew where I needed to go. By the way it's terminal one but it's in the parking area with all the other Rental companies. When I finally arrived I can now understand the other reviews however the bad reviews is not what I experienced. The young female associate was quite helpful. At first she mentioned that I would have to wait after already waiting for a good 45mins in line. Not her fault as she was the only one working. She said the van was not back from getting cleaned. Which is totally understandable but why have us put in a time. A courtesy call or an update to let us know the status would have sufficed. But I didn't have to wait as long as she intended as by the time she processed my paper work the van had arrived. Paperwork only took about 10mins as I provided all that she needed. The van was clean and spacious and was quite impressive. All in all, the company did well and so did the people. I didn't experience any additional charges or fees or anything of that natured. What o reserved and the fees involved were as promised. The rental took place on February 10th.

Booked and pre-paid a car. Arrived at 8pm and told no cars were available. Staff were slow, indifferent and unhelpful. Seinfeld experience but worse.

Over an hour wait for a pre-booked car Many upset customers while we waited as well. Poor customer service. Obviously a terrible reservation system. Would not recommend.

Worst rental car experience I’ve ever had unfortunately. When I arrived for pickup, there were two people in front of me and somehow it took nearly an hour to get spoken to because they only had one person on who seemed to be new and I equipped to answer basic questions with ease. Another person showed up and started assisting people behind us who were checking in rather than help the person who clearly needed help. A shift change-over also happened so they started the person in front of me over with another agent Twice! Which of course wasted even more time.
By the time I had my keys, it had been I et an hour. Which by the way, I had reserved a compact and they only had an suv, which I don’t mind but didn’t need and was just looking for something fuel efficient to visit family in Powassan. They instructed me to go outside to find my car and do a walk-around. It was in a dark corner. I did not notice anything specific and will admit may not have done the most thorough walk-around after having waited so long standing in line with only two people in front of me. **Also, any other place I have rented from, I have pulled up to a gate (where there is brighter lighting) and walked With an employee to look for any damage before leaving.
Upon checking in, sure enough, they notice a scuff on the front right which I had not noticed before and in the dark when standing from my height walking around I had not seen. I only saw it upping bending my news and looking right at it. I expressed that I had only driven on highway and parked at my mom’s house in a rural driveway (lots of space and no other cars) so there was no way I could have caused the scuff.
I also expressed my disappointment with initial service (which I didn’t have time to do upon pickup) and how travelling such a distance up north, I had just wanted a compact car.) The lady insisted that it was not reported beforehand so it appears I didn’t and the suv is a 4cylinder so it wouldn’t be more gas. (That is not how fuel efficiency works.) A four-cylinder compact car will have better fuel efficiency (typically) than a 4-cyl suv or truck. There are various components when it comes to fuel efficiency so best not to speak about things that you don’t know about.

All of that aside, the people were generally rude and unprofessional. They don’t even greet “hello, how are you” they just bark orders so right off the bat I felt a distaste, even if there wasn’t a huge wait and bad service.

Flight was delayed so I thought I would give them a heads up. Impossible since phone goes straight to an automated system that repeatedly tells me to go to the website, with no opportunity to speak to a representative. Booked through Expedia so I couldn’t even manually change my reservation time on the dollar website. Technology should be simpler than this.

Overcharged by $400, I booked a car on website and paid in advance, and purchased options such as insurances and been told there shouldn’t be any extra charges further. On the day of return, I called the return location to check if I can return it a few hours later at different location, and the service agent said that I can do so without any extra charges. I confirmed twice to make sure over the phone, and after returning the vehicle I was overcharged by $400 in total, and this company has been delaying the refund as they are keep saying they cannot reach the branch and they are waiting for them to reply the email regarding my issue (for 3 weeks and over)
One of the service agent even said that even if one of the agent said that I can return the vehicle later with no extra fee I still have to pay for it. Deserves a big fat clap for the audacity
Now I paid $850 for a day of rental, and Ive been calling them since December 5th or so, and the issue is still not solved.

Not worth the frustration. This is the last place you want to be after a day of travel. Do not deal with Dollar/Thrifty/Hertz at Toronot Pearson Airport.
I had a reservation (which was made a month prior), but when I arrived at the desk they told me I would need to wait 20 minutes for a car to be brought in.then after 30 minutes I inquired about the car and was told they didn't have any cars at the moment (ok, what?) and that it would be another 45 min to 1 hour wait. I then overheard them telling another customer (who also had a reservation) that it would be a at least a 1 hour or not car at all that evening as they don't have any available. Then I overheard them tell another customer "there are 7 people waiting for cars ahead of you" in a tone that seemed like it was the customer's fault.
None of it made sense! Where are the cars? Where are the reservations? It was truly ridiculous.
I canceled my reservation and went next door to Budget and they had me out the door in a few minutes.

When I checked my credit card later, they had billed me for $50 more than my reservation was for!
Now I am afraid I will need to deal with getting a refund from them.

Terrible!
