I do not get my haircuts too often. It was my birthday treat to myself to go to this place for an exquisite haircut. I took a chance to try for a walk-in appointment which they managed quite professionally. I was asked to come after 1 hour and it worked out pretty well. Hair Wash was relaxing, no rush. Haircut was on the spot and finally the blow dry with extra hair serum touch was very generous. I was given a $10 discount as they wanted to make the experience even better by providing a full haircare service to a birthday girl. Sadya (my stylist of the day) was like a diva herself, full of energy, full of style herself and well articulated in her work. I mean that slant cut for my face frame was an epic touch. We had some interesting chat about women empowerment and independence and enjoyed everybit of it. I got the same hair product she recommended to me for future use from this place at a 30% discounted rate. I will definitely go [given my hair grows at a reasonable speed ] to this branch soon. Best balayage and colourist experience EVER! Love my hair so much. Saida knew EXACTLY what I wanted and did it so perfectly and effortlessly. Will 100% go back when I need my colour updated again. Highly recommend. Book her now!

I visited this salon for the first time today for a wash, cut and style. The salon itself is very nice. I had a quick consultation with my stylist, Anatoli before heading to the wash station. The wash was amazing. He took his time and I was super relaxed.
When it was time for the cut, he listened to my requests and gave his own professional input as well.

40 minutes later, my hair was cut to with perfection and he had given it a phenomenal blow out. I walked out of the salon with a spring in my step and my hair bouncing.

Amazing job, reasonable prices for the level of service.

I will absolutely be returning!

While the haircut was what I wanted, a little shorter than expected but it will grow back - it was the side comments that made this a bad experience.

Between sighing with the tangles in my hair, critique about my posture and not having "a normal person" ability to hold my chin level to the floor, critiquing the way I wear my hair and then not changing the water temperature when I said it was too hot were things that made my experience less than enjoyable. There were a few moments where things clipped my ears or they pulled too hard on my hair and though an apology was given, it was always partnered with a chuckle. I can't imagine what could be said to someone who maybe is not able to keep their head up so maybe teaching some sensitivity to your stylists so they don't end up hurting someone's feelings who maybe are unable to sit up straight or level their head or have hair that is different from my pinstright kind.

They are SCAMS.
I booked their most experience hairdresser to dye my hair and they damaged my hair also the colour has nothing to do with the picture that i show them.they charged me 400 dollars for nothing

I had a TERRIBLE, FRUSTRATING, and INEXCUSABLY BAD experience. I went in for a haircut and the stylist did not listen to my request for “long layers” despite me physically showing her how I wanted my hair cut. Instead, she chopped off the front of my hair, told me it would take time to get used to my new style, and then I asked her to not cut anymore because I was afraid she would hack off more of my hair - despite me just wanting a trim and light layers. I can’t event put it into a ponytail which makes me look unprofessional at work, inconvenienced at the gym, and most importantly is NOT what I asked for!

I am very frustrated that I went to what is advertised as a top salon with excellent stylists, and had a horrible and inexcusable experience. My hair will take at least eight months to regrow. I cannot believe they can charge 75-120$ for such terrible service.
I tried having the manager contact me, but have yet to hear back from them.this doesn’t surprise me.
Don’t go here - unless you want a surprise hair cut.

Very bad. Do not recommend at all. I had long hair. I asked then to cut a shoulder size blunt haircut and but they ended up cutting too short. The pushed me to do layers. Very expensive. Very disappointed with the result. It would take weeks to regrow. Very commercial. They just gave 20% off after the whole mess. No manager called me till now.

I walked in your salon two days before my wedding, with hair colour that had gone wrong. I was desperate & hopeless but you took me in and fixed my hair within 30 minutes! My hairdresser had changed had changed my hair colour without telling me & caused my medium brown hair to turn black. I was devastated & begged her to fix it but after colouring my hair 3 times my hair was still black. I love my hair colour more than ever right now & can’t wait to visit again.

I can always count on Kelly-Ann for a beautiful blowout/style! After horrible service at another location, they were kind enough to let me redo my hair last week. Will stick to this location. Thank you.

VERY disappointed in my haircut. About 1-2 inches shorter than i had wanted. In addition the cut has no shape- making it hard to manage and style- which was the overall goal of the cut for me post quarantine. So upsetting- but it will grow!

I am very disappointed customer. The haircut was not suited to my face. They also made me wait long and overcharged. It's terrible salon. You should avoid it!

Loved my up-do! Can’t complain about anything really except I was charged for 1 hour treatment that I was told would include wash. When they didn’t wash and the whole process took 30 min I expected to be charged less than 100$, but alas I did not complain. I was in a hurry to get everything done at yorkdale or else I would have gone somewhere else and paid less.

Best haircut I've ever had. I walked in praying for a last minute appointment so I could attend my work Christmas party looking less like I slept under my car in a blizzard and more fresh and put together. Chris listened to my hair complaints and magically transformed my locks into a beautiful cut and style that has earned me many many compliments. Grateful.

I am a former client of this hair salon. My mother has also been a client for the past few years. She recently called to make an appointment (Aug 25 @ 5pm'ish). She was informed she had to pay a deposit with a credit card over the phone (understandable), when she told the receptionist she wasn't comfortable giving her credit card info over the phone, they hung up on her before she could ask if she can make other arrangements for her deposit. This is very rude and not professional. The reception staff, or whoever answered the phone that evening needs some customer service training and to develop inter-personal skills.
It seems like because of the pandemic, people have forgotten how to treat other people/customers with decency. Very disappointed.

Vince knows how to cut/style hair. You know you have a great hairdresser when the style is still looking good after 9-10 months (due to covid) of last haircut. He is super friendly and makes your experience fun and enjoyable!

Truly excellent stylists. I just said what I was envisioning and they made it happen, and treated me like gold to boot!

This was my first time visiting the salon after months of being unable to get any services due to the pandemic. Vince is amazing, he's so sweet and friendly. He's got amazing skills as a hair stylist. He knows how to cut hair using what the client tells him (how they wear their hair, what they want, what suits their face). I love when he suggests things to me because he sees the future of my hair before I do! Always leave with fresh healthy hair and I'm very thankful for his skill and friendship.

I was quite nervous heading into the mall to get my hair cut. I was pleasantly surprised and reassured by the professionalism, care, and scrupulous attention to caution and distancing guidelines. Listen I got bored during lockdown and decided to go red when I had literally no business doing so. Shout out to Tiff for not only fixing my mistake (s) (*there was a lot happening lets say that) but also understanding my dream of achieving absolute red/orange vibrancy.

Also thanks to Vince my hair not only looks amazing straight but she also dries curly WITH EASE.

All in all a magical experience was had. Really appreciated the offer of disposable mask (s) (I went through two - again a lot was happening) so that my reusable cloth one didn't get stripped of colour like my head.

This time I was with a salon stylist 2. Anyways, not happy this time as the layers I got were not equal and they cut a hole in my hair. Further, they charge $ 11 extra for the corona safety measures.

Great experience at Donato Yorkdale. As soon as I got to the entrance my temperature was taken and I was screened. There were also staff ready to sanitize the hair washing basins/any areas that needed to be sanitized right away. I felt safe and taken care of. Kelly did an amazing job at cutting my hair and listened to everything I envisioned, I left as a very happy customer:)

Tiffany is the best of the best! I have never left the salon disappointed, and she always gets the colour perfect. Kim does my cut, and she too is incredible! She knows exactly what I want and does the best job ever time. I highly recommend Donato!

Margaret and Tiffany are colour professionals.their highlights and colour are the best compared to other places and Chris is an amazing stylist.

I wanted to get the spa treatments that they have available on the website and am not stuck with $700 in useless gift cards. They no longer do any good spa treatments basic wash your face facials.

Do not EVER go to this salon! All 5 star reviews on here are done by clients who are being given a discount at the cash desk! The owner of Donato underpays and abuses his staff regularly! Thanks for the reviews, I was thinking in take an appointment but there is a lot of people talking about the rude attitudes of the staff and horrible work. Location is convenient but.

I asked if they had any availability for a walk in and they penciled me in, the wait was 30 minutes. Not a bad wait considering everyone was busy, I was soon greeted by Chris. Very professional, funny, and cool stylist, I felt great walking out of the salon. Any guys looking to get a clean cut, I recommend Chris to be your stylist. It is quite pricey, but the cut, wash, and dry is top notch. Definitely will stop by again when I'm in Toronto again.

The best hair colour and style I managed to get thru the last 20 years

I went in to get a root touch up and the stylist that touched my hair clearly didn’t know what she was doing. To my horror she over bleached my hair, causing almost all of my hair to fall out and scalp burn! My hair continued to fall out over 2 weeks after it had happened! I never had experienced this before with my hair and the way that I was treated there afterwards! The stylist was rude and unprofessional and didn’t not even bother to apologize once, This was not the first time I’ve had my hair bleached by Donato (Yorkdale). My hair is still damaged and thin from the processing and taking a long time to grow back since it happened. I’m writing this review so that others could be careful who does their hair at the salon! I have written them and email about what happened to me and have not received a single apology letter/email till this day over my situation! The photos I have on my DP are from a video and not even quarter is represented of what fell out that day and the weeks that were to come! Went there for the first time because my toddler were sleeping and they had free time! I have very short hair and just needed trim which took The stylist 10.12 minutes and charged me 110$! Very disappointed! Honestly Feel so bad!

The colourist wouldn’t give me her advice or suggestions.she was annoyed with my questions but I booked the appointment anyway the next day, thinking that at my appointment she’d be a bit more friendly. I was never told that I would have to make another appointment with a stylist to dry my hair and the girl didn’t know how to straighten hair, so not only did I leave with a horrid dye but also frizzy hair. Stupid me, went back to purchase a suggested shampoo for my color, and apparently staff had a good laugh at my expense. Staff was outside having a break and they looked at me pointed and laughed and whispered amongst each other that “i was that girl! ” with the weird dye. I was mortified and left crying! Never again will I go back!

I've been a long time client of Vince's at this location (approx 4 years). I've since moved away and I've come to realize that I've been spoiled by Vince's natural aptitude for cutting hair. I haven't found anyone that comes close to Vince's ability. I miss walking out of the salon feeling like I'm 'walking on sunshine. '

It's difficult to appropriately articulate the experience when Fred cuts my hair at Donato Salon and Spa, Yorkdale.

I have been a client at Donato for 20 years (Square One) because frankly.no other salon and spa does it like John. Period.

I met Fred a month ago, for my first experience with him at Yorkdale.   Having moved to North York, I tried Donato Yorkdale for convenience.

Fred cut my hair.and now I am overwhelmed with the fact that there is no one that will ever cut my hair the way he does; he is a world away from other hair stylists.   He is truly an artist.and maintains a very high level of concentration while he creates and continuously enhances your look.   He studies you and perfects your look minute by minute.from every angle.   He is an amazing visual artist and hairstylist!

The most amazing part of getting my haircut with Fred is that while he's cutting my hair.people walking by and around us, have NO idea that probably one of the best hair stylists in the world is cutting my hair right in front of them.and they go about their business like nothing's happening.

4 out of 5 because that's roughly how many times you will be satisfied with your cut, the other time you will pay someone 20 bucks to shave your $55 haircut off because you're tired of people laughing at your head lol. I'm not exaggerating, but it's been my experience at many other places when you don't have a person you like. All other times this place has been great, I'd say as a guy just get the expensive stylist cause there's a chance you'll end up paying that much for a buzz cut anyway

Absolutely love this place! I was desperate and needed to fix another salons colour ASAP. I was going to a party that night and there was no way I was going looking the way I did. Ariana and Chris completely saved me. I looked like a million bucks when I left. Also the girls at the front desk were fantastic! They squeezed me in even though it was a crazy Saturday and made it work. I will definitely be back, you have a very loyal client for life!

I’ve never seen such a busy and chaotic yet so seemless controlled salon in my life. I was there with a friend yesterday and it was absolutely amazing to watch the staff somehow manage the clients the way they did. Not one chair was empty the entire time we were there. The moment an appointment was over and the person got up, two people rushed over to sweep and clean the chair before another person sat down a minute later. The staff didn’t seem to be fazed by how crazy it was in there. These stylists know what they’re doing!

I love how welcoming they are when you walk in. It doesn't matter if it's a receptionist or a hair stylist.they all greet you, take your coat and offer you a beverage. I have seen numerous stylists here for tons of services and have yet to be disappointed. I highly recommend Racqel, Chris and Tifany!

Highly disappointed with the added surcharge ($10) added to my moms final charge due to “it taking longer than 45 minutes”. I fail to comprehend how it takes an hour to cut hair that is far shorter than shoulder length and somehow have that be an issue on the customers end. Not to mention that this surcharge was added at the last minute and was not even mentioned until I asked why it came out so much. Hairstylist didn’t let us know and forced the receptionist to speak on her behalf even though she had no other clients at the moment. My mom and I have been coming for over 10 years to the Donatos at SQ1 and this has never happened there. The unprofessionalism here is appalling.
