Donut Diner

We went as a group of 10 for brunch the day after our wedding. We had a great meal, the service was fantastic, they were on top of everything, brought everyone coffee & ice water. The food was fantastic, perfect hearty, diner meal. No complaints at all, we got some donuts to go that were also great. I would recommend Donut Diner if you are looking for a classic diner.

Had our very first experience there yesterday. Super good food, service, waitresses, and atmosphere. Just a delightful place for a meal. I tried their eggs Benedict with bacon.it was delicious! Highly recommended this place!

Eggs Benedict with extra egg.ordered it for work picked it up and had decent food to eat at work. So can't complain to much.it did the trick

I’ve driven by Donut Diner for the last 20 years and I’ve always wanted to go in, but was always on my way somewhere else. Well, last weekend I finally did it on a whim.
We went in for doughnuts, we were too late in the day and missed out but we stayed for lunch instead.
First off, the atmosphere is everything you want in a diner. Please don’t ever change. The checkered tiles and red booths give you the retro feel I want in a diner. The service was fantastic, everyone was so friendly and welcoming.
I ordered a Ruben and my partner ordered a western sandwich. I don’t order Rubens often, and I’m really glad I chose to that day. It was just so good and I was thinking about it for days! My partner said it was exactly what a western should be.
I look forward to returning and hopefully I’m early enough for doughnuts next time!

Rude staff. Did not acknowledge our existence. Dirty tables. Left after nearly a 15 minute wait without a menu or an acknowledgment. Ghetto. Don’t waste your time. If I could rate lower than one I would.

Delicious food, great service. Always enjoy going there for home cooking. Best home fries in town!

We enjoyed a yummy lunch in a fun, classic retro environment. The service was fast, hot and friendly. Purchasing a homemade muffin from the displayed baked goods while leaving was a bonus.

I often come here with my husband and friends. Great food and fantastic friendly service (USUALLY) ; however, yesterday we waited 17 minutes and we were ignored and my spouse leas the only one to have a coffee. I had asked for decaf and water and neither of those things came so when they finally came to take our order we left. Also.there were NOT very busy at the time. It was a surprise to me how second rate the service was. The server lamely apologized but we walked out anyway. They almost always do better.

This place is awsome. The staff is amazing, so friendly - the atmosphere is cozy & welcoming (old school vibes) and the breakfast is always A1. Best French toast in town, best western sandwiches. Went once, and haven't stopped going!

Went there this morning unfortunately people here in Hamilton still live like it's 1800s not accepting any other race. I will never step foot back there ever again. If I could give a -100 I would.

The donut diner has been around since I was a little girl, so when I moved back to my parents I knew this would be my new breakfast spot. The service is always phenomenal. With amazing food for a fantastic price. Only spot my fiance and I make sure to visit at minimum twice a month. Hope I never see this place close!

Went to donut diner last night for dinner, the food was good. But they only let you order off of part of the menu which I didn’t like. You couldn’t order a sandwich, which I felt like. They also have taken items off the menu, hot beefs, hot turkeys, etc. Telling us to order from 1 side makes limited choices. Not everyone wants chicken fingers, fish and chips or a hamburger. Very disappointed. They need to step up their game, for a 5 star review.

Been a regular here for years. However, as of late, some changes have directed me to try other places. The staff is what keeps bringing me back.

Small place; a hidden gem located in a somewhat industrial area. You would likely not see the restaurant if you were driving by and not looking for it. Great place for breakfast; have not visited for lunch or dinner yet. It does get busy and the place is relatively small. Staff is always pleasant. Ensure to tip well; these workers have suffered die to covid over the past couple of years!

Okay for the cost but food can be all over the place. For example once we got eggs Benny both of ours eggs were hard boiled not poached.

Love the fish and chips! Love the drive through window! The people who work here are very sweet and kind.

My favourite place in Hamilton for breakfast/brunch. Been coming here since my grandfather took me as a teenager, not much has changed since - in a good way! It feels like home. Food is great, great prices, always friendly hard-working staff.

Just picked up fish and chips for my grandad from The Donut Diner. Only $8.95 plus tax for 1 pc with fries and coleslaw. The portion size is massive. Food was warm, fresh, and they have a drive thru- the server was so polite. 10/10 recommend!

Showed up and tried to purchase some doughnuts with my kids. I was told by staff that if I wanted some I would have to call at 8am and place an order so they would set them aside for me. All sold out of doughnuts.it's called the doughnut diner so I have to place an order for doughnuts at 8am? This business model doesn't even make sense so they have all their doughnuts pre-booked and none available for walk in sales? Disgusting exterior/interior and no doughnuts for sale. No idea how this place has such a good rating the only explanation can be a huge following of obese customers pre-ordering doughnuts at 8am

Didn’t even get a chance to try the food, the service was so bad just waiting to be seated.

Waited almost 10 min & not even acknowledged by the 3 wait staff who walked right by us.

Lots of better places to go if I just want to be ignored…

Got to love this place went there today the girl was so helpful went through the menu with me and they have a lot of quality meals.
I bought a couple of drinks for myself and a friend and asked if I could have water for my dog talk about the greatest people she gave me a container with water and a complimentary container of ham for my dog. You guys are awesome.
Looking forward to many meals at this fine establishment.
Their donuts are twice the size of Tim Hortons.

Great for dinner and breakfast. Hands down some of the best fish and chips around. Had their breakfast wrap and it was amazing.

Food is very good, place is clean and tidy. Good friendly staff. This place can be recommended to anyone.

My Favorite Fish and chips place in the city. Their breakfast is always fresh and plentiful always served with a warm smile. Take a trip back in time to a 70's diner where customer service and quality matters.

The staff are great but the food is not exactly up to par with my expectations. Since there are only currently allowed to serve 10 people at a time it would be helpful if the quality of food actually went up since they aren't cooking for production right now. Bland tasteless and way too much grease just FYI

Good customer service, limited menu. Breakfast wraps were pretty wet and were dripping oil & water, but tasted alright.

I went through the drive-thru no one responded at the speaker so I pulled up to the window waiting to be served nobody came to serve me they just looked at me and disregarded me I don't know if their drive-through is open or not but strange I would never go back there again

Great neighbourhood diner. Food is simply good. Staff are superstars! Very friendly, aim to please and never stop, especially now with the added patio.

Tried 2 separate times to get donuts Saturday mornings and both times they didn't have any, last weekend my wife ordered a wrap and we were told they dont make wraps on weekends

We have been going hefe for years. Good food and reasonable prices. The staff get to know you and make you feel right at home.

I enjoyed my egg salad sandwich. I asked for it without bread and they obliged giving me extra lettuce and it was cool and fresh, very good. Sat on the new patio, (COVID-19) was nice. First time enjoying a breakfast somewhere. Only problem I had was the waitress and cook who brought our dishes weren't wearing face masks. Considering the pandemic circumstances we're going through this year, I would have preferred if they took this step like other restaurants do. The service was great though and the food was excellent value, good portion, and honestly quite enjoyable.

Ordered 3 orders of fish&chips this was one of the best fish&chips we had in a long time. Fresh cut fries a large portion of fish and coleslaw. We will go back soon.

Came here in the morning and they were all out of doughnuts! How can you be called donut diner and be all out of doughnuts in the morning? Didn't end up eating here so food and service could be great, but no doughnuts: (

Big breakfasts and great prices. Took my son here one morning and had the Eggs Benedict while he had the Grilled Cheese. Huge portions and your coffee cup never reaches the bottom as they come around topping you up constantly. When we arrived the doors were still closed but many people were waiting outside to get a table. It didn't take much time at all to get everyone situated and their orders to come out of the kitchen. Kudos!

Friendly people, just popped in for the first time to grab a few donuts, the waitress behind the counter was nice and patient let me know the type of donuts they had and was great during the whole process. Haven't tried their other foods so can't comment on that, but their donuts were made well, their Boston cream has actual custard which to me is a plus, because it shows care. Their apple fritter was the best though, so cinnamon-ny and soft and flavourful, really did enjoy it.

My wife and I go there regularly and we love it. The food never disappoints and the servers and always friendly. The price is also very reasonable.

Horrible service and rude staff. Stood at the counter for almost 5 mins, with no one else in line, before anyone even looked at me. Then the girl told me to wait while she finished the table orders. 10 more mins of standing, I walked out the door. First and last time going.

Have been there 4 times since trying it first time. Lots of great food for a very reasonable price! Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Recommend you try it, and come hungry!

The food portions were generous. We went towards the end of the dining session. We didn't have to wait too long to be served. Reasonable tasting food.

This restaurant has good meals at reasonable prices, But today, l went in around 2 PM and there were two waitresses, there were somewhat busy (not with customers) but they did have a second to wait on me. After sitting there for a good 5 minutes a gentleman came in and before he sit down they took his order, ignoring me. I usually go in this restaurant maybe couple times a month and always leave them a tip and say my please and thank yous. This has happen to me before in this restaurant. Do l smell, not dress appropriate, maybe l have an ugly face or they what a bigger tip. I will like the manager of owner of Donut Diner to give me some kind of answer. GOD BLESS!

Such an amazing breakfast! My best friend and I come here often on our time off. Great service, and tasty food. Not too expensive either! Sometimes it gets quite busy, but clearly if it's filled up, it's good food, no!?

I Have Been Going In Here For A Long Time. And Never Disappointed With The Food Or Service. The Friendyest And The Most Wonderful Staff Of Girls That Work There. They Make You Feel Very Much Like Home. They Do Everything To Please You. Keep It Up.

Quite busy little place. Took over 40 minutes to get the food. Both our breakfasts included home fries which were overdone and tasteless. The best part of my breakfast was the rye toast. Not what we expected.
Washroom floors and doors were sticky. We won't be back.

We waited for 1hr and 45 min for breakfast. Was simply told we were busy and would be another 3 orders. No one approached to let us know of an issue. Everyone around us received there meals and we continued to wait. Not very good customer service.

We had heard good things, so checked it out. The Eggs Benedict and Eggs Florentine were very good - nicely cooked eggs, very tasty Hollandaise with a bit of paprika on top. The homefries were terrible. Big chunks of dry potato - over-fried, and not in a tasty crispy way. Service was very friendly but a bit frantic on a Sunday morning - we had to ask multiple times to get some things (e.g, milk for tea). All in all it was fine, but we'd go elsewhere in the future (Lincside for nearby diner-type breakfast, Papa Leo's for nearby fancier breakfast)

Slow service and my friend found a hair in her food and all they did was make a new one making her wait as I ate my meal alone as did she when she finally got a new one.didnt even off you take it off the bill and TOOK MY PHONE TO THE KITCHEN WITHOUT ME FOR LIKE 5 MINUTES TO LOOK AT THE HAIR IN THE PICTURE.

A very popular and busy location. Service is friendly, wonderful and quick. Food is very good and nicely priced. It a favourite morning escape on the weekend.

Really nice staff and a great coffee. They don't come like this anymore. Nice laidback throwback atmosphere. Bring good company, take your time and enjoy yourselves.
