Dr. Janet Star

She's our children's pediatrician since 2008. She's AMAZING! We have moved close to barrie but we still go to her for our kids. She's very patient, she listens and is extremely knowledgeable.

An amazing doctor, she is so humble and down to earth, and you can really tell that she cares deeply about our girl.

For example, she took time of her personal time to give me a call to answer my questions, because she was fully booked.

I can't say enough, we are lucky to have her.

Dr. Star was my Pediatrician for most of my childhood.

For years, I had been pushed by my school and so-called "experts" (NOT Dr. Star) to take awful drugs such as Ritalin that were doing nothing good to my body, and effectively kept me in an agitated state. In fact, these "experts" said I would never live independently. However, she seemed to know a lot more than these "experts" in Autism, and, in fact, proved that what they were doing was downright wrong and detrimental to my situation.

One day, at age 17, I had enough, and decided to see Dr. Star behind everyone's back to see what she thought about the situation, since she never seemed to have been involved with this nonsense. She managed to get me in as the last patient of the day that same day. I arrived in tears - I just wanted to get off these awful drugs that were being pushed on me. Unlike all the supposed "experts", she actually took the time to listen (and in fact was the ONLY person who listened) and she saw right through the nonsense - and agreed to help. All I can say is that if it wasn't for all her help in that ugly situation, I wouldn't be where I am now.

Here I am 15 years later at 32 years of age, and I've gone from being barely able to function and having failing grades in high school to graduating from Humber with honours, passing my professional licensing exam on the first try, and living independently with minimal supports. I really do miss having her as my doctor (and yes.its been a while), and it took me years of using random walk-in clinics before I was able to find a GP that I even felt comfortable with.

Again, THANK YOU DR. STAR for all the life-changing help. You are an angel.

One tip for parents - bring a book! You'll probably be waiting a while, but honestly, she is worth the wait. Not sure about the staff nowadays, but I do miss the old receptionists, who were great.

Dr. Star is a great paediatrician. Always takes time to listen to issues and is lovely with our daughters. Only reason this isn't 5/5 stars is due to the reception staff. They are the rudest staff I've ever dealt with. Booking appointments is so difficult and the office has illogical rules around scheduling. I had a non-urgent appointment to book with Dr. Star for my 4year old but since the first available appointment was 4 weeks out I wanted to book that appointment and if it got worse could use the urgent booking procedures. The staff wouldn't allow this, which doesn't make any sense. I didn't want to take an urgent spot if it wasn't necessary but knew at some point I would have to see the dr about this issue. I find the staff quite dismissive and will definitely bring up my concerns at our next appointment.

Dr Star is the best!

The reception staff is extremely rude however.

Ever since their long time receptionist moved to another office the replacement staff (and there have been several) are rude and condescending.

I love Dr. Star. However, as others have said, her staff is rude and makes mistakes. I find this a lot with doctors offices - maybe it's just hard to get good help.

Dr. Star is down to earth! She is incredibly knowledgeable and loving towards our baby. Helping us navigate through the challenges of being a first time parent with a new born. Supports you decisions, and offers flexible appointments.

Dr. Star our kids' doctor since our arrival in Canada, she is amazing and the best. We have changed our Doctors many times but for our kids never changed we have always been with Dr. Janet Star and she will always be our Kids star and memories
