For some unknown reason, the staff is very annoyed to be working here. It's unfortunate how their negativity ruins the young adults' excitement for getting a license.
08 January 2024 4:45
Went there two weeks ago for my 16 year old g1 test.he had to take the test twice so far, had to pay an extra 16+ $. I ask which answer were wrong, he told me and when I double check his answer against the MTO rules, he should I had pass the test.the answer on the test are wrong, for example a novice (g1, g2) driver should have a 0 % alcool in their system, yet they say he can have 0.002 % and 0.006%. That is wrong.that is just one example. 5 wrong according to the test, yet according to the MTO he should have had only 2 wrong. Drive test need to read the MTO book and correct their answer.but then again, since it is privately own by a foreign company, they collect more money that way, and since there is no paper test, it will always be their word against anybody else.on top of that the guy at the test booth was rude and had no issue calling out loud that you fail.quite embarrassing.the ministry should investigate them.
14 November 2023 21:47
You have an asian examiner that does not know how to score I checked my score sheet and alot of information he input on his tablet is incorrect and false that person should not be working there looks like he only lets his own kind pass and I saw it myself.
10 November 2023 2:03
I wouldn’t advise anyone to go there. The examiners are not consistent at all. They will not pass you if they don’t like. The management treats people with no respect. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had.
10 October 2023 18:28
Pretty busy drive test centre. Lots of people waiting inside the office. But the staff is very friendly and nice! My examiner for my G test was Yuan, he was very nice and chill which help calmed my nerves. Thank you so much!

Iv been there few times and moslty had bad expirence. My wife isnt speaking English, and we mantioned it to the driving tester. My wife was siting in the car while he tried to ask her questions, she asked if she can get my help (I was outside) just to translate - this is the first time he yelled "no".

After the test was started, he started to yell to drive faster while she was driving 50 and a road that 50 is the speed limit, it happned few times during the test and each time making disapointed breaths and saying "phhh faster faster. ".

Before the exit to highway, where is the recommended speed is 40 and the road is curved and than you have the lane to speed up to 110 and merge with traffic. While she was finishing the curved road he started to say that she already should be on 110 as she driving on BMW car, why? Is there is a law that says if you drive on BMW you should do things in a different way?

Eventully my wife was on the intersaction and had to turn right, the light was red, and she was standing on the crosswalk, a pedestrian was crossing, he reached behind her car and she tried to move a bit forward - he started to yell again the she "didnt see the padestrian" - its wasnt the true.

Overall, he treated her impatiently, scolding her each time she didn't understand something in English. This wasn't the way he was supposed to conduct the driving test - it should have been a pleasant experience focused on testing her driving skills rather than making it difficult due to language comprehension. One last fact - my wife has been driving for 14 years and 6 months in Canada, and she has a lot of experience.

I don't mean to say that everyone there is like this, as I have met some very nice staff members. However, this experience has been the worst one by far. It has taken her time, caused tears, shattered her confidence, cost her money, and now she has to go through the G2 process before obtaining a full G license. It just seems unjust.
03 October 2023 4:58
Customer service is disgusting. Booked road test, came late 4 min, didn't allow to check in. Last time, had to wait 40 min for the instructor, though came on time. Scam.
30 September 2023 2:57
Worse drive test centre ever. Do not take the test here, examiners are rude, frequently use discriminatory comments, like “in your country”, “you guys”. Lack of customer service, it’s a waste of time and money. This center should be closed because human rights are being violated daily, I’m in Canada in a legal status, I came to contribute to the economy, I am hard worker and don’t deserved to be treated disrespectfully. The fact that I’m not Canadian doesn’t give the right to the examiners to abuse of their power because I need the license.
08 August 2023 14:42
Doesn't answer the phone even after being transferred to agent. Can't find info on whether or not we need to book for g1, and cost.
20 July 2023 22:39
Full of racists. Don’t come here if you are not white, coz they try their best to fail you even if you can drive flawlessly. Examiner #597 is the worst of them all, as he will give you “straddles line” when you are changing lanes; and he can disqualify you because of either too fast or too slow. Ridiculous fat guy.
06 October 2022 12:20
Well done staff. I can not believe how organized and great my experience was. The parking lot is well label, there are staff outside to help you with your test and what to do. The inside has great signage and the space to house the people coming into the office. The gentleman assigned to my motorcycle test was reassuring, informative and made me feel extremely comfortable. One of the best government offices i have been to.thank you all for a great experience
04 October 2022 21:54
Iranian lady called Bahjat at the front desk has unacceptable rude attitude! I can not believe people like her are given a job here.
19 January 2022 6:12
G road test passed with Nash. I got pretty clear instructions before and during the test. Thanks Nash and the staff for the attention during that morning. I definitely Recommend this location for road test
15 January 2022 12:46
Very nice and kind service! Getting G1, G2, and G at this place was a very simple and great experience! Mr. Nash is a great person and examiner! Recommend this place 100%
12 January 2022 3:57
I wish there was an option to give negative stars! It seems like the examiners at this location are so used to the bad reviews and nasty reputation that they behave extra rude and they don't even flinch anymore. The employees are not much better either, especially the person who was letting people in at the front door. These people need classes on how to behave with people.
05 January 2022 5:11
I passed my G test here.my examiner was NASH.he was very calm and gave me very clear instructions. He is best and super friendly. I am very glad that he was my examiner.
02 January 2022 3:05
This place is a disaster.
An old man couldn’t sit down because of COVID?
They would have to sanitize the chair after? C’mon people.
When did Ontario privatize our licensing offices?
Sad state
29 December 2021 3:45
Just endured a 2 hour queue in open air with no form of protection at 1°. Seems like a 3rd world country. Drive Test can do better than that. Way better.
27 December 2021 3:12
Passed my Full G with NASH! I was nervous but he was a very nice man and made me feel comfortable. He gave me very clear instructions. He is the best. I was very lucky that he was my examiner. His behavior was such that I thought I was the best driver in the world:) He really made my day!
Nash, if you are reading this, know that I’m wishing you success in every step you take!
24 December 2021 7:36
The old lady was nervous and impolite.
She made me nervous also. I ve been driving highways for 3 years, no problem, drove to the USA and Quebec.and now she was saying I didn't meet the requirements ‍️
She is a joke. Seemed to me like a very moody and biased person.
22 December 2021 5:17
Be very careful of the white young lady who's a dangerous examiner. She is known to fail drivers by putting them into risky driving maneuvers and will give you a bunch of instructions too soon and too fast. Just when you're getting on the ramp she'll tell you to get in the middle lane and come back to right lane. When she sees a trawler behind you she'll ask you to exit or change the lane. If you slow down while exiting she'll blame you.
20 December 2021 21:36
I came here on Nov 19th for my G road rest @ 11: 25am. The line was long for people waiting on G1 testing. However, the scheduled road tests line were short and moving pretty quick. My examiner was Nash, he was very calm, genuine and pleasant. Not once did I feel nervous or intimidated. Nash truly wants you to succeed and always gives the best pointers to better yourself. He reassured me every step of the way and I honestly feel like his calm nature makes you more confident in your driving. I definitely recommend Nash to anyone testing at this location. Thanks to him, I was able to pass my G on my first attempt:)
15 December 2021 14:23
IF I COULD GIVE 0 STARS I WOULD. I had Brian & he was completely rude. From the start he looked like he wanted out of the car. I said hi and he didn’t even respond. He was not welcoming at all. He said i failed because he asked me to preform a act on the highway and i felt it was dangerous (he thought i was gonna hit a car) but i didn’t i was hesitant to move into the lane then he grabbed my wheel. He should not of touched my wheel. Drive test get your act together, these reviews are not doing you well. Stay far from this place.disaster.
14 December 2021 18:20
I passed my g2! They follow the covid protocols and Are quick and friendly. Especially Nash, the man who tested me!
13 December 2021 14:43
I failed my G exam here with examiner named Brian. During the exam I did carefully check mirror very very frequently and checked blind spot with obvious shoulder check for all turning. But he just failed by this reason. When he explained to me after testing, I just shocked because that was the key point I'm sure I did in very obvious manner during the whole test! You will have no option to appeal at all because he almost marked this error everywhere to make sure you will fail. I printed the exam record with 1.5 hours lining up outside of the building. By the way, if you are not native speakers, be careful with this guy because you will be treated rude at the beginning when he saw you from outside of the car. During the exam he was kind of fine and did clear instructions. But when you print the failure exam record, you will shock.
12 December 2021 2:36
Extremely disappointed with the way we were treated / borderline bullied by their staff at this test center. Unprofessional, insensitive and power tripping staff. Wasted a day off from work and money.
10 December 2021 8:38
When I went to do my G test the place was not busy or over crowded. The staff were friendly and organized. I had Nash as my examiner, he was extremely encouraging and kind. He makes you feel at ease during the test. Would highly recommend this location to anyone looking to book their driving tests.
10 December 2021 7:19
What a pleasant experience! I want to commend everyone at the DriveTest in Newmarket and give a big shout-out to Carl who was my Driving Instructor for my G-test today. Very calm and funny, and truly made me feel comfortable and safe.

Thank you everyone at DriveTest Newmarket!
07 December 2021 15:50
Brian was very professional and clear in his instructions, I asked him to repeat some and instructions he said them again kindly!
05 December 2021 11:38
This location offers nothing but poor and rude customer service. Staff here are all being utterly disrespectful towards all the clients. Yelling at people and being condescending. From the front door reception to the staff at the back, no one has been trained to deal with customers attending this location. Employees are having such rude attitudes towards customers, making people feel so little.
I would love to explain my experience and feedback to someone in charge for this location, however I doubt if anyone cares here for anything remotely close to customer service at this centre.
03 December 2021 19:00
I'm so happy right now. While I was driving every single day for the last 2 years and practicing every weekend the last month, I was so nervous during the driving test. Nash is a great examiner who helped me to calm down and do it! Nash gave me a clear instructions. I feel so relieved it's all done now and I can finally sleep at night.
26 November 2021 14:42
Scheduled G Road Test: November 10,2021 @ 9: 34 AM

The wait time seems to be great at this location. I signed in at around 9: 10 AM and the examiner approached my car under 5 minutes later. So, I began my road test before my scheduled time and finished it right around the time it was supposed to start. As for the examiner….

Nash is the epitome of what a driving examiner should strive to be. It was just like driving with a friend than someone who was evaluating my every move. Take it from me, I hate being tested. Hate is a strong word. I hate being tested. The moment that Nash entered my car, he was very friendly and encouraging. He taught me some breathing exercises and answered every question that I had prior to the test. His instructions were also clear, concise, and given well in advance. We also engaged in plenty of small talk throughout the test. In addition, he complimented me every time I successfully completed a task – i.e, changing lanes, three-point turn, smooth driving in general, forward parking, etc. At one point, he even shouted “Even if you don’t believe in yourself, I BELIEVE IN YOU! YOU ARE A VERY SAFE DRIVER! ” After delivering the good news, following the test, he told me a couple of things that I should improve on moving forward.

Trust me, Nash is the best! He genuinely enjoys what he does for a living. Unlike some examiners who go through the motions with drivers, Nash sincerely wants to see you succeed and improve as a driver. Nash, if you are reading this, I wish you success in every stage of your life. I am glad that I met you, and that you were my examiner!
25 November 2021 14:10
Never met more miserable ppl in my life the lady at the front desks really must hate there low paying jobs
14 November 2021 18:18
My examiner Kevin was extremely rude to me throughout my test. He kept yelling "Lets go! Lets go! Lets go! " When all I was doing was following speed limits and making sure it was safe before lane changing. When I was exiting the highway through the off-ramp, the yellow sign says suggested speed limit of 60 so i started to slow down. There was a pickup truck tailgating me and Kevin says to me "Youre holding up traffic! " Like its my problem someone is tailgating me and not following traffic rules? He even had me randomly changing lanes for no reason on the highway during rush hour and got angry when i couldnt because people were speeding past me. This has been my worst driving test experience and I will not be coming back.
14 November 2021 13:08
Professional employees, must do online covid screening before entry. Lines are long dress warm to wait Outdoors.
10 November 2021 0:51
Awful, I failed my G2 test because my examiner Andrew was trying to impress his boss. He told me to park behind the "truck" and as I was approaching the truck he told me it was the wrong one and pointed to an suv. Because of his inability to identify cars, I had to reposition myself and those counted as fixes and because of that I failed. He was incredibly rude and had no sympathy for someone who had been waiting in the car for an hour. Later when I went to the front desk to complain the woman there told me that the rule making you wait 10 days isn't arbitrary and that its the same as stop signs. I don't know about the rest of the people who work there but those two are incompetent.
31 October 2021 23:49
I went on a weekday afterwork, and I was relieved that the line wasn’t too long! I still had to wait half an hour, but that’s still way better than waiting 2-3 hours and lining up across the parking lot in the other GTA location! Adequate social distancing protocols, less crowding and efficient staff make this a great location even though it’s a bit farther away from where I live.
25 October 2021 19:32
Worst experience at this centre.the examiner came an hour after my appointment time. I'm not someone who blames other people for anything but my examiner was unfortunately Joe.this mans attitude from the moment he walked to my car was so horrible and off-putting.i don't know how to explain it but he so clearly looked like he didn't want to be there and in that moment i just felt like he didn't like me and might be racist which really made me nervous.
07 October 2021 15:23
Came here to write my g1, I strongly recommend going middle of the day to avoid lines. When I got there at 1pm on Wednesday, there was only 1 person in front of me and the entire process of registering and test taking took less than 45 min!
12 May 2021 7:01
The staff were very nice and very efficient. The lines were long and they went as fast as they good.
10 May 2021 14:48
Had Dibyesh as an examiner for g2. He was very nice and helpful, and went over things I should be working on, and things I did well. He also calmed down my nerves which I think was very nice of him. I had a bad encounter last time I did my g2 test at this location with a different examiner, but Dibyesh was amazing. He is very eager to help new drivers on the road, which is exactly what an examiner should be doing. Staff was also very friendly.
29 April 2021 21:26
If you are going for G2 better avoid this test centre. My friend got there completed all perfect and then the guy was about to finish but asked one more to do a parking which my friend did right but stopped too close and before adjusting he failed him.not good experience here. Maybe our exp is this. But try and let us know.
25 April 2021 22:31
No wonder why this place has 2.7 stars.
My examiner was late (Kevin) 25 mins. He didn't even let me sign properly on tablet and keep on bugging me again n again. I took few tries to sign and he became agitated and angry.
I think that was the moment he decided to fail me.
I was maintaining the speed of 95-100 on the highway but he told me i was on 70 where as every 2secs i was looking on my speedometer to check my speed.
Gave silly reasons to fail me.
Avoid Kevin at any cost.
07 April 2021 23:31
Kevin my instructor was awesome. He made the G test a lot less stressful, and had a conversation with me. Anyone doing their G test here id highly recommend Kevin.
14 February 2019 10:53
Very bad experience with one lady in the new market office. She was so rude at me while talking with her and I observed the same situation was to one guy who was in-front of me. If she dint like to work, she can resign to her job. Why to shout on us. Its really disgusting. Never go to New Market office. Next day I went to 1448 Lawrence Ave E, Unit 15, they were so good to the customers. You will regret if you visit new market office. Actually I want to give ZERO rating.
12 February 2019 7:20
Had my G2 done here and passed on first try. Just recently did my full G exam as well with Carl and passed on my first try too. He was very nice.

All the 1-star reviews here must be from people that made a ton of mistakes and are surprised that they failed. If you just listen to what your driving instructor says and then look up aspects you're unsure of on youtube before then exam then it's really easy and the examiners don't try to throw "trick-questions" or "got-ya's" at you.
01 February 2019 21:43
5pm on a Wednesday, 1 single kiosk open. At least 35 people sitting here in the waiting room. This is the most inefficient service you will see.
2 staff in the back just chatting. Absolutely no sense no urgency for those waiting. If this was a private business it would be in the drain within a week.
01 February 2019 18:12
I have been a driving coach for 17 years. Only once would I have argued with an examiner for failing a student. All other students, have admitted to either be extremely nervous, over confident, and more importantly under practiced. Keep in mind the examiners are just following protocols given to them by Ministry of Transportation & Drive Test. The road test has really has nothing to do with "real life" driving skill sets. So please don't be confused. They only really need one reason to fail you. It could be small in your eyes, but to them a mistake is a mistake. A famous quote by an examiner. "We don't fail anyone. Students fail themselves. " The G2 is 10 min & G test is 45 min. You must drive absolutely according to the law, and you must make sure every action in considered "absolutely" safe from an examiners perspective not yours. I would highly recommend new immigrants, not to attempt the G exam as suggested by DriveTest if you have experience from another country. Shayraz Khan.
01 February 2019 1:04
If there was a mark with Zero star, I would prefer to mark that without any hesitating. The examiner was trying to do nothing but looking for your minor mistake or fault, then to fail you.if you are doing good, they will let you repeating from time to time until you fail.
17 January 2019 13:38
Today I went for my G license test and I failed. The examiner said there were two reasons I failed.

1. He said I was speeding 70 in a 60 zone. Which I didn't since I kept monitoring my speed in head up display which had the exact number and which the examiner only saw the analog speedometer and assume I speed.

2. He said I was "going" to hit a car backing while backing into a spot. Which I also wasn't, there were at least 40 cm till the parking spot line I saw from my side mirror while backing up. He simply just said you were going to hit the car and told me to shush. Really? I've always done back in driving in my suv and I am 100% sure that there is no way that it will come close to that car.

For anyone who wants to come here for their test
- Just pray before you come and hope for the good examinor.
- Do not leave any mistake open, you rather do it the safest way possible like a granny.
- They will amplify all your actions. For example, if you're driving at 60, they will see it as driving at 65 which will fail you. Just drive around 55.
10 January 2019 5:15
I wish I remembered my examiners name from today! He was so friendly but at the same time very professional. He even helped me and my husband get my 3 kids out of the car before I started my test lol! He would let me know when I'm doing something wrong and when I was doing something right. I find that very helpful and can make someone feel confident while driving in front of someone they dont know. Such a pleasant experience i just wish I remembered his name so I can dedicate the review to him lol:)
08 January 2019 10:09
Bad experience, failed two times for G2 at this testing centre, I had no big mistakes.not sure if the examiner themselves think they are fine to me.they are not so friendly and they make me more and more nervous, I got exam phobia,
05 January 2019 19:01
If i could along with others give negative ratings, I would. Had Joe and it was my worst experiences ever. Always looking down on his tablet and not paying attention to the road (was in middle lane and he realized we had to get on highway so he ordered an immediate lane change at the light already which impeded traffic). His passing of applicants is very low unless you are a pretty girl which is very biased of him. I saw him fail 4 guys today with their total test times not even lasting 10 minutes simply because he wants to go home early.

Unfriendly from the moment he entered my car. Asks you to make lane changes and turns with very little notice and assumes you are making an error (no blind spot check, mirror check) because he is staring at his iPad. Didnt even explain why I failed, simply directed me back to lot and left the car. Had to go into building to ask for my written report printout in which 2 of the marked "mistakes" contradicted each other, which further proves he was just trying to fail from the start to move onto next applicant.
04 January 2019 20:01
Definately don't recommend this place. The instructor was very rude, and started swearing and yelling at another car while I was taking my test. He made me very anxious and seemed to be just an angry guy. I failed this one but passed it somewhere else.
03 January 2019 14:57
So I checked online to see if they were open, it said it was open 24 hours was pretty surprised to see that.called to follow up with them to double check if they were open and it said their phone provided or something was under service and would be back up at 9, long story short I drove from Scarborough to Aurora to try writing my M1 just to find out their not open:/. Not mad or anything I would just appreciate it they corrected the information on hours of operation

Walked in at 10 am on a thursday for my G test at 1048. Was greeted by people lined up outside, a baby crying, people standing, coughing and sneezing everywhere and only two of the sign in computers working. After 15 minutes of waiting i finally got access to sign in, only for it to freeze on me so i went to the counter as i did not want to miss my test. The lady at the counter was extremely rude and acted like it was a burden helping me. I then went to my car to be greeted by Coleen who rudely commented on how there was clutter in the back seat of my car. Before leaving she told me to ask her any question i had but when i asked if i should pass a construction truck with 4 way flashes on she responded with " i shouldn't be teaching you how to drive during a test". I passed my G but the whole experience took about 2.5 hours and every single person i interacted with was miserable. I found myself shaking during the test because of Coleen when i drive for my job monday- friday. Similarly the actual office was very unorganized and dirty, with 2/10 computers working and massive lines and dirty floors and bathrooms. If people have to be surrounded by a room full of sick people then they should at least have the option of moving away but because there is no space, I ended up standing shoulder to shoulder with two 70 year old men coughing on me for an hour. All and all very bad experience and i felt like i was a burden to be helped when i asked about the broken computer or passing a car.
02 January 2019 0:40
I did my G test here, arrived earlier to my appointment, got the ticket from the kiosk on left side of the enterance, waited for my instructor in the car.
My instructor was really an amazing person who gave me full confidence in what I'm doing, he was polite, directed me how to go and what I should do.
Succeeded perfectly.
Thank you, much recomended.
01 January 2019 9:51
Walk in and you will leave to much people go there 3 hrs before its open or 2 not jokeinv lady said whould you like it to be in Chinese but I don't know how to read old granny is a racist
30 December 2018 23:25
First time I did my full G test with an old woman who I dont reveal her name. She was so rude made me nervous and for nooo reason she failed me. Second time I did the test with a nice gentelman named Paul. He was so polite and didnt make me nervous. I passed
29 December 2018 3:20
I had a very pleasant experience both times I was here. I just did my G test here today with Paul and I have no complaints! He was quiet, didn’t make me nervous, very clear and concise. I did the highway component, 3 point turn, emergency roadside stop, parallel park & NO reverse parking (which I was super happy about because that’s what I struggle most with). The lady who issued my G inside was extremely friendly and nice too. Very happy with my experience here!
21 December 2018 15:47
Had Joe as an examiner today (Nov. 27,2018) and very unpleasant attitude. Very late directions and forcing you to make unsafe lane changes because he is not even paying attention to the traffic so he isnt aware of the surrounding circumstances. He is always looking at his tablet and just wants to be done with you.

Lane changed safely on highway for G test and the car that let me lane change sped up to prevent the car behind me in the lane i was just in from changing lanes since he already let me pass. Of course Joe was busy poking around on tablet and thought I cut off the pickup that let me pass in the first place.

The Newmarket Drive Test location is absolutely ridiculous. If I could give a negative star rating, I would. My brother failed his G test for reasons that make no sense at all, as he was just doing what the examiner told him to do/following the law.

The first reason he failed is because he was on the highway and the examiner asked him to make a lane change. My brother checked his mirrors and blind spot and saw that the cars were quite far back so he decided that it was clear for him to go. While he was in the middle of changing lanes, some idiot decided to come speeding up behind him and the examiner claimed that my brother made an "illegal lane change" saying he did not check to make sure the lane was clear first.

The second reason he failed is because he pulled up to an intersection at a red light so he made a full stop, and the light turned green while he was checking the intersection to make sure it was clear, and the examiner claimed this was a "dangerous action" as he was holding up traffic while he was stopped. Please explain to me how stopping at a red light, then checking to make sure the intersection is clear is holding up traffic? I hardly think that counts as a major violation and the examiner clearly needs to use better judgement because it's not like he sat at the green light for a whole minute.

I don't understand how these examiners get away with making these stupid calls, but I searched online and I have not found a way to dispute a failed driving test, or if there is it seems the chances of it actually being appealed are very slim. I could understand failing someone if they were speeding or cutting people off, but following the law and being a cautious driver are not reasons to make someone fail a driving test. It's safe to say that my brother will not be going back to the Newmarket location and to anyone who is taking their test there I wish you good luck, you'll need it.
