I have gone to Duke of Kent at least 4/5 times. I like the atmosphere and the cozy vibes of the pub a lot. Most of the time the food is great. I mostly go on Saturday Steak nights and I wasn't satisfied with the food only one time which is okay as mistakes happen and it wasn't a very big deal in my opinion. All the other times I really loved the steak. And I do think they are always trying to improve their service and are willing to accept constructive criticism which is very commendable.
Really love their chocolate cake as a dessert item and as mentioned the steak is pretty great too.
One thing the pub could improve on is the online reservation aspect. We have often tried to book a table but a lot of the times we wouldn't receive any confirmation. We always would find a table even if the reservation wasn't confirmed though. Still, a confirmation of reservation would be very helpful for a big group of people. Something to keep in mind I guess.
Overall, I will continue to go there and enjoy the fun environment the pub offers.
I was disappointed to find that the sticky toffee pudding did not come with ice cream as indicated in the menu, but only a dollop of whipped cream. They should update the menu, it's dry and plain on its own
The Duke of Kent is like that cozy corner pub where you instantly feel at home, but with some seriously fancy cooking tricks up its sleeve. Seriously, their food is next-level – we're talking creamy, succulent goodness in every bite. You can tell they put heart and soul into every dish.
What I love most is that it's not stuffy or pretentious; it's just a chill place with top-notch grub. Whether you're grabbing a brew or digging into their mouthwatering dishes, the Duke of Kent always hits the spot. It's the kind of spot you keep coming back to for that perfect mix of comfort and gourmet flavor.
Good menu variety. Ordered the Pretzel and Chicken Pot Pie, both delicious. Our server was attentive and friendly! My only feedback would have to be, throughout dinner we could hear and see some employees being scolded from who I assume is management which I thought was awkward and unprofessional infront of customers.
Bar staff and waitresses/ waiters are extremely easy to talk to and all have a great vibe.foods great and it's generally just easy to go in there and relax
After waiting for any service at all and ordering 1 drink and a glass of water. We wound up with one glass of water. Best part! The water tasted like dish soap, maybe I could have washed down the suds with that other drink I ordered! I never ended up getting it so I guess I'll never come back. First restaurant I walked out on in years.
Love this place! Cozy and convenient. Generous portions, amazing service and rustic ambience that transports you back to pubs in the UK! Simple and great for a quick lunch or drinks with family or friends. Kid friendly.
For those looking for a typical English pub, this is the right place. The pub has a modern structure with the 90s. The place offers three environments to enjoy a good drink and a good beer: Patio area for spring and summer, the bar area lounge and the upper lounge.
The pub offers tables adapted to serve people with physical disabilities and an adapted toilet with grab bars, low sink and paper holder and automatic soap, however the toilet door does not have automatic activation, which makes it difficult to open.
The house does not have the structure to receive very young children, precisely because it is a pub, so they do not have a high chair for children. The common toilets are in the basement area, right at the entrance to the pub.
The service of the house is great, attendants very polite, friendly and attentive. The house menu is very complete with drinks, wines and beers, as well as food. From 4pm onwards, the house offers some dishes on sale.
The pub is a block up from Egliton tube station.
It is very worth visiting and gathering friends and family.
I’ve been here before & I was surprised of this low quality this time, we spent ~ $65 for two beers, a 3pc fish tacos & a 3pc mini burger.the fish tacos were in average quality & acceptable, but the mini burgers were something really in lowest possible quality & taste. Im not sure I’ll try this place one more time!
Nice little British pub. Visited a Saturday early evening and it was a little quiet, yet, allowed me to soak up the atmosphere and have a chat. The staff were polite and provided good service. A good selection of familiar British brands of beer. A nice selection of British orientated dishes on the menu.
Nice English pub across the Yonge-Eglinton center, 2 minutes north of the Eglinton subway. Lot of beers on tap with plenty of space outdoors. Standard bar food menu and I had the chicken pot pie which was quite delicious.
Though the fries could use some updating to fresh cut. The atmosphere was great, beer prices were reasonable and the staff were stellar. Highly recommend
Moved into the area recently and dropped into the Duke of Kent for the first time in about 12 years. Good modern pub fare and great beer selection. We were served by Anna who was fantastic: attentive, fast and engaging service! We've been regulars since. Tim behind the bar is also a highlight of any visit! Looking forward to the next visit.
I've had a really good experience at this restaurant. The fish&chips is the best I've had eaten in Toronto. In addition, the staff is amazing, and the atmosphere indoors is really charming. A big thumbs up.
I used to love this pub, but haven't enjoyed it much lately. They did a renovation a few years ago that tore out all the charm. Food options also are not what they used to be, but I suppose they are trying to cater to the salad crowd. For me, it's a pub which means they should focus on hearty fare (they used to have an excellent shepherds pie, and steak sandwiches for example.) Beer selection is probably adequate for most, but not for me.
Party for 18. The afternoon 80th birthday lunch celebration was a massive success because of the staff at the Duke of Kent. The entire staff, from the start of the event planning to the clean up afterwards, was attentive, courteous and overall just awesome to work with. Every member seemed genuinely interested in accommodating all our needs from food and drink requirements to seating arrangements and spacing, and decorations… I simply couldn’t have pulled it off without all of them and their kindness and compassion for helping to create a celebration during a difficult fluid time of planning and execution.
The food (fish and chips) was good and the portion was enough for two people. The server was very sweet and professional. She checked on us to make sure everything was fine; recommended the right food portion (there are 2 choices for fish and chips) ; and got my bf the right beer that he never tried. (We didn’t get her name unfortunately). If the management reads this - you have the right person working in your establishment.
This is a pretty nice and convenient pub location. The food is above average while drinks and services are pretty typical to what you would expect from a pub. A star is taken away for it being a little pricey compared to its peers in the area.
Been living in midtown for years and Duke of Kent is one of my go-to places. Food is good and decently priced. Beer selection is good. Speaking of beer, this is one of the few places in the area that have London Pride on tap. Service is consistently good.
First off the service here was literally the best I can recall, super friendly and helpful. Secondly, their food was fantastic and their Guinness was perfect! We will be here again and again I’m sure!
It was delightful the server was delightful, the food has not changed I had the fish and chips my grandson had the chicken fingers Thank you for a long over due outing that was great. See you soon.
Very elegant and convenient place. They serve big portions and for inexpensive prices. I loved the menu very much and the staff were super attentive and informative. Recommended.
Great neighborhood pub. Nice selection of local beers on tap. The Fish n Chips was recommended by the manager, so it should be. It was spot on! And best of all, lovely and knowledgeable staff!
Love the atmosphere and customer service here. The serving staff and bar tenders are fantastic. Drinks and food are very reasonable and upstairs they have a seating area for groups.
I celebrated the raptors championship at the Duke and despite it being packed and no tables available they still allowed me to watch the game which was pretty incredible too.
This is my pub. For the past 12 years my friend and I come here to get away from everything, to chat to talk and to relax our brain muscles. This is were we feel most at home.
Was under construction when I was there in early July 2019, but the Nacho's with pulled chicken were absolutely incredible! Would go back again just for the Nacho's
Normally I never have issues but recently I’ve been having bad experiences with one server in specific and a male manager that works there. The food is always great but this one server can’t bartend if her life depended on it. The manager and this server seem friendly and usually radiate the same negative and rude energy. Otherwise the food and service are great, it’s sad that two people have to affect my experience.
Good bar. Watched the Raptors win the NBA finals here. Only complaint would be that for $17.99 the nachos felt a little small. Good amount of toppings but they could give a few more chips.
My boyfriend and I waited at the front door for about 5 minutes. We then figured that we were allowed to seat ourselves, so we sat in the back area near the kitchen. 2 servers and the manager walked by us dozens of times without even acknowledging us. I would understand if it was busy, but there were only about 6 tables in the entire restaurant! We left after 15 minutes.
This place is a nice clean pub, with tasty food. I had the bacon cheese burger, with fries. The fries were crispy and fresh, and the burger was fulfilling. Drinks are expensive, but you will find that anywhere along young.
Good food and the pubby atmosphere you would expect from a pub. Will definitely return. One weird things was that the chair to table height was very awkward. You wouldn't think that matters, but it made sitting through the meal awkwardly uncomfortable.
Beautiful place with a really good food also the management always take care their customers. I used to enjoy their patio with friends and family. Truly recommend
Came here to watch Champions League final. The tv did not work for half the game, which was annoying given that everyone had shown up 1-2 hours early to get a spot.
Food was alright. I had the eggs benny, and it wasn't great. Service was slow due to volume of people; place was severely understaffed given that they were expecting a crowd for such a big game.
Love going to the Duke of Kent! Really friendly & attentive staff, great pub food & selection of beers. Large TVs for watching sports. Everything you could hope for in a pub!
Love the food here. They do classic British pub food well. It's modernized without losing its character. Can't go wrong with any of the classics or even the vegetarian Moroccan Stew - lots of veggies. Great to the last bite. And I suppose they do have beer as well.
The Duke is a place near me, in midtown, that I pop into somewhat frequently. I usually sit at the bar where the service is personal and very unpretentious. I like their draft selection and the food hits the spot when you're hungry after work. Great pub at Yonge and Eglinton to stop by!
Friendly staff, good food, and accommodates wheelchairs. I don't know if there's an accessible washroom, as we didn't need one during our visit, but the sign to them pointed down a flight of stairs.
I was shocked at the price of pitchers. Very expensive place. Atmosphere is pretty good but the prices overall don't really seem great for what you're getting. Seems like you're paying for that Yonge and Eglinton real estate
