Perfect day and weather for a walk along the trails today. Around 3pm, light was amazing, long shadows from the trees but buttery soft light.

Been visiting Dundas valley for years. I love this conservation area and it's great for couples and families too
15 November 2022 22:25
Beautiful place to see Fall colors, parking is 11 cad. Lots of walking and biking trails. Washrooms and water fountains are also available. Will visit again.
08 September 2022 13:28
Fantastic park with various difficulty in the trails. Not much "wow" scenery but still worth going 100% for a lengthy walk or a short one!
24 August 2022 15:31
Four Falls: Canterbury Falls, Sherman Falls, Old Mill Falls and Hermitage Falls

Visit to the Trail Center and hike along the Niagara Escarpment

The hike is a loop that takes one to all 4 waterfalls through trails and streets.

Excellent hiking, biking trails far away from urban noise and pollution. If you want to be with nature, get here.
05 March 2022 13:38
Really amazing place to hike! Make sure to bring spikes for your shoes in the winter because it gets pretty icy on the trails. A very beautiful place, can't wait to come back in the spring!
21 February 2022 6:50
Came to hike here for the 2nd time. Did the McCormack and the Sawmill trails. Very good trails. Got a lot of slush this time but no complaints. Will need to come back a few times to finish all the trails.
20 February 2022 21:42
Beautiful place to hike for hours, and enjoy a forest bath. All the waterfalls are breathtaking
16 January 2022 6:59
A quite place to explore during fall. Have so many trails in between. You can go around with your Freinds or family.
09 January 2022 6:28
My Grandfather Thomas Beckett as the founder of the Hamilton Conservation Authority and the founder of the Dundas Valley Conservation Area.
The DVCA is a great place to hike,
Picnic, walk the dog, and explore some of the most beautiful sights hamilton has to offer.
Don’t forget to visit the train station and take a stroll through the Thomas Beckett forest:)
Check out his plaque near the parking area, it will tell you all about his efforts to
Preserve all of Hamilton’s most iconic conservation areas.

Oct 2021- entry was ~$11
The hike on main loop is ~3.5km - the trail path is wide throughout, has a lot of ups and downs. I enjoyed the late fall hike. Lots of bird watching opportunities. Rail engine and station were remarkable. There is a nice stream like a mini cascade. There was only 1 restroom on the whole park, and it closed before sunset - plan accordingly.

Lovely conservation area for a hike, gorgeous scenery and wide paths - but be aware there are a lot of hills!
02 November 2021 2:52
Great challenging course for someone of my skill level. Well maintained tee boxes, fairways and greens. There are a few on-course snack and refreshment stands. Power carts are also well maintained. Very picturesque and quiet with decent elevations.
07 October 2021 9:27
Not a good park for picnic. We paid $11 for parking. We reached 3pm and Washrooms were already closed at 2.30 pm. That's is really bad. I don't recommend this place for family picnic.

I would rate this lovely park 5 stars, but for ONE MAJOR POINT: DANGEROUSLY SELF-ENTITLED BICYCLE CYCLISTS. For most horse riders, it becomes extremely dangerous. I know of one horse who was sadly put down after a cyclist came barreling over a wooden walkway at the bottom of a hill, spooking the horse and resulting in the horse falling into the river, sustaining internal injuries and subsequently DYING. The saddest part, is that the cyclist didn't even slow down after the accident, nor did they look back. Authorities never found out who the person was, who was responsible for that horse's painful fate. The person who carelessly, shamelessly, didn't slow down, and never looked back.

CYCLISTS, you can do better. PLEASE SLOW DOWN NEAR HORSES. Make way for others, and share the trail. This is not a bicycle park-careening down hills may thrill, but it can also kill a horse.

Fellow pedestrians, we must not contribute to the problem by giving right-of-way to the cyclists. It is the CYCLISTS who are now so self-absorbed in their own fun, that they now EXPECT walkers and horses to make way for them as they jet down the conservation area's many, many hills. Horses have the right-of-way above walkers, with walkers above cyclists. In practice, however, it looks to be the complete opposite. Cyclists barrel through, walking people make way, and then horses are made to wait even longer for their own safety.

SAFETY IS EVERYONE'S RESPONSIBILITY!

That said, let's all enjoy the richness that this gorgeous land has to offer! Endless trails, loops, streams, hills and valleys, deer trails, coyote, phenomenal variety of birds including wild turkey, vultures, swallows, jays, woodpeckers, hawks and the very occasional owl. Bunnies, chipmunks, and squirrels, galore! This gem-of-a-greenspace where Dundas-meets-Ancaster and Greenbelt-meets-Conservation Authority does not disappoint! (. Except where horses n cyclists are concerned)

Loved it. Nice walking around looking at butterflies, birds and bees on the wild flowers and trees. Took lots of photos. Been there twice now.
23 August 2021 15:07
We enjoy the walk through the park, very clean and organized, just a reminder for dog owners clean after their pets are done with #2

The first impression about this trail was phenomenal. Even though it is an easy level trail. The sightseeing will keep you busy and grabs your attention away from this trail being bored or flat.

Never seen such a place so green, in the photo I uploaded with just a little edit, but this is the exact color I saw in here. Walking in this place you feel calm. To me it reminds me of some good child hood memories and it also looks like the elwynn forest in World of Warcraft. Weird isn't it?

Recommend for a four star but don't get me wrong, simply because it always gets busy over the weekends. If you planned to come try to avoid the rush hours.

A very large place for hiking and sight seeing. Ruins and falls are great for photos. Plan your travel ahead and come earlier because it takes quite a long time to walk. Parking was $11 per vehicle.
25 July 2021 14:16
Great variety of trails, lots of waterfalls, the woods are beautiful year round, lots of rock faces to view or climb, many streams, great for cycling or hiking.
05 July 2021 20:54
Amazing place for hiking. I take my dog here almost every weekend and she loves it too! Highly recommend checking out Dundas Valley.
01 July 2021 8:53
What a lovely place to go hiking! There is enough to explore for the entire afternoon. I love nature, and the Dundas Valley Conservation Area has some of the best nature in the area.
01 July 2021 2:17
The Dundas Valley Conservation is well worth the trip. You get to see all the beauty that nature has to offer. There are many different trails here. Some of them are easy, some of them are harder. You can choose how long you want to walk and pick your route accordingly. The paths are well maintained, which is important if you're going a longer hike.

If you're in the area, I think it's worth checking out the Hermitage. The ruins are pretty cool.
25 April 2021 9:55
Trail nicely snow packed. Took about 40 minutes to walk the loop. Beautiful streams snow covered and enough variety to make the walk a joy. Not too many people on the trail at 8 am.
02 March 2021 7:53
So many trails. You can spend all whole day there. Winter having is fun too. Forest covered with snow gives stunning view.
17 February 2021 1:47
Great place to hike different trails and to see wild life. Lots of parking available and theh have an awesome hill for tobogganing!
22 April 2020 16:36
Beautiful in all seasons! Lots of different trail options that are well maintained. Good signage and trail markings throughout.
14 January 2020 8:43
An absolutely beautiful conservation area. Well maintained, scenic trails. There is a nominal fee for entry, and it's definitely worth it to maintain this amazing ecosystem. Get there early as it does get quite busy in the afternoon.
09 November 2019 6:06
Excellent trails and beautiful grounds. It's worth more than one trip to go through more of the trails, which vary from easy to medium difficulty.
10 October 2019 6:51
One of the finer conservation areas we've visited. Well marked trails bisecting with the Bruce Trail lead you onto many sites and attractions. Great suburban setting nearby, trail centre provides information and guided hikes, train cars, equestrian trails, Hermitage ruins can all be found here. Dundas is a beautiful town set in a valley with a downtown area featuring many heritage buildings. Admission and conservation authority passes in effect.
31 August 2019 15:33
This is a large conservation area with a few hiking trail options. This place is best suited for picinics and hikes. Lots of wildlife here such as birds, deer, frogs, ducks, even saw a snake but it got away before I could take a picture. We did the McCormack trail and it's the harder one in the area. It's 9.5 km and takes a bit over 2.5 hrs at a moderate pace. Definitely need hiking shoes or running shoes as it gets slippery when wet. There is also a decommissioned Canadian Pacific railway cart by the trail head. Overall this is a good area to hang out for a picnic and to do a moderately challenging hike. One thing I disliked about the McCormack trail was that you have to cross the road with cars driving by to continue the trail.
28 August 2019 15:23
Only went for school trips but i still love it i actually seen a deer and her fawns (baby deer) there walking back to the school bus but i still enjoyed it please go there
18 August 2019 7:56
Extremely unorganized. They tell you they have a spot just so you find out an hour later they already had someone for that spot. Not nice! Not nice at all!
30 July 2019 9:33
As a taxpayer $10 bucks per person plus $15 parking is ridiculous. These parks should be free. All of them.
08 July 2019 3:13
Nice place for a picnic. They have a lake there too where you can swim or go boating. Lots of seats and few places to do BBQ. You can also park there and take shuttle to Webster falls. It's a very big place. We also saw fireflies at night there. The only issue is at entrance. They have a credit card machine to pay but it does not work properly. You can pay cash too but that too does not work properly
Nobody there to help you too. Entrance was $15 per car.
31 May 2019 16:11
Dundas Valley.great park, riding, hiking, jogging, birding, etc. Bruce trail crosses through the park.
Good for all year round outdoors.
Enjoy.
04 February 2019 17:26
This is a nice place for a tame hike. Most of the various trails through this area are wide, and many are gravel. They are wide enough (generally) to walk side-by-side - this is different from many spots on the nearby Bruce Trail where, if you're hiking with a partner, you need to hike one in front of the other.

There are places where the area can be accessed from residential streets if you want to avoid a parking fee.

Near the main parking lot (Parking Lot C) there is an old railway station/interpretive area/building with a concession stand and indoor washrooms.

It is just stunning here. The scenery here is almost unbelievable. If that or photography is your thing, this is a must-visit. One of my favourite places to go to, ever; I am always left in awe! Personally, the trails I go through here are not at all crowded.

I’d advise appropriate footwear as mine are often left muddy and/or wet. Also, beware if you come a day or three after rain. The grounds will remain soaked (plus, lots of puddles!), which means the upward hikes here won’t likely be the best idea.
05 December 2018 17:18
More people than I'd like to see at a place this big but it's a relatively large undisturbed forest to explore off trail.
03 October 2018 4:40
This park is poorly managed. Its a beautiful area to hike but now the fee is $10.00 to get in, which is too much. There is a parking lot at the Hermitage where I push a button and the gate lets me in and then the credit card machine is broken, so we can not get an exit ticket. I was in a hiking group and we had about 7 cars, and there was a line up at the exit gate and the call button person told one of our group to use his cell phone to call somewhere, he did not have a phone or paper to write the number down. We waited about 20 minutes to get out in the hot sun. This is the second time this has happened to me. It's unacceptable. Very poor service at the gate, when their machine is broken and we cannot get out! This conservation area management is on the wrong track!

Absolute gem! The best conservation I've been to within an hour or 2 drive! The landscape is BEAUTIFUL! The trails are great for family or the more experienced hiker! You want to go with the family? Then try this place out for sure! Wide trails for strollers if you have young ones (however the hills can be brutal pushing a stroller, make sure you've got bigger tires to roll easier on the crushed gravel and are willing to get a good workout!) Yet there are also narrow trails that wind around trees and up hills! Spectacular for jogging or more intense hiking on your own or with a group:) the falls are cool too, they aren't big falls, like Webster's, in fact they are quite small but still pretty cool! Worth a checkout If you're out for a hike anyways.

Note: entry fee to park is 10 dollars, you can pay by credit or debit. Cash is accepted at the main entrance. But if you walk in it's free of charge! But definitely worth the cost in my opinion! Definitely worth checking this place out! You'll fall in love!: D
