I have always had a good experience at this lab! I have some health problems which make taking blood a little tricky and they are always super accommodating! I saw Ammar today and he was so quick I didn’t feel a thing, I will be asking for him from now on!

I had an excellent experience. I was welcomed and processed quickly. The clinician who took my blood was kind and gentle and I was done within 10 minutes.

Horrible experience, I had to fast to have my blood work done, so I arrived early the lab was supposed to open at 7: 30pm it did not open up until 7: 45 when it did open there was no staff except one man at reception who was telling people that the wait was more than an hour. Absolutely disgusted. While I was waiting a young girl fainted this place is horrifying.

5 stars for the staff and the speed and professionalism…

Minus 1 star because there are no signs directing you to the lab which, to be fair, is not their fault, really. That’s the building. You have to look things up on a screen at a kiosk. Again, not the fault of the lab but the building.

For reference, the lab is in the basement. Turn right off the elevator then turn left and it’s at the of the hall on your right.

Staff is very friendly!

Extremely absurd and unacceptable to make people who have been fasting for hours to wait for two hours to be served. Two people almost lost consciousness there.

I have been to this lab before and it was extremely well organized. Something must have changed because I arrived at 7: 10 AM, only to be checked in around 8 AM (at which point no patient had been seen yet) and then they told me it would be 1-1.5 hrs of wait. I feel for the staff, they clearly need more people. I’d give 5 stars to the gentleman who served me with care and attention.

Avoid this lab at all costs. There is a shortage of staff and the attitude and morale of the few staff on duty is low. It is not a pleasant place and it is very inefficient. Incredibly long wait times. I arrived at 7: 50 am and had to wait in line standing in a hallway for 30 minutes before getting to the desk to check in. Then I received a text message saying it would be an additional 38 minutes before my service would be provided – simple blood work. I was then informed it would be a 50-minute wait. I left at this point as I did not have time to wait around. I ended up going to the Ottawa Hospital Laboratory Services (because the doctor who issued the requisition is affiliated with the Hospital I was allowed in). It took a total of 15 minutes from arrival to completion of the blood work.

One star and I am being generous. The Asian tech was the worst I have seen in my life. Extremely unprofessional.

If you want to step into the least professional Dynacare in Ottawa, take a tour into the basement of the facilities at Broadview.

I don't even bother doing my lab work in the same building as my doctors here, as the woman who sits at the desk pretending she is on the phone as you walk in so she can ignore you (or wave at you to go throw samples in a box so she can lose the reqs or not check the labels are correct so they can be rejected down the line, hi yes it's me, hi yes, I'm a lab tech of over a decade) will also argue that you did not check in in advance at the right location because somehow you're not on the list. Yet. Your own phone will have pinged five minutes ago that you are next.

They would have a better system going if they didn't have the roadblock at the front desk. It's not the technicians that are the problem. It's her.

Had bloodwork twice with the same technician and remarked both times how painless the procedure was. Thank you Lobna. Receptionist staff are also wonderful and patient, especially when trying to upload documents to their site.

I have had blood taken hundreds of times and I usually have a huge black bruise no matter how gentle the technician is. But there isn't even a mark on my arm, you can't even tell I had blood drawn yesterday!

She was so skilled, and held the needle so still while she switched vials three times. I complemented her steady hand at the time but I am flabbergasted at the complete lack of bruising on my arm.

By far the most gentle and skilled blood draw I have ever had, out of literally hundreds. I am so impressed, I wish I got the techs name, they deserve a raise!

***It was a very long wait but that's to be expected and the lab has the waitlist and estimated times on a screen in the waiting room

Wait time was more than an hour longer than quoted. The staff were not organized and not very well trained in taking blood. 2 staff and four punctures later they got my blood sample. Do not go here

Registration for waitlist was easy, wait time wasn’t too bad for the afternoon. The clinic has wifi which allows you to browse the internet on your phone while you wait. Staff was friendly and helpful, and the technician did the best job of any I’ve had blood work done with!

Not being able to make an appointment + paid parking = a waste of time and money.if your testing needs aren't urgent and you value your time, I'd highly suggest going elsewhere.

I called the head office of Dynacare to inquire what the cost of blood test would be and was told that as long as i have my health card, it's free. So headed over to Dynacare location on Broadview in Ottawa. As i registered, the assistant serving me asked for my requisition and health card and asked me to sit in the waiting room. After an hour and a half wait and as i see that i'm next in line to be seeing, the assistant asked to see me and advises me that since some of my blood tests are specialized (liver panel blood work), that there' would be a $116 charge for the test. I asked why i wasn't told this an hour and a half ago when i handed my requisition over? The answer was simply that she did not know the blood work was specialized. So basically, they didn't look at what was on the requisition until i was next to be called instead of looking at it when i handed it over. Wasted time and money (had to pay for parking). Left that place and decided to go elsewhere for the blood work

Like others have experienced.no one answered the phone on Wed May 17/2023.
At 11: 55 am it rang for at least two minutes. Had to hang up.

3rd time here & the experience is still horrible. Arrived at opening at 7: 30. It is now 8: 30 & board says another 63 min to go. 10 min earlier it said 30 min to go. Appears there is only ONE Tech doing the bloodwork. THIS IS THE WORST MANAGED LAB EVER. DO NOT GO HERE!

Humiliating and torturous experience. I paid $95 for bloodwork. Before we started I told the tech how scared and phobic I am of this all. She let me lie down, nice. Too bad she was a bad technician that had to retry 3 times to get the blood. Each try she spent about a whole minute fidgeting the needle around while it was inside my arm. I never had a nurse or tech pinch my vein while the needle was in, it hurt. I mentioned it hurt and she said “Ok”… She kept doing this over and over to try to get blood. After 5+ minutes of this I was “done”. But no she came back and had to get another vial, because she “forgot to fill one”… she again couldn’t find a vein, after another 5 torturous minutes she finally had another tech takeover, but only for the new tech to tell her that she did get all the vials filled and they were mistaken about being mistaken! They laughed! Haha! She briefly apologized about how “bad” they are and how sorry they feel for me. Haha! Meanwhile I am in a daze about to pass out sweating from my head to toes. I stumbled out of the room as they continued to laugh about it and make teasing comments about me not handling it well. Cruel. On the way out I asked about if they validate parking and the black nurse/technician got so aggressive and sassy with me & scolded me for even asking. She did’t say “no” & it wasn’t clear if they did validate or not, as she kept making quips like “Well they don’t pay for my parking here! ” … Ok. So I mentioned I’ve had it tough there today and the same tech that attended to me and told me how sorry they were in private denied it all & said it wasn’t really that bad and rolled her eyes in front of everyone else. More laughter ensues from other techs at me. It is so unprofessional there it’s like a circus.

Online check-in is not respected, after an hour after the online estimated wait time I was #1 on the waitlist and multiple people were called ahead of me. They go slower as time goes by in the day. Go to a different dynacare

This location is always busy. While the wait was unfortunately 3.5 hours long- they notify you via a text if you choose to leave and come back. Also the staff are cordial and pleasant unlike the horrifically rude staff at the Cleopatra location. I recommend going here as all staff including phlebotomists appear empathetic, kind and patient. Qualities that should be expected from healthcare but sadly are not the norm. I gave it a 3 star due to extended wait times.
