Eagle's Nest Lookout

It’s a great viewpoint looking over the river valley. We were there on a weekday and it was pretty empty.

I recently visited Eagle's Nest Lookout in Bancroft, and it was truly a great experience. The panoramic view allowed me to witness Bancroft changing colors in the fall, which was a breathtaking sight. I highly recommend this lookout for a stunning autumn adventure.

Beautiful spot for a walk/hike through nature. There’s a few trails with some cool features/historical sites to check out, the lookout is definitely the highlight of the park, offering a nice view of Bancroft. The drive up is rather steep so make sure your vehicle can handle it, there’s a couple porta potties at the parking spot as well…

The trail maps make them look very long, but in reality we were able to walk several of the loops in quick succession. A great place to get in a quick workout and stretch your legs!

Easily accessed by car from the main road. At the top, there are some washrooms and some information signage about the history of the area. Trails are very well marked. Although busy during the fall colour, it is an excellent alternative to Algonquin park, and it’s free.

Visit within the next 7 - 10 days for the best show of colors. Beware the parking at the top as the space has been reduced to assist water drainage. Very nice info boards, read both sides. Porto loos in place if you are breaking your neck. Lovely view from the deck.

The lookout is only 5 mins walk from the parking lot. There are other trails but we didn’t have time to go through them.

Beautiful trails to accommodate any age, a variety of lengths. The short ones are challenging from an accessibility perspective so take care and go slow. Not stroller friendly. We loved the walk and lookouts and the kids had a blast exploring the woods and following the coloured trail markers.

Such a beautiful lookout spot in Bancroft. A couple different trails as well to follow. It is a definite recommendation to go to this place especially right now as fall is here.

Great spot for some easy walks with the dog and views out over Bancroft and surrounding areas. Several short walking trails on all sides up top and one wheelchair accessible trail too.

It is nice view at the Eagle’s Nest Lookout. Very easy walk from parking to the lookout following the yellow trail marks.

Loved the trek. From the parking, each of the trails are easy enough. The lookout offers a stunning wide view of the valley below and learning about the Algonquin history of the place and it's geographical transformation from the ice age to now was great. The large plaques/ info boards are well worth reading.

Unique place, steep drive up to the top, for a great view of the York River and Valley. Fall times are spectacular colors.

Nice place for a hike for beginners. Not that challenging for advanced hikers though. A bit small.

Fantastic views, great trails. Upgrades are very nice with grants. Took our Uncle there just before Thanksgiving 2 days in a row, as he loved it so much. The sun was out. Great job on the upgrades. To the few visitors who fail to use the garbage cans.please use them, or don't come for a hike. Trash along the trails, takes away from the beauty.

Great lookout point! Worth the steep drive up to the top, parking is limited but well worth the view.

Pre-pandemic, went here with elderly parents. Dad couldn't manage the rough path & had to stay at the car. Now there is an accessible path to the lookout!

The beauty of Fall in all it's glory are on full display. Level trail & ramp to access the viewing deck makes this accessible to all.
A must see when in Bancroft.
A gentle reminder to hold onto your snack wrappers, cups & pack out t any other potential garbage back with you so all can enjoy this pristine beauty.

Such a beautiful lookout to see the beautiful town. Lots of hills, York river to be seen from top. Very easy hike as car goes till the top. Follow yellow trail if want simple easy hike/ walk to the lookout. Fairly easy.
Purple trail is also very nice and adds fun going through hilly path.
Totally love the place. Free parking. Must visit if in Bancroft or around.

So beautiful up there! Beautiful and easy trail to get to the view. Accessible ramp as well to get onto viewing platform.

Great lookout, just hope the keep the trees and bush cut back. Otherwise its just a hill with trees.

Spectacular views with near peak fall colours! Spectacular views any time of year! Low number of people and everyone was practising social distancing! Parking and rails have been upgraded since I last visited in 2018. Great new information signage kiosks.

Stunning view from the lookout. The trails through the forest are easy and well marked. There are many plaques along the trails that draw your attention to the wonderful flora and fauna surrounding you. In the parking lot, and at the lookout, the history of the Algonquin peoples and the geological history of the area are told in a clear easy to understand manner. Very informative and beautiful.

Absolutely beautiful spot for hiking and photography. Plenty of open spots to take shots, and the various trails wind through the area nicely.

Have many wonderful memories here but couldn't visit on May 23,2021 as the town (or township) had blocked/barricaded the road just off Hwy 62. WHY? It's an outdoor location, easy to social distance, etc!

Great place for a hike and some awesome views. Driving up and down is a bit steep but with improvements to the trails it's very easy hiking.

Good view and clean area, the top was closed for construction so we had to climb the entire path, about 1km and very steep. Need to be fit to climb, otherwise if the car can go up, then its a short walk to the top.

Nice little spot, beautiful views and good walking trails.
However, the road to get to it is unfortunately such terrible condition. Hopefully that can be repaired soon, because otherwise its a great spot!

Can easily drive to near the top and then a short walk out to a lovely viewpoint of the area. A lovely place to stop for a picnic

Deceiving and depressing name upon learning the story. No toilet paper in the restroom. Nice views.

Some great casual hiking trails and some awesome lookouts. Good way to spend a sunny fall afternoon.

Wonderful little hike and lookout provides an unparalleled view of the area. At the top there is a little wooden lookout with plaques on local first Nations history.
Bring good gripping shoes, the rocks can be slippery.
Pay attention to kids and dogs, there is no fence and it's a long fall to the bottom.

Fantastic views as always and this visit we walked up to the top. For mid October the weather was 18 degrees and beautifully sunny.

Beautiful place to go for a hike. Trails are easily accessible. Parking is limited, especially late in the day. Easy Hiking opportunities. Incredible views and amazing sunset from the look out.

Worth the drive to this location! Walk the last of journey to a panoramic view. Historical native area with information plaques. Take your binoculars and camera.

Fraser Lake Camp used to take us camping up here overnight, 8yrs old-14 yrs old I'm 55 now. LOL'S

The scenery is amazing, and there is hiking trails that is moderate.

Great view! Worth the short detour up. Aside from the observation deck, there are also a few hiking trails of varying difficulty.

A beautiful location was some really useful information boards. The only reason I give four stars is because the lookout point needs a makeout as the wood is beginning to wear and crack. A little unsafe in my opinion. But the locations is amazing.

Great views of the area around Bancroft. Trails are well-marked and there's a nice Lookout that safe for kids

Awesome view of the valley. Don't miss the sunset from this magical place. Go to the highest point and take the trail from there.

Except for the road up the mountain being rough we loved our adventure. There are trails to follow and lots of places to take photos. Definitely a must see!

Fantastic park at the top of a winding road going up to the top of the cliffs in the area. It gives a great view of all of Bancroft from a lookout on the trail and had some interesting information boards to see along the main trail. Lots of hiking trails and in great shape overall. I'd definitely come back to try and get more pictures of the birds enjoying the thermals near the lookout point.

Nice view. Trails would be difficult for people with mobility issues and certainly are not stroller friendly. A beautiful walk and beautiful scenery.

Excellent hiking trail. Fabulous views. Viewing platform was a great spot to rest and take in the vista. Wear hiking boots. Not wheelchair accessible.

A friend showed me This great spot! This place is an amazing place to check out some good views. You can drive right up to the top and the trail to the lookout is only 5 mins away.

Very scenic. The drive up is very steep and the road is very rough but very much worth the view.
