JANUARY 12,2023. Shooting in the bathroom.
Toronto police say a gun was fired inside a washroom at East York Alternative Secondary School. The bullet ricocheted off a wall and a projectile slightly injured a staff person who was trying to break up a fight in the washroom. Six people fled the scene, police say.

I graduated from this school over a decade ago. It was the best school I ever attended. All staff actual care about each individual student and they take the time to provide support. Breakfast was also provided daily for students in need. It was the friendliest and most supportive high school environment.

East York Alternative is a great school that is both accommodating and welcoming with teachers who really care and want to see students succeed. The overall atmosphere is a pleasant one to be in and I would highly recommend this school.

As a student, I have first hand experience with the teachers who work at this school. They are extremely supportive and accepting of all different types of students and do whatever they can to provide the most amount of support possible while maintaining a safe and healthy school environment.
