I go almost every Friday with a few coworkers at the end of the day. Staff and food are always on point and their patio is awesome and they have live music.
Went for lunch and both the food and service was incredible. The staff was extremely friendly and outgoing, and the food was as delicious as ever. I would highly recommend this place whether it’s for drinks or lunch/dinner! Will definitely be going back:)
Great experience! Schnitzel and Buffalo chips were excellent. Met the owner and he gave me the history of the restaurant. Met an off duty waitress and talked for nearly an hour. Very friendly staff and great food made for an amazing night!
Picked up fish and chips and a bottle of wine for a last minute st paddys celebrations and i was so impressed with how fresh the takeout was and the tin foil in the box to ensure the food was hot at home! Loved the popcorn too.defs visiting the patio soon.loved the irish music
Ordered here for the first time tonight. It was amazing! How did I not know about this place sooner!? Cajun schnitzel was filling, perfect breading, absolutely delicious. We will definitely be making this a regular spot.
Friendly service and delicious food. They lost a star for not using cheese curds in an otherwise delicious poutine. With Cheese curds this would be the best poutine in town.
It was great - a very rare opp to meet w a friend. Great service. Reservations recommended secure a 1 1/2 hour timeframe. I had schnitzel on a bun which incl a side - mine was house salad w sweet onion. Be sure to mention if you don't want cream/milk/sugar w your tea to avoid wastage. I took what I could use home but we gotta know prices have to include the real costs of dining in the covid world in $$ and to the planet. Absolutely yummy! I can't be a regular solo diner @ $20 lunch but a wonderful get together place I hope to check out the patio (25 are allowed there) quite well spaced and airy inside the restaurant BTW with only 10 permitted.
Ordered takeout the other night, it was ready very quickly. Was kept warm for pickup and it was a lot of food. Had left overs for lunch the next day and it was delicious! Staff was very friendly at pickup, I would highly recommend!
Came here for the schnitzel. Was amazing. Had the Hunter schnitzel which was incredible. I need to come back to try the Cajun one! Great food almost as good as moms. The server was amazing and the owner went out of his way to make sure everything was good. Will definitely be visiting again!
Skip the dish missed three quarters of our order and an employee (Rob) took it upon himself to get in his own vehicle and drop off our dinner at our home! For the inconvenience provided a free bag of popcorn! Top notch service and top notch food! Thank you!
Our Valentine take-out was excellent. Right from the time we picked up our package, we were impressed. The meal was carefully packed with decorations that shouted with care and celebration. We thought it was so good that we paused to take a picture. We unpacked the long stem rose, the box of chocolates, the included bottle of wine and a colourful valentine towel so that we could prepare our table. We went on to enjoy a tasty meal that included shrimp cocktails, Caesar salad, individual entrees on china plates, and white chocolate mousse for dessert. Our two entrees were beef bourguignon and brie-stuffed chicken supreme. Both were tender, plentiful and tasty. Because it was take-out, there was a small amount of prep and heating required. There were clear instructions and the prep ensured that everything was perfect. We look forward to getting back to dining in.and hope that the Edelweiss will continue to have special day menus. We have always known that the Edelweiss provides excellent food but this far exceeded what you might think you would get from a sports bar. Thanks for an enjoyable meal experience at home. Show less
Good old fashioned rolled ribs, home made sauerkraut and a slice of pumpkin pie to sum up a delish visit to my past. The Tavern is an upbeat friendly place to eat. Practicing Covid 19 guidelines in a time of despair in our country. This restaurant has been in business for over 45 years. They renovate and keep up with the times and their meals are always well presented and quality.
Great selection in beer if you like to try new things, the specials are changing frequently. Also frequent/ seasonal menu changes.the Octoberfest Menu is really good. Friendly staff and a nice layout
We've dined in before this whole COVID happened and it was ALWAYS great food and service.our family decided to try the "take out" option. NOT so great. My father in law and I had the Schnitzel Dinner which we ALWAYS have when we go there and it was COLD, usually we get mashed potatoes with it and this time we got home fries which were not fully cooked and somewhat raw and crunchy. The wonton nacho were good tho. Will stick to dine in next time.: (
I visited this establishment on Wednesday, November 4 at approximately 3pm and had a very disappointing experience to say the least. Food was good but service was HORRIBLE! Our waitress was extremely rude from the very beginning to the end.
1. When she brought our food, she TOOK AWAY my drink straw. When I asked for another straw, she admitted to it and said "Oh, I took that when I brought the food because it was just sitting there. " WHAT? 2. She repeatedly kept asking us if we were finished with our meal, all throughout the meal. 3. She cleared our plates away before we had finished with our meal. 4. She then proceeded to ask if we needed takeout containers to take the rest of our meal home.
Mind you, there were only about 7 customers at this restaurant at the time, out of probably about a 100 available seats atleast. I cannot even begin to fathom what her reasoning was behind, what is essentially, kicking us out the door.
My wife and I really enjoy the stand up comedy on monday nights! Its great to see Edelweiss fill up like that. The one midget guy that comes up last is hilarious, very raunchy adult comedy. Great comedic release at the begining of a work week
Good prices, decent food and atmosphere, nice staff, big space for different groups all at the same time; parking isn't great when big events are happening and waitress forgot the vegetables with my meal, but overall a good experience.
Wait time for some drinks was long. My food, (the pot roast) was average and portion size of potatoes was small for a roast too. Interior looks like it can use a lot of love but maybe people expect that for a tavern. On the pricey side
Your bartenders should be trained in smart serve. With that said there is 0 tolerance when it comes to be over served alcohol, roughly 4 hours total.
Management should do a revaluation on what this covers.
Remember the Staff should be watching and know when to cut people off.
Your bar is literally held responsible for the patron for up to the next 24 hours should anything happen.
You're lucky said patrons did not drive that might, there is a bar currently being sued for being held accountable for allowing a patron to drive their vehicle home after being over served.
It lunch time. Service was responsive and pleasant. Food arrived quickly and was tasty. It had been a long time since my last visit. I enjoyed my visit. I'll be back.
Always a signature stop when I'm in Kitchener. This local watering hole has been around for a long time. Always full of locals.and who else serves popcorn to the patrons while they sit and watch sports on the big screens? This place does! If you're local and haven't checked this place out.you're missing out.
Ordered half rack of ribs meal, was pretty good. Went with family group, server seemed unorganized and not used to dealing with app. 35 people. Would go again with friends.
I’ve driven by here since I was a kid, enticed by the famous song wth the same name. Rustic bar, friendly to newcomers, and live music. Met my expectations.
I've been going there for many decades. The food and service has always been and remains good. But.man the place is tired. Especially at the back, it looks dirty and cheap. Come on, where's your pride of ownership. I'd be embarrassed to send people there which, is too bad.
