Edgewater Motel

My boyfriend and I rented a room there through Expedia as well as one for my parents this past weekend. Once we got there and opened our doors, we were hit with a strong odor of cigarette as well as a musty carpet smell, even though these rooms were supposed to be non-smoking rooms. Cigarette butts were found in both rooms, under the beds and in bathroom. It looked like the carpet under the beds hadn't been vaccumed in quite awhile. The doorknobs are just simple knobs with a push button lock with an added lock chain, which didn't seem or feel very safe. There are no controls for the heat/AC. These are controlled in the "office". Each of our rooms had a fireplace for extra heat but our fireplace was quite noisy when turned on. There was a boil water advisory sign on the bathoom wall from the Temiskaming Health Department that appeared to have there for a long time. It's hard to boil water when you dont have a stove. My parent's room was not very well kept, bath tub had a big corner rust spot, visible water damage on bottom wall as well as the bedskirt had nasty white stains on it. Our room was cleaner but not great. We had no bathroom plugs that work. It's unfortunate to write a bad review about a business but people have to right to know about these situations. This was apparently a nice place in the past but change in owners/management in recent years may have led to a lesser quality establishment.

We booked the "cabin" at the Edgewater motel, not knowing it was actually a trailer. It was pretty dirty and not maintained at all. As soon as you walk in it feels like you're going to go through the floor. Previous guests "root touchup" was left in the kitchen. Cushions were put in the windows I'm assuming because of the holes in the screens. As soon as you flush the toilet, it smells like sewage all around the outside of the trailer, and if you need the windows open or the AC on, it will smell inside the trailer too. The one good thing this place has going for it is the view by the water. However, the waterfront is not maintained either. The docks seem dangerous to walk on, one of the Muskoka chairs was broken. If they put some effort into maintaining the property this could be a really great spot.

The bathroom in our unit was filthy. It looked like it's never cleaned after guest leave & we could hear the guest next door snoring all night

Couldn't give more than 5 stars, sorry, my daughters first night out at the age of 6 months and we selected this place. Cozy room but she slept well, they did provide enough pillows as requested and the location. I am going to visit again in a couple of months. This is amazing place

Nothing special about the room. The beds and pillows are hard and it's noisy. But it's close to many amenities and the view is beautiful. There is access to water somewhere on the property but we didn't find it. The person at the desk was great.
