Amazing spot. Its almost 20 minutes walk from the road to the fall, but its worth the effort.

No tickets are required. Beautiful place to visit. Can swim at the end of the falls. The best time to visit to get the full effect of the falls is late spring. Some parts are dried up at this time. The roadway is terrible, not suitable for a car, I won't take my car in, only a truck. One lane roadway and limited parking.

Nice little trail tucked away. The entrance is hard to find and you won't get your civic down the lane but it's worth the stop if you're in the area. Short and easy hike to the rapids/falls. No gates or entry fee. About 5min north of the princess stone mines/store.

A great hiking trail for intermediate hikers to the rapids. High water due to spring melt was very exciting.

Beautiful place. Trail leading to falls is not very difficult but it is better if you have ankle high trail shoes. It is narrow in some spots and rocks and roots makes it bit challenging at times. It was well worth it to take 25 min walk to get to falls.

If you can find it, it is worth checking out.if you have a car that is low to the ground don't attempt driving back, the road is ROUGH

A beautiful place, I enjoyed hiking there! It's not too big, with mostly easy hikes exept for the very last part immediately before the rapids/waterfalls, just a bit mire rocks. I found plenty of hemlocks, large white trilliums, American fly-honeysuckle, lonicera, hobblebush, white violet.
I removed one star because of HORRENDOUS and a narrow road leading to the tiny place where you can park. If you have low-sitting car, you'd better find a parking outside, and walk to get there.
Also there was a young family with two small kids who brought drone to operate there!
Would be nice if a "no drone" line was added to the poster with a list of prohibited items. Because apparently you cannot rely on common sense anymore.

Beautiful provincial park, there are two entrances that you can explore the park through with completely different experiences. The one entrance takes you to a flatter walk that you can enjoy or alternatively for the slightly more adventurous the other entrance eventually leads you to the water's edge. Definitely worth a visit!

This is the newest provincial park in the area however don’t let that fool you, it is NOT like the provincial park you’re used to. Just an FYI, I have lived here all my life. There are to separate entrances, one on each side of the river, both leading to different yet beautiful views if you know where to go. The East side is the nicer side to walk on if hiking is too difficult, however you will have to hike up to the lookout that is off the main trail. The west side is the side that will take you down to the chutes and small lake. This side is for hikers.
The roads that lead into these trails (especially the west side) are extremely old pavement that is all bubbled & broken up so watch out if you’re in a low vehicle. They have not yet started charging for this park but now that so many tourists are staring to visit & with how much work the “park” needs this will likely change sooner than later. Please be safe here & DO NOT LITTER! Please RESPECT nature & our beautiful Egan Chutes if you chose to enjoy. Thank you.

Love it. Short little walk to the falls. Beautiful little site. Can walk on both sides of river FYI.

What a lovely spot we saw one other couple. So quiet, peaceful and the scenery was beautiful. Kept 2 teenagers happy too. Easy to miss the entrance as its not marked.we parked on the side of the rd.

Beautiful little park. I was looking for something to do for an hour or so while I was in Bancroft and this was really close so went for a hike. In the winter some ice cleats or crampons would be nice to have but you don't "need" them. After a short quiet walk along the river you can hear the rapids and the falls. It's beautiful in the winter with the ice formations and snow on the trees. I would highly suggest taking the short walk to the falls area if your in Bancroft.

It's easy to miss the road into the park as there isn't clear signage. As previous reviews mentioned, the road is narrow and paved but un-maintained, so drive carefully.

It's a short 10 minute walk to the chutes. We opted not to take the longer trail due to rain clouds and mosquitoes, but the view of the chutes is worth the short walk! Bring bug spray.

Beautiful small park, gorgeous views but a very tiny parking lot and one way drive. Worth the visit
23 September 2021 7:19
Fantastic set of falls/rapids. Loud! Easy walk. Follow the trail 0.5km downstream. There's another set of rapids on the west side of park. Good for kids but, consider life jackets if they go down close to the action.

I wasn't at Egan chutes provical park I was at my Brother's place where you have the sigh on his property not the parks property
09 September 2021 17:51
Short 10 minute walk to view the falls. Wonderful views and experience being able to get so near to it. Parking is limited so getting there early is a good idea. Use some bug spray.
06 September 2021 3:38
In the town of Bancroft you can go visit this falls. As you park the trail takes about 15 min walk but there are a lot of mosquitos so be careful

No amenities. Very rustic, lots of 'skeeters and poison ivy.that being said. Great trail! And a lovely waterfall.
23 July 2021 10:54
Beautiful walk back to the chutes. Great place to see a wide variety of tree types. Trails in good shape and relatively easy to find the chutes. Interesting geological formations.
13 July 2021 5:32
Beautiful trail and falls, a little rocky towards the end. It says its a provincial park but there is no office or person, its just a trail leading to falls. Parking is very bad and our car scraped the parking lot from the bottom as its not made properly.

In winter time - unless you have an 4x4 SUV, stay clear. Got stuck in the parking lot with my Kia Soul.
5 star because it had low traffic, nice snow shoe hike on both trails
20 January 2021 12:40
Great place to visit for some easy hiking. A few options for trails. Easy hike to the waterfall. Didnt find any issues with parking even with my lowered VW Golf Wagon.

Beautiful nature. From parking, walk along the river till the end. About 15 mins. Little pond surrounded by a huge rock, your voice gets trapped when you talk. Cheesy but cool.
When you reach the fall, the river spilts into two. Most of the river falls one way while the other side you can see the beautiful layered rocks almost untouched by water. You can walk down if you dare. Photos don't do justice.

Chutes are amazing and path is natural and beautiful. I would improve the last section of the trail and the space to observe the waterfall, but it is a wonderful place
28 October 2019 22:00
Nice little non-operating provincial park. Road into the parking area is very tight. Parking is very limited. Be careful with cars or low vehicles as the road in is very rutted and a single lane.
19 October 2019 4:04
A natural beauty no doubt, and I could have given five star only if they had maintained roads that takes you there from the main highway, and at least make it a two way road as it is almost impossible for two vehicles to pass and one usually have to back all the way either ends to let the other go. When you reach the end of the road, the Parking there is another problem as only 4-5 vehicles can fit off road style. Turning around need skills. The trail inside is also not maintained but kind of natural so be prepared. I would rate it moderate to extreme skill required to get to the falls. Watch your steps as tree roots poking out all over the trail so beware of trip hazard. Use bug spray, a lot of it. Once you reach the falls, I mean all the down as it is a steap down trail, it is easier to get in to the water. Water flow is heavy but manageable, WATCH for flash floods, as it will be dangerous to get out of there if stuck in one. Cell phone reception is Patchy. Overall good experience if you reach there safely. I would say family with kids to be very careful, this is not a walk in the park type attraction, but if you like hiking and able to find a place to park at the end of the single narrow lane, then it is worth visiting.
07 October 2019 22:21
Sitting on the rocks with the rushing sounds of the rapids is great for chilling out. Parking lot and road in is a nightmare. Maintenance is non existent.
05 October 2019 4:24
Beautiful. Short hike to the falls area from parking. Parking is limited. Less crowded. The place is serene and peaceful. Spotted few people swimming in the waters.
29 September 2019 9:12
Great outing to show the kids, short hike from the parking just off the main road. Easy hike for any ages, went in August, no bugs at this time of year so all good there, kids went swimming at the bottom they enjoyed it.
13 September 2019 2:07
Mosquitoes. Mosquitoes. Mosquitoes.make sure you spray yourself from head to toe and buy a face net otherwise you are dinner! The views on the trails and the water falls are gorgeous! Worth every mosquito bite!
07 September 2019 5:40
There is a beautiful walking trail here with a set of waterfalls from the river flowing north through the park. At the end of the falls was a lake where a blue heron landed and was looking for fish while I was there. I'd rate it higher but have to warn that the road and parking lot are in rough shape so drivers without a high ground clearance will have to drive very carefully out park at the entrance and walk in. The centre of the road gets considerably higher than the sides on the way in and the parking lot had been half washed away with a sharp drop where the remaining pavement ends.

You are one with nature. It is a little difficult to find but slow down, once you cross Bancroft (lovely little town) and it there to the left in a couple of miles with a very small board that just says Toronto provincial park. The east side of the river is the better trail with at least 3 chutes to visit. Carry your bug spray/lotion and wear long sleeves. Bugs/mosquitoes are omni present.

Amazing. Amazing. Amazing!

This place is a hidden gem. Bring your bathing suit, hiking boots and a camera!

DEFINITELY bring bug spray, it is better at the falls though.:)

I also recommend following the trail, or, geotagging your car so you can make sure to get back safely! There are not any markers in this provincial park.

Such an amazing “hike”. It’s easy if you stay on the trail, lots of fallen trees right now so be cautious you might have to climb until someone cleans up:)
16 August 2019 6:52
Beautiful park off the beaten path. A short hike leads you to these beautiful falls, just watch your step as parts of the trails are washed out.
18 April 2019 13:02
Ok i see most ppl are only aware of the short trail on left side of river which only leads to first set of rapids and has a long rough road leading in to park. THIS IS NOT THE MAIN PARK. Enter on the RIGHT hand side of river and bridge. This entrance is not marked its just a short driveway beside a rockcut. It has the information signs describing the park at this parking area. This side of river also has a MUCH longer trail which will take u to all 3 sets of chutes (rapids). Its a great place for walking the dog.there are lots of minerals to find also although the sign does say ur not allowed to take minerals from the park. Nice walk thru the forest alongside the york river (a branch of the madawaska river). Scenic rapids, and the trail is fairly flat.

Great views of big water and a winding trail with just enough up and downs so you know your getting some real exercise. The only downside to this park is the out and back trail. No loops. Parking is limited
26 January 2019 9:53
Road and trail needs lots of work but its a great place to visit on a warm day to swim in the rapids at the bottom.
23 January 2019 14:40
The main trail is lacking but there are several side trails you can follow down to the chutes. I learned the hard way that bark and leaves are just a horrible and unpleasant thing to endure. That's right there are no restroom/our outhouses thankfully there are several downed trees.
