Elmdale Oyster House & Tavern

We went on a Friday evening, and everyone was happy with their meal. I had the lobster roll, my husband had the fish and chips, and my friend had the vegetarian option - chef created on demand. It was all delicious, but I would have liked the lobster roll without mini shrimp added. Also, it would have been nice with a bit of chopped celery and more mayo, but it was still very good! The place was rather loud when we first arrived at 6: 30pm, but then quieted shortly after. The only real complaint is that the seats were not comfortable. My husband had a very hard time because the chair seat was very narrow, and I didn't like that the seats were not padded. Otherwise had a great time and enjoyed our food!

Visited on a Monday and it was packed inside but there was lots of seating on the patio. Staff was very attentive, mussels were tasty!

We had a great date night at the Elmdale. We were quite early for our reservation, but they kindly sat us early. We were very happy about the oyster and beer special and the steak special, which really increased the affordability of the meal. Service was attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. We would love to return if we’re ever back in Ottawa!

Love coming here on a Thursday for $2 oysters with live music. I will say pretty much everything on the menu (including the cheap oyster night) has doubled in price over the past few years, I presume due to covid. While I understand this and continue to support I do struggle to understand $23 for a chicken sandwich with no fries or side included… this just does not make sense to me. The max a piece of chicken, even free range organic, costs is $5… the waygu burger at $25 sure it’s expensive meat but again… with no sides these prices are a bit strange to me.

Steak special is totally worth it! I enjoy my steak blue & it was done the way I like it.

We went late at night, 15 min before last call for food and they happily and promptly served us. We had oysters, mussels and a lobster shrimp roll and they were all delicious. Staff was friendly. Would recommend!

This was a blast. The food was fantastic (waygu burgers, fried chicken sandwich, brussel sprouts and oysters with amazing sauce selection). Local Craft beer selection was fulsome and service was top notch.

Great spot live dj on saturdays:) local beers check it out.on Tuesdays they have 50 percent of ribs and they the best ribs in the city to begin with or go on a Friday if ur into amazing steak for a crazy good price.they have all ur daily needs covered the wagyu burger is life changing to be honest.and there cocktails are top notch they even have a hidden barrel of aged negronis its something else I've never had a bad time or meal here so I highly recommend coming down you'll most likely see me there ;)

Be aware when buying tequila! We asked for 3 shots of tequila and were billed $13 x 3 = $39 + tax + tip. When I asked; They stated they only had Casamigos gold tequila and couldn’t change the bill. I don’t mind paying for quality goods but at least let the patron know they’re getting top of the line booze for $13.00 each so they can decide. Don’t be sneaky.

Calamari is tiny for its price but otherwise friendly staff and good food.

Had the BEST time there. My very first time trying oysters, and it was a phenomenal experience! Can't wait to go back.

Great food at what at first glance appears to be a "hole in the wall". Service was excellent as well. Will definitely be back.

Great service and a nice atmosphere. The food was really good and really fresh. They had an easy going atmosphere with tvs on playing sports and bench style seats. Music wasn't too loud, which was great for having conversations with a larger group of people. The prices were very reasonable too. There wasn't parking at the restaurant, but there was lots of street parking available in front of the restaurant and on all sides streets nearby.

Amazing place for amazing oysters… and many other awesome foods! A beautifully appointed restaurant with quaint and rustic decor reminiscent lof the 50s! Oh if these walls could talk! Established in 1934, fully updated and unique decor. Staff is incredibly attentive, very friendly and intuitive. Our server Jordan was amazing, as was our shucker… If you’re looking for a great evening out with excellent service, and excellent food, this is the place.

I’ve never had a bad experience here. On Thursdays, you get oysters for $2 each, but at regular price, you get oysters from a variety of places. I love all the house-made sauces. I also love the calamari, shrimp/lobster roll and oyster martinis! This place gives you great seafood without the pretentiousness of other local places.

Great atmosphere, even on a Monday night! Incredible live music, wonderful staff members and the oysters and Beer wee top notch. Thanks for making our night!
